I have been taking watercolor classes for a couple of years. My teacher, an accomplished fine artist, recommended Blick and another store in Westminster as good sources for supplies. Every time I visit, the staff has been very helpful. When I am wandering around, someone always approaches me to see if I need any help. There is so much merchandise, it's great to have staff to assist the customers in finding the items on their list. I have bought materials for watercolor, drawing, and journaling classes. They even sell skeins of yarn that I've bought for my crochet class! Blick offers a student discount. This past weekend, I took advantage of their Fall sale and online coupon. This is a smaller store, but they have a bit of every kind of art supply you need here. I found this Blick shop as I was in the neighborhood, and I'm glad I stopped in. I was greeted by the cashier and also by another staff lady while I was browsing in the aisles. The store itself is nicely organized and if you test any of their pens, pencils, or anything like that, they have a separate tray where you can place them. I'm thinking they probably do a sanitize thing with them, which is cool. I will have to stop in again sometime! read more

I love walking around and looking at all the art supplies offered here. It's not too big of a store but a decent size. An employee helped me with picking a masking fluid and a kneaded eraser. Their selection of watercolors is plentiful. I ended up buying a tube of white gouache which was on sale. The pearlescent watercolor pan I bought was good quality but cost a pretty penny. I went to Blick's looking for Kolinsky Sable Hair brushes or something comparable. Natalie at Blick's helped me out immensely. While they didn't have any Kolinsky, she looked up which stores had them. Then she showed me what stock they did have, which was Red Sable and the Silver Synthetic.I went with the Red Sable because it was closer to what I need. The price point was a lot cheaper than N&W Series 7, I was able to get two brushes for cheaper than one Series 7 brush. Thank you Natalie! You rock! read more

We just move to a "reasonable" distance to the Fullerton store so I was excited to check it out. I'm a full-time, professional artist and I usually get my art supplies from Jerry's or Amazon, sometimes even Michael's. As I walked in the door a salesperson jumps in front of me and asks "how can I help you". I thought to myself, "ok, attentive salespeople, this is a good start". I told her that I just wanted to look around for several products and I would let her know if I needed help. I wanted to spend some time in Blick's to read labels, compare products, and look for new products, but very soon I realized that it was not going to be allowed to happen. The vibe in the store is horrible, with uptight sales people ambushing your every step. There are signs everywhere stating that you are under surveillance. I guess they must have a huge theft problem. But, if every time you pick up a bottle of acrylic paint, a salesperson jumps out of their skin, it doesn't lend itself to a relaxing shopping experience. Aside from that, the store is small and cramped, and didn't have the expansive inventory that I was hoping for. A positive was that parking was good. I am disappointed about the time I wasted driving there and trying to shop. I'll never shop there again, and continue to shop for art supplies online at Jerry's or Amazon since their prices are basically the same as Blick's. read more

How have I missed this place? I took my kids here for my oldest to get some new art supplies as she was in need of a few specific colors. I spent more than I wanted to, but I knew that would happen anyway. The staff was very nice and the store has a great selection of markers (and other stuff too). Okay, I'm not the artistic type although I can use a number 2 pencil to draw a pretty decent stick man. Yet somehow I've found myself at this art store three times in the past year, each time with a different artist friend. This is definitely a place to shop for the true creative person and not the casual hobbyist who would be more comfortable at the local Michael's. Each of my artist friends love this place. There are many aisles of paints, brushes, canvases, easels, colored pencils, sketchbooks, and so much more. There is a shelf of clearance items at the back of the store too. The staff here are knowledgable and helpful. Multiple times I've witnessed them being asked questions for which they've given concise and informative answers. For example, they won't just give an answer as to which brand of oil paint might be best but will quiz you on what you'll be painting on, what type of brush, etc. in order to recommend the best product for you and why. In short, the staff here impress me. If you are not exactly the artist type and find yourself here with a friend who is doing a deep dive into the large array of offerings, you'll enjoy looking through the many novelty items near the register area. Went in for a bottle of Angelus finish coat. The attendant found it and said $6.01. I said I don't have a penny. She said I can give you change. I handed her $6.00. She held it up and said it's $6.01. I said I thought you had a penny there. She said no. I can give you change. So I gave her another $1. She counted out $0.99 for me. Huh. So much for helpfulness. I originally came in for the derwent ínstense blocks but they weren't in stock, the young staff member with the pink hair was very sweet to check inventory for me. Eventually we settled on the 30 set of neocolor aquarelle crayons. Not only were these probably the best alternative but they're JUST as vibrant as the inktense blocks. My goal was to be able to use these with colored pencils and I CAN !!!! I also got a set of some inexpensive watercolors for $16 and I got 24 tubes. All in all great day in deed. Also I got a massive discount today. Probably saved $30 in total. Genuinely I am impatient when it comes to shipping supplies but their website has a better selection of supplies. I do still find myself resorting to Amazon for quick shipping. Hopefully they'll have more selection stock in store :) I don't wanna give Amazon my $$$$ read more

While the store is filled with tons of products the service is horrid. Not one single hello from any of the six employees I saw. Not one single "can I help you? Are you doing okay? Are you finding what you need? " I waited and hoped. I finally went to the front and asked my questions... the pregnant girl at the front was so rude. She started Point to different sections in the store and tell me where I could find the items I thought I needed. I was literally clueless as to what she said and could have used friendly advice in choosing products. I left with only a couple of things. I would have spent so much more. My Overall visit was unpleasant. I don't know why this store (staff) was so unhelpful and had the worst attitudes with customers. I would hope the owner would educate and train the staff better. read more

Came here looking for some bamboo brushes for calligraphy and the ink. The whole store is filled with very cool art supplies such as canvases, glass and wood palettes, paint, pencils, brushes, paper, and more. Staff were really nice and friendly. Thought it was awesome that they give discounts to educators and students. Just make sure you have your badge or ID with you proving that. They are located in a good sized lot. I didn't have any trouble finding parking. I signed up to have a blicks account, but the coupon that they offer is only for online purchases and not in store. read more

I'd been wanting to buy some Copic markers to use in card making. I'd heard this was the best place to find them. The store carried a lot of art supplied and was very organized . Copic markers come in 358 colors and have a numbering system that helps the buyer choose. Somewhat complicated for a newbie like me though. Fortunately one of the staff, Eddie, was a great help. He spent a good deal of time going over the colors and suggesting some good color combinations. I also picked up some drafting tape which is the Frog tape of paper crafting. I have not been able to find that anywhere for a year. And no it is not the same as masking tape, which is too sticky and can tear paper. Now I know where to find a nice selection of art supplies. read more

(Pre-COVID-19 review) After lunch at the nearby pho restaurant, my friend wanted to get some supplies from Blick Art Materials, so we walked over since Blick was right "next door" to the plaza we were in. I've only ever been to one other Blick location, and that was all the way down in SD a few years ago. I feel like Blick locations always maximize the store space very well, because there are art supplies everywhere you turn. They seem to sell everything that artists need and at very reasonable prices. The staff were also very friendly and are there if you have any questions. EXCELLENT COVID measures. One way aisles, limited number allowed in each aisle, plexiglass at every cashier, all employees wearing masks properly 100% of the time. Sarah is particularly helpful in helping me find creative solutions for my project's needs. The last two times I went to Blick, she was quick to sense I needed assistance. After the first day of the semester we ordered some supplies necessary for one of our courses. It was a $250 order, $280 with $10 shipping and tax, and was to be delivered within 5 days. Seems like a mundane transaction, yes? Blick sent us no confirmation email, no receipt, and no tracking. However, they did charge the debit card for the full amount, so we attributed this to a technical error and just waited for the order to arrive. On day 5 we knew something was wrong when nothing was delivered, so we wrote an email requesting either a tracking number or a refund. Day 6 (Sunday) was the last day before class so we called this store location. A man picked up and we explained our situation. He recognized our situation and asked us if we sent us an email the day before. He also told us they were still looking for our order. This revealed to us two things: 1: Unless there exists a doordash for art supplies, the order would in no way be arriving within the promised 5 days. 2: Blick left us on read, so to speak. Concerned customers asking about the status of their order apparantly didn't warrant an email or phone call back; we had to persue the issue with them by calling the store. I asked when they would be finished looking for our items and was put on hold. When the hold ended we found that we were talking to another customer(????) looking for spray paint so we ended the call and drove to this location. Maybe if we showed our faces at the store they would finally explain to us what happened. Long story finally cut short, they had processed our order and charged the payment method but did not reserve the items to ship. Instead, they sold our things to another customer. They asked us to come back later because they were still looking all over the store for items to fulfill our order. We had to go to this store twice for what was originally a delivery order. To their credit, they did refund the shipping cost. However they did nothing else to appease us for the inconvenience or the fact they had to make product substitutions so that we could take SOMETHING to class the next day. I work in supply chain analysis so I understand that there are often delays. What I don't understand is how they didn't realize an order didn't ship until WE CALLED THEM ON THE EXPECTED DELIVERY DATE. Worse yet, I don't know why it didn't occur to them that they should LET US KNOW WHAT HAPPENED TO OUR ORDER BEFORE TRYING TO ASSEMBLE A KIT ORDER WITH INDIVIDUAL SKUS AT THE LAST MINUTE. If you value your time and your faith in brick and mortar stores, I do not recommend this place. read more

Blick is better than nothing but the selection is poor, prices are higher and if you have a problem with an item you've purchased they won't exchange it or return it. I've had this issue on an expensive light and a cheap pen. If you want the real deal go to Art Supply Warehouse better selection, better prices and a more knowledgeable staff. read more

The store itself is nice. It has a good selection of materials. But the service needs improving. I was in a great mood when I came in and frustrated when I left. Made me wish I hadn't come in at all. It was mostly a couple of the staff who came off as stuck-up and rude. Not just unfriendly, but an attitude that makes you feel bad for asking a question. Especially the girl who checked me out. She was kind of tall with curly brown hair and burgundy glossy lips. She really needs to work on her people skills. Oh well. This art supply shop is conveniently located off the 57 freeway near CSUF. Much closer and more convenient than Art Supply Warehouse in Westminster, It is much smaller I feel than ASW however that may be an unfair comparison as I was in/out because I was looking for something very specific and did not wander around the store. Employees were helpful and the store was clean and organized. The only negative is due to the size as I feel as though they don't carry as much as other art store options. Pricing seems to be slightly higher but when you are looking for specific quality supplies I feel like you are going to pay more than Michaels haha. I did find the special paper I was looking for. The product selection (acrylic and draw) is great and the prices seem fair --even though I wish prices were lower. Hahaha! Pre covid this place was great and during covid it is just as great and feels safe. One way aisles that often than not do help the traffic; at times it can get weird and you feel the need to back track to get to an aisle hah, but small price of awkward timing to pay for safety measures. And it's limited to 2 parties per aisle so you'll never see more than 4-5 in an aisle typically. It is nice to be able to go to a brick and mortar store rather than supporting amazing and I actually have had items be priced lower than amazon a lot. Not only that but if you are a student like me you get the 10% off which is a no brainer for me. Carry some of the best brands for paper and paint. Will always try to purchase here before having to order online! read more

Good vibes coming into the good ol BLICK store to get some goodie's for the brain to express. First off I would like to give props to the manager that was on the clock at the time of my visit. As I was waiting in line to purchase, there was an elderly gentleman that had a lot of questions about the new system that BLICK has put in place for the preferred cards. He wanted to use his BLICK preferred card but was asked to sign up for a new one, due to there being a glitch with the new system now in place. The gentleman was a bit upset, but the manager kept his cool and got through the order with no hang ups. The gentleman fenced with the manager for a bit and the manager had all the answers without belittling the customer. This is just one of the reasons why I will go out of my way to go to this specific BLICK location every time for my art supplies. They also stay tuned in with the businesses in the area, even teaming up and doing wonderful art shows at times (which I had the blessing to be part of one). They keep them selves solid with the art Community in Fullerton by staying active with games, prizes, special days, sales and really lively on social media. I came in looking for POSCA pens and didn't like the prices, but when I was cashing out, I was offered a preferred customer card and signed up for the sales ads via email, so maybe in the future, I can hit them up again when the paint pens are on sale. In the meantime, I went through the entire store and found that it's basically set up for painters, architects and drawers, not really crafters although they do carry some craft kits for kids. I bought Japanese fine-tipped silver, gold and white paint pens, an eraser and an eraser guide for a decent price. It's a friendly place and the staff are helpful and open on Sundays which is a plus for me because Sunday is when I tend to get creative. read more

As I am starting to understand the art-world better and all of the tools necessary to really bring many of the sketches and projects that I create to life, I found out about this little store in Fullerton. While it is a drive from where I am, it was worth it. It has everything that either a novice or advanced artist needs, from multiple sketch pencils with different scales, different sized sketch books, paint brushes, charcoal sticks, colored pencils, to plenty of other things I cannot even think of right at this moment. What's even more of a reason to shop here is to take advantage of the sales that they have on their products, which can definitely help when you are buying a load of supplies. In all, this shop gets a 5/5 for me, possibly even breaking beyond that. It's a place that all artists need to stop by to get their materials, especially if you want ones that will last you for quite awhile. I had bought online from this store several times without knowing it was in Fullerton! I've bought individual Prisma Colors online. The shipping was free and fast! We went to the store in person instead this time :) We shopped for acrylic paints as well as painting accessories. We were unsure of what we needed. A sales person named Bobby was there to help! Bobby showed us the different paints and shared her favorite with us. She even put some paint on her hand so we could see the exceptional color! We bought the exact paint she suggested.
