I believe it's relatively new because I've never noticed it before on Block Island and I tend to notice ice cream places. Then again it is sort of tucked away in a corner and could be hard to see. The store is small, with a counter for the scream and various candies and other treats scattered around. A couple of tables inside and a courtyard overlooking the ocean on the outside. Saying that the view is great is actually an understatement. We didn't bother with the candy but the ice cream was absolutely incredible. Smooth and rich and no doubt containing a astronomical amount of calories and fat, just the way great ice cream should be. They don't have vast amount of different types but enough variety to satisfy anybody except those looking for something very unusual. There aren't many things better in life than sitting in a beautiful spot over looking the ocean and devouring great ice cream. Even though it was hoter than hell when we were on the island, a cool breeze was coming off the water and combined with the richness and algidity of the great ice cream the world was a perfect place. At least our little part of the world. Their are lots of ice cream places in the world but The Scoop Shack is one of those special places that I will always seek out when I'm on Block Island. Everyone has heard of Ben and Jerry's and you know what to expect when going. I actually think the actual Ben and Jerry started the company in New England. Not sure if that is relevant but it is a fast fact for everyone at home. The ice cream here is packed with both flavor and calories. We went with some sort of cookie dough flavor in a small cone. Everything about it worked. The ice cream packs a punch and the cone was fresh. The paper holder did stick to the cone which was annoying but all good. There are a few ice cream shops by the port so not sure which one is the best but this one was good. All I know is you can't go wrong with Ben and Jerry's.

We got a bunch of other things too, like General Tso's Chicken, coconut rice, crab rangoons, coconut shrimp, and a shrimp sushi roll. everything was really good and fresh. The coconut rice was a great side dish, and the crab rangoons were gone in no time. The drinks were also really good, One thing though, they didn't put a lot of liquor in them, but they were still fun to drink. Our server was really great, and did a fantastic job, especially since we had a big group of 12 people. We get that it can be tough to handle a table that size. The only problem we had was with the timing of the food. Some of us got our appetizers and main courses before the others had even gotten their appetizers. It wasn't a huge issue, but it's something the kitchen could work on to make sure big groups feel like they're eating together. It would be great if they could improve that, so everyone can enjoy their meal at the same time. I would definitely go back to TigerFish. We visited midweek, so it was fairly quiet. The restaurant is conveniently located just a short walk from the ferry and offers plenty of seating, both indoors and outdoors. Service was fast, friendly, and especially helpful when it came to identifying which menu items were vegan or could be modified, which we really appreciated. We ordered the B.Y.O. Tofu Spring Rolls and the Pork Potstickers. Both appetizers were generously sized. The spring rolls were fresh and flavorful, but having to assemble them myself at the table was a bit messy and took away from the enjoyment. I would have preferred them to come fully prepared. That said, they were still quite tasty. The pork potstickers, on the other hand, were a standout and an easy favorite of the meal. One downside was that the doors were open to enjoy the beautiful weather, but that also meant we were battling flies throughout our meal, which was a little distracting. Overall, Tigerfish was a great find with good food, knowledgeable service, and a convenient location. Despite a couple of minor drawbacks, we enjoyed our visit and will definitely return on a future trip to Block Island.

Not too much smoke either, which I liked. You could taste it, but it didn't take over the sandwich. It was topped with BBQ sauce, mustard and crispy onion straws. I wasn't sure about the mustard at first, but it worked. Added a little tang against the sweeter BBQ sauce without overpowering everything. And of course...the onion straws. Hard to go wrong there. The fries were really crispy and seemed to have a very light coating or batter on them. Whatever they did, it worked. Nothing complicated here. Good sandwich, good fries and a cool old Block Island atmosphere. Sometimes lunch doesn't need to be complicated.

I also appreciated that they used thin slices of sausage instead of sausage crumbles--it made every bite better. The brisket sandwich was also very tasty and full of flavor. My only suggestion would be to serve it on a sturdier roll, such as a Kaiser or torpedo roll, instead of white toast, since the bread fell apart pretty quickly. Overall, the food was delicious, the service was great, and the dog-friendly patio makes this a place we'll definitely visit again. I'd happily recommend Poor Man's Pub.
