I finally got the chance to try this awesome spot as they were popping up at a local brewery! They had four different homemade pasta shapes to choose from and three different sauces. I opted for the cavatappi and marinara sauce. It came with 2 meatballs and a generous slice of bread. This was probably the best meal I've had in a long time. Seriously, it was SO good. The pasta was perfectly cooked, the sauce was just acidic & sweet enough, the meatballs were incredible and the bread was out of this world. The best part? It was only $13.99! Their ravioli are available in beef, chicken, spinach-ricotta, and potato-cheese. Their sauces include marinara, boscaiola, bolognese, arrabbiata, and pesto. Examples of their baked goods are cinnamon rolls, brownies, and macarons. Their other foods include arancini, gnocchi, and sandwiches. Currently, customers may order these foods either in person or online (e.g., Market Wagon, Toast, DoorDash, Slice, and Uber Eats). Catering is available. Through Market Wagon's website, I have placed a few orders for Soul Pasta's foods. Here are my opinions about the individual foods: Pastas: The bigoli noodles were very thick, and the mafalde noodles were very long ribbons. These two pastas were very fresh, consisted of several serving sizes, and were a much higher quality than what you can purchase from a grocery store. Sauces: The four sauces--marinara, boscaiola (mushroom), bolognese (ground meat), and arrabiata (moderately spicy)--tasted delicious. Desserts: I ordered the cinnamon rolls twice. The first time, they had no icing on top, but they did have icing the second time. They were little (a couple bites in size) and contained the right amount of cinnamon. The chocolate brownies were also little, and they were moist and very chocolate-y. The macarons arrived smashed, but I enjoyed the flavors of their fillings. read more

(Sadly this location will be closing in 2 weeks - BUT they are opening another location which is more of a kitchen concept) that being said - I highly recommend over the next 2 weeks supporting them as much as we can. They don't get the credit they deserve. They put out amazing food and they are the KINDEST humans. If you haven't checked them out I HIGHLY recommend the boscaiola sauce on ANYTHING. I've ordered a couple of times now but wanted to wait to leave a review. I had to ensure the food was just as delicious as it was the first time. Holy poo, it is freaking out of this world spectacular. As an Italian-American with a birthright to Italian citizenship (yep, I went there, that's what us Italians do lol), I have to tell you this food brings me back to the days of making homemade pastas and sauces in my Nana's kitchen. The food is crafted with the same love of flavor and talent that I grew up with. Dare I say possibly even better? We've had the arrabiata, pesto, and marinara sauces with bigoli, mafalde, and cheese ravioli. Pesto is my bestie. I live and breathe it. This pesto is honestly on of the best I've ever had. The arrabiata spices are the most perfect blend of flavor and the marinara tomato flavor is fresh as if the tomatoes were picked and immediately cooked into a perfect sauce. The cruffins, gang. OMG the cruffins are a must. The bread that comes with the entrees is so yummy. We've had delivery twice and picked up once. The shop is clean, inviting, and smells like my Nana's kitchen did. There is homemade bread, sandwiches a few wonderful looking baked goods. Pick a sauce, then pick a pasta/ravioli and you can add a few items to your order. The pasta is so good. This was one of the best pasta meals I have ever eaten, seriously! The only thing was finding parking on a side street but do not let that deter you this shop is 100% worth it. Saved my cruffin for breakfast because after my pasta dinner I was too full for another bite. What an awesome new spot! This spot followed me on Google so I just had to try them out. They are mostly focused on pasta and sandwiches. They also have sauces made in house. I tried their spinach and ricotta ravioli with marinara sauce and their Nutella cruffin. The pasta was very good and clearly homemade. They use a great amount of filling. The spinach tastes super fresh and the ricotta is pretty creamy as well. The homemade tomato sauce was also very good. It's simple, nothing crazy, but just well made. Topped with some tasty cheese too! They also give you 2 pieces of bread with your pasta order. I'm not sure if the bread is made in house, and it was just okay. Personally, I'd prefer the bread be served separately from the pasta (like not in the same container) since it got very soggy. The cruffin I got was super delicious. I've never had this dessert before, but it was so, so good. Great amount of Nutella. Perfectly buttery and crispy on the sides. Nice and softer interior. Great. All in all, definitely check this place out. The prices are super fair and the food is very good, and clearly homemade. Great pasta and desserts. read more

I have never been to the actual restaurant but they have a stand inside a brewery in Dormont called Back Alley Brewing and they make the best pasta I have truly ever tasted. I request the cavatappi pasta with marinara sauce and 2 meatballs. That's all I can really say but I'm sure the resturant would be great! read more

I was in the area on business and decided to try this restaurant on a whim. This restaurant's quality is tremendous. The pasta is absolutely phenomenal and don't get me started. Wow! The pasta is unreal. Homemade with fresh ingredients, ready to go in just a few minutes. The serving size is super generous. I can't emphasize enough the high quality. This is a lovely little restaurant. I definitely recommend stopping in for pick-up/take-out. They do have some cozy furnishings to sit and socialize, but the space is not furnished with tables quite yet. Nonetheless, it's absolutely worth the visit to support this new business. The owners are warm and welcoming, and the staff are very knowledgeable of everything the restaurant offers. They are all very enthusiastic to talk about their restaurant and share insight about their menu. I like how you can put together your own custom pasta dish by selecting a handmade pasta, a house-made sauce, and any extras, and it's prepared quickly. My partner wasn't a big fan of the customization concept -- he felt like it made him think too hard about what to get, so he got a sandwich instead of pasta (his loss, haha). They only had ravioli pastas available today. I don't normally get ravioli, but I had the beef ravioli, and it was really good. I had this with the arrabbiata (spicy) sauce, and added toppings of parmesan and chili flakes. Don't be fooled by the custom pasta concept - the pasta and sauce are high quality. And while the food comes out pretty fast, it's not "fast food." If you are debating between Soul Pasta or "that Italian street food place" (IYKYK) down the street, absolutely go to Soul Pasta. read more

Absolutely the worst Italian food I've had in Pittsburgh, possibly the worst food period. The pasta was overcooked and soggy. The sauce was blah and there were maybe three little pieces of meat in the sauce. I live within two blocks of here, but will never stop in again. For a city with such a large Italian population, this is an embarrassment. read more

Absolutely amazing! I did delivery after seeing this restaurant appear as suggested a few times and I was blown away. We got the fried gnocchi, cheese ravioli with marinara, and mafalde with marinara and meatballs. We also ordered the cinnamon rolls. As an added bonus we got slices of bread and a box of almond cookies for free, that we weren't expecting! Everything was fantastic! I could eat the fried gnocchi with that sauce for every meal! Just stopped in for the first time, I work in the area and I know my co-workers have been in a couple times right after the business opened up, they all had good things to say so it's been on my radar. I went in not knowing what I'd be ordering, I wanted to see what their staff would guide me to try. I had the beef ravioli and bolognaise, and it was really great, everything tasted fresh and homemade. Good first experience, will definitely be back to try more.
