Quite possibly the worst manicure experience I've never asked for in my life. My partner and I were visiting from out of town. He wanted a pedicure before our dinner reservations, and we picked this place because it was walking distance from our hotel. I had no plans to get a service done, but I had a broken nail from the airport and figured a quick soak-off and gel polish wouldn't hurt. Oh, how wrong I was. He chose the $60 Vitamin C pedicure and was directed to the spa chair. I asked for an acrylic soak-off (quoted at $25) and gel polish (I believe she said $25, though communication was murky). That was it. No manicure requested. The woman I assume was the owner pointed me to a nail station, sat down, and started working without a single word of greeting or explanation. I'm usually not big on the forced nail tech small talk, but the silence felt icy. She went straight in with a drill to remove my polish and, apparently, the acrylic too because she never actually soaked anything. She burned my nail beds several times, and even when I flinched or pulled back from the pain, she kept drilling like nothing happened. No apology. No change in technique. She asked if I wanted my nails cut to match the broken one. I said, "No thank you, it'll grow back." She looked visibly annoyed. Maybe she was hoping to charge more. Then came the horror show disguised as "cuticle care." She wiped my nails with alcohol (a drying agent), pushed my dry cuticles back with a metal tool, then applied what I assume was cuticle softener and went back at them. No water soak. No oil. Just hack job after hack job. She clipped so aggressively and at such a bad angle that she cut my skin near the cuticle. Again, no apology. Not even a dab of antiseptic. Once the butchery ended, she tagged in another woman to do the gel polish. This second tech was kind and at least spoke to me like a human. Unfortunately, polishing was not her strength. My nails are lumpy. Every single one. And they're all filed at uneven slants. She was wearing glasses. Can she not see? She even asked if I wanted a pedicure. Ma'am. No. Meanwhile, my partner is snoring in the pedicure chair, clearly enjoying himself. It's his birthday weekend, so I didn't want to disrupt his vibe, but believe me, I was holding back tears and fury. In total, I paid $70 for a soak-off that never happened, a manicure I didn't ask for, a janky gel polish job, and a cut on my ring finger (which the second tech finally cleaned up). And yes, I still tipped $7 out of pure reflex and courtesy, even though I normally tip 20 percent. To be fair, the salon itself was organized, tidy, and appeared to be clean. That was the only bright spot. I won't tell you not to come here. But if you do, proceed with caution. Pedicures might be amazing. Manicures, however, were an actual nightmare. Literally the worst manicure I've had in my life. I went to have my Gel-X tips removed. The manicurist and what I assume to be the owner were going back and forth on which method she should use to take them off which was red flag number one. She then spent an hour using a normal nail file to file the gel off of my nails (soaked them for maybe 5 mins). I walked away with essentially bruised nails.. I'm in so much pain and will now have to wait weeks for my nails to gain strength back. She didn't even remove the gel completely as you can see in the photo. Not sure if I should go to another salon to see what they can do but my nails have never been in such bad shape. So sad because I can't seem to find a decent salon in the 3 years I've been living in Hoboken. read more

Been here twice for a regular pedicure and manicure - both services are good. Nothing exemplary but decent. Regular mani/pedi combo is $35 and gel mani is $35. There is no cash discount. They accept reservations which is great because I've never had to wait here long to get started. The instruments they use are properly sterilized and sinks have disposable covers they change. Service is friendly, nice and helpful. Ambiance is ok (small space) but of course the convenience of the location on Washington St is superior. I would definitely recommend to anyone in the area that needs a quick basic mani/pedi. At this time they perform temperature checks, sign in for contact tracing and no fans for drying to eliminate any circulation of pathogens. Overall this is a nice, clean salon. read more

Not friendly and the most half assed pedicure I've gotten in a very long time for $35. I will not be returning.

I've been scorned time and time again by nail salons until about a year ago, I walked into bloom spa and been in happy bliss since! Not only are they the cleanest nail salon in Hoboken, the nail techs are so nice and always make sure you're the happiest with your nails. Been a solid regular there with my fiancé and it's cute how they ask about him when I go solo. They always have brand new cute colors, they are gentle with their techniques and my nails have never been healthier. 10/10! read more

I've been to Bloom Spa countless times, hopeful for for a different result and better experience than my last, and every time I'm disappointed. The head staff is rude and abrasive, they are inconsiderate of people who actually make appointments and just tell every walk in yes, they tell you mid appointment they can't fix your broken nail (after taking your previous manicure off entirely) complain about the tip provided, and even chased after me in the street once because THEY charged ME a lesser amount than the service costed which should never be considered at fault of the customer (by 5 dollars). Not to mention, the result of my nails was absolutely horrific. All 10 of my nails were different shapes. I wouldn't recommend this business to anyone who takes pride in their nails. I have gotten powder dip for years and decided to branch out and try a new nail salon. I will never go back to Bloom Spa. I paid $60 for SNS powder and the next day polish popped off of two nails. I went back to get them fixed only to have polish pop off of a different nail the following day. I had to go back again and there was no apology. Today, less than a week since I got them done I had polish pop off a different nail. This is 4 total nails that the polish came off of. This is unacceptable. The worst ever sns powder manicure they left my nails soaking for so long and when she took the plastic gloves off ( yes plastic gloves on top of the foil) my nail broke away with it. she then proceeded to put a plastic nail ( not a top) on and charged 10$ for it!!! i asked for a colour for my toes that matched my hands and it's so different it's unbelievable. i didn't want to make a fuss as a lady in there When I was there was complaining and walked out saying she was never coming back as her manicure was so horrible. i wish I had now $85 two days later and two chipped nails! Extremely disappointed in my gel manicure. Not giving one star because I've only been once and would hate to assume the whole business is as bad as the product I received. I got a gel manicure Friday evening and by Monday it was chipping and peeling off. So after paying $35, I had to go get two nails redone 3 days later they were so bad, and then the rest started coming off so I needed a full manicure done again within one week. In addition, my cuticles were cut without being soaked, so it was extremely painful. With so many nail salons in Hoboken, this place isn't worth your money. read more

The "Marathon" begins the minute you walk through the door. Temperature and check-in, next pick your color and sit. While the booths for pedicure are separated by plexi-glass they insist you sit next to someone. Next goes the timer. The pedí lady sets the alarm for 30 minutes and must be done by then (including nail polish) as the "owner" stops by to check on how much longer does she have till she's all done. In at 2:00, paying 2:27, dryer 2:28. Pros: temperature check-in, hand sanitizer, no mask = no service, plexi-glass everywhere, sanitize between customers, take credit cards and allow foe tips to be added on. Cons: RUSHED for everything, pedicure not worth the price ($27), Polish was put on 1/2 butt and when asked to correct they were not happy. Yes "they" they make it become everyone who works their (& customers) issue that you are asking for it to be fixed (twice) by the second time I left. read more

While this isn't my usual nail salon in town, I have been here multiple times over the course of living here for over 4 years. Today has by far been my worst experience ANYWHERE in town. Not only is it the sloppiest, but when I politely asked for the woman to please fix it, she laughed in my face and proceeded to (very clearly) talk about me in another language. Her "fixing" consisted of filing the gel top coat off, slapping another coat on, and telling me to stick it under the light for less than 5 seconds. I've been getting gel for years and I know it dries fast but not THAT fast. I now have multiple fingers that not only look sloppy, but dull and not shiny because she rushed the drying. Please bear with me, but I need this awful experience to be known. I have been coming to this salon for years. I have recently been getting acrylics on my nails because my nails are very short and I like having long nails. Two days after getting my acrylics at Bloom spa, one of them came off (which is very bad and not supposed to happen). I went in and kindly explained what happened and asked if they could fix it. First problem, they looked beyond confused and annoyed. They take me to a woman named - I think it was Sophia? - she starts doing my nail. I get confused a few minutes in as it appears she is giving me a gel manicure on that nail, which she was indeed doing. I then stopped her and said, oh just a reminder that I have ACRYLIC gels on. She gets so frustrated and starts putting acrylics on, but not an "extension". So my one nail is much much shorter than the others. I ask her again what she is doing and she keeps telling me "this is what you asked for, it's too late". I started getting upset. Someone else came and took over and they were obviously talking about me after. My one nail ended up looking horrible anyways. I asked if I could come back later and they take the cost of my Uber off that I took for my appointment - they wouldn't even do that. Not only did they not honor the appointment; they wouldn't take the 15$ price of my Uber off it I came back later. Got a solid, inexpensive, and quick mani-pedi. I made an appt for 10am on a Sunday and was done by 11:15. After no nails being done for two years it was a treat to get ready for a formal wedding. The staff was nice. My nails look great. About $35 total (without tip) will definitely keep them on my list for the next time I need my nails done. read more

You'll bleed from your wallet and your fingers! Went in for gel pedicure. Got persuaded to get an acrylic fill. There was my first mistake. Was told $65. Sat down, she started removing the polish, repeatedly pulled my hand away because she was hitting my actual finger and it hurt. She then tells me I need a new acrylic set but only for 3 fingers (never heard of that ever.) and that would be another $30 on top of the fill. I came in with fully intact acrylic with minimal growth. This was a money grab. I then say take the acrylic off I'll just do regular gel. She then proceeds to file down my natural nail to the point they are brittle and I started bleeding from the middle of my nail. Which she said no I wasn't. I literally had gold polish on before there was no way it was anything other than blood. I did not bother getting a pedicure. My nails are actually hurting and hot water is painful to even put my nails under. I don't expect this gel manicure to last whatsoever. $20 for the acrylic removal and $45 for a gel manicure. Wow, I really am surprised to see so many negative reviews, so let me list some of the reasons why I love this place (in no particular order): 1. The prices are very reasonable. 2. They have a membership card with rewards points. If you're like me and get at least a manicure twice a month, it's not hard to earn some discounts. 3. They always do a great job. I just get regular polish, not gel, and my manicures last a whole week! 4. It's worth it to splurge on the deluxe pedicures every once in a while. Very relaxing! 5. The people are nice, and they always give you a quick little shoulder massage when they sit you at the nail dryer. I'd definitely recommend Bloom to anyone getting their nails done in Hoboken! It's my go to mani/pedi place as it's conveniently situated on Washington St, it's clean, and has a good selection of nail polishes to choose from. I've only ever come here for their $25.00 week day mani/pedi so I can't comment on their other services but I find the staff to be friendly and I always leave here with my nails looking good. It's a very basic mani/pedi but it's good value for the price and I like that you can just walk in without an appointment. read more

Can't believe the horrible attitude of Sophia. I went to get one nail fixed. I had the SNS powder done elsewhere and a nail popped off. Walked into this salon and asked if they could put one on and told them they didn't do it while making sure everyone heard it wasn't their fault as i didn't want to advertise someone else's poor job as theirs. I was looked at like I was crazy when I kept insisting on the power dip. Finally after convincing them that was what I wanted and 10 plus 2 dollar tip later my nail looked terrible. She didn't dip my nail enough times so there was no color at all on one side of the nail. She then removed it and just put gel polish on top with a color that flashes terribly. I was going to just go with a different color all together to make it look like it was at least on purpose. I felt uncomfortable the entire 45 min it took to do one nail and couldn't wait to leave. Apparently a full set is 90 bucks there. Save your money and go to manhattan or Newark. Less expensive, better attitudes and better quality. I regret stepping foot in this salon. read more

Worst experience I've ever had at a nail salon. I wanted dip powder nails, after filling my nails until they were raw she did the worst possible job with the powder (I'm assuming she had no idea what she was doing) then decided to use the electric file on each nail until 4 of them started to bleed. After I started crying from pain she decided that instead of letting my leave like I wanted to, she would "fix them". All while she was laughing and giggling with her coworkers about it. Then She gave me a horrible color which was nothing like I wanted. And at the end still charged me 45$. Walked out with a horrible color and 4 bleeding nails. I will never go back. It has all of the components that I find to be most important to feel comfortable, and I always walk out with a lovely manicure. 1) Clearly displays their sanitation processes. They take all of the nail tools out of a UV sanitizer and also dunk them into barbicide (the blue liquid disinfectant). 2) Has a MASSIVE selection of colors. 3) The nail technicians consistently follow the same procedure and speak English relatively well. 4) The decor is inviting, put-together, and overall chic. I officially hate this place. Unscrupulous money grubbers....I walked in, asked if they accepted credit cards - she said there was a 20$ minimum, but as a one time exception, they would give me a $10 credit. Granted, if you were diagramming sentences, it would have red marks all over it, BUT I interpreted that to mean that they would let me charge the $10 for a manicure as a one-time courtesy. When I paid, she ran the card for $20 and handed me a business card with $10 credit for massage scrawled on it. I decided, OK, my mistake for being an ass and assuming but then I just decided to get the massage. Wait, massage is $15. I obviously didn't have cash, just my debit card, so I asked if they would just run the extra $5 so I could get the massage. Nope, $20 minimum on running cards, nevermind they already ran mine and I was clearly a paying customer. They wouldn't do anything to fix it. Manicurists are nice and do a fairly decent job but I'm giving them a poor rating because of their business practices. I will never return, I still have that "massage credit" in my wallet. After having my hair color RUINED by their hair dresser, then having the WORST facial of my life, I still went back for more punishment in the form on a pedicure (not just one either, as I am clearly a masochist). I am NOT racist but please, if you go here, do NOT let an Asian work on your feet. Insist on waiting for one of the Latino ladies as THEY clearly understand customer service.
