I love Blowfish Sushi! Everything is super fresh, and I know I'll always have a high quality meal. The interior is very chic and elevated, but their takeout is also consistent but a bit slow. Regardless, the staff are incredibly kind and helpful so I've always had a greatly experience.

We ordered Uber Eats and the food came fresh. We tried: - Salmon Sunrise Bowl - Spicy Roasted Garlic Miso Ramen - Sakura - Nigori Strawberry (sake) It was plenty of food. The fish and rice were both fresh. I really enjoyed the ramen broth, great for a cold day.

My goal is to try 50 new Chicago restaurants in 2025! Restaurant: 22/50 Month tried: April Favorite dish: Spicy roasted garlic miso ramen Walked into Blowfish on a whim when we were in the area and we were very impressed! We started with the stuffed avocado which was delicious and silky. Then I wasn't much in a sushi mood so I got ramen, which was a huge portion and so flavorful. My sister in law always orders delivery from Blowfish now after finding it! I definitely need to go back for sushi.

The Food was incredible amazing!!! And the service was good! Staff were very nice. The ambiance was great

Blowfish ramen is a beautiful restaurant in a beautiful area! The ambience is wonderful for dinner & very good for lunch. Our service was amazing, the pork buns come in 3s but when me & my mother walked in they gave us 4! The employees are amazing & the food is even more incredible! 10/10 recommend!

I got the seaweed salad which is a large portion for an appetizer. Has cucumbers so hefty. Also got scallops sashimi which was fresh and the snowball. The white tuna was a bit over flamed for my taste. But overall great. Service was fast at 6pm on a Thursday. I love that there is a glass bottle of water on the table at the ready. Bathroom is clean. Staff nice and efficient.

I came here unsure what I wanted because everything on the menu looks so good. I brought my own seltzer for the BYOB (there is a $4 charge) and started with the snowball appetizer. They were so good! Strong truffle flavor. I also for the moonrise roll and I was sooo pleased. HOWEVER, halfway through the roll there was some unpleasant crunching... it must've been crab shell? There was crab mix in the roll and no shrimp so I don't know what else it could have been, but I did take some shell out of my mouth. That part was disappointing and was in 3 pieces. I knocked off two stars for that because it was really off putting while finishing the roll. I will say, the food was really good and I do see myself going back, but that part was unfortunate. Next time I'm hoping we can redeem some stars! Will update.

So good, very fast service, very good sushi. The diet coke is cold. I went here for a birthday

I have been here twice now, and left full and happy both times. Their sushi is fantastic, and the portions are HUGE! Most rolls Come with 8-10 Pieces, so it's a GREAT deal! This will absolutely be my go to spot for sushi! Their snowball appetizer is stellar, as well as their Sakura roll. Both have truffle on it, and it's just an AMAZING flavor!! The red dragon is a must try, and there was another roll it a crunchy beet that was delicious. i know it started with a F but can't remember the name Service is always excellent, and the vibe is here so chill. Pretty space and great mix of people, easy to make reservations. You'll definitely leave feeling full and content!

Ambience: very nice. You can celebrate a range of activities here due to the set up and decor. Service: They are very nice and attentive. They made sure we were enjoying our food and accommodated requests. Food: flavorful and nice portions.

    Flaming Tuna Bowl
    Frank L.

Five stars for the Blowfish Contemporary Sushi & Ramen Restaurant in Edgewater. We came in as a group of 3 for lunch on a Saturday afternoon and made a reservation in advance but it wasn't needed, it wasn't too crowded in the restaurant. Our server was very friendly, we started our order with the Gyoza and Calamari appetizers - both were delicious, you get a big portion size of the calamari (at least enough for 3 people). For the entree, I ordered the flaming tuna poke bowl. That was absolutely amazing - it is a massive portion size I took half of it home for dinner the same night, lots of flavors and sauces and good amount of tuna in the bowl itself. The prices are very reasonable - I was expecting to pay more being in Chicago than I normally would for similar food in the suburbs but it was around the same pricing. Overall I'd recommend a visit - great food and service!

I loved the indoor outdoor feel of the space with the open windows, and they also have a nice outdoor seating area. The atmosphere is casual but cute, with a mix of bar, high top, and bench seating. We tried a few cocktails, which were good, and our server was friendly, patient, and gave great recommendations. But the absolute STAR of the meal was the crab rangoon dumplings. OMG. I already love crab rangoon, but these took it to another level. They were easily my favorite thing we ordered, and I would go back just for those. I'm not usually a big ramen person, but I was pleasantly surprised by how flavorful the ramen was. We ordered a spicy option with fried chicken, and while I wasn't a fan of the fried chicken getting soggy in the broth, the ramen itself was delicious...honestly, the flavors were even better the next day after everything had soaked in. Overall, I really enjoyed it and would definitely come back to try another ramen. But those crab rangoon dumplings? I could go back for those RIGHT NOW.

I ordered the karaage chicken nuggets and chicken and veggie dumplings, while my friend ordered the nuggets and fried chicken bun. Everything came out quickly and hot. The chicken nuggets were meaty and flavorful, and the sauce really elevated the dish. The fried dumplings were packed with vegetables and had a great texture. My friend enjoyed her fried chicken bun the most. She loved how soft the bun was and thought the sauce on the sandwich really brought everything together. We did have a little hiccup at the end of our meal. We waited for the bill for a while before flagging down our server, only to find out that the bill was connected to the QR code in the booth. I actually think that's a really cute and convenient concept, but it would be helpful if guests were told about it when they're seated or when the food is delivered. It would definitely save guests from sitting around wondering when their check is coming. Overall, another enjoyable experience at Ramen-San.

Watching an employee use their bare hands and mouth on food that was then served to a customer was extremely concerning and completely unacceptable from a food safety and hygiene standpoint. I was skeptical when I first heard the name Monster Ramen. All my previous personal experiences…read morehave always proven to me that restaurants with names that don't represent their culture in distinct ways are generally subpar. For example, I would usually never even think to step into a restaurant named Best China House, Sushi Bistro, or Mom's Korean Restaurant. (Apologies if your shops are named as such. These were meant to be generic examples) Oh, how times have changed. I would have never thought having a bowl of ramen at a Monster Ramen would give me this much pleasure. Part of it will (in fact, most of it) be on me and my general philosophy on fusion cuisine and outdated gemerational gap. There was definitely a time when avoiding agorementioned type of restaurants may have been deemed smart. But I feel the new generation of restaurant owners and chefs have up'd their games in not only at better food making, but also accepting of a bit more irony. Anyone who knows me knows how much I stay away from trying anything "fusion." It's kinda funny to myself how hypocritical it is that I would be totally okay in substituting an ingredient or two when I'm missing some when cooking, but when it comes to paying money to sit and eat that I would judge chefs by thier style of cooking. Yes, a big part of it is based on a large pool of personally gathered data, but I do acknowledge that I need to open myself up a bit more. Case in point. I was recommended MR by a fellow Yelper and I decided to give it a whirl. I happened to have a friend and his son with me, so I was able to do small tastings of 3 different ramen. And boy, was I pleasantly surprised. We collectively had bowls of shio, shoyu and miso specials. Plus, I ended up getting the Summer Special bowl to go for my wife. All of them had their individual charm to them but more importantly, each of them were made to perfection when it came to broth seasoning and noodle texture, which are THE two most important aspect of ramen, in my opionion. Not too salty nor bland soup. Perfectly dense noodles. I just loved all four! It wad when I tasted the yuzu in tgeir shio ramen that my wife would love it. Even though I brought her the spicy Sunmer version home, I still think it'll be worth bringing her and our daughter back when we get a chance to. Our server Dionne (I think) was most pleasant and helpful. The atmosphere of the restaurant was great, too. It helped that I came before the dinner rush, although, I can also see more lively vibe being nice as well. Will be back with the fam definitely!
