Solid bagel spot. If you're looking for NYC-style bagels, these won't hit the same, but they are good, freshly made bagels. Bloomington Bagel vs Gables is kind of a hot local debate, but I don't really have a preference and I like both of them for different reasons. I think the quality of the bagels here is a little better (this is the only place where they are made fresh) and there's more customization options for sandwiches, but the Gables bagels are a little bigger and the sandwich style is closer to NY/NJ delis. Lots of options to build you own sandwich here with many bagel and schmear flavours and different veggies. Because the style of bagel is thick/fluffy and not very wide around, sometimes the fillings do not want to stay in the sandwich. They have some delicious options though. I especially love the sushi-inspired Godzilla sandwich made with smoked salmon, miso schmear, and nori. The veggies are always fresh and generously piled on. As for non-bagel offerings, they have some other baked goods, like muffins and cookies. The blueberry muffin I tried was great. The cookies are usually good but kind of inconsistent. They're usually very soft but occasionally you will get a suboptimal crumbly one. The cookies are very sugary and huge. I have been known to eat an entire cookie at once but to be honest I usually regret it, so I recommend splitting one in half to share or save for later. They have coffee and espresso drinks, tea, and smoothies. Unfortunately no decaf coffee or espresso. I keep getting tea to go with my cookie or bagel but the selection is all very cheap brands. I like the chai though. Service is very good. They're on it so you don't have to wait too long even when it gets busy. Sometimes the place is packed and sometimes unexpectedly empty, and I can't figure out if there's any pattern to it. read more

I thought this was alright. I remember when they first opened when I was still a student. We were looking for something good and filling to eat prior to walking the campus and this seemed to check off all the boxes. I had the lox which was pretty good. Don't order coffee to go online. Your food order will be ready in the To-go bin, but you'll have to stand in line to tell them what your drink order was, they will act like they have no clue you ordered one so you have to show them your order, and then they will start making it & it will come out wrong (example if you ordered oat milk it will be regular milk) and somehow will still be cold when it was supposed to be hot. read more

Stopped into Bloomington Bagel Co. on my way to work when I first moved here and it was such a good call! I grabbed the lox bagel pictured and it was so good. Really good bagels! If you get a cream cheese shmear you will end up with A LOT of cream cheese, so make sure you pick a flavor you like. There are tons of different flavor bagels and shmears. They also have breakfast sandwiches and smoothies. The seating is great when it's nice out and they open the garage doors! Go to BBC! The line is nuts! All. Morning. Long. If that doesn't speak for itself, I don't know what else would. Last weekend, we had a big group eating breakfast at Bloomington Bagel. Do yourself a favor and wait in line at Gable's Bagels. These bagels are hardly edible and the employees are slow and bored. At Gable's the food is always amazing and it's a party. I was very (VERY) hungry the other day and ordered two bagels here. I got a breakfast sandwich on a jalapeño bagel and a lox on a plain bagel. Between the two, the breakfast sandwich definitely takes the cake. With the breakfast sandwich, they were very generous with the filling (lots of ham, a sausage patty, egg, cheese some kind of salami I think?). As for the lox I appreciated the generous amount of salmon but could have done without the big slice of tomato. The tomato kind of just made the bagel soggy and didn't really add much to the flavor, if you get the lox I recommend asking for no tomato (coming from somebody who likes tomatoes)! I'm giving 3 stars because the bagels themselves. They were a bit too dense and dry. I like my bagels just a tad bit softer and airy. They were also a bit small for the price. read more

Such good bagels! We stopped in Bloomington on our way to a soccer game in Southern Indiana for a quick breakfast and picked up some amazing bagel sandwiches to go! Bagels were provided this morning to Scout Leaders at a Ransburg summer camp meeting. They were fantastic! I personally enjoyed a sesame bagel with jalapeno cream cheese, and it was delicious. Best bagels in town, hands down! I am lucky enough to get to work with BBC at my current job, which is like ten steps away from their downtown location, and in addition to the yummiest food, everyone who works there are the nicest! There may be other bagel spots in town, but BBC is the only one that's consistent with quality and has the most toppings to add in. As a vegetarian, the fact they have so many vegetables to add in is a game changer, they also update their menu so much more than any other bagel spot, they do new schmear inventions all the time, and even just added jn impossible sausage! The service was great efficient and the lovely lady at the front desk was super helpful she even spelled my name right!!! The ambiance was very cozy it was super cold so it was nice to come into the warm building with really cool tables and a pairing of downtown Bloomington. The food was also superb I got the blueberry banana smoothies and an everything bagel with plain cream cheese. My only complaint is that those 2 things were 11.75. This is a great quick stop for breakfast in downtown Bloomington. The staff is super friendly and the wait isn't usually too long. I ordered the Asiago bagel with garlic and herb cream cheese. The homemade cream cheese is incredible!! I loved the bagel too, but it wasn't as big as I expected for the price. Also, the breakfast sandwiches with protein looked incredible, but seemed a bit expensive compared to other bagel locations. Still worth the trip and for a treat every once in a while! read more

The line can be out the door on the weekends, but the staff is super efficient and there is never a super long wait time.
