Let me start off by saying I really am not the best when it comes to flowers but man oh man was I completely obsessed with my bouquet, pineapple centerpieces and everything else Betti made for our wedding. I gave Betti samples of things that I thought would be cute and she knocked it out of the park, I honestly did not know what looks good and what to do for a wedding. My mom and I almost made my wedding into a kids birthday party but she stopped us and shared her thoughts of how simple yet beautiful and fun a wedding could be with flowers/greenery. I seriously thought Betti was a lifesaver. She guided my mom and I in the right place. Betti was so easy to talk to and attentive. She personalized each item to my request. Even made them the colors I asked for and showed how to handle the flowers. I really do not have much of an artistic eye and Betti helped me see what would add nicely and respectful taste to my wedding. Guests were heard talking about how beautiful the flowers were. No one wanted these flowers to go to waste and guests took them home to add to their gardens or just household; It has been 2 weeks and my flowers are still blooming at peoples homes. So a bit of background... I always buy flowers for my wife on special occasions. In previous years when she worked in LA I always went through Sonny Alexander. For me, when you find a quality place you stick with it. I haven't been able to find an equivalent here in Newport Beach. When I called Bliss Fine Florals I spoke to Betti. I explained I wanted to get flowers for my wife's birthday and have them delivered to a hospital where she worked. Betti was very friendly and assured me that I would be happy with her arrangement. I also requested a receipt for my purchase through email. Betti assured me that one would be sent. I agreed to spend approximately $100-120, but more importantly I said that I wanted the arrangement to look good. When my wife received the arrangement I got a picture of the flowers. Needless to say, I was not impressed. I think that Betti misunderstood that the flowers were for my wife who WORKS at a hospital, not a PATIENT at the hospital. The arrangement was crammed together and was no higher than 10 inches high ( yes I measured it). Is this something that you would like to receive as a birthday present? I am a person who just wants to feel like their money was well spent. I honestly feel that I could have bought 2 dozen roses at Costco and made them look better than the arrangement my wife received for less than half the price. Looking at their reviews I'm sure that they probably do a good job for weddings or larger events. However, in my eyes they fell well short of satisfactory. Oh and by the way... Betti is the best. Went looking for a flower shop in the Lido area. Rainy day and nothing was open. Went to Yelp to find another flower shop and just happened to call Betti. She was out on a delivery and said she would be back in 20 minutes. She called me back and I headed over. Upon arriving she had a neat little shop. She asked what I was looking for. I just needed a heart warming bouquet of flowers in a vase. She said she would get right on it and that's I would love the arrangement. I had to leave and asked her to send me a picture on my phone. When I got nervous about the florist I originally hired for my mother's funeral, I decided to call Betti on someone's recommendation. I caught her late in the day as she was doing errands and we agreed to talk specifics the following day. The next day, I called her and we spoke for no more than 30 minutes about my ideas and hopes for the 'ideal' floral arrangements for the occasion. I suggested broadly that I wanted no roses or orchids or peonies, that I wanted the arrangements to be whimsical rather than doleful, and that I thought purple would make a good unifying theme. Other than that, the only parameters I gave Betti were the location (a church's outdoor rose garden) and the number and size of the tables where I wanted the bouquets placed. After that, I received an invoice which I prepaid. The day of the funeral the flowers arrived exactly as promised, on time, and exactly to my specifications. They were absolutely stunning. They were thematically unified (through purple irises and orange tulips and white vases) but at the same time each arrangement was different from every angle, which I loved because it broke up the (otherwise would be) monotony of having the same arrangement on every table. The arrangements were so exquisite that people in attendance were assertive in asking me if they could take them home afterwards. I cannot recommend Betti and Bliss Fine Florals strongly enough.
