I paid $40 for a dry style, and the entire appointment was finished in just 6 minutes. The curls fell out immediately after leaving, and when I asked if I could pay extra to have clip-in extensions put in, I was told no because it would "take too long." My appointment was at 1:00, and by 1:06 I was already out the door. $40 for 6 minutes, with nothing to show for it. Between the unwelcoming staff, rushed service, and poor results, this was a complete waste of time and money. I would not recommend this place to anyone read more

Been to this place multiple times with no issues or cancellations or being late. Called 2 hours before my appointment today because it was raining really bad where I was and I was nervous that I was going to get into an accident. Spoke to the woman at the front desk and she said that she had to charge me a $25 late cancel fee because I was canceling last minute. It was either risk my life to get to this appointment or pay the $25. These cancellation fees are insane. If I was a no show I would understand, but giving 2 hours notice for my safety seems fair. But there is a parking deck on Morgan - you can validate your ticket and get discount parking which is more appealing for people who don't live close. Staff is welcoming and warm Inside is bright, clean and modern. Blow outs are $35 on Mondays and Tuesdays ....and $45 the rest of the week. Also nice incentive I had Ilene. She was great. Friendly and chatty which made the experience comfortable. I had compliments the next day at work Will definitely be back. Can't believe I haven't reviewed Blo ! This has become my go-to blow dry bar. The interior is clean, sleek and modern. The aesthetic is super girly and I love how everything is pink and white. I also love that you are always offered a glass of champagne while you get your hair done. No better way to relax! But of course, the best part about the Blo experience is the blow out. I've had blow outs with numerous staff members here and they have always been great. I usually see Eileen and she is a master of her craft and a sweetheart. Blow outs are standard price - around 40 and for an extra twenty you can add on extensions which I'll do for special occasions. In addition to blow outs they also offer make up services. I've never done this, but would definitely try it out in the future for a wedding or special occasion. Jersey City has a ton of different salons, but this is really the only exclusive blow dry bar that you can find in the area. I've had many blow outs at Dry Bar and I can definitely say that Blo is far better. I'm a blow out fanatic, so hopefully my opinion counts for something! So glad I came across this Yelp opportunity. I had called a week in advance to schedule an evening appointment. With pleasure the receptionist accommodated my time and date option. Parking on a Monday early evening was a breeze. Truly expected to have difficulties with parking during rush hour. There was sufficient parking right out front of this location. As I walked in and checked in with the receptionist as she greeted me and asked to take my coat to hang. She hung my coat and informed the beautician of my arrival. The beautician was amazing! She was so heart warming as she introduced herself with great pleasure. She walked me through the process every step of the way. She explained all products used. She professionally asked how and what I wanted. I got a simple wash and blow out; yet this beautician made me feel like I was getting an exclusive blow out. Loved how my hair was parted to make sure each strand was blowed exactly how it was requested. My hair was left feeling soft and looking naturally healthy. Martina you were awesome! This salon is professionally ran. The entire salon is highly clean and well kept. You will find prices located around the place so you have no question in pricing. I have frequented BLo Blow Dry Bar in Jersey City several times. Always greeted with a smile, never wait long for an appointment. The shampoo is so relaxing. I explain the texture of my hair to my stylist and tell them I usually need texture spray or hair spray to hold my curls. They always recommend great products and I even use the Unite shampoo and conditioners at home. It's really a treat to get my hair and make up done. Absolute worst costumer service I have ever experienced. From the moment I called to schedule an apt the manager had an attitude on the phone. At the apt, quoted me one price, then charged me TWICE the amount. The manager speaks with a such a tone and is so rude. This was a really average experience. I've been hoping for powerhouse to get a blow dry bar so I went into this really hoping to love it. Unfortunately I don't think I'll be returning. Pros: The receptionist did a great job. They were upbeat, called to remind me of the appointment and got me a cold glass of water. The shop is super convenient & located close to the PATH. Everything is brand new and squeaky clean. The cost is the same as drybar ($10 less on Mondays) and unlike drybar they were willing to email me a receipt. Experience: I arrived 10 minutes early for my appointment. The appointment ahead of me ran 20 minutes over so I had to wait for a while. As wine/movies are not offered its a bit tiresome. The shampooing chairs were not at the right height for the sink. The shampoo smells cloyingly like cookies which I did not find pleasant. Then the stylist faced me away from the mirror and proceeded to ignore what I asked for. She did not pin up my hair & my shirt got soaked. She explained to me at the end that she was confident she could achieve the same look in less time by doing things "her way". My hair was flat within 4 hours of the blowout. She rushed my appointment (which started late!) so the girl after me would not have to wait. My hair usually takes about 80 minutes at drybar; this appointment was 40 minutes shorter and it shows! I don't think the convenience is balanced by the sub-par blowouts. Maybe when they get more stylists in the location to better stagger appointments it will be worth revisiting. read more

It is the cleanest salon I have ever been to the point where it seems sterile! It is big and relaxing. They don't blast music. It feels like a spa. The customer service is impeccable and on-point. The stylist, Mary, did my hair incredibly. Their product line is great and doesn't reek of perfumes like other smelly high-end products. Literally the greatest hair discovery of my life. They don't answer their phones so you can advise them that you're running late. When they call you they tell you immediately that they're going to have to cut your service down. Before even looking at my hair or asking me what I wanted done, they told me that the stylist could no longer do my hair because I was late 30 minutes late. I only wanted a round brushing of my curtain bangs because I'm unable to style them myself since getting them cut. I could have done the rest myself. But they didn't take the time to ask or talk to me. Such a, sorry for the bad word, bitchy attitude about the whole thing. I called to make an appointment for my 5 years old for a braid today. They had done the same braid last year, no issue for $10 and everyone was amazing. Today the girl answering the phone was clueless and admitted she was new. I explained the service I had received last time, she booked it. 5 min later calls me back stating I can be booked for a blow out mini and braid but they can't do just a braid (per her manager). I had this done before without any issue. WHY THE CHANGE?? My daughter is 5 and does not need a blowout. Why would I want to subject her hair to HEAT if it's not needed!! Braid took them 10 min last time. I paid $10 and tipped another $10. I'm happy to pay $15-$20 for the braid but don't try and sell me on a service I do not need. You are basically telling me if I don't get the blowout I cannot get the braid! Very poor customer service and trying to cheat customers. Previous management was much better. I booked an updo a la carte, and even stopped in to see if they could do what I had in mind. They followed up by emailing me about for a photo, which I appreciated. Then, they told me that wasn't a service they offered, and instead they could do one of their 7 blowout styles. If the updo a la carte is just the same as their standard blowout, why is it listed separately on their website with the instruction to "choose-your-own style prerogative, bring us a pic or do an interpretive dance. We'll get it"? And why is it $30 more? I understand if curls gathered into a loose bun would be beyond their skill set, I'm glad they were honest about their limitations, and I really hate posting negative reviews, but I thought someone should clarify what they offer. They say on their website you can book in advance 0800am hair appointment that is correct I did it for my wedding than I did my hair and it came out stunning ! Would definitely choose them again. They can do makeup on many different ethnicities I am saying this because I'm Filipino Spanish Chinese and I personally witnessed them doing makeup and hair for woman who were Hispanic darker skin tones , Caucasian, and myself perfectly. I booked a standard blow out with a head massage add-on online. Day of, since it was my 1st time (the website isn't completely clear), I called to confirm that a wash was included. I arrived 15 minutes early, the salon only had one other customer, so they were able to accomodate me immediately. I was offered water upon my arrival too. It started with a consultation, the wash, blow dry, flat iron, then ended with hair spray. My curls held from my 2pm appt to my 6pm event because the stylist did make them tighter as I requested, and the stylist advised told me to later run my hands through to loosen them. Negatives were 1) I didn't actually receive the head massage add-on, so I had to tell the receptionist that before getting charged for it, so there is some miscommunication there. 2) The wash wasn't really a good thorough head wash - it was just a rinse with some shampoo on the sides of my head, and I dont think conditioner was really used. 3) I don't really remember my stylist's name, she wasn't very welcoming, but at least did ask a few questions to understand the reason why I came into the salon. I wasn't completely wow-ed by the customer service and the standard blow out itself. I could use the money spent to get myself a flat iron and do it myself. read more

This was my first time trying a Blo Blow Dry Bar and I must say that I truly loved everything about the salon and the service. Their place is very clean, modern, and very bright. The staff at this location are very friendly and welcoming. Any questions you may have they will answer them for you. The main thing that I really like is that they have a set price, which is great. I have long hair and there have been places that because of the length I get charged a lot more. So when I went to Blo Blow Dry bar for a Yelp Elite event and found this out I was ecstatic about it. There have been times where I had to pay 65+ just for a wash and a simple style which is ridiculous. I am so glad that they are very accommodating and took these things into consideration. Blo opens at 9, but will open as early as 7 by appointment. The price is great: $45 regardless of your hair length or texture. Personally, I've got long, very frizzy hair, so I've come to expect up-charges.. but there were none to be found at Blo! Despite the early hour, everyone there was in a great mood! My hair was blown out very nicely by Yajaira, the price was unbeatable, and I had a great time speaking with everyone there. Honestly not sure how this place has such good reviews. I went in to have my hair blown out and curled 2 weeks ago. I left with a sloppy blow out and no curls. The stylist claimed my hair was too thick, and told me how it needs to be cut the next time I get my hair cut. I'm sorry... but I didn't come in to ask for her opinion on my hair! Never have I experienced such lack of professionalism. I reached out to Blo via their website to see if we could resolve this issue. I was initially contacted by their corporate office who cc'd the franchise owner, Marcelo. I received no response from Marcelo, so I reached out again via email - still no response. This is really a below average place if you are someone who likes volume and bounce in your hair after a blowdry. Gave this place a try 2 times, booked mainly for the reason they open at 9am which none of the other places in jc do. Regretted both times. They use some kind of a mouse in your hair which makes it super oily and flat, hair will last maybe 2 hours. Have tried tons of other places in jc and all of them do a fabulous job of blow drying. Nice staff but average experience. I went on Friday & used my debit card, & there are two pending charges tying up funds in my checking account all weekend. I called & was told they are "working on this but only 1 charge should go through". The girl who styled me was also unable to curl my hair with the brush while blowing out. She said she had to blow it out then use a curling iron. This is a sign of a truly amateur stylist. Decent blowout but not the look I was going for.
