Ordered mini cakes, cannolis, and American cookies for my daughters wedding. All items were delivered on time. Guests raved about how good the mini cakes were and our caterer asked for this bakeries contact info to use in the future. During our tasting appointment, we discussed that we wanted all American cookies, chocolate chip, peanut butter, oatmeal, ect and did not want any Italian cookies. They delivered all Italian cookies and no American cookies, which we did not know happened until it was time for dessert. We were very disappointed as we do not like Italian cookies. What guests didn't eat were discarded, so we found it to be a waste of money. We were sad that our guests didn't have enjoyable cookies to take home as favors. *Update- we let the bakery know about the wrong cookies and they were very apologetic and gave us a refund for the cookies. read more

I recently had the privilege of tasting not one but two cakes by Vesta at a friend's party. They were absolutely scrumptious, and I would order them myself. The first was a decadent chocolate cake, with multiple layers and lots of chocolate-y goodness. I swore I could not have another piece, but then the host brought out another cake, a strawberry mascarpone cake that tasted just like strawberry short cake. This one was my favorite, as it had lots of great strawberry chunks and was nice and light. I'm glad I found room in my belly somewhere! Very pretty, delicious cakes. read more

Vesta is a really tiny bakery with tons of different types of scones, muffins, breads, cookies, cakes and other baked goods. The whole family loves their cakes, honestly though, I'm on the fence with the cakes. Most of the cakes we've had over the last few years have been pretty dense, I like mine a little fluffier. Their cream cheese frosting on carrot cake just doesn't hit the spot for "me" but everyone in the family loves Vesta's cakes. I get a huge carrot cake every year for kids birthdays and only about 1/3 of it gets eaten cause it's so big. I will say, I do enjoy their cookies and they do a good job decorating them and making different shapes for the kids parties. Macaroons are good there. I'm a cookie guy. The hard part is the baked goods smells and having to stand in front of the cases while you wait for an order pickup. read more

Boy oh boy what a find this turned out to be and at $2/item very reasonable priced to boot. The chocolatine while not essentially French was packed with yummy dense pastry flavor, the peach danish was insanely delicious, the chocolate bomb filled with chocolate ganache was totally bomb but my all time favorite form among these All Stars was the Lemon Tart simply amazing. My company just opened an office down the street from Vesta Bakery. Apparently I've been driving by them every day for the past 2 weeks and I never noticed them before this morning. I got my usual morning coffee from Bess Eaton and decided to make a quick stop here. I was immediately greeted by a nice young lady behind the counter. She kindly explained what they had to offer (I was looking for something breakfast-y) and she suggested the apple croissant. It was only $1.75 which is a very acceptable price for a pretty big croissant. While waiting I observed their cases: filled with fresh baked breads (a couple of herby focaccias, some cheddar jalapeno loaf that looks AMAZING, other delicious looking loafs). There were freshly baked muffins and scones. Everything looks incredible and I wanted to eat it all. There was also a display on the wall of wedding cakes that looks exquisite and masterful. I got back to the office and tried my pastry. Ohhhhhhh myyyyyyyy gawd. Melt in your mouth apple cinnamony filling inside a flaky fresh croissant topped with brown sugar perfection. This was so obviously made from scratch with fresh apples. It was the perfect compliment to my morning coffee and I seriously cannot wait to come back for more. Of everything. Because everything there looks so amazing. (after I post this review I will upload pictures of the croissant) All in all, I'd say this place is a hidden gem of Westerly and if you haven't been, I'd HIGHLY recommend stopping in. The nice girl behind the counter said I stopped in at a good time (10AM) because there was still stuff left in the cases. It's not in a ideal location but once you find it you'll want to come back. Me & my son love their blueberry muffins. I salivate at the thought of their cupcakes, cinnamon buns & cheese cake. Everything is so fresh & tasty. They aren't open on Mondays or Tuesdays, just for special orders. We always get our cakes and cupcakes from Vesta. Not only do they taste unbelievable, but they are works of art at a very reasonable cost. The staff are so helpful too! Best bakery in Southern RI. We all love their freshly baked breads, cakes and pastries. Their cinnamon swirl bread is the right amount of sweet and great toasted for breakfast. The cream puffs are amazing - we've never had anything like it. We just ordered a cake and it was decorated amazingly with all these different birds on it (my son loves birds). It also tastes amazing. I highly recommend all their products as we have not gotten anything that was bad. We love their cinnamon swirl, multi grain and brioche bread as well as their cherry pie and cakes! read more

Hosted a reception for two very special people on Saturday 11/26 and wedding cake from Vesta Bakery in Westerly was scheduled to be delivered by 4 pm at the latest. Waited until the last possible minute before leaving our home @ 4:45 pm so we wouldn't hold up the ceremony and cake was delivered sometime after that and had to be left outside. Cake was very good tasting but very sloppy with black icing smeared onto white fondant in multiple places. Totally unacceptable to me especially when the owner Allyson Mansfield never offered any apologies on why cake was so late and sloppy. Running late isn't a reason EVER in this business! Update: Received apology and reason cake delivery was delayed from owner 6 days after event. I certainly understand things happen but timing is key when following up with customers to show you do care they are satisfied with their purchase especially on the most important day of their life. read more

I got cupcakes and mini cannolis from Vesta for my bf's 30th party. It smelled SO good in there, it took all my willpower not to grab a cinnamon roll. Or three. The frosting on the cupcakes was so airy and delicious, not too rich, and as I requested a "beachy" look to the cupcakes, there were little white chocolate seashells on each one. My wife and I had been told that Vesta Bakery was terrific so we decided to call them to inquire about having them do our wedding cake. My wife informed me that we had an appointment to go in and see what they had to offer. The day of the appt we arrive to find the lights out and the door locked. We were on time so we knocked to no answer. A few minutes later we call and someone answers and subsequently comes to unlock the door. We go in and talk for a few about what we're looking for. He shows us a few designs and things he can do as we talk about what we want. We settle on a design, size etc but were not offered a tasting. No biggie we thought, they were so highly recommended that it wasn't a huge concern. He writes up the order sheet of what we want and we go about our day. Fast forward a few months and my wife and I are looking at locking down all our arrangements in terms of payments, delivery times etc. We call Vesta to confirm all this and it's obvious by the questions they're asking that they have no idea who we are or what we ordered. Luckily there was enough time that we simply decided to go elsewhere. Oddly enough they called us a few weeks before the wedding again asking us what kind of cake we wanted. I'm sure they are tasty and they were friendly but it wasn't a risk we wanted to take as far as our wedding was concerned. read more

My fiance and I discovered this bakery about a year ago. He surprised me with the most amazing chocolate cake for my birthday. He got the Chocolate Mouse Cake for a party of about 20 people and everyone there said it was the most amazing dessert they had had in a very long time. The cake was moist, dense and delicious and the mouse filling and chocolate ganache complemented the cake perfectly. Since then we have returned and gotten the lemon mouse cake with raspberries which was also amazing, fresh croissants, bread and muffins. I moved to Westerly almost exactly 6 years ago and ever since I have always ordered my cakes from Vesta Bakery, at least a dozen between my family. Every time I have ordered a cake it has been amazing. I recently ordered a cake this past weekend and brought it to a surprise party for my girlfriend, to everyone's dissatisfaction the cake was terrible. Not knowing they were closed, I called on Monday to speak with someone and had to leave a message. In was contacted the next day by who I assume is the owner, Allison. She not only listened to my concerns, they refunded me the full amount. Obviously this was a fluke incident as every cake prior was perfect. This kind of cake is a favorite in our family for special occasions and at our recent gathering it was particularly divine!
