Jason, the owner, came to our table and met us, knowing we were new there and made sure we were taken care of and happy with our service so far. he was so accommodating and friendly, no wonder the regular customers wanted us to meet him. next, our service from Vino, our server, was fantastic. he was so customer focused and didn't say a single word without the biggest smile on his face. i am so thankful for him and his customer focused attitude. before we ordered our final meal after the preztal bites (AMAZING) shaylee, another bartender/ server stopped by our table to ask what we were thinking of ordering, i told her i was thinking about the spicy peach wings (odd flavor i know), she stated that was what she had for lunch and as a former service employee myself, if you're ordering the food you serve... it's good. that completely sold me on the flavor. i ordered bone in spicy peach and i kid you not, ate every single wing to a clean bone without hesitation. the fries...... SO CRISPY. i don't know much more to say other than, the atmosphere here is so small town and comfy and just a fantastic place to relax. we will definitely return. thank you so much for the amazing service and even more for the food. shoutout to Vino, Jason, and Shaylee!! you three were amazing and you have a very good establishment to be proud of. thank you for taking such good care of us!!

We visited this new local sports bar on a Saturday at around 4:30 pm to avoid a dinner rush…read more We were promptly greeted and directed to sit at a bar top table immediately in the door. Because it was hot we elected to move further into the restaurant to not experience the heat of someone opening the door to come in. The person seating us let us know that she would be back to take our order if she was told she would be waiting on us or if the bartender would be taking our table. We were then immediately greeted by the bartender without having had an opportunity to look at the menus. It did take us some time to select a drink. The restaurant provides a menu of cocktail drinks with pictures and prices but very little description. The beer on tap and in bottles is not printed so you have to rely on the bartender to provide. We were told by the bartender that the restaurant is trying to get used to the Ben E Keith options available. I don't think I really wanted, needed or requested this info. I decided on a Paloma and my husband ordered a fruity white drink that my husband loved but it was pricey at $15. I did hear after I had been there awhile that margaritas were on special. I would have liked that info in the beginning when I was placing my order. A spicy margarita was my second order due to cost of $9.00. My husband ordered the Reuben with homemade chips and I order chicken strips and onion rings. My husband loved his sandwich and the home made chips. My chicken strips had little to no flavor. The gravy also had little to no flavor. While I understand a restaurant would want to leave making an item salt or pepper tasting, food does need to have some flavor. I can see they are new and I hope they make changes to the diners experience to achieve repeat visits. We will probably give it a couple of weeks before we return.

We came here after a full day of biking, hiking, and kayaking at Lake Mineral Wells State Park,…read morewhere we were camping (keeping with our tradition of getting Tex-Mex for dinner after such excursions). Taqueria La Estrella has a high ranking, so we came in with high hopes. It's got that typical small town Texas restaurant vibe, and the chips and salsa were great, and you even get your own little personal salsa bowl, which was a nice touch. The margaritas (giant glasses) were also solid. Unfortunately, after that, everything was downhill. The queso was gloop with ground beef mush served on top. The lime chicken cilantro wasn't bad, but it was just very uninspired. We appreciated that there were cooked zucchini and squash on the side, but the chicken itself was really dry and we did not see any cilantro to speak of! The El Tejano was a combo plate that did not showcase much: the hard taco was basically just more slop in a shell and the enchilada was just covered in the queso goop and nothing else. Beans and rice were whatevs. Our daughter's cheese quesadilla kid's plate was as you would expect given the above. Our server was a nice kid, but it was clear that he was new because he didn't really seem like he knew the menu. But he was attentive enough. Anyway, we weren't expecting fireworks in Mineral Well, so this place pretty much lived up to expectations. Three stars.

Never thought that we would end up back at a Chili's again in our lives since our last…read moreironic-on-purpose visit with our friends a couple years back. It was Sunday night, and like idiots, we didn't check the hours of the place that we had wanted to go to...and it was closed! And our Plan B and Plan C were also closed, so considering that we were all starting to get hangry, off to Chili's we went! Service left a lot to be desired. We waited for a long time to be greeted, and when we asked someone if we could put a drink order in, she was like, "Oh, I didn't even see you there!" Wow, great job! And our food took a LONG time to come out, and our second round of drinks took so long that we ended up cancelling them. As far as food, we knew what we're getting into, so we can't even complain. The two of us shared the "combo" fajita plate with shrimp and steak and we had plenty of leftovers--cannot believe that it's intended for one person. This is America! Our daughter got a kid's pizza with french fries (which came out cold). We do have to say nice things about the side of asparagus we got. *That* was pretty good. This experience was as disappointing as we expected it to be. Thanks, Chili's of Mineral Wells. 2.5 stars, rounding up because the drinks were decent and the food was edible, but damn, y'all need to shape up.
