I booked an appointment for hair and makeup hours in advance and when I showed up, I was told it would be just a couple minutes. Thirty minutes later, I asked how long it would be and she said 15 - 20 mins. My appointment was at 5:30 and a lady came in for her 6:00 pm appointment and they took her before me. I have been going to this location for two years; Management/ownership clearly changed about 4 months ago and is going down hill fast. I did their membership program and have referred 5+ customers to them over the years and even planned to do wedding events with them but will now be cancelling. - 3 of my last 6 appts they've rescheduled +15 minutes despite what I have in text and email as confirmation of appt times- not usually an issue but has caused undue time stress for events. Knowing what I know now; this is 100% so they can charge you over time if they are running behind instead of owning their busy schedule. - I had a hair and makeup appt before a company Christmas party- I was pressured by the woman doing my makeup to do it before my hair even though I 1. Booked them separately for that reason that I wanted hair done and washed before make up and 2. Even confirming at my last appt that hair would be washed prior to makeup. I stood my ground and said I would not do makeup first and the woman scoffed and stormed off to gossip on the back until she came out and agreed to wash my hair so she could get started cuz the stylist was running behind. The person who did my hair burnt himself 3 times, i had never seen there before that day, so my guess was he was new and probably not ready to be doing hair but it was busy so they pushed him to and it showed because i left with 1 inch of my hair curled on the bottom; by the time we made it to the party 2/3 hours later my hair was flat so much so i got comments on how smooth and straight my hair was -_- i came home and my fiancé literally looked at me and asked if i still needed to do my makeup- so that explains how that went. I left a review when promoted through the app and was told to get a complimentary blow out next time I was in the store - I've been twice with no action on this luckily as a member I have credits still so not a big deal - today was my final appt with them before I cancelled my membership and refused to book anymore with them. AFTER my appt was completed I was told for the first time (outside of their standard policy that everyone receives via text or email) that I was being charged a additional $15 for "extra time" - never in my 2 years of being a member and going here have I been charged extra time. My hair is thick but is barely shoulder length and most experienced stylists have been able to complete my appt in 45 minutes ago- they started hiring new stylists 2-3 months ago and now it's been taking longer (not sure how it's my fault stylists are inexperienced to complete a normal style/blowout in 45 mins) when I explained this to the girl at the desk she said oh no problem and took the charge off. AFTER I left the salon I get a call saying they are going to charge me anyway. I made it clear I don't authorize the payment when she tried to say I was late to my appt... when I was in the lobby waiting for my stylist for 5 minutes? After arriving the required 5 mins early? Then my stylist took 20+ minutes to wash my hair because she was talking to everyone else while doing it. The manager on the phone could not give me a reason as to why suddenly I'm being charged this after 2 years of not being charged extra time when the only thing that has changed is THEIR stylist have gone down in caliber. It's a wonder that my two favourites have both LEFT due to "new management" in the last 6 months. They has no problem doing my hair in the allotted time. Congrats to blo bar for losing a long time member and additional customer - I will not be returning and taking my wedding event business elsewhere as well. If I could give this location a zero, I would. Key Tip: Stay away from the Irving and Flower Mound locations of blo, if you are looking for a blow dry bar experience that's relaxing. All I got here was extra stress on top of an already busy and stressful week. The Quick Version: Stylists Ok, but Owner Untrustworthy All the Tea: I scheduled an appointment for hair and makeup a few hours before I was scheduled to speak at a National virtual conference on Saturday, 29 May. Then, on Thursday, 27 May, I received a text reminder saying that my appointment was for Friday, 28 May. I called as soon as I saw it and left a voicemail with the store to clear up the confusion and get my appointment properly placed on Saturday morning. I had a very busy and stressful week and was looking forward to this opportunity to relax and reset ahead of speaking to a large audience. I had switched my appointment from Wednesday to Thursday the week before easily and anticipated no problems straightening out this confusion, especially as someone who had recently signed up for a membership. Instead, I (1) received no confirmation that my message was received and (2) received a text message from the stylist that indicated that she was reminding me about the appointment and she could fit me in still if I got there within a certain amount of time. Confused, I called the salon to straighten out the mixup about the appointment being in their calendar for the wrong day and expected it to be a short and easy conversation. Instead, the person on the phone was dismissive and completely lacked a willingness to listen to me about the mix-up. My entire goal was simply to get my appointment switched to the correct date and time, but she refused to hear me out. She kept saying things about their policies, such as no cancellations within 24 hours and other non-sense that had nothing to do with the situation at hand. All of this was to justify charging me $25 for a no show fee. To be clear, I couldn't care less about this fee - what bothers me is that there was a mix up and she would not even listen to me explain the situation. I not only wanted the services - I needed them to put my best face forward for my speaking event plus, I wouldn't want the stylists to lose out on the tip and pay from the services that I was supposed to be getting. The woman answering the phone was so rude that I asked to speak to her manager or the owner - it turns out that she is the manager / owner -- and she lied and said she wasn't. She also kept saying that she didn't get my voicemail which I know I left. Then, I went down to the store to try to straighten things out and the stylist who had booked my appointment tried to tell me that she always confirms the date and time at the time of booking. I tell y'all this - I felt completely gaslit at this moment. At this point, I was so frustrated that I asked her to cancel my membership plan and mentioned to her how rude the person who answered the phone was. I told her I wanted the manager/owner's information so I could contact them about this --- and get this, the woman on the phone IS the owner of the Irving and the Flower Mound location. This woman LIED - about being the owner, about getting my voicemail and wouldn't listen / help fix the booking mixup and get me in for Saturday at all. What's worse is my membership can't be canceled without her approval. The stylist promised she'd make sure the plan got canceled once the owner was at the store, but I can't trust that given the owner's behavior on the phone. So, now I am going to have to contact my bank to block charges for this business because the owner is so completely untrustworthy. My advice: Skip the Flower Mound and Irving locations of blo altogether. They aren't as well kept as other locations I've been to and clearly are not run at the brand standard. (They even have promotional signs for free blowouts up for offers that expired over a year ago - and when asked about it the response I received was "oh yeah, we keep forgetting to take that down, that was from the beginning of the pandemic to get people in." So this sign is a year old and in that entire year, they haven't stayed on top of the promo material well enough to change out the signs that their corporate offices provide? This sounds like either another example of smoke and mirrors dishonesty at play or more evidence of how little care is given to how the shops are run.) read more

I made the appointment online for 9:45 the next day, when I arrived at 9:40 the lady at reception told me that my appointment was for 10 - even though I had received a text and email confirming 9:45. I was pressed for time as I was on my way to the airport so time was of the essence. My blowout was ok and the hairdresser was super friendly and accommodating. After I left I received a phone call while driving saying that they needed my credit card number again so they could run the tip. I told them I would call them back after I got to the airport. I usually go to the Dry Bar for my blowouts when I'm in the DFW area, but went to blo in a pinch because it was so close to the airport. Next time I will plan ahead and go to the Dry Bar. read more

Just a warning to others.... I was 7-8 minutes late for my appointment. The receptionist first said that I was greater than 10 minutes late and they could not accommodate the appointment . When I pointed out I was clearly under 10 minutes, she changed her statement and said that if someone is 5-10 minutes late, they have the power to cancel/ reschedule . Their late policy CLEARLY states they can reschedule if GREATER than 10 minutes late. She obviously didn't want to help me that day- I was forced to take an appointment 1.5 hours later...she was a bit rude and I found the entire experience upsetting - mainly because my schedule was disrupted needlessly . I had to go to a wedding and wanted a deep conditioning treatment and a hair style. I've never been to a blo place before and I thought I should try one out. I got stuck with a girl that has shaky hands ( I won't say her name). First off she only put the deep conditioning treatment on my ends??? Why I don't know!!!!??? Then when I got to the chair she was blow drying my hair funny, from the top to bottom, I've never had anyone do that. Then she started curling the top of my head of hair before the rest of my hair was dry. By the time it was done I stood up to look at it and my hair was already straight and flat as a broad. I was pissed. I told her hey my hair is flat and straight! She curled 1 part but my whole head of hair was messed up. She just said I'll just put some hair spray on it. No that doesn't work. Washed my hair cold, didn't ask any questions, while blow drying burnt my scalp to tears and I left looking like Sherley Temple... asked for loose beach waves. It was so far off I left, went home, and washed my hair so I could redo it. They also recommended a deep conditioning because my hair was "dry".
