Bloomingdale's at Westfield Fashion Square is one of my favorite stores in the mall. I really like the selection of brands presented here, and the merchandising is very well done - stylish, organized, and easy to browse. Some prices are not very different from the brands' own boutiques, so it is not always the place for the biggest discounts. But overall, I still love shopping here. I have always enjoyed shopping at Bloomingdale's, but unfortunately, the level of customer service seems to be declining. During my recent visit, we spent a considerable amount of time browsing, yet not a single associate approached us to ask if we needed assistance. At one point, there were three sales associates standing together chatting, and it was clear they saw us, but no one acknowledged us or offered to help. Good customer service is one of the reasons people choose to shop at department stores instead of online. I hope Bloomingdale's takes this feedback seriously and reminds its staff of the importance of being attentive and engaging with customers. I had a rather good experience returning an infant seat I intended to transport my older grandson in, but seemed to big for my Tesla. My Daughter said to return it and get a booster seat instead, since he is almost 50 pounds and would need it longer as a toddler/kid. I have to admit the bos was heavy, but customers saw me coming and were so kind to open the doors for me and point me to the customer service on the second level. The staff were also very helpful for the return merchandise and the whole process only took about five minutes. I've been shopping at this Bloomingdales for over 30 years, and it seems it had a really nice facelift since the last time I was there. Very Disappointing Customer Service Experience I am extremely disappointed with the way David Smith handled my concern. I purchased a pair of shoes, and after wearing them for only one day, the side started coming apart. I brought them back expecting reasonable assistance with what was clearly a quality issue. Instead, Mr. Smith told me, "I don't care how it happened. I'm not taking them back." What was even more disappointing was the dismissive and disrespectful tone in which he spoke to me. I was not asking for anything unreasonable--I was simply asking for help with shoes that began falling apart after one day. Regardless of whether a return is ultimately approved, a customer should never be spoken to this way, especially by someone in a management position. A professional manager should listen to the customer, examine the issue, explain the store's decision respectfully, and try to find an appropriate solution. I hope Daniel Joyce and Bloomingdale's senior management review this experience and address the way this situation was handled. Bloomingdale's has a reputation for quality and customer service, and this interaction was far below what I expected from the company. I stopped by this Bloomingdale location inside Westfield Sherman Oaks over the weekend. My wife was trying on clothes at another store so instead of waiting with her, I went to browse the Bloomingdale store. The mens, jewelry and cologne are on first floor. The women department is on the second floor. I saw that the men's department had a Ralph Lauren section which I like one of the jacket that was on display. I was surprise that the jacket was highly priced so I didn't buy it. They also have a nice suit area too, it feels very different once you walk inside Bloomingdale from the mall. The people working here are friendly and will help you if needed. read more

Easy parking in the lot off Hazeltine as well as street parking nearby on Riverside Drive if you want to get some steps in. I walk here usually as I'm only a mile or so away - perfect inside temp(erature), lighting and scents the moment you step in. I go through Bloomingdale's when I can to see the latest and greatest. The customer service is friendly, security is legit kind and caring and the layout is plenty spacious. It's top tier high end department store - I rarely find things for myself due to size, patterns, prices... However you can find some incredible deals and unique finds. I'm absolutely a fall and winter fashion mostly kind of person and will tie that into summer and spring things - give me those deep tones and colors over May pastels and brights most days (my inner spiritual speakeasy nomadic hippie emo rockabilly bohemian creative grunge esque craves grays, blues and blacks). Plus I'm plant-based so no real leather, furs, wools, etc which quite a bit of clothing, shoes and accessories can be made or lined with but B.D. has nothing but variety! At Bloomingdales you can express yourself via so many major brands and you can even get assistance - request a personal shopper, work with their Design Trade Program and/or enjoy beauty consultations: makeup, skincare, and/or fragrance in person as well as opt for a virtual experience. Enjoy their signature 59th & Lex Bloomingdale Cafe on the bonus level aka the third floor of this two story mall open from 11AM to 5PM every day (until 6 PM on Friday as well as Saturday). I have been coming here for some time and it's the perfect lunch place that's tucked away on level 3. The menu is simple and the food is consistently good. Very simple design that can use an update but it works. The flavored iced tea is great and I typically like to get the Asian salad with chicken or shrimp. You can also add salmon. Service is good and the value is well worth it. Some may think it's a little one the higher side for a salad but it's really tasty and worth it if you ask me. read more

We ordered a BYREDO cologne online from Bloomingdale's because it was more convenient for us to pick it up in person. When we arrived, we were told to go downstairs to get a sample and a bag from BYREDO. However, the gentleman with blonde hair didn't even acknowledge us and was extremely rude. He told us that they don't get commission for helping customers like us. I didn't even end up getting a bag because we didn't want to bother him any further. She was incredibly patient, kind, and genuinely helpful from start to finish. She took her time with us, answered all of our questions, and never made us feel rushed. I had a very disappointing experience in the jewelry department. When I politely asked for the price of an item, the associate (a woman with long black hair, thick accent and glasses) dismissed my question in a rude manner and quoted what was an unusually inflated and inaccurate price. The interaction was unprofessional and unwelcoming. Based on this experience, I would not recommend purchasing jewelry from this store. It was a David Yurman piece so you're better off getting good customer service at the actual store than this Bloomingdale's. read more

A hit! Yes, we're all shopping on line these days, but there is something nice about visiting a high end, old fashioned department store and being assisted by knowledgable staff. And you can try on everything before you buy. Solution: Bloomingdales! Not every Bloomingdales is the same. Here's are a couple reasons why this Bloomingdales is my favorite: 1. Eat here! No matter how you slice it, department store restaurants are fun. You won't find a place to eat at the Glendale or Beverly Center Bloomingdales, but this one has their signature restaurant "59th & Lex" and the food is good! 2. The third floor! Other two-story Bloomingdales don't have all the stuff this one has on the third floor -- housewares, decorative stuff, kitchen appliances, candy, holiday stuff -- it's all up there with bedding. I'm a fan of Wolf kitchen appliances, and they've got 'em. Red knobs. IYKYK. 3. Men's shoes. The best selection of our local Bloomingdales. Super friendly staff in that department. They are so used to fake returns, they're delighted to see a real customer. Don't buy shoes to wear to the wedding and return the next day. Ugh. 4. Cosmetics. Yes this is at all the Bloomingdales but they're so nice here. Unlike online shopping, lots of free samples with purchase. Great selection from the Tom Ford line at this location. 5. Nespresso shop inside the store. Third floor! Yelp tip: join their "loyalist" club (free) and earn points on all purchases. read more

Went in for the in store shopping event they had today. Very lackluster. That was disappointing, but not why I'm giving them a one star. I went to the coffee cart on the first floor since it was on the house per this event. The girl behind the counter was inappropriate and extremely rude. I asked for a lid for my coffee. She said they don't have lids. I said okay odd they don't have lids since people would be walking around with a coffee that could spill all over the merchandise. She proceeded to try to shame me and said " you are the only one who is asking about the lid. Everyone else just walked off with the coffee." That is a perfect example of shaming, blatant rudeness, and an unacceptable way to speak to customers. I hate to say it, but I'm so turned off of this place I will not be giving them my business. It is on whoever is in charge to vet your staff. The point is to have people spend money not to have them never want to set foot in the store again. You might not want to have someone with poor common sense and who clearly has no business facing the public be part of a PR event. The other vendors were fine. I have been a long time customer of bloomingdales. I just bought an expensive trench coat today and tried it on at home, only to find a toothpick in one of the pockets (disgusting!) After some investigation I notice some other odd things like a tag cut off, where I'm assuming buttons would have been hanging. I have another coat from this brand and it came with extra buttons. This one did not. I didn't notice this at the store! This tells me someone either wore it and returned it (I asked the sales associate who helped me if it was a returned item and they said no) or someone who works at Bloomingdales-Sherman Oaks wore it. I'm disappointed because I have been looking for this coat/size but I will probably return it now. I can't even buy it from the brand because it's sold out. I spent too much money only to get a USED article of clothing. Do better Bloomingdales. You've lost me as a customer on higher end garments. Bought a Kluft mattress 2 months ago and I've been having back pain since the 2nd week of owning it. I talked to the sales person I bought it from and he suggested getting someone out to inspect it. The next week the inspector came out and before even measuring noticed one side dipping in. When he measured it he noted a 3/4" sagging area the entire length of one side and reported it accordingly. FYI my wife and I together weigh less than 260lbs and after only a few weeks, this $6000 mattress (which was supposedly retailed $12k) is already sagging. I called after the inspection to see what to do next. The sales person said the 3/4" sagging was within normal limits but to take it up with customer service and that there was going to be a 15-20% exchange fee to get something else. So far each time I've called to get help they've given me the run around. Save yourself the headache and go to a real mattress store and avoid purchasing one here. read more

It's a rare, pleasantly surprising, experienced these days to know you're dealing with a human who understands the operations of the place they're working at and the human condition. I went to the fine fragrance section in here to make a return on the Baccarat Rouge parfum I got my fiancée but it turns out my mom got him the same. I tell them I have a return and they all ignore me. Finally someone asks if I have been helped and I say no, I have a return. She calls over another sales person which also says she's 'not clocked in' and calls another person to make a return. So rude. Also I go to the Maison stand and they are engraving the bottles, I asked if we got one online if we could bring it to get it engraved and they say no. MONEY IS STILL GOING TO THE COMPANY. read more

Most SAs at the Sherman Oaks location are not helpful or warm. A few in particular Ive had to avoid as they have very bad attitudes and are blatantly rude when asked for help (maybe to deter people from asking them for help). Quality of service has really declined at many retail stores. In my experience, this is usually an indicator that employees are being mistreated or not making livable wages, which I don't support! Businesses should know that happy employees means happy customers so I urge Bloomingdales to look into why so many of their associates seem unhappy there. Great selection of clothes for good value but after I use my points I will be shopping at Neimans or Nordstroms or anywhere where the associates are happy to work there. read more

Recently, the customer service at the Lancôme counter at this Bloomies is EXTRAORDINARY, thanks to the new ebullient counter manager RUTH. Ruth is so personable, and her cheerful disposition makes your shopping experience fun! As a loyal Lancome client here for over 8 years, I never received a makeup session, despite my loyal family and I spending thousands of dollars on Lancôme moisturizers and eye creams over the years. An amiable, helpful, and enthusiastic lady, Ruth is upbeat, and very accommodating, and she has an abundance of wisdom about the multitude of Lancôme products, having worked with this cosmetics company for well over two decades! Although I had not yet met Ruth and called her about a makeover, she went above and beyond, calling me back on a Sunday evening to follow up after Bloomies had closed! Ruth graciously called me back again a few days later and kindly arranged for a highly knowledgable and experienced makeup artist Julie to do a makeup session for me! When my sister and I visited Ruth before my makeup appointment, she pulled out a drawer full of samples of foundation colors and gave us a few to preview before finding the right one for my makeover and purchase. Wow! We were surprised: we never knew anything about this, despite coming here for over 8 years! In fact, the foundation shade that Ruth advised me to use was spot on, great choice! Speaking about knowledgable, Julie - a gifted makeup artist at Lancôme - is detail-oriented and very clean in her work, sanitizing the makeup utensils. I greatly appreciate her guidance about the Lancôme makeup products. She helped me purchase two eyeliners, foundation, pressed powder - wonderful makeup products that I have never purchased before, other than Absolue moisturizers and eye creams. Ruth and Julie - such lovely and thoughtful sales professionals - encouraged me to purchase products that I had never considered using before! If the previous counter manager, from whom I purchased skin care products devotedly for over 8 years, had just once let me have a makeup session with her, I would have discovered these amazing makeup products much sooner! Both Ruth and Julie are friendly and so good-natured, and they strive to be helpful: they are welcoming and hospitable, and I'm most grateful for their help! read more

The label had 2 return stickers, which means that the dress already was returned once before I purchased it, so basically they sold a worn dress and accused me of wearing and returning.
