I liked my gel manicure (I think her name was Julie) much better then my pedicure. I was in a bit of pain during the pedicure - I felt like the woman wasn't very gentle and rushed a little. My manicure came out nice with the exception of my pointer finger on my left hand. It looks like hair of the brush got stuck under the gel so it's been bothering me. Picture is 6 days after service - still looks pretty nice but the color is a little more dull already. My biggest disappointment was the price. $80 ($50 for gel pedicure and $30 for gel manicure) plus $10 tip ($5 to the pedicure woman and $5 to the manicure woman) made the total $90 for only 2 weeks. Definitely wouldn't return for a pedicure at that price but would consider returning for a manicure with Julie. Still looking for another go-to place in the area. read more

I accidentally ended up at one in Wayne the first time because of a referral from someone saying how great their pedi was and googled the name for the number and location....lesson learned ask person referring place what town at least lol. Stopped in for a basic manicure. First she brought over a bowl of water, which she did not even soak my nails in whatsoever, it just sat there. She asked if I wanted my nails cut, I said just a little bit, and she continued to do so. I had one nail that broke the day before, it was dramatically shorter than the rest. Without paying any attention to what she was doing, she still tried to dig under my skin to cut that nail. It was very painful. Every other nail salon I go to, as they're cutting, they realize if a nail is much shorter and they don't cut it, it's their job to make your nails look good, and being the same length is part of that. And lastly, she dug far into my cuticles with the cuticle cutter that 3 of them on the same hand bled!! Now I am not sensitive or give bad reviews often. I've been getting regular manicures all over north jersey for at least 15 years. I've had someone cut a cuticle a little too much here and there, but 3 of them?? Come on now. The worst experience getting a manicure, girls were extremely rude and sloppy. They would not listen to what I asked for and wouldn't let me see what they were doing until they were done. We had a good run, unfortunately I will not be returning. it is still a great salon however the owners effort to "take care" of her girls has made me the customer completely annoyed. I usually tip the girls when the service is done and seems because the owner does not always catch the transaction it prompted her to start to asking rather loudly if you tipped. Now I appreciate her wanting to take care of her girls but when you get a wax, nails done, and toes done all by 3 different people it's easier do it like that oppose to paying at the end then having to find everyone who provided services... I have been going to Blooming Nails since they opened with Chris as the manager, about 6 years ago. Now I live almost an hour away but I still go, because no one does my nails like her. This is a top-notch place. Over the years I have seen them move with the times and not be afraid to use innovation in their services. Their prices haven't gone up in years, and they sailed through the recession - a testament to their success. I'm not bothered by any lack of English on the part of the staff. They smile and are very friendly. Chris's English is perfect, and that's all that really matters. And their services? My gel nails are flawless. My pedicure holds up for weeks. Things that deserve 3 stars: * the salon is clean & modern looking with plenty of flat screen TVs and even a fireplace * the hours are convenient- they're always open * the manicurists are sort of friendly? Let's just say I don't get the sense they're talking sh*t about me in another language whilst they do my mani/pedi * they offer a reward card- 100 points= free mani or something like that. I haven't earned anything yet but it gives me something to look forward to * They serve coffee- I just realized this on my last visit when my boyfriend tagged along. If there are snacks or coffee, he'll find them. * the color selection is plentiful- lots of shades of reds/pinks and all over the rest of the color spectrum * a mani/pedi is only $28 Things I think earn only 2 stars: * the manicurists are not adventurous. And by this I mean if you ask for anything other than a standard manicure, a french manicure or maybe a flower design they will look at you like you have 4 heads and then either flat out deny your request for creativity or clearly make faces and make fun of it in another language right to your face. Once I saw in a magazine a french manicure with black tips instead of white- it's not THAT outrageous. They begrudgingly complied with my request but then gave each other looks that said "what a weirdo" and clearly talked sh*t about it in another language as the girl was still finishing up my manicure. Another time I saw in a magazine a baby blue base color with white polka dots. I thought it was cute in a retro kind of way and asked if they could do it for me. The guy flat out denied my request as if it was beyond their skill level to complete such outlandish artwork on my nails. It's polka dots!! * The silence is deafening. As I mentioned, there are plenty of TVs but the volume is basically turned all the way down. There is no background music. And the space is small. This means any small talk being had is up for everyone's ears in the salon, like it or not. I once had to sit for 40 minutes and listen to some girl with the voice of Fran Drescher go on and on about her boring life to her manicurist who I can only imagine probably wanted to take a orange stick and jab it in her ears as much as I did. Some background music would make the experience here so much more pleasant. Overall, this is a good place to get a reasonably priced basic mani/pedi. read more

I've been here several times and always just have an OK experience. This past Friday, I called to make an appointment for a gel manicure with Lany. The owner advised she was on vacation but one of her other girls could take me. I asked for 4 PM and she suggested 330-345PM, I told her I could make it there for 345PM. I got there and then had to wait until 410PM for someone to start me. I even told the owner how I would run down the street to the post office and come back, and she said 'no just a few minutes'.. 15 minutes later, I finally got my regular polish removed. It was more annoying than anything considering I wanted to come in later. The lady who also did my nails, did not speak much English so when I asked her a question she just smiled and mumbled something. Not my first choice of a nail salon. read more

Not sure what Camela is talking about, but here is my take on the place. The manicurist at Blooming Nails are the most understanding people I have ever encountered in a nail salon. Manicurist always go out of their way to please you and they definitely welcome new ideas. The place is clean and very organized. I have been with Blooming nails for over three years. The best quality I find is that the new owner, Ellie and the rest of the manicurist actually understand you and try to have conversations with the patrons to make them feel at home. After 3 months of really bad experiences with gel nails that were""popping off " and feeling like it was my fault, I went to Blooming Nails who seemed to know exactly why my nails were popping off and did them differently. I paid less and was treated so much nicer for nails that stayed on 3 weeks +. I could tell this salon has a very loyal following, which they deserve because they are friendly, remember your name, take you on time and actually will be honest when a walk in comes in and asks if they can squeeze them in. They have a points card and were actually so nice that when I asked for it on my 3rd visit the owner put the points from my 1st and 2nd visit ( which I wasn't asking for or expecting ) The salon is small but clean. If your friendly and talk they happily talk back. Gel nails were $45.00 and I save by not paying what the other salon also charged me to replace each nail that popped off. read more

Got a gel manicure here because my coworker comes here and told me it was good. Her nails look nice all the time so I figured I'd try it and it was worth it. They did a good job at first glance. Lony did my manicure. I paid $30. The weird part is that they don't soak your nails to take your cuticles off. I was told the gel color won't stick if your nail gets wet before they paint it..never heard of that because other places I've gone to the gel has stuck just fine. That was the one thing I did not like about it..I'm old fashioned, stick my hands in some water and let my cuticles soak. I saw cuticles resurface after a week. I would've given this place a 4 star if it wasn't for the way my cuticles were cut and how fast it regrew due to them not taking it off well the first place. I do recommend this place though. The gel color did last but they don't paint your nail close enough to the nail edge so when your nail grows you can see the growth right away. I'll try this place again.
