No exaggeration, this is truly one of the most shockingly bad experiences I've had with a business. I'm a contract lawyer, so I've seen some crazy business practices in my days. This comes at the top. Here's the story. I needed shades repaired. Basic work: a few shades don't come all the way up. I called this company and they said they could get the job done. However, it would require that they take my blinds so that they could repair them on site. They said it would take 7-14 days to repair. I triple-checked the time because my windows would be completely exposed during that time and I would have no privacy. They assured me that the maximum amount of time would be 14 days but it likely would not be nearly that long. Ok, great. Last week of May: they came on a Monday to pick up my shades (for an extra $100). They told me that my total would be about $400 and they would reach out to schedule a time to drop them off sometime the following week. June 12: I get a call saying they're ready and we schedule a time for them to be dropped off. It's over the two weeks they initially quoted but only by a few days--no biggie. June 13: I get a call saying that they made a mistake--they need a few more days to work on the blinds. I was bummed, but what can you do? A few days came and went and I never hear back from them so the following week I call for an update. They transfer me to Al who says there's a delay because they're working on getting a part they need to fix the blinds. I ask him to keep me updated because at this point I've had no window coverings (hence, no privacy) for over 3 weeks and I want to be sure that my order doesn't fall through the cracks. He says he would be sure to update me following week. Two weeks go by, I hear nothing. So I called, and left a voicemail. No return call. After a few days I called again. Once again, no answer or return call. About 10 days later, on July 15, someone calls and says that my shades are ready. I ask her if they're willing to take something off the cost, considering they they initially told me that they'd have my blinds back to me within 2 weeks and we're now well over 6 weeks. She said she'd talk to a manager and call me back later that day. Of course, she didn't. Two days later on July 17th, someone different calls and again says my blinds are ready. Again, I ask about the discount for the inconvenience. She says, "Al told us that he talked to you yesterday and told you that's not possible." I told her that no one told me that and that I did not speak with Al yesterday. It had been a month since we spoke. Not only would they not offer a discount for their delay, but she also told me that I must now pay an additional $130 above the quoted price for parts! She said her notes said that someone called me and I approved the extra $130 for parts. I certainly did not. She says she'll get Al to call me. Al calls me 10 minutes later and within 45 seconds of him calling, he says, direct quote: "I don't have time to talk to you. You should be happy that we repaired these. Do you want your shades back or not? Either you're going to pay the new price, or I'm going to take your shades apart and you'll have to come pick them up." Wooow! I told him I was shocked that he was talking to me like this, especially since I'm the one who has been inconvenienced. He responds, "I'm shocked that you're not more grateful. Do you want your shades back or not? I don't have time for this." Not only was he not apologetic for taking more than TRIPLE the amount of time quoted, never updating me as he said he would, and not returning my calls, but he's shocked that I'm not more grateful? What?! I told him that I'd come pick up my shades. He said that he'd need two days to "unrepair" them. Meaning that, out of spite, he was going to spend two days working to undo the work he did so that my blinds would be unusable. And only then would he return them. It's petty, small, counterproductive and obviously, horrible customer service. Learn from my mistake: stay away from this business. read more

I live in the South Chicago Suburbs and for the past 15 years I have been a customer of Anderson Blinds Inc. located in Orland Park, IL. They have always provided me with excellent service, repair and cleaning of my Hunter Douglas blinds. Due to recent retirement, they have closed down and referred their business to Blinds & Designs by Nicolette, Inc. I took my blinds to Blinds & Designs by Nicolette and was assured by Al that they would handle and clean my blinds as good and even better than Anderson Blinds. Overall, the results were not as promised and EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTNG. I spent over $850, had to wait ten days to receive my drapes that were returned to me poorly packaged causing them to be wrinkled. A dingy grey color featuring disturbing water/chemical marks on the bottom of my drapes. A post card was attached on the drapes stating they cleaned my drapes by ultrasonic cleaning method. I was unhappy and went to a competitive company where it was confirmed my drapes were not ultrasonic cleaned. I was deceived. This competitive company cleaned and thoughtfully packaged my drapes - they turned out much brighter, whiter and beautiful. From my experience, I would strongly recommend NOT using Blinds & Designs by Nicolette. read more

Loved how great we were taken care of and there were no hidden fees. The install was quickly and seamless. Loved my experience.

As much as I wanted to be nice and my patience was tested, my experience was not good. The wrong shades were ordered so the wait for installation with correct ones was even longer (even with "supply chain issues"). When correct ones finally arrived, there was another installation issue. I had to use paper shades for another two weeks. It was maddening quite frankly. I had used blinds by nicolette 23 years ago and I had a slight issue then but gave them another chance. I most likely will not use them again. read more

I have had multiple experiences with this company, and each time I am impressed by their "can do" attitude. They can create whatever you want, offer creative solutions and the end product is very nice. Prices are competitive or better. They are located off 95th St. and a little hard to find, so get directions before you start off. read more

This was a great experience from beginning to end. We got the estimate on September 3, the blinds were installed on September 16. Price was excellent and Rick, the installer, was quick and extremely professional. The communication from the company (Nancy and Alphonso) was outstanding and the blinds are gorgeous. I write to praise Nancy. I have drapes to be hung and broken blinds to be removed. I am disabled and on my own. Lucas Drapes was to do the job yesterday. I waited two weeks for them (and Ken was thirty minutes late). He came in, looked over the job, looked me in the eye, and said "I left something in the car." He never came back but, apparently, Ken is afraid of two fifteen pound dogs that he knew about in advance and were locked up. I digress, but the background is important. To be so sick and dependent on strangers is so unbelievably hard. I just wanted to give up. But, I googled, found Blinds by Nicolette by random, and called. Nancy was unbelievably kind and understanding of my circumstances. She is a dog lover. But, Nancy is also a wonderful, warm, compassionate person. She was upfront and honest and she is sending someone to hang my drapes today. Nancy really did restore my faith in humanity! ETA: the installer showed up 40 minutes late. He had no tools or ladder. Stepped out to call his boss. Left without a word. Never did the work I was already charged for, never even looked at my window. The webpage says this company is "compassionate." Nancy maybe. Nobody else. He left without a word. Clearly, he thought this would be acceptable to his boss. I understand this apartment smells, but it is as clean as it can be given my health. I was ready to order new flooring from Designs by Nicolette. Al was going to come tomorrow to give an estimate. Too bad. read more

I only have one star because that's the lowest I could rate them. I was late for a call to get back home and the installer had to come back. The blind I was going to get fixed turned out to be no good. I asked for their estimater to come over. I made the appointment over the phone while the installer was there. The office insisted I pay 40 dollar charge even though she did nothing. I cancelled the estimator and will not be buying blinds from them thats for sure. The owner could have tried to salvage this by saying I would have gotten my 40 back if I bought blinds by them....but no. See ya read more

Loved my experience with Blinds by Nicolette. Al Roache is extremely knowledgeable and friendly. AND he actually--if you can imagine--counseled me to keep my existing treatments and simply update with new fabrics. The showroom has bolts of fabrics that are leftovers from previous jobs, and if you can find what you like in that pile, the fabric is free. So, for a very reasonable price, I have clean and fixed up vertical blinds, and beautiful free silk over the cornice-pieces. Definitely visiting these guys again for window treatments. read more

About 3 years ago, I purchased window treatments for our living room and dining room from Blinds By Nicolette. I decided to finish the rest of our bedrooms and kitchen. Fantastic customer service and service recovery. They got my blind order screwed up and comped me the blinds that were incorrectly ordered. Owner personally came by and apologized brought me a gift card and the shutters they installed and did get correct are fabulous. They really dress up my tiny little home. Al was so nice when coming to give estimates and treated my toddlers that were clearly in the way with such kindness. They are the best and they could get 1000 things wrong, but they were so humble and took ownership and that alone would keep me giving them try after try. Awesome! read more

Owner is a very friendly man. He came out and showed us all of our options and spent time going through everything with us. Unfortunately, we've been waiting a VERY long time to receive a quote from them. Our appointment was May 20 and it is now June 15th. That's even after I called 4 days ago to remind them about getting a quote to us. Virginia (receptionist) couldn't believe we still hadn't received our quote nor the samples that we ordered. I have used Blinds by Nicolette since 2006. Al is the best! They have helped me with all window treatments for my condo, and I have never had a bad experience working with them. From looking at samples with Al, to the installation of the final product, all done with care by pros. They have not only delivered on what was promised, but also worked with me when a revision or repair was needed, with no questions asked and in a timely manner. I worked with this company and purchased blinds for my entire home. When I saw on the news how small children were choking on blind cords, I called the company in an effort to get shorter cords because I had small children. The owner was EXTREMELY RUDE. He told me that I was just trying to get something for free. It really shocked me because it was not the case. I was truly calling and inquiring because I was concerned. I was a young mother. I would not recommend this company to anyone. It still stings to this day the way he spoke to me. As I look at all of the long cords he sold me, I thank God that my kids were not victims. read more
