    Giant chicken sandwich
    John G.

Stopped on our way to Sonoma wine tasting and was a great choice for lunch. We had a group of 6 and we all loved the food. The Focaccia is a must start as is the guacamole and salsa. 3 of us had the beet salad and the rest of us had the biggest and best chicken sandwich ever. Some of us had the flight of wine to start our wine tasting journey!

Pup loved the farmhouse vibes outside!

Absolutely lovely spot to stop for lunch between vineyards-- and they even have their own tastings from a local winery as well! We just came for food (and a little beer between tastings) and for the dog-friendly atmosphere. The manager and our server were both wonderful, and everything we ate was delicious! I personally would've loved the Brussels a bit on the crispier side, and maybe a little heavier on the goat cheese, but still tasty and we cleaned the plate thoroughly. Boyfriend had the fried chicken sandwich, it was yummy and the fries were cooked well, but the true star of the show was my seasonal pasta, with cream sauce, kale, and pomegranate seeds! So creative and absolutely delicious. Also loved that they had a good beer selection in case you need a quick grape-break, as well as a full kids' *and* dog menu. We would definitely come back!

Read the great review so decided to try this place on a Saturday during our trip to Sonoma. The outdoor seating was beautiful and nicely decorated. The service was slow but the food was a disappointment. We ordered the baby back ribs, the meat was tough but the fries were great, so as the coleslaw. The Chicken wings were good but the vegetables pasta was soggy and tasteless. Don't think we will be back.

We went to what might be my all-time favorite event in wine country - a grilled cheese tasting! Bloom is already an incredible space, perfect for brunch, but they outdid themselves. The food was fantastic and the staff were wonderful!

I love everything about Bloom Carneros. 1 . Food is amazing! I love a place that takes salads seriously with the proportions and pairings well thought out and dressed to perfection! See the beet salad image which I highly recommend! The squash pasta dish was so creamy and noodles were perfect for holding the sauce - loved it! 2. Wonderful for dogs!! They had a dog menu and I got Izzy the beef patty which she loved and really nice rice and carrots(which she ignored ugh she doesn't eat veggies ) pic below. The place is interesting enough for her to do some investigating and then sleeping in the sun. 3. Connected to Kivelstadt winery which has such interesting wines including two chilled reds which are so good!

Outdoor only restaurant. The space is perfect to enjoy the nice weather while your kid happily plays in the small play structure, running back and forth between bites of food. It's great that you can keep an eye on your kid while peacefully eating some good food. Menu changes seasonally, and ingredients seem to be consistently fresh. Food tends to be tasty. I particularly enjoyed the shoestring fries ($9) which come with either lemon or spicy aioli, and halibut aguachile ($24.5) which was very well-balanced and fresh. The pea shoots salad with burrata tends to be overly lemony or over-dressed, but for me, burrata is always good anywhere. Their kids menu ($12) is very appropriate, with choices from a hot dog and fries to a kid-friendly charcuterie with salami, apples, crackers and cheese. I'm not a drinker, but they have plenty of wine options as well. Truly a great place for families. On race weekends, it's my regular Sunday afternoon spot before picking up the hubby from the nearby raceway and heading back to SF. Hubby likes the cubano sandwich which comes with a side salad ($19.5), so I usually take that to go for him. Plenty of umbrellas and trees for shade. Some fire pits. Half cement patio, half wood chips (so you can plan your footwear accordingly). Private free parking lot is gravel/loose rocks. The only downsides: --The bees love this place! Though they do have some bee bags to try to minimize them flocking around you and your food (just try not to order too much sweet stuff!). --Service is super casual and can be relatively slow at times. Though during my most recent visit, service was on point! Either way, I think this lends to the relaxing atmosphere, so it's perfect for when you just want to sit, relax, or chat with friends. Overall, good food with a play area for kids, and fully situated outdoors for dogs.

Yesterday was my first time at Bloom Carneros. It's a lovely outdoor restaurant and tasting room, with heaters and covers for this colder time of year. It was nice to have an option so close to the vineyards without having to go downtown, and the prices were pretty reasonable for the area. My friend and I shared the fries, brussel sprouts, soup, and sweet potato tacos. It was more than enough food for two people, and everything was yummy! I definitely plan on returning.

Had brunch here on our way to Sonoma for the day/night. The service was super friendly and the outside dining is spacious and a great place to be on a sunny day. We ordered the breakfast sandwich and halibut taco special, as well as ginger cake for dessert. The food was all delicious; the bread on the sandwich was amazing and the house made tortillas held up very well. The portions were also generous. It would've been nice to be able to taste wines from the neighboring winery during our dining experience however, they serve the wines by the glass at the restaurant so we were still able to try a couple and ended up buying a bottle of pinot noir.

    Burger and pork belly sliders

Bloom Carneros has excellent service and a relaxing dining experience. I loved the outdoor patio. The orange accents provided a really lovely fall ambiance on a beautiful sunny September day. Our server was really attentive and also gave recommendations, which I appreciated. The burger was delicious and perfectly cooked. I also tried the pork belly sliders. The cuts of pork belly were similar to "la rou" (Chinese bacon/cured pork belly) but thicker. Both the burger and the sliders had rich meat flavors with a nice tangy pickled vegetable contrast. The sliders had an additional spice--nothing hot though. The dessert was okay. The s'more was a bit too rich and sweet, which made it difficult to eat. The panna cotta was mid. The textures were a bit too experimental for me. The panna cotta itself was very bland, and the ice clusters on top with the cake crumbles looked a mess and didn't pair well texturally.

Bloom provides a spacious setting with lots of shade outdoors. The place is dog friendly and kid friendly. They have a play structure to occupy kids. The restaurant is also attached to a winery. We weren't too hungry, and wanted something light to eat. I had the halibut aguachile. The blood orange in this dish was refreshing. The Burrata my bf had was also good.

Ask the Community - Bloom Carneros

Which is better garden or patio seating?

Patio if you prefer concrete and not walking on shredded bark and rather have a covered area with some fans. Garden if you like a backyard feel with umbrellas. Garden is my preference!

    Is the restaurant dog friendly?

Yes! There were several dogs when I visited!

Lou's Luncheonette in Sonoma, CA, on Highway 12…read more I haven't been back since they revamped Fremont Diner to Lou's Luncheonette. Luved the fried chicken back in the ole Fremont Diner days. Fast forward to present day, I recently got myself to Lou's for lunch. The fried chicken plate is gone off the menu. Instead it is a more concise menu focused on single items versus full entree plates. Casual eats and counter service. Darn cute small diner feel inside. Modern retro country diner aesthetics. The menu focuses on hamburgers (starting at $8), hot dogs ($7+), sides, chicken sandwiches including chicken 'n biscuits ($6), milkshakes, floats, craft beer, ciders, and wine. I studied this menu to figure out what the closest thing to fried chicken would be. I landed on ordering the #1 Chicken biscuit. It's fried chicken, honey butter, and hot sauce on a buttermilk biscuit. Whoa Nelly, that was darn delicious. The fried chicken was boneless light meat. Thick cut with the meat so extremely moist n tender. Crunchy fried and flavorful exterior, seasoned well. Such a satisfying audible crunch. Just like I remembered. I could taste the light touches of hot sauce in the crust. Then that biscuit. Mmm. Heavenly. Crunchy top and bottom with fluffy innards. Each bite was fabulous. You know when you eat something so darn delicious, the noise of the world just fades away. I had a food moment. To top that, it was only $6. Not a bad price compared to the size. Another notable thing to point out are the goats. At the back fence ,of the outdoor seating area, look for the old candy dispenser. Instead of being filled with candy, it's filled with goat feed pellets. Put in a quarter, turn the handle to get the pellets to feed the goats. Let me tell ya, once the goats hear the clicking from that knob being turned.... they all come a running and clamoring towards you. Watch out for the more smarter and aggressive ones that muscle the others to get the primo spot to stick their heads through the fence. Remember they can jump so don't stick your head over the fence unless you want a head bump. I chickened out and didn't hand feed them, instead I tossed the pellets over the fence.

My wife got the burger and said it was great. Not dry and added the pimento cheese. Service was fine. You order at the counter, and grab a seat. Nothing special, but I wasn't expecting white glove service at this place. It's part of the charm. The patio outside is wonderful. Allows you to share the Sonoma sun with the grape vines surrounding the place. The one thing I would suggest is adding some cocktails. Went in a Sunday, and a Bloody Mary or French 75 would have hit the spot. Overall will be coming back.

Was in Sonoma to see my mother and going out to lunch was on the agenda. We struck out at our first spot then saw this super cute restaurant on a drive by. The Farmhouse vibe was accurate, even from the outside. Inside was even cuter, very open and artsy. Got a lovely table in the back and received incredibly great service from Vincent. Professional, friendly, competent, knowledgeable. I don't have a huge sampling of the menu, but what we had was truly fantastic. We both had salads, my mom the Beet salad and I had a Caesar. Let me tell you, both were delicious. The Caesar dressing was perfect. Anchovy forward but not overpowering. My mom said the Beet salad was the best she had ever had. Note the picture as I'm surprised she didn't lick the bowl! We then shared a mushroom, bacon, truffle, arugula, and balsamic glazed pizza with shaved parmigiana on top. Don't like saying things like "that's the best mushroom pie I've ever had", but I believe that it was!!! Triple Wow. Beautiful thin flatbread crust, tasty sautéed mushrooms, crispy bacon bits and just a hint of truffle. The balsamic just tied it all together. Ahhhhhhhhhh... Looking forward to my return to continue exploring the menu. Thanks, mom, for living so close. Cheers

Knowing that it should be a mild creamy, buttery, delicate flavor, I was left searching for ANY flavor as we worked our way through it. Nothing. Beet salad wasn't bad. But again the flavor came from the overly seasoned salad dressing and no real flavor from the beets. The bucatini tomato sauce was atrocious. We had to send it back because it had no guanciale flavor, far too much watery tomato sauce and overdone bucatini. It was more like pasta soup with soggy pasta than any pasta dish I've ever made or had. When you have two pastas on the menu, they should be highlights, not afterthoughts. So glad I didn't try the carbonara which I love, and hope to find great variations everywhere I go. The branzino was pan fried, tender and somewhat juicy. Again, lacking in the flavor profile with it's pairing on the plate. We came because of this establishment's claim of celebrating seasonal ingredients. We assumed there was a level of freshness and flavor consistent with fresh off the vine procurement. We did not taste evidence of this. The prices here are Sonoma'ish. The quality of food that we had was diner like. The service was attentive and apologetic and much appreciated. But the kitchen let down their counterparts in the service area and we come for the food first.

My goto dinner spot in Sonoma…read more I actually have been here multiple times and I don't know what has taken me so long to post a review but the Girl and the Fig is definitely the truth. When you enter you'll notice a more homey decor to the place. Warm colors all around and even warmer service once you sit down. Every single experience Ive had here is been nothing less of 110%. Theres always this good balance professionalism with lightheartedness that pair so well for the atmosphere. Because at its core this restaurant is high scale. It definitely has that higher scale vibe but if never comes off as pretentious though. This particular I took my wifey here for our 10th year anniversary together. And we were greeting by a nice little card from the "Fig Family." We ended up trying the Seared Halloumi and I was shocked at how much I liked it. Very light flavors but still enough variety with the crispy spigarello and pine nuts to keep things fun. The lemon never feels too overwhelming. For mains my wife got the Mushroom RisottoI think? Or maybe it was Butternut Squash Risotto? I got the Fig Burger and both were amazing. The only reason I didn't get her Risotto was simply because I already had it at lunch time, but that still didn't stop me from taking a bite. Each rice like grain had a perfect chew and flavor to each bite. Even being the picky person that I am with veggies, I appreciated the veggies addition to the dish. I still think though that the sure winner was my Fig Burger. This burger is everything we wish our local breweries burger was. A harmonic balance between salty and sweet. Im down to get a little crazy with burgers but if it's too sweet, it kinda loses the appeal for me. It takes away too much from the burgers roots. So yea. Go here. Make reservations too. I know for myself I made mine about a month in advance so it's hard to say how hard it is to get a table here. But hopefully it's not too bad. Parking by the way is just street parking. Despite that Ive always been able to get a park on W Spain St right before I pull up to the restaurant. OH! And thanks again Girl and the Fig family! You made the end to our anniversary quite magical!

Sometimes, I sit and think I can't imagine the number of Karen's or disgruntled guests that come through establishments just looking for something wrong. What a waste of a life, as I overheard one lady complaining about the noise of an AC unit. Sounds like you may need a wake up call to remember how beautiful life is. I needed to say that so bad!

Due to a flight delay beyond our control, we arrived partway through the evening and missed the first course. When we politely requested the opening salad, a dish that had been prepaid by the wedding party as part of a three-course package for all guests, we were informed that the kitchen could not accommodate us given our late arrival. We found this response difficult to understand, as a simple salad should present minimal operational burden to prepare outside of the standard service flow. For a venue that hosts out-of-town guests for milestone events such as rehearsal dinners, we would expect a greater degree of flexibility and hospitality, particularly in circumstances outside a guest's control. Accommodating a straightforward request of this nature would have gone a long way in demonstrating the kind of service that warrants a recommendation. Regrettably, based on this experience, we would not feel comfortable recommending this restaurant to out-of-town guests attending future events.
