This department store is my favorite and actually carries brands I like, but the service sucks. The employees, especially in the mens section will huddle around just chatting. Very rude concierge clerk..she was throwing shade when i was asking about the reusable bags for shopping and i thought that was very unfriendly and unpleasant service i recieved. So when I was wondering when the resuable bags were coming in, the other girl was very good in letting me know about how unsure if they were coming in. I would never thought I'd recieved unpleasant service from the other concierge clerk because I was always wanted to get a brown resuable bag since my friend had already bought one and i figured it was a very good idea for me to try and purchase a nice resuable bag to go shopping and if I do go back to this store again, i would only go there to purchase a either a small or medium resuable bag to go shopping with and just browse around because I would like to see the concierge service improve and not throwing any shade so people who need assistance with ssomething will get the prompt service they will get and will be able to be welcomed by someone by the door and feel like a valued customer who will need assistance with something that they are not able to find and know all about service as well as seeing that the customer service improves so people will want to be able to get the service they get. read more

I walked in for the first time a couple days ago to shop. It was around lunch time so after I checked out with a girl in the women's clothing department, she recommended the restaurant upstairs called 40 carrots. The girl who was helping me was very nice and more attentive during my time there as opposed to some of the older women who came around and appeared to be eyeing me out. I appreciated the liveliness of the people in the athletic and swimming areas. The restaurant upstairs was no bueno. The food was cooked to subpar degree and was very oily. I did enjoy the waitress at the restaurant though. It was mostly the food that disappointed me. Overall, I'd say I'd go back but I know who to work with when I have questions or need assistance and who to avoid. read more

I've been here twice, and both times it was impossible to find anyone to help me. I take that back, only one very nice lady showed me some watches. But in the Men's clothing department, forget it! I was looking for something very specific, and when I found EXACTLY what I needed, I looked around for assistance, without any luck. This store is SO big and it always feels kind of empty and is hard to find assistance. There was a muscly local guy dressed as Cupid handing out chocolates on V day which was cute haha. There is also a lady at the Clinique counter who is super helpful... but I only give 3 stars cos overall I feel like it's not the easiest place to shop. They suck me in with their B Money promotions... for example they sent me this coupon: "spend $50 on almost anything and get $50 in B Money". When I went to go spend the $50 it was annoying how a lot of items I wanted were excluded from the promotion and that the store person who I asked for help had to check every time because she didn't know which brands were included or not so just became a little tedious... it's also a bit pricey here... read more

It's a beautiful store with a lot of products. It is organized and clean that's the only reason I gave it 2 stars. I've gone to Bloomingdale's a handful of times and not one person is smiling or greeting. They are too busy talking amongst each other or looking down on there phone. Fully staffed in most departments. Only a few were not amused or thrilled to be there. Most departments they were eagerly helpful and assisted us with our questions. Yayoi S. was super helpful along with her co workers in Designer Dresses. They all connected with every customer to meet their needs. Clusterf*ck city. Good brands, bad staffing. Or rather: service uneven, with some staff overly attentive and others ignoring paying customers even when so few are around. AWFUL layout--made for, I dunno, shoppers who don't pee? 'Cuz the several times I went, I always got lost trying to find the unisex bathroom, and that's on more than one floor. It's like the section design was based on the philosophy: Don't let 'em go bat-room, or they going stay too long. One floor, it's behind the Burberry section. One, it's sort of by the luggage? You know it's bad when you have to memorize lavatory locations. The semiotics of the signage are confusing and non-intuitive. Honestly, the bathrooms feel as if they're hidden portals to other dimensions. Cleverly disguised and not where you'd expect and such. Gave the place a surrealistic feel. Kept expecting to see, dunno, knights of the Round Table or Michael J. Fox in a puffer jacket emerging from random corners. For a Friday eve so close to Xmas, pretty empty. Starting to see discount signs in red, hung over some clothing racks. Guess sales aren't quite what management had expected. Surprise, surprise, local people no mo' kala for this kine brand name stuff. Boo. read more

First off, I would like to make note that a specific store associate named Akiko deserves a 5 star rating in customer service. She greeted us with a smile and helped my wife pick out a nice gift for her mother in law. Great recommendations accompanied by a great disposition. However, in my overall perspective I gave Bloomingdales a 2 star due to their overall lack of customer service. Unfortunately, it took three floors of exploring until we reached Akiko and her addictive smile. I passed by 8+ employees without being greeted. I was so excited to visit the Bloomingdale's while visiting my family in Oahu. Last year I was able purchase a beautiful Burberry coat and was excited to see what they had this year. Sadly, I was assisted by Brett in Burberry, I had asked if there were any upcoming sales to help reduce the $950 price tag..He adamantly said no. Come to find out while he was helping other customers I overheard him mentioning gift cards if you spend a certain amount..I did not purchase the coat as I did not want him to get the commission. I've never stepped foot into a Bloomingdales before, so I had no idea what I was walking into when I decided to explore today. I heard it was between a Macy's and a Nordstrom, and that is exactly how I felt walking in! They have the home department and food/candy section like Macy's but the caliber of designers and emphasis on decor like a Nordstrom. It was packed the day I went and there were a lot of events going on in the store. There were huge lines so I didn't bother seeing what was happening, but all of the workers were really friendly and helpful. I hope customers treat this store well and keep it clean because it really is a great atmosphere inside with a lot of decorations and interior design elements that could go bad if not up kept. Sales associate named YOUNG in the accessories department has terrible customer service. She hassled me for making a return (because I purchased it 2 weeks ago) and accused me of wearing the item and returning it. I've never experienced a sales associate treat a customer like that. I did speak to the manager who was very professional and apologetic, however, my family will take our business elsewhere. Do not let her make commission off of you! RUDE!!! read more

Long ago when I used to stare at the TV & wonder where that "little brown bag" icon came from I always said to myself "someday I'm going to shop in that Little Brown Bag store" (sigh). Thirty years later here I am with my "Little Brown Bag" Moment! Bloomingdales is another iconic department store owned by Macy's Inc, (Nordstrom's counterpart) it has filled in the missing puzzle in the new Ewa Wing of the Ala Moana Mall. Like Macy's it has cosmetics, women's, men's, jewelry & home. While Macy's is "chock full" of STUFFS, Bloomingdales is its metro chic minimalist opposites. Unlike the cluttered look of Macy's, this place screams scarce with a "less is more" look. If you're looking for a table filled with clearance they may have it, but prices & stock is few. That's a good thing for those who likes to keep their options limited to what is only necessary and it's good for your eyes. They have exclusive cosmetics & home items from affordable to pricey. I would suggest getting their "loyalists card", you'll be able to get some discounts, freebies and other exclusive private shopping notices. Customer service is VIP, I have not yet experienced any bad service here...it's like that NEW CAR thing, everyone is still excited and happy to see you come in. There's a concierge where they will happily inform you of any customer concerns. The one star less is the prices. There are some items here that are good quality, granted some brands are exclusive to this place but you may be able to get a similar quality with a less popular brand at a more affordable price. read more

I wasn't blown away by this store. I lived in the SF area for a very long period of time and Bloomingdale's wasn't alway high on my list of places to shop. I would consider this place a mixture of Neiman Marcus and Nordstrom's but more trendy and esthetically pleasing. There are a lot of workers in black, very little rhyme or reason with the floor flow - glasses, bags, cookies and then cosmetics and designer brand in between. It was confusing and loud. The Hawaii murals were a nice addition and I wish I had more time to actually go through the sections. The children's area was a lot bigger than Neiman and Bloomingdales so I'm glad I can find a better selection of designer goods for my son. I know this place just opened and I came on a busy Saturday but this place just feels very hectic. I'll probably check it out again during the weekday, away from the crowds. read more

So, I received a coupon from Bloomingdale's in the mail - Spend $50 and receive a complimentary lunch at Forty Carrots. Awesome! I'd probably spend $50 on lunch anyway, so why not get some materials goods too. I went in looking for Aloha shirts for my husband and son. Selection was terrible. I know this isn't a standard stock item for Bloomingdale's, but it is standard attire for Hawaii. Regardless, couldn't find anything I liked from the six choices available. My daughter and I went looking for her next. The selection in the kids department was equally limited. We walked all three levels of the store and I couldn't find anything that inspired me to spend $50...even if I was going to get a free lunch out of it. I give up. I had a great first time at Bloomingdales! I only briefly walked in but Maci and Maile in the cosmetics section were WONDERFUL! So so helpful and knowledgable about their jobs. Some people work at places just for the hell of it, not necessarily because they like that kind of job. I could tell their passion in makeup and it really made me feel comfortable. I know Maci works for Mac and if I remember correctly, Maile works at Burberry. If I'm wrong I'm so sorry, but both were extremely helpful!!!! Bloomdales is beautiful. The sales ladies in cosmetics are so nice and friendly! I had brought some cosmetics from them. I was not satisfied after trying the product so I wanted to exchanged them for something that I would use. Nordstrom takes back cosmetics no problem. Well Bloomdales changed their return policy from March 1, 2016 saying you can't return or exchange cosmetics products if it has been open and used. Too bad!!! They lost my business no cosmetics shopping there. Even thou the cosmetics sales ladies are nice. Just a tip....be sure that is exactly what you want before you buy it. read more

Went into Bloomingdales on two separate occasions and was not helped by anyone on either occasion. The first time I went was during their grand opening weekend. I get it, they were busy, but if you looked around there were so many employees just standing around. I wasn't planning on buying anything that day so it wasn't too bothersome to me. I recently returned today, Monday Dec 7, around 1pmish looking to buy a gift for my mom. I really wanted to get her an MK continental travel wallet. I had seen it on their website and wanted to see it in person to make sure the size was not too big for my mom. The store was by no means busy and there were workers around. I browsed around the MK purses for a little while where I notice one employee ringing up another for an MK bag. She didn't acknowledge me or ask if I needed help. I figured I would look at the wallets while she rang him up and maybe get some help from her afterwards. Sad to say that did not happen. I looked at the wallets for another 5 minutes. Circles around to look at Coach and Rebbeca Minkoff. But when I came back to the MK section the lady working just looked at me with no intention of helping me. Needless to say I left. I mean in a mall where I could go to Nordstrom or MK itself I don't think I'll be back at Bloomingdales anytime soon. Such poor customer service. read more

The customer service here is pretty good. The store is really pretty and well laid out. What I don't like is that it's so hard to find a cashier. There are so many registers, but no one there so you have to find a sales associate to ring you up. If you are in a rush you can just go to the Concierge, they can ring you up. read more

I recently visited Bloomingdales in the Ala Moana center. I had the most negative experience there when I was trying to be helped by an Asian lady Mary in a department that handles the alterations for the fittings. After her cocky attitude, I asked who the supervisor was and was astonished to find out that she was the manager of this department. She had no customer service experience and was totally rude. I wouldn't recommend anyone to shop at Bloomingdales as there is Nordstrom and Neiman Marcus right next to it. I was so totally disappointed to learn that a huge store like this would let a dumb person with zero customer service skills ruin it's reputation. read more

This might be a taste of NYC, but their billing is located in the Philippines! The first statement came in 2 days prior to the payment deadline. I quickly made payment by phone, got a confirmation payment number, then was told the information was incorrect and they charged me interest and fees. I refuse to deal with dishonest companies that make excuses to charge you more than is deemed fair. Christian the supervisor over the phone did not understand that you should not charge clients interest on a blatant computer system error that is your company's fault. Bloomingdales, I would rather spend the money to fly to NY to shop, than ever step foot into your rip-off of a store. read more

I love BD and my sales lady today was fantastic, BUT the lady (with tattoos and jeans) who works at the area immediately to the left of the entrance (near Lorna Jane) was so rude. I was asking for help and she refused, as it wasn't "her post" and went back to texting on her phone. Gross. This is after I spent $700 on my evening gown. BD - I expect better customer service from you of all department stores, even from the boutique vendors or whatever you want to call those separate areas. Very disappointing. read more

I use to dislike Bloomingdale's very much because their sales associates are so rude and judgmental. They stand around doing nothing but staring at customers as if that's what they were hired and paid to do. Well I had been wanting this cashmere scarf for a while and Nordstrom had it on back order, so I reluctantly went to Bloomingdale's Burberry department. As I was looking around, an older lady salesperson greeted the Japanese tourist that were next to me, then she walks around the clothing rack, looks right at me and walks away! How rude! I was so upset, but I still needed that scarf. Haha. So I walked around for a while in search of a pleasant salesperson and found Nan in another department. She was friendly and helpful. I asked her if she could assist me in the Burberry dept. because the lady there was rude to me and Nan apologized for the other rude lady's behavior. I got my pretty scarf and am so thankful to Nan for helping me. The next day I went back to purchase a coat and Nan wasn't working, so I asked Emily for help and she was just as wonderful as Nan. I asked Emily if she was a manager and she said yes. I could definitely tell that she was . She is amazing at customer service, knowledgeable, and friendly. So thankful to have met Nan and Emily. If you ever need help at Bloomingdale's, look for Nan or Emily. They're wonderful and you'll leave there feeling happy. read more

Hawaii's only Bloomingdales offers more unique fashion here than at Nordstrom's and is on par with Neimans, just newer. Most big brands are here: Ferragamo, Gucci, Chanel, Chloe, Burberry, Ted Baker... Parking nearby is easy to get to and an escalator leads down to the new Shirokiya food court. I'd give 4 stars for their cosmetic department but their other departments need some serious sales coaching. I've never experienced such rude service at Neimans and Nordstrom, even Macy's employees have never talked to me so rudely?! 1-2 stars for their handbags and clothing departments! A majority of the associates in these departments seem to just get paid to talk story and cashier. It was so hard for me to get the attention of any associate, no greetings at all from any of them, only when I'm in cosmetics do I feel welcomed. In handbags, I was debating with my friend between which two clutches to get and we've only been standing there a couple of minutes and the associate that was waiting on me literally interrupted our conversation and said "so are you going to get it or not?". I told her lemme think about it, and she just said "okay, that's great"?? We continued to browse around and I decided to get a wallet and one of the clutches. I had to go to one of the cashiers and ask for assistance, at least the guy helping me was nice. The girl that was waiting for me on the clutches told the guy worker to put the sale under her since she helped us? Um, shouldn't this kind of thing be discussed or talked about in private and not in front of customers and second of all she didn't help us. I literally only asked her if she had the item at the store and she pointed at where they were. That's all she did. The two workers were literally arguing about who gets the sale in front of me?! He asked me if she was helping me earlier and I said no and I guess she got offended and she rolled her eyes at me?! I understand the associates work on commission in these department stores but to sort this kind of thing out in front of associates in this kind of matter is so rude and uncomfortable... And this wasn't the first time this happened to me at this store! All in all, there's nothing really special about Bloomingdales, you can get all this stuff at Nordstrom or Neiman Marcus, with much better customer service. I guess only now I come into the store is if I need a cosmetic product asap and Neimans and Nordstrom don't have it in stock, otherwise, definitely no. read more

Just got back from Bloomingdales tonight as they were closing. The Burberry Brit Men's selection is fantastic and quite trendy, great to see these being worn by downtown businessmen. I extol praise on the fashion curation of Bloomingdales focusing on trendy business wear instead of aloha shirts. A weekday stroll in downtown Honolulu will reveal business people suited in Ted Baker's from Bloomingdales. Thank you for bringing a Tokyo-esque fashion sense to Hawaii. read more
