I decided to go with a local florist instead of 1800 flowers for a "doggy flower arrangement". I sent Dian the photo and she said she can do it. Dian was very responsive which I absolutely appreciated. Although I haven't ordered from her before, I had peace of mind knowing I can request a change in the arrangement since she sent me a text message of the arrangement before delivery. Hehehehehhe...I posted a photo. She made the arrangement her own, which is great, but uh, it doesn't look like a doggy. hehehehehehhe. If it was that big of a deal to me, I'm sure she would've corrected it, but she sent me the text at 10:20pm and indicated it was going to be delivered first thing in the morning. So, I hesitated to request a change and instead I said it looked good when I saw the text at 730am. They open at 8am. I'm not sure if I'll go to Petal People Florist again. Minimum was $50 and it was a $10.50 delivery fee regardless of location. I cannot explain how pleased I was with Petal People Florist. My parents needed a standing spray for a funeral. We live about an 1 1/2 away from Irvine and don't know local florists or their work. I searched on yelp and talked to Dian and was so helpful with the colors and our price. On the day on the funeral they delivered on time as promised. The spray was nicer then expected. I had the pleasure of working with Diane this past Friday evening. We had a memorial on Sunday and most florist shops are closed or don't deliver. Boy did she deliver! I let her know the color choices I preferred and white and purple were amongst the yellow I requested. Petal People Florist is the shop that delivered my flowers for Valentine's Day. The boyfriend had called around to all the shops in the area to find out if they deliver to my office (as my workplace has rather tight security), and Petal People Florist was the only one that did. In terms of customer service, I think the shop definitely went above and beyond to make sure the boyfriend was satisfied with the order. As anyone might guess, Valentine's Day can be rather hectic for a flower shop. And even though their Vday merchandising consisted of mostly rose arrangements, they made a special exception to let him place a custom order consisting of purple tulips and white calla lilies, despite the fact that it was their biggest sales day of the year. Plus, the flowers were timely delivered to the office right after lunch (some shops don't even make their deliveries on the day). The flowers were gorgeous. The florist added a personal touch to the bouquet with a little felt heart around the vase. It did look a little tacky (in contrast to the modern design of the arrangement), but it is Valentine's Day after all. =) Valentine's Day is one of those occasions that easily reveal whether a flower shop is worth your business. I called to order flowers for my mother's 97th birthday. I found out at the end of ordering that this is not a brick and motor store...she's some independent, online florist. That gave me "pause" but it was too late, I had already ordered. I should say, I may be a bit more critical than the average person because I myself had been a floral designer. So, I first told her I did not like the style of flowers stuffed short in a vase. I would like a more open, free style arrangement. I requested the order to be in blues and lavenders and it not that, in pinks. The cost was $60 plus extra for delivery. The florist offered to send a picture when it was delivered and I thought that was a nice touch. When I got the picture, I was sooo disappointed! It was short, stuffed in a vase and showed no attempt at any sense of design and it was orange, white, faded bluish white hydrangeas, and some rubrum lilies with a strand of curly willow. There was a hideous ribbon tied in a knot at the bottom of the vase with balloons on it. Later, I looked at some of the pictures on their website and there are some very nice arrangements that definitely show designer capabilities. My arrangement, on the other hand looked like a 10 year old had arranged it. I called and left a message about the ugly arrangement but never received a call back...So beware of what you get!! read more

Wow! I was scrambling around just this last Sunday morning to have a gift delivered to my mom's for her birthday - on that very day - not so easy on a Sunday and definitely few options available. About two hours into my effort and not satisfied with any of the limited options I gave Necia (Petal People Florist) a call based on yelp reviews. Not only did she promise me she could put something together and deliver within a few hours but she gave me choices from the available flowers she had on hand and she probed me for the bouquet style I thought my mom would like. Furthermore, she provided me the baseline price which was affordable and she didn't push me to spend more - I was able to spend more at my own discretion and not based on coercion. She was clear and precise over the phone and in discussing the details. I greatly appreciate this. My mom is not an easy person to please. She is Dutch and she has high standards, especially when it comes to floral arrangements. Well, last night she emails me about the beautiful flower arrangement she received and today she calls me and further conveys that the arrangement was impressive to her. Oddly, I had not forgotten my mom's birthday, I just couldn't figure out what to get her during the proceeding weeks and all the way up to the morning of - leading to my classic mastery of 'procrastination'.
