Stopped by with my friends about a week ago. Our server was super cool and nice and made some great recommendations, such as the flautas!! I ordered the seitan BBQ sandwich with sweet potato fries. Massive portion and delicious food. My friends got the enchiladas and the mongolian seitan. I tried both and they were great! My friends enjoyed even as meat eaters. The menu was also super creative - I had a hard time narrowing down what to eat! You really don't need to have "blind faith" to expect a fabulous vegetarian meal at this restaurant. And you certainly won't go home hungry with generous portions from appetizer to main course. The guacamole was fresh and delicious served with a great assortment of crudites. My husband ordered the miso soup and after I tried a taste, he almost didn't get it back. My entree was the seitan marsala - wow that was delicious. And at no time was I worried about getting a giant fatty bite that always happens when I have meat in that dish. I decided to give Blind Faith Cafe another shot a year later, and I can't say that I was any more impressed than I was the last time. Street parking was easy to find at 7pm on a Friday as I met a girlfriend here for a late dinner. She was visiting from out of town, and I figured this would be a good pick since I knew I'd have veggie options and it was close to where she was staying. Not being a veggie, she seemed to enjoy her meal a lot. She ordered the Gardein pot pie and devoured it, however, I ordered the veggie burger with a side of BBQ sauce and found it less than flavorful. It was just a mushy, COLD patty of blandness. I was excited to try the sweet potatoes fries that everyone raves about, but I was disappointed that those came out cold as well. Clearly, I'm unlucky with picking food items here. I will say that our waiter, Jonathan was an absolute delight! He was both entertaining, and friendly, and made our dinning experience worthwhile. I also opted to order a slice of carrot cake to go based on his suggestion of ordering dessert, and I didn't regret my decision. I'm also not one to order fruity cocktails, but decided to order the strawberry fields cocktail based on other reviews, and found it light and refreshing. Not disappointed there either. My favorite place to eat in Evanston area, hands down! Never been disappointed, but sometimes there could be more food on the plate! I haven't tried any desserts - they look gorgeous, but also highly caloric. I'm almost a vegetarian, so I go with a vegetarian friend, but, unfortunately, most of my other friends have not been as enamored as I am! Such a great option for vegetarian/vegan food in Evanston and near the city! We had the frittata and the huevos rancheros and both were delicious, fresh, and filling. We were excited to see just how many options they had and can't wait to go back again for some of their lunch items! They are great with COVID precautions, keeping distance when the waiters take orders, sanitizing, and offering hand wipes for diners. Ordered 3 entrees & an appetizer yesterday. First the negative criticism. The sea vegetables in the macrobiotic plate tasted terrible. Like rotten eggs. I like the texture a lot, though. Stopped by on a whim as we were in the area and saw they had outdoor seating. Just an FYI, there isn't any handicap parking anywhere nearby. We drove around and finally ended up getting out in the ally and wheeling over. We haven't been here in many years so I was excited to try some of our old faves. Ordered some drinks to start. My SO had the Hefe Weizen beer & I had a drink similar to a cosmo but it was made with Pomegranate liqueur, vodka, lime and something else but can't remember & it's not on the online menu however it was AMAZING! It packed a punch and tasted like juice. Yum! For dinner I had the Bibim Bop Rice Bowl. Just as I remember, if not better! Egg was perfectly over easy. Everything was nice and hot except the marinated cucumbers which was a nice palette cleanser. The spice factor of the grilled seitan was perfect. Just enough to feel it on your lips without killing your tastebuds. My SO had the fajitas "the old way" made with a red sauce instead of bbq. It was reminiscent of the old way but we didn't expect it to be the same. It was very good. Only thing I'd suggest (for both meals) is to cut the seitan smaller so the sauces & char cover more because we have to cut those big ol pieces. With the Yelp checkin we got some chocolate cake bites and they were a bit dense and nice and chocolaty. read more

So confused with this cafe. Free two hour street parking near by. Ordered gyros and kung pao. Literally both tasted the same. So weird. I truly don't understand why the gardein in the gyros had a strong Asian flavor!!! It was like two of the same meals but with different presentation. The sweet potato fries were not crispy and lacked salt. Tzatziki sauce tasted super watered down. Disappointing. Overall, nothing special about either. I've had MUCH better vegan food elsewhere. GET THE PEANUT BUTTER CHOCOLATE CAKE. Yes it's vegan, but it's made so well you won't notice. I'm a full on omnivore borderline carnivore and this is one of my top desserts in the Chicagoland area. The appetizer we ordered never came, and when we said just to take it off the check, he goes "oh that's my bad, I never put it in, so we're good. You've got enough food here, right?" I wasn't thrilled with that response, but I was with my wife and another couple, so I held my tongue. Whatever. I also asked for no jalapeños in my Thai noodles, but since he didn't write it down, I got jalapeños. Tip for customers.: Even when they are not busy, they will seat you in a busy alcove where they do their takeout business, next to the bathroom entrance, or across from ta service station; no matter that it is very obvious there are other tables available. I needed a quick lunch one day, their seating area near the register was empty and the barista at the counter indicated the restaurant had only one server so I should probably sit in the dining room. The hostess appeared and I asked if I could sit in the empty space. She said I had to sit in the dining room which was quite crowded and I indicated that I felt uncomfortable, needed a spot that was a bit distanced from other diners. Blind Faith -both the restaurant and the attached bakery- is my all-time favorite vegetarian/vegan restaurant in the Chicago area. I used to live in Skokie, so regular trips to Blind Faith was a big part of my routine. Now that I live in Oak Park - and seriously, there is NO easy route to Evanston from Oak Park- trips to my beloved Blind Faith are rare and celebrated event! Blind Faith surprises me each visit with something new and delicious, although it's hard to top the seitan fajitas, seitan marsala and the stunning macrobiotic plate. The vegan chocolate cake with vegan vanilla frosting is the perfect dessert, and I love it so much I served it as my wedding cake a few years ago! Due to the long commute, I always order 3-4 extra meals to take home. Everything reheats beautifully. Service is lovely. Parking isn't too challenging. Totally worth the trip to Evanston!! read more

The Thai noodle salad was tasty and filling (enough to take it home for lunch the next day). The Kung Pao was all fine by the time we left. Fantastic choice for vegetarians; I eat meat, but the food is fresh and good. It's more than met the needs of our wide food tastes and preferences. The Cosmo was fine: the martini was passable. This place is so yummy! They have a bunch of vegan options and are very knowledgeable about what's in the food and willing to customize things for dietary needs. Our server Adriana was attentive and kind and clearly genuinely enjoyed their job and helping us pick out meals that we wanted. Lots of yummy vegan options.
