Went in to just browse but left with two t shirts for over a $100. Is it worth it? Heck ya! Girls at the register were so friendly and commented about how they love the t shirts. One of them were wearing a striped version that looked super cute! I know I will be wearing these for years!!! read more

Super cute shop... Not exactly sure what type it is as I enter to see cool seasonal warm outerwear which I was looking for the quality are supreme as it's simple yet very fashionable which then I notice a bin with a sign to recycle your unwanted jeans...any brand along with Thred Up and Blue Jeans Go Green which is a denim recycling program and in return you receive $20 off a new pair...cool! Among the items there was a pink beanie where some of the proceeds will go to BCRF now that was something very special as pink is powerful! Browsing further I see a sign that they can monogram leather items as well and seeing the machine that does it is really cool they can do it right there so belts, bags and other leather items can be personalized is a rare thing to find. The sale rack is in the back of the shop but there's so much to see here is just really fascinating the staff here is just a delight very friendly and welcoming and to find some quality clothes are always a great addition to any wardrobe. While roaming about Ala Moana Center on Valentines Day, I was excited to see the Grand Opening of Madewell's first Hawai'i brick and mortar location. I have shopped online and at Nordstrom for Madewell's great fitting and well-made denim jeans and shirts. My experiences with Madewell is only from my perspective but I understand they do offer menswear. To me, this company is known for its use of denim fabric but they also offer clothes made from other natural fabrics or leather and accessories (footwear, belts, bags, etc) to complement their styles. Madewell collaborates with designers such as Reebok, Vans, Gola and more. So, their styles incorporates casual lifewear and sportswear. I'm not into joining store loyalty clubs but I would suggest that you at least sign up for their FREE Insiders Club which offers you additional discounts on your purchases. The Insiders Club has 3 levels (Insider, Star and Icon). You can progress up to get more benefits as you spend more. I'm sad to place to this kind of review for this store. I love shopping here and I come all the time whenever I get to chance to stop by Ala Moana. But it seems like the customer service here kinda went downhill recently. I just visited this store to do a return and I was browsing around to see if there was something I could exchange and I noticed this one sales girl kept following me around and it was pretty obvious. I was standing near the front of the store looking at the clothes and the sales girl was reorganizing the clothes displayed on the table. I move towards the middle/back of the store and there she was again folding the clothes on the table near me. I went to the other side where they had their sale selections and there she was again reorganizing the clothes near the table where I was standing. I felt like I was being followed by her. So to see if she really was, I moved towards the very back of the store near the bags/shoes and there she was again but this time re-folding the clothes at the table on the opposite side. I understand she was just doing part of her job of keeping an eye, but COME ON! I wasn't going to steal anything and there were other people in the store other than me! It's like she suddenly profiled me as a thief and watched my every move. I felt very uncomfortable and she didn't even say hi or welcome or asked if I needed any help. But there was finally one sales girl that was nice, gave a smile and asked if I was doing ok. If it wasn't for her, I would've immediately left. I always felt welcomed every time I visited this store. But this was the first time I felt really irritated and uncomfortable while shopping here. I hope that sales girl who kept following me around learns how to be more welcoming to customers cause she did not make me feel welcomed at all. Walked into Madewell and met the genuinely nice (and funny) store manager, Lainey. Jewel is a pleasure to deal with too. I was totally convinced why I started shopping at Madewell in the first place--great quality clothing and warm personal (but not over-bearing) service. I ordered another pair of jeans and bought a pair of sunglasses, leather cross-body purse, and pair of earrings. The shop is now my go-to stop in Ala Moana. read more

Such a great selection of basic buildable products, especially for a capsule wardrobe. Love the brown weaved material and gorgeous brown leather totes- a classic. The real start of the show is the service. Super sweet Laney helps me this afternoon. She was so efficient with ringing me up and helping me with the jewelry. She caught a mistake I had made when leaving cash from a Christmas gift inside a wallet that I was returning with the gift receipt. Honest workers really need an extra round of applause. The people that work here are absolute worse! No customer service what so ever and lack in people skills. They are always on their phone or have three people at the registers, 2 not doing anything. I'm baffled at how a clothing store can still have this business running hiring terrible employees. read more

My family and I were disappointed in the customer service. There were two girls at the register talking loudly and on their phones. While looking around at the store, they continued to be on their phone and never acknowledged us or offer their services. When we left, they continued playing on their Instagram live. I was so depressed after stopping by this store. It's was really exciting too see all the cute clothes and jeans and I was ready to spend way more money than I should. Their denim bar was interesting so I tried to find a sales associate. There were 3 employees by the register and after standing there for a few seconds I said excuse me. They seemed bothered that I needed help and I asked what size their jeans go up to. A male employee looked me up and down and very rudely said "we'll what size do you need" his tone made me uncomfortable so I joked "well I'm fat so I want to know if I can shop here." On of the girls vaguely explained their sizes that didn't sound like I would fit, so again I joked "oh I guess I can't shop here then" and the 3 employees all said "no we don't have your size but you can try on the jeans anyway" and I said "well I don't want to feel sad today" and I left. This attitude made me feel very unwelcome even though I probably could have fit their other clothing items. I'm not even very overweight, but I felt like a huge whale by the time I left. I wish I could say I would be back for the super cute jewelry or dresses, but I don't feel comfortable going back. read more
