So it was my wife's birthday and I thought let's get her hair done... she was really excited and thought it would be even better if our daughter could get it done too.. So there you have it. Birthday pampering and mom & daughter bonding... Expectations are high and results were mixed. My daughter's hair came out amazing. The birthday girl... not so much. My wife's stylist was running late so they washed her hair and she sat... and she sat... hair dried. When she finally had her turn, my wife showed the late stylist a picture of how she had it... not a model... not a different cut... just how she styles it. When she was done, she looked like an extra from the 80s show Dallas. Big hair... all she needed were shoulder pads. I'm embarrassed to say I came here for a bridal consultation.. Makeup was COMPLETELY unwearable! Lashes coming off, eyeshadow unblended, winged liner was horrible, it was uneven and going downward. (I had her fix it and it looked even worse so I asked her to remove it) foundation didn't match me at all. it looked like a 5 year old did my makeup. I wouldn't be surprised if the girl had never done makeup before in her life. It was shameful to do that to someone and let them walk out looking that bad. To think that you would be okay letting someone look like that on their wedding day is extremely upsetting. I ran home and wiped it all off as fast as I could. The hair was fine. Worst place ever. The color match for makeup was to orange. My false eyelashes were not trimmed. They used no setting spray so makeup was sliding off after a couple of hours. I ended up taking it all off before my event. I can't believe I tipped her but my daughter was in the middle of her blowout and she said I looked fine but she was only being nice as she was having hers done by another stylist. I have been in the habit of swinging by DryBar whenever I need a blow out. They are always very nice there, but they have a few habits that drive me crazy! First, they always seem to be in a hurry which makes them not careful with my hair. I have experience a ton of breakage and dryness at more than one DryBar salon. Second, they are always trying to hard sell their products to me. I have been a Drybar customer for years, booking online. Stop with the hard sell!! Anyway, for these reasons I decided to give Blo Blo Dry Bar a try. I am so glad I did!!!!! Tonya is my person here. My hair is very processed. She takes the time to be gentle with my hair to prevent breakage. She pays attention to detail. She makes sure not to leave little frizzies around my face when she uses the flat iron. That was fine, they were able to get me in the same day. The woman who did my hair was very sweet and talkative. I asked her to blow dry my hair straight. Then she asked me if I wanted it to curl under or outward. I said more outward. So, she had a little trouble with that, which was fine so going under a little bit was it OK for me. Still, I really wanted her to flat iron all of my hair because it's very humid here right now. I asked her twice to flat iron my hair. She did flat iron parts of my hair to make it lay down, but she did not flat iron all of my hair. Consequently I ended up with a style which was pretty, but I feel a little dated. And this morning when I woke up my hair has way too much curl in it. That's why am giving three stars. I'm not feeling like I look my best the second day after a blowout. I can blow dry my hair this way all day long. I want someone to flat iron it and make it look so awesome that I know I couldn't accomplish that same look at home. To be honest this is the worst i've ever looked after walking out of a hair salon. I've always horror stories about people hating their hair and crying as they walk out of the door and today, i experienced that for the first time. For the price i paid, my hair looks just about the same it did as i walked in, if not worse. My curtain bangs look fried and heat damaged and I have somewhere to be in less than an hour. This was my first experience using a blow out bar. I normally have my hairstylist do my hair for events, but the wedding I was going to was on a Sunday which she never works on Sunday's. I came into the salon and the hairstylist asked me what hairstyle I would like. I told her that I normally get big spirally curls with a hair straightener, and then showed her a picture of my hair curled in the same way. As the hair stylist was working, I could tell it wasn't looking the way I wanted. And it's wasn't just that it wasn't what I wanted but it looked bad overall. Very kinky, and half of it uncurled because she was taking too big of chunks of hair to curl at a time. She also suggested we not wash my hair so that the curl would stay which I am not used to, whenever I get a blow out I always get my hair washed. So my roots were looking oily and she said they didn't have dry hair shampoo to fix it. Once she got to the front I asked her if we could do something different with the front because at this point it looked awful. She was nice about it and figured out a way to get the curls to lay down a different way that didn't look as bad. When I got home, I noticed several pieces in the back were completely straight, and overall it didn't look professionally done. I had to go back in with the hair straightener to re-make some curls or take some kinks out. It looked as if I had just had a girlfriend of mine quickly throw in a couple curls in my hair. I felt like I looked like a hot mess, and didn't feel beautiful at all. The hairstylist who did my hair was never rude, and even though she could tell I was unhappy she really did try to fix it for me. I just think overall if I'm paying for a $45 blowout (which I do not mind at all, for a professional blow out that is a very fair price), I expect it to look really professional and beautiful which it definitely didn't. I can curl my hair at home, but I wanted to go to a salon to get that extra special blow out look and feel beautiful, which I absolutely did not feel the entire day.
