I decided to give them a try as I work next door. I was happy with the ease of getting a gel appointment. I am little confused why they don't take pedicure appointment however. My nail tech was sweet and very talented and through . She did some really cute Christmas nail art on my and they didn't kill me on the price. A fill and nail art was only $40. The owner is extremely rude. They tell you is okay to come in before 7 about an hour before closing. Their workers get frustrated which you then end up with a sloppy job. Never coming back to this place simply because the owner needs to do better at communicating. I will say and admit the place is clean and everyone has masks and so on but as far as the ladies that work there? No experience in gel manicure. I had stopped going there because I moved out of Nj to the city but since I was in my old neighborhood and needed my nails done I went this past Saturday. Reasonable price except it should be $10 for the work the lady did on my nails. Now I remember why I stopped going here because the quality in gel manicure was not professional. Don't listen to all of the bad reviews on here. This place is pretty good overall. The spa pedicures are the best, definitely worth paying the extra money for. For the spa pedicures, you can choose from different scents which is nice. Obviously, depending on who you go to for your nails, you're going to like the way one person does it over a different person. Try different people and stick to who does it best. And most importantly, OPEN YOUR MOUTH! All of these people complaining on here that their nails aren't how they like them, say something to the nail tech then. If you don't like what they're doing, let them know. I always do and they'll fix it how I want. So many people don't speak up and end up with something they don't like. The prices are fine for me. They do get very busy, but that doesn't really stop me from coming in. There are soooo many colors to choose from, its a little overwhelming. Looking forward to coming back next time. I have a great nail salon in little falls i go to but someone had given me a giftcard to Lux over the holidays. So i figured let me get a gel manicure with someone else's money..first of all the place is decorated very nice but the staff was almost terrifying. The woman who did my nails was not pleasant, did not smile once just told me to wash my hands and tapped each hand when it needed to go in the light to dry. I had never been there before and she made it seem like i was a regular. I just felt very uneasy when i was here. when i left the salon i loved the color i had chosen and knew that i would probably never be back. But today when i woke up i noticed that i have bubbles all over my gel manicure, I'm really hoping it's just the polish and heat mix and not an actual issue but this completely turned me off, again not that I'd go back anyway. read more

Was going to Nina and Danny for a few years. Never really had any issue until I asked for a certain nail tech to do my Pedicure. They do not take appointments so I knew the girl was free. Well As Danny was bringing me over to her Nina said she was busy she had a client. I question Nina and Danny and they responded with nothing. I ask the nail tech is she was busy she said said no .. So I sat in her chair received the pedicure and NEVER went back. Decided to try Lux Nail Lounge when my usual place was closed due to renovations. It appears to be clean and is nicely decorated. For the decor and cleanliness alone, I am giving this place a star. Otherwise, it only deserves one star. I will not be coming back here for several reasons. Upon walking in, there is a desk where you would assume you go to check in. However, nobody was sitting there, which confused me as a first timer. I didn't really know how to pick a color for my gel manicure because unlike most places that have the colors on a handheld chart of gel colors, Lux Nail has all the gel polishes on the wall similar to how most salons have their regular polish. The gel manicure itself was sub-par. Maybe it's personal preference, but I don't like when they remove your gel polish using an electric filer as it hurts and makes my nails weaker. The girl who manicured my nails picked at the cuticles a bit too hard. I now am dealing with the consequences of her picking as I have an infection due to the trauma to the cuticle. To top it all off, the manicurist and her friend were speaking the entire time having conversations in Spanish. Her friend was painting her own nails and using the UV lamp attached to the table I was using. Unprofessional. read more

I went to the owner my LCN was not a product I've seen anywhere and I'm going to call the hotline where I get my referrals from so this is definitely not from the company. Normally it takes 45-60 minutes I was done in 25. She is rough and caused both thumbs to bleed. During the time finishing up she applied something she pretended was part of the procedure. I got here 2:50 and was ignored standing in front of the desk for about 5 minutes. She finally told me to go pick a color so I did then ignored me again and sat two walkins before me. I went in today for a standard manicure and pedicure - nothing fancy. During my pedicure my girl cut my toe while removing my cuticles, this was the first time and I let it go but I was bleeding. She finished my pedicure and we were on the way to do my manicure. During my manicure I asked her to square them off, my nails were pretty short so when she cut the skin under my pointer finger it hurt like hell but I understood. THEN after she buffed my nails she got out the Dremel tool to start filing across my nails, mind you this is a regular manicure.. I didn't get gels. After I realized what she was doing I told her to stop so she did. She put the cuticle softener on and let them soak for a while then she started at my cuticles SHE RIPPED 6 cuticles off and made me bleed. Then she told me to go pay before she started the polish. So, I walked up there and told them about my problem. They gave me a $5 discount off the full price of $32 and put a cauterizing powder on ring finger because it wouldn't stop bleeding. I asked them not to say anything to the girl while I was still there, but they did and I had to sit there awkwardly while she finished my nails. When I got back to her table after paying she told the manager that my cuticles were just sensitive because she buffed them.. uhm no, you ripped them off. After she was done painting them the dryer was full so she told me I had to wait. I said no thank you and walked out. I let them dry elsewhere. I'm still pretty mad and my fingers are in pain. Needless to say, I will NOT be going back. Also, I do know "the girls" name but I'm choosing not to use it. read more

I've been here several times and lately Service hasn't been good. This last time the owner, Danny, rushed to do my nails. The polish is uneven, my nails were filed crooked and when I said something he ignored me. He was extremely pushy. For the amount of money I spend here, I expect better service. They give you a card that they will mark for your visit. They are so greedy if you have 2 services that day, only one is credited. With all the competition you would think the owners would be concern bout keeping clients. Leslie is the only one I would recommend here. Terrible! Avoid at all costs!!! The woman in the front is extremely rude. Her attitude is just overall terrible. Get off your high horse lady you don't even own the place! She had to ask the owner several times how much to charge me. I get my nails done frequently and since my place wasn't open I figured I'd try Lux since they're right down the road. MISTAKE!!! The woman who was doing my nails was on the phone the ENTIRE TIME. She wouldn't listen to the things that I wanted and obviously didn't care. She could barely speak English, which I'm fine with. My normal guy doesn't speak English, but damn can he do nails. She was giving me attitude and overall was just not friendly or concentrated on the job at hand. She would stop for 5 minutes at a time for whatever phone conversation she was having. At the end my nails looked like globs of horrendous "designs" and it was a terrible experience. Do yourself a favor and go anywhere else. There's two other salons that are in the area and farrrrr better than this place. read more

Love this place! My mom and I frequently get our nails done every two weeks, I always make an appointment with either Nina (owner) or Maria both are fantastic at Gel fills. But very busy so appointment is necessary . My mom always goes to Danny(also owner). Always have had a great experience . As a licensed cosmetologist & teacher, they are clean compared to many other options in Totowa. Connie is a great receptionist and always makes sure your appointment time is correct. I've been a repeat customer with Nina at Lux Nail Lounge for 3+ years. My visit this past week went unlike any other. I was abrasively confronted by Nina in front of the rest of her staff and customers. Nina has an inability to work and not be on her phone and this time she was away from her chair for 30 minutes, leaving me unattended, or even kept up to date on when I'd start to get my nails done as more time went on. Of course I was frustrated, wouldn't you be? But, I wasn't expecting for Nina to start a fight in the center of her store. Not only did I never get a measly "im so sorry to keep you waiting" or "thank you so much for being patient with me" as she disappeared into the abyss on her phone, but I truly felt attacked by Nina. As she finished my nails an hour later, she raised her voice at me, kept cutting me off, and continually put the blame on me, her customer, and not herself for not managing her time and her business. If you want to go to a nail place that truly takes care of you and cares about you, then I don't recommend Lux Nail Lounge. But, if you're looking to just be a cog in the machine feeding the money in their pockets, have at it. read more

I came here because a friend of mine recommended this place after I was unhappy with a color from a different place. My friend recommended María and omg what an amazing service I received. I actually went back again bc I still wasn't satisfied with the color (my indecisive ways) and Maria BOTH TIMES took the time to understand what I was looking for, made recommendations, was VERY VERY patient (which I required it due to my indecisiveness) and was simply kind. She fixed the work from the other salon, cleaned my cuticles well and then didn't get upset when I went to her a second time to change my color again. The patience of a saint. Would not recommend this place. I just got back from getting a gel manicure. I asked for an oval shape and the lady made my nails square. I asked her to fix them and she said she couldn't do an oval shape because my nails were too short (that could be because she filed them down too much). She was not friendly at all and did not listen to what I wanted. I asked if they had a specific color and she showed me three colors to choose from. When I asked if that was all the colors she said yes. They rush you and do not take their time. Would never return. read more

Paying $45 for regular pedicure and gel nail polish , I expected good personalize service.. but your pretty much going to get your nails done while the person is on their phone talking or watching a video on YouTube? Is that what we deserve as paying costumers? I can't imagine as a Registered Nurse, taking care of a patient and trying to talk on the phone or watch YouTube.. you need to hire people who will come to work and work. I walked in for a pedicure (they don't take appointments for pedicures) at 6:05pm. I asked the front desk lady how ling the wait is (approximately of course) for a gel pedicure. She said 5minutes. I said oh great! and proceeded to sit at a pedi chair like she asked me too. Around 6:20 I asked her again if she knows when someone will be available. She literally ignored eye contact with me and said "no I still don't know" and walked away. I wasn't seen until 6:50pm, 45 minutes I was sitting in that chair. I would've left but I had a flight the next day and needed to get my toes done. All the nail techs are on their phones with airpods in at all times. They constantly stop their work to respond to their phone. I was able to observe this during my 45 minute wait period. Definitely not going back. read more

Tried this place after reading some mixed reviews, but since it's close to my house and I haven't been thrilled with my usual place I decided to try it out. After this experience, I realize how good I had it at my usual spot. It's nicely decorated and appears clean, but don't let that fool you. When I first arrived, I was told to choose a color from a wall of gel powder polish/matching regular polish (not your usual array of Essie or OPI colors), which was completely overwhelming and confusing. I found a color I wanted and got a pedicure, which was just okay (but kind of sloppy). They lined the tub with a plastic liner, but the tools had been reused and not sanitized, and the towel they tried to put under my feel for the pedicure had been reused from the last customer which immediately skeeved me. After my pedicure I was led to a table for my gel powder manicure. I waited a few minutes and was told to move to another seat because my nails needed to soak for 15 minutes. They moved me and put my fingers in a bowl of acetone (they didn't wrap my nails in acetone and foil like most places). I questioned it because, you know, your skin shouldn't be soaking in chemicals for prolonged periods of time, but was told it was fine. Then I was moved again to another table where a woman who honestly scared me sat down. She didn't speak, smile, and acted as if it was an inconvenience that I was there. She asked me (in Spanish) where my color was. I replied (in English) that the girl who did my pedicure left it at the chair. She groaned and got up to get it and "match" it to the gel powder. She proceeded to take off my old color with the file machine (which burned like hell and is terrible for your nails). Then she glopped on five layers of the gel powder in the sloppiest "manicure" I've ever received. There was polish over my cuticles, my nails were all different shapes, it was terrible. When I asked if she was going to leave it that way, she replied that she would fix it after. I've never seen a nail tech so unhappy to do someone's nails. She put on a top coat, told me to put my hands under the light, then to wash my hands. I came back and my nails weren't shiny at all and she asked me what I did. I told her I washed my hands. She put another coat on and I sat under the light again. Same thing. Then she realized she put on the wrong top coat! She put on the correct one, and I realized the color wasn't even close to the color I chose or the color of my toes. When I mentioned it, she literally rolled her eyes and told me it's the color I chose and it's fine. She was so nasty and I was so uncomfortable I just wanted to leave. It was honestly the sloppiest manicure I've ever had. My nails are thick, gloppy, bubbly, and I still have the gel around my cuticles. And instead of cutting or pushing back my cuticles, she filed them with this filing machine! It was so unsanitary. Don't let the nice appearance of the salon fool you, it's not a clean place. What a waste of $40 for powder gel. Needless to say I won't be back. read more
