I walked in during the midafternoon probably about 3:30 and I was immediately helped. The young girl behind the counter took the time to explain what each choice was. There were a few sears at a counter and there was a bench. It was bright and. Leans and giant windows to let in all the sunshine. It was really a very nice eating spot if you choose to eat there. I ordered two items. The first was their Lolo's Bowl which had açaí, granola, honey and fresh berries and it was delicious. The other was a special they were having that month. It had lime, oil, granola, açaí, kiwi, blueberries and other things and this one is fantastic. Loved everything about this place. Their help is nice and bubbly. Not sure if it was the owner who gave me a sample of the peanut butter granola and peanut butter chia pudding, but it was a perfect helping just "to try" and, wow, but my heart was warmed when a person of need walked into the place and she she handed him a banana. It was clear that the interaction was routine, but she had no problem giving him something to eat and it made me so joyous to see such a charitable thing. She also spoke to him like a person, not as someone that would be less because he has less. Clearly this place is run by a good person too. I'm so glad I finally made it in!! The food was refreshing, and a much needed change from the typical "vegan junk food" restaurants you would find in the city (not hating on those places, but sometimes I prefer to walk out of a restaurant without a food baby). I loved that they even purify their water with different elements, such as crystals, to detoxify, and boost positivity. Seriously some awesome vibes in this place! They even have a grab and go section along with an entire wall filled with homemade soaps, knickknacks and what not. Service was phenomenal and anyone who complains about the portion sizes in their review should probably rethink how much they are consuming in one meal. I was plenty full after my meal, and it was the first time I had eaten all day. Pricing is on point for the food, especially since its fresh and organic ($48 for two meals and two drinks - no different than if you were to go to a regular restaurant to stuff your face with processed food and a glass of wine). I had the braised seitan that comes with the house mash and a salad, and I also ordered their Fountain of Youth juice (kale, apple, parsley, celery, ginger and lemon). Even though they are both cafes, they are very different. Gianni's is more of an Italian bistro. Nicollette's is a cute coffee shop with a nice cafe menu of pastries and breakfast foods and sandwiches. I believe they have some lunch items like paninis and salads, but I don't right recall as I was there on a Sunday morning. What I found interesting with this coffee shop versus others is that they open at 10am and not the normal 8am or 9am on a Sunday morning. When I arrived (about 15 minutes prior to them opening the shop), I found plenty of parking on the street. Behind the building there are more parking lots, so there is plenty of parking for the restuarants, bars, and shops in the immediate area. Upon entering the shop, there are little clusters of seating areas all over the cafe. The clusters have cushioned chairs, couches and comfy seating - not a hard seat in the place - which is perfect for meeting up with friends, grabbing an expertly made coffee drink and a delicious treat, sandwich, or salad. I ordered my go to: an iced oat milk mocha latte with an extra pump of mocha and some kind of pastry. On this occasion, I ordered a Nutella and banana crepe. When it arrived, the crepe was the size of the plate. It was sweet, but not too much, and had a nice blend of Nutella and banana, but it wasn't drowning in Nutella, which is often the folly and failure of other places that use this hazelnut spread. We had a lovely time and they don't shoo you out as more people arrive. The staff is friendly, the music is not too loud, and the ambience is conversational. It's a great location to meet up with friends and colleagues in Palatine. A place I will surely revisit.
