    Egg Salad Sandwich, cabbage roll
    Shiloh S.

Food was okay. Got an egg salad sandwich and a cabbage roll and it was over $15, which is a little steep for the quality. The cabbage roll sauce was quite sweet and thick and a little bland. Egg salad was good, bread was delicious and soft, the lettuce on my sandwich was unwashed as I discovered after a few bites of it tasting "dirty" I discovered some dried dirt. Pickle was soggy and not crunchy at all. The woman working the counter was very nice! Service was a little slow but to be expected during lunch hours. I would give it another shot, but not running to go back.

    Hot roast beef.

Food For Thought Deli was brought to my attention a while ago by some friends of mine. I have been attempting to get here for some time and finally it was like it was meant to be. I'm always down for a good deli sandwich. This place isn't very big on the inside, but big enough. There are some tables off to the side and some window seats if you want to eat in house, which lots of people do, or you can just take it to go with you. Hours aren't long her, but that does not stop the business from rolling on in here. We walked up to the counter and was checking out the menu hanging overhead. Within seconds we were placing our order, it's like second nature in here, a true deli. Our orders placed, order ticket in hand, we grabbed our drinks and went to find ourselves a seat. Seating at the tables is much like communal, which isn't bad. Soon enough our food was ready. Of course I couldn't pass up a hot roast beef sandwich. I kind of got my wires crossed here and thought that I was in a diner instead of a deli. But it was still the best thing to go with, at least in my opinion. The roast beef was amazing, like fall apart amazing. Flavored amazingly and covered in gravy. When I say covered in gravy I should say that it was swimming in gravy. So much so that no matter how much you took with every bite there was more to still sop up. I probably could have even drank what was left over, but I didn't, don't worry, I'm not that much of an animal. The fries that accompanied this were amazing. Small enough to eat a bunch at a time and to act like a shovel to get more gravy with every scoop. I do have to say that it was a bit odd to have that cold, crisp pickle on the plate. Especially because everything on the plate was piping hot. But it was a nice end note of the plate, cooled everything down. It was a bit pricey, but I think it was worth every penny. I also have to note that I thought that the staff were a bit rude when we walked in here at first. But after spending some time in here I saw this is just how they interacted with everyone that came through the door. Made it feel like a true deli, and it was nice to find it in this neighborhood.

Look at the Thickness! No skimpy sandwich here Buddy! #1. Triple Decker Corned Beef, Pastrami, Swiss, Cole Slaw & Russian Dressing

The Greatest little Gems! I will admit! Not a deli sandwich type of guy! BUT, this really makes you reexamine the Stance - incredibly fresh! Filling! Great service! Extremely neat and clean! You gotta try this place! The Triple Decker did the Job!

#1 Triple Decker-Corned Beef, Pastrami, Swiss, Cole Slaw & Russian Dressing & Matzo Ball Soup
    Amanda M.

I got the #1 triple decker sandwich which had corned beef, pastrami, swiss, coleslaw & russian dressing on rye bread. This sandwich was without question in the top 5 best sandwiches I've ever eaten in my life. Absolutely insanely delicious. I don't usually like coleslaw but theirs was incredible on this sandwich. The rye bread was soft and super flavorful. I also had their matzo ball soup which very good too and so was their macaroni salad, the macaroni noodles were perfectly cooked. Staff was super nice and the food came out quickly. Will absolutely be back again!

Excellent food. One of the very best sandwiches I have ever had. Meals are worth the price and also the best potato salad I have ever had.

Great corned beef sandwich. Always consistent; nice locally owned deli ambiance. Not many of these type of places left in Pittsburgh.

Love the decor in the shop. There were many prepared food options in the fridge, as well as various cuts of meat/preparations of it. We got two sandwiches, the cheesesteak and the marbella. I dont think we ended up with the correct order because we didn't end up with a cheesesteak, but did not realize until we got home. I'm positive that if I went back to the shop they would've remedied the situation, but I didn't feel it was necessary! The sandwich we did end up with was good as well, unsure which one it was though. Very fair prices, and our dog was so happy we brought him home a bone as well! Looking forward to coming back and trying everything they have to offer.

The business practices whole-animal, nose-to-tail butchery that respects the animals. Even bones and fat are used. My husband and I shopped here one time. On a Saturday afternoon, we drove around the neighborhood for 30 minutes before we found a paid parking spot. Other customers were inside the store, but the employees in the store served us promptly and politely. We saw cuts of beef, pork, lamb, and poultry as well as sandwiches, soups, spices, maple syrup, etcetera. We did not see as many unique meats as larger butcher shops sell. Prices were OK. We bought beef skewers and cooked them at home. We thought that the quality of the meat could have been better, but we liked the juiciness and flavors.

The drive thru was empty right at lunch time, but I decided to pull up and glance through the menu. The photos of the sandwiches and fun names immediately captured my attention. I went with Reuben The Great (I wish The Carmela had details of ingredients because it looked delicious too) The restaurant looked clean and updated when glancing in from the drive thru, but honestly the drive thru was quick and painless too. They have cute holiday bags and they put your sandwich in a structured to go container. Good thing too... because it is packed with fresh cut deli meat!! The corned beef was juicy and tender. The sandwich was put together neat too. I may just have to look up Jason's Deli more often!

I also prefer their iced tea flavors with pure cane sugar they offer in addition to a typical soft drink menu. It's also a bonus they offer chocolate sauce as a topping to their free soft serve for dessert.

Doors were opened for me, minor points discussed and service was fast. I was at an event down the street and stopped here to check it out. I saw an interesting selection of soups available and decided to try the stuffed cabbage soup. I ate it at a bistro table on the sidewalk. I thought the soup was great. It could have used a bit of salt, but the flavor was exceptional even without it. I ordered fries and was cautioned that they do not salt their fries. I was offered salt, pepper and ketchup packets to add myself. The fries were obviously fresh cut and double fried, being a perfect golden brown. The hit of the day was the pastrami. I ordered the standard sandwich, with cheese and deli mustard on good rye bread. I could have had my choices of cheese and condiments, but ordering the standard menu item gives me a better idea of what a place is all about. It is obvious that they take their food seriously. The pastrami was lean with great flavor. My sandwich came with a pickle that added to my enjoyment. The inside and outside were clean and well maintained. The people there were nice, the food good and the prices reasonable. You can't ask for more than that.
