Very cool spot to hang out, eat a snack, drink coffee, ponder art or just chill. Knowledgeable and friendly service. Great community spot for all ages. They also have drink specials and regular events like a food truck and more.

Do you like coffee? Do you like giving back to the community? BlendWell is the perfect place for a hot or cold java concoction if you answered yes to those questions. Ran by the not for profit Community Service League, they use the proceeds to assist families in eastern Jackson county with utilities, food and others services. It is located in a former bank and the vault is now a conference room. The rest of the space is wide open with large modern wooden tables, comfy chairs and couches and local art on the wall. A very clean and welcoming feel, there was a fundraiser selling ornate ribbons and bows going on at the time of my visit. They have the standard coffee choices and grilled sandwiches. I like the idea and the execution of their mission and will stop by for some caffeine anytime I'm near northwest Independence.

It's a nice environment to chat with my social worker with CSL, Samantha. It's a great place to discuss plans for the of my family.

The lady working in the drive through was not wearing a mask. My coffee was not even full and did not taste good. I will not go back.

Our "kids" are in their 20's and it is still one of our favorite family activities. Two hour shifts that go by so fast and we have rarely ever gotten the sane area in all these years!! That's what I get from giving my time and efforts when volunteering at Harvesters: a sense of community. Sure, I could just go help for the feels, but it's so much more than that. For one, awareness of the need is a huge part of volunteering at any food bank or pantry. In any part of this great country, there are fellow community members who go with less, if not entirely without. Did you know that with COVID, the local need is up more than 40%? No? Me neither. The need is *real* and it's not going anywhere anytime soon. Harvesters rallies the community, bringing together volunteer forces from groups like churches, local companies, or other like-minded organizations. Harvesters combines those volunteers with donated foodstuffs and churns out amazing programs like the BackSnack initiative for school children or boxes of food for seniors. Marissa, the community engagement manager, guided us through some safety tips before we hit the packing line, and we were all in sync, moving towards that common goal. Whether you volunteer your time, donate food, or provide financial resources, Harvesters gives us all that important sense of belonging and understanding. Communities grow strong when we pull together during times of great need, and those communities flourish because of our common effort.

We coordinated (ok, my wife coordinated) a pickup from our curb with them and I have to say it was the smoothest donation process yet. We've done things in the past with a few other organizations that were good, but not as communicative. This group called when they were 30 minutes out, wrote up a receipt and left it with us (all masked up during Covid) and took every single item. When you're clearing out, I feel like there are three tiers: Sell; thing like our newer dresser, bed frame, and other items that people are always going to need. We used FB Marketplace and sold each item in 24 hours or less. Donate; items that might be more niche like art, TV stands, end tables that need a little love, etc. That's where we utilized Habitat. Scrap/trash: We utilize KCMO's large trash pickup and while they have skipped it a time or two, it's pretty good overall. I haven't been into their store to shop around myself, at least not yet, but it seems promising. Highly recommend if you have donations that you can't load or haul yourself!
