My wonderful partner Chad decided I needed pampering for my birthday (Jan. 10th), and so tasked me with finding a spa, or the like to get an appointment... Seeing as it was last minute, I knew it was going to be a challenge. I found the Blo Blow Dry Bar and saw that you could set up an appointment fairly easily last minute to get a wash and scalp massage, and at a pretty reasonable price. I decided that I'd just get the whole shebang, and get my hair styled and my makeup done too. Then I wouldn't have to burden myself with doing any of that on my birthday. The woman who took care of me was wonderful! She asked what the special occasion was, and I let her know that my partner was pampering me for my birthday. She washed my hair with a lovely scalp massage, and asked if I wanted to add any hair treatments, which I did because hey, it was my birthday. The one she put on my hair made it so soft, and since I don't have a salon appointment scheduled until February, it will hopefully keep my hair fairly healthy until then. I loved how she styled my hair, which gave it tons of body. I actually think it looked even better later on that day, and the next day. The makeup was done by the same person. She was very complimentary about my skin and face. I'm very particular about how my makeup (and hair actually) and done. I thought she went a little overboard on how much makeup she put on, but that's probably just my opinion. In the pictures the makeup looks very well done, which makes sense due to the fact that they are used to doing wedding makeup, and there's a lot of photo taking at weddings. For daily wear, it's just too much makeup. I ended up wiping some off just so I didn't look too made up for going on errands and the like. Overall, it was a great experience. It ended up being quite a bit more money than I originally thought it was going to be, but most of it was worth it. I took my daughter here for my birthday, and we definitely didn't have a great experience. The staff was very crabby, my daughter was even afraid to talk. She got mermaid waves and they fell out within 2 hours of leaving the salon. I got curls and my hair is scorched-it smells terrible. I asked about heat protectant and they said of course they use it. Maybe she shouldn't have held the curling iron on my hair at such a high heat for so long-just a thought. I just had the most incredible two days with the Blo Cherry Hills ladies! We were in town for a Red Rocks show and also planned for what turned out to be a surprise engagement photo shoot, and wanted my hair to be on point. Thankfully, I found Maria and Kiara at Blo, and they made sure I looked stunning. On the first day, Maria created a beautiful boho style updo- I had strangers coming up to me at the show to compliment my hair the whole night. The next day, Kiara did my blowout and styling. I felt absolutely fabulous and she managed to perfectly match the look I was going for. Both days, I left the salon super happy, which really comes through in the photos - all thanks to Maria and Kiara's outstanding skills and awesome personalities. Bait and switch pricing I prefer not leaving negative reviews, but I have sent 2 emails trying to resolve this with absolutely no response. I went in for a regular blow dry, which is $55. Upon check out, I was told my bill was $70. When I questioned this the receptionist said it was for "extra time". When I got home, I reviewed their website. Extra time is considered 1 hour and 15 minutes. My appointment was at 3:45PM, and I was checking out at 4:38PM. I'm not sure if the stylist took me back at exactly 3:45, or if it was after. Had I known I needed a timer out, I would have. Therefore, I was there for less than an hour total. I was hoping this was a mistake which is why I reached out twice via email. Fun blowout and amazing service! When you come in they have just about every refreshment imaginable- coffee, tea, la croix, champagne, and wine. It feels like a spa day! I came in with dirty hair wanting a fun loose curls date look, and that is what I got! My hair girl was the sweetest and so fun to talk to! I brought my daughter here for a blow out. Once a month they do free blow outs for adults and children with disabilities. This is something many of them would never experience. I saw several ladies also get the full make up artist thing. They were all beaming with pride. My daughter played her part playing the primaddona. And she looked so beautiful with the full blow out. I really debated writing this review because I really do like the stylists at Blo and think a lot of them do a fantastic job. That being said, there is an extremely high turnover and if the way they treat their customers is any indication to how they treat their staff, I understand why. I was a member of Blo for well over a year, and not to brag or anything, but I think I was a pretty good client. I came in several times a month if not weekly for blowouts, never cancelled, was always on time, never no-showed, almost always tipped 25%....anyways, their standard blowout is 45 minutes, which personally I did not like or felt like I looked polished after 45 minutes so on their website you have the option to book extras to that get you a 55 minute blowout. I pretty much always did this, paid extra for little add ons for the 55 minute blowout. None of these things took a lot of time mind you, they were mostly 2-3 min scalp massages or a spray on glorified leave in conditioner. Well, as I was leaving my appointment last week the receptionist let me know that in addition to what I pay extra for each service ($10-$15) they would be charging me an additional $10 per blowout for having long difficult hair. Now, I have hair that about 2 inches past my shoulder and completely average thickness, very mediocre "basic" hair. I have ZERO hair extensions, all of my ordinary hair is my own. I was shocked and asked a manager to call me. $20 to $25 extra for a blowout seemed a little excessive! When the manager called me I was completely blown away by the customer service, or lack there of. Three things really stood out to me in the conversation. First she told me that while all her staff loves me she has "no clue, no idea" who I am. She kept repeating this to me as if she was trying to insinuate that I was some nobody. Now I am of the belief that it shouldn't matter if you're Ciara in Cherry Hills or wash dishes in Cherry Hills, you should still be treated with respect. Apparently Blo doesn't agree with me on this. Second, when I told her I would be cancelling my membership because the price hike was outrageous considering I already pay extra for extra time she told me that was ok, they have new customers book every day. Definitely know how to make people feel special! My favorite part of the conversation though was when she told me my blowout that day took an hour and 15 minutes. My blowout started promptly at 11:45am, that would mean I was there getting my hair done until 1pm. This is comical. I have photos of myself with my baby daughter at my house at 1pm that day. I also have phone call receipts from 11:41am when I walked into my appointment (and waited for 4 minutes for my stylist) and at 12:40pm when I was in my car calling my husband. Proving my appointment took 55 minutes - exactly what I paid for! Go figure! Maybe if you're "somebody" in Cherry Hills they treat you well and with respect but if you're a normal paying customer with normal hair, do yourself a favor and go somewhere else! PS. I left this review on google too which they obviously paid to have taken down so hopefully they can't pull the same nonsense with Yelp! read more

As predicted from reviews on this site, definite upcharge. My daughter treated me to a blowout today. Both of us had 45-minute sessions for $55.00 each. My tech started on time. My daughter's tech ran a few minutes late. We both ended at the 45-minute timeframe. However, the bill included a $15.00 "extended time" extra charge. Who knows which tech upcharged? I called the next day from the hospital to receive a refund for the cancelation fee, and I was told that I would have to speak with the owner who wasn't there. Spelling my name wrong is already an unprofessional way to start things off, but the rest of the text message is beyond unprofessional. What did they expect me to do? Sigh. I hate leaving negative reviews but this was our first blow dry bar experience and I was less than impressed. I will start off by saying I LOVED the stylists (girl and guy) who did our hair. They were super sweet, friendly, and professional which is why I didn't want to leave a review at all but I wish I could get our money back. I took my 3 year old here to get our hair done before maternity pictures since I'm 32 weeks pregnant and exhausted. It cost us $130 to walk out the door and I still had to do our hair entirely when we got home. I have very thick hair so I knew it wouldn't be done in 45 minutes and I put that in the notes when booking our appointments and was fine paying the $10 or $15 for each additional 15 minutes. While getting our hair done, the front desk girl kept coming up to our stylists about every 10 minutes to "check in" and see if they were almost done. I wanted a braid for my daughter and I but the guy doing her hair was rushed and forgot. No biggie, the girl doing my hair did braids for us and she was super sweet about it but both of our braids fell out within 30 minutes so that was a waste of $30. Lol It felt *very* rushed and not relaxing. My hair did not look good when I left and my daughters curls were already out about ten minutes after her stylist finished. We were offered a drink when we first walked in and given one mini water bottle but other than that, nothing. It was fun to see my daughter excited over her "salon" day but I will definitely not be back and very easily could have done our hair the way I wanted at home for free. When it came time to do makeup one girl said she doesn't know how to color match foundation (red flag?). Another girl said she only does eyelashes. I had a similar experience as other reviewers. I have a shoulder length bob that I like to wear wavy/curly. I use a 1 inch curling iron at home and it comes out pretty curly. Instead of modern waves/curls, I ended up with a bouncy, round looking Sarah Palin bob. Too fluffy and old-lady like, with only the ends curled. I just had my brows microbladed and can't get them wet so instead of washing my hair in the sink at home, I thought I'd try this place. I asked for beach waves and I got flat hair and a clear lack of ability to style bangs. I wasn't offered to look at the menu, in fact I didn't even realize one existed until I was done. Everyone was very nice, however, so I just kind of wanted to pay and get out of there before I became rude. I still left a 20% tip, but honestly, could've done better myself at home. I had been thinking about coming for awhile since they are located just a five minute drive from my house but the $49 made me really question if it was worth it. I finally decided to go as a birthday present to myself. I didn't make an appointment so I was nervous about getting in but lucky for me they had someone available at 10:15 on a Saturday morning. My only other experience at a blow dry bar was Drybar maybe two years ago. Compared to Drybar, it was much smaller and way more of a "beauty shop" feel. While Drybar felt more spa like and open. Nothing wrong with either design but definitely different vibes. First thing to happen at Drybar was they brought a drink menu. Every blow out came with a complimentary drink: coffee, tea, mimosa, etc. I thought that was the case here at Blo but I was never offered anything. Drybar has a fairly extensive "hair menu" to choose from. I know nothing about hair and never do my own so having a lot of options was nice. Blo only had 2-3 options. I chose the Hollywood style and loved it regardless. I hate that I'm comparing the two places but at the same price and same service provided, it's hard not to. Drybar, I felt a little more "catered to". Not that I'm a fussy customer but they refilled my coffee multiple times and checked in on me throughout the process. While my hair turned out fabulous (thanks Irene!), for $49, I might as well go to Drybar where I get a drink included. Maybe that's silly, but $49 is a lot so I want it to be a full on experience! I will probably still return to Blo as it's so close to my house and Drybar is much farther. Still a great experience. My hair looked amazing and Irene was great. read more

In fact, because of that mainly - I'm not interested in going again. My hair was not voluminous and the curls fell out a couple of hours later. First review ever and it's a good one! My visit to the newly opened Blo Blow Dry Bar was fantastic. I easily made my appointment online, as did a friend so we could meet up and get our glam on. #HairGoals When I arrived, I was promptly greeted and checked in by a super-friendly stylist. I was pretty much a fan after she said, "Would you like a glass of Prosecco?" Um, yes please! (Meanwhile, my stylist was just finishing with another client and I was a few minutes early, so this stylist quickly took me back to wash my hair.) Afterward, my stylist was ready so we all did a quick review of my hair, my hair goals and which styles I liked. We settled on a mash-up of Holly-Would and Pillow-Talk and were off to the races. My stylist, Cynthia, was personable, funny and FAST. She seemed genuinely interested in me and how I felt about my hair. In fact, the entire staff was lovely and seemed to sincerely enjoy their jobs. For example, the makeup artist, Mark, came over to offer an expert opinion on an eyelash question posed by my friend. I truly felt at ease with everyone, including the lovely owner/operator Patrice. It was evident that everyone at Blo Cherry Hills was not only terrific at their jobs but was also very happy to be there. The salon's décor was adorable too! In addition to all of the hair and makeup services, the salon stocked an excellent range of hair and makeup products. A quick check out at the front and in 45 minutes I was done. They won't use any products in order not to spend more money as instructed by the owner and then when u mention the hair didn't last they see it as a complaint rather than fix the issue.
