Incroyable! We called ahead to place our order. Went to pick it up and it was ready! It's cash only, zelle or venmo. The inside is small and minimal seating, I think it was like one big table. The sushi was delicious. For the price we got so much sushi. We also tried the grilled hamachi, it was fatty, buttery and grilled to perfection! We are happy customers. The fish was great, the price was just as good. Ordering over the phone wwas easy, the only problem was they gave us 4 pieces of o-toro that we didn't order which totalled $25. My wife picked up the order so the error was unfortunately overlooked until it got home. We'll definitely go back though, I'll just be more careful of the order accuracy! read more

This was one of the first places I got to-go sushi from after having a baby from a friend's recommendation. It was exceptionally fresh, but my partner had a little difficulty finding parking (I think he ended up parking on a side street). The restaurant is cash only, so come prepared to pay with cash instead of card. They were fairly speedy with our medium sized platter, and we honestly fought over all of the rolls we ordered -- as in, I was counting the number of salmon rolls I was eating to ensure I was getting my fair share, haha. We will definitely be frequenting Lawrence Fish Market again given the efficient and kind service. read more

The amount of publicity and social media hype this place gets is absolutely deserving of its spot. The amount of sushi options they have and the absolute presentation in chef's kiss. The quality is definitely better than places I usually frequent (ayce spots) and they have cuts of fish that is generally not available or is only available for an egregiously high price. The quality is surprisingly good, didn't know the Midwest was able to find fish this good. This place isn't really like a conventional restaurant, it's moreso like a grocery store that also happens to have sushi platters for sale. Likely the best bang for your buck outside of going to all you can eat. read more

I've been going to lawrence fish market for so many years now. Their sushi / fish is always consistent, fresh and very good price but be sure to bring cash. They are cash only spot. Great customer service. They missed a roll from my order but they were able to give me credit back after I submit my photo as proof. Tip: call ahead to order and bring cash. It's a to-go sushi place and they get busy! I'm glad they opened another location in Bridgeport / Chinatown area. read more

Lawrence Fish Market always comes through with the sushi party trays. You can order online for pickup and it's very convenient. The presentation of the tray is beautiful and the sushi is always fresh and delicious. It doesn't break the bank, either! Always a good price and thinking of getting another tray for NYE if they are open. This is more of a carry-out place but there are a few tables inside if you wanted to dine in. It's nothing fancy but their sushi is! Inside, it's also a little mini convenience store and they sell Asian chips and other grab and go items. Highly recommended ordering from them if you never have before. read more

SO much better than the Chinatown location. Though, the Chinatown spot is still good. We ordered à la carte. I kinda messed up the order, but it still worked out The individual nigiri (ōtoro, fatty salmon, and eel) were THICCCK and delicious. Everything is made fresh to order, so there is a bit of a wait, but it's 100% worth it. Not to mention, all the prices are SO inexpensive for the quality of the fish. The rolls were solid too, especially the crunchy negi spicy salmon roll. It's definitely a hike to get here, but absolutely worth the trip. read more

This place looks like a little store front. I recommend you call your order in. I ordered my favorite Maki Tray A1. It includes a Dragon, Spider, California, Spicy Negi salmon and ET roll. I also ordered the gyoza and crab Rangoon. Remember this is a cash only place, which I forgot. But they do have an ATM machine inside the restaurant. When you get there you notice that there are only about 3 tables. This is really meant for takeout. The nice lady asked me for my phone handed my order and I went back to my place to grub. The rolls are fresh and full of flavor. As far as my additional sides they were good but I think it would be better to order them when you get to the restaurant. Absolutely fantastic. I do not know why I did not make the time to come here sooner. Called around 10:30a Saturday to get a 3A maki tray for that day at 2pm for our annual Hallmark Holiday Movie day with the girls. Found out that there's a 30 minute loading zone across the street which worked perfectly because I was in and out of the store in under 5-minutes. I was in and out so quick that I didn't catch if they even had music playing. They have a bunch of other food available, aside from sushi, and some fish in their case on display. There's also a free tables available to dine in if you'd like to. Which is definitely something I plan on doing very soon. The guys making sushi are back there knocking these beautiful and DELICIOUS trays and other food out and the gentleman at the register was so kind,m and effluent. Chopsticks, soy sauce, sushi back, pay and you're out the door. But when I tell you we raving about this sushi as we devoured it in minutes. I would have got 2 of these or another tray had I know we were going to be so wowed. Affordable, well seasoned rice and rice to fish/filling ratio, plus fresh, great qualify fish. Hidden sushi gem that provides stellar quality fish at affordable prices. We made our own sushi trays and were blown away by the portions for what we paid. It held up even being carried out, too. Food reviews: Banzai--our favorite roll of the evening. Good amount of heat and the chili crunch makes the bite. Summer roll--bursting with fish. The spicy mayo wasn't overpowering and provided a super fresh bite with the lime Mexico roll--similar to summer roll with a few ingredient differences. We both liked the summer roll better with the heat coming from the spicy mayo over the raw jalapeño Moonlight roll--good roll. Definitely had other favorites from the night. If you want fresh and delicious "takeout" sushi in Chicago, this is the spot. Such an incredibly wide array of options, all of which are tremendously fresh. They offer sushi, maki, and sashimi options at very reasonable prices. They have hot options, drink options, and it all comes packaged beautifully. Their fish is directly imported from Japan and they have chefs meticulously inspecting every cut to ensure quality and consistency. We love their fatty tuna and salmon perhaps best, but have loved branching out... scallop, yellowtail, and eel have become new favorites. I went to pickup our platters with my brother (a market regular), and they gave us a big smile upon arrival. The counter service was extremely friendly and prompt, and the shop looked immaculately clean (very important for a seafood spot). I'm actually in awe. Such a down to earth and humble sushi spot that serves up some incredibly fresh and delectable sushi. The staff here are such awesome people who put their customers first. It's very no-frills inside which I love; there's some seating but they thrive on their to-go orders that usually involve sushi trays which they have a plethora of options for. I mean it when I say this stuff is FRESH, it was the freshest sushi I've had I think in my life. And not to mention you cannot beat the very affordable prices they have here ($4 for a salmon avocado roll? Unheard of in Chicago). LOL yall see that picture of an empty box!! I literally couldn't stop eating the nigiri that once lived there long enough to get a photo! Just imagine two hamachi and 4 salmon nigiri and My god were they fresh!!! That ran me $11 while i waited for the main course! Anyways had been craving tuna tostadas and figured I could make them at home so I searched up sushi grade tuna and ended up at lawrence! What a hidden gem it is!! I got sushi rice, bottles of kewpie, ponzu and unagi sauce, a pound of tuna and a half pound of salmon for $75 bucks which is insanely good!!! The customer service was off the charts and they were so fast for how busy they were ! The presentation of the food was stunning and thoughtful! Alone on an island somewhere, the waves crashing against the rocks, the ebb and flow of the sea and life swirling around the sushi chef. This place is nothing like that. Elegant and efficient, this place has become a Chicago staple. Fresh fish from Japan arranged without flaws into various maki's and sushi's. The amount of times I've heard this spot hyped up is quite high, and it honestly met the expectations that were set. The fish was fresh, service was fast, and prices were incredible. I'd probably come here all the time if I lived in Chicago. It's in a really unassuming spot and has very limited side-by-side/bar-esque seating. You're able to dine in, but it seems like it's intended to be a quick stop. It also offers a lot of products (snacks, beverages, pre-made hot foods, merch) that you can purchase. Everything on the menu sounded so, so good, and I trust that you can't go wrong with anything. The rolls are cut into small, easy-to-pop-into-your-mouth pieces. Their uni nigiri was so good, I ordered more despite how stuffed I was after I finished everything. Lawrence Fish Market is definitely on my list for every time I'm back in town, and I can't recommend it enough. Note that it is cash only!! They also do catering orders. read more

Great place for ordering sushi to go! The fact that they reserved 2 spots in front of their store is a plus for customers. I like how I could just park my car right in front and go inside to pay and pick up my order. The store has a little section for customers who want to sit down to eat and the other side is where the fresh fishes are. They are pretty popular and have catering orders daily, so it is best to call ahead of time to place what you want and to pick it up later in the day or after the work. The sushi and fish here are fresh and I have no complaints. The price is decent too for the potions and combo platelets that they offer. I will definitely be ordering from Lawrence Fish Market again! read more

Just to reiterate what most of the other reviews have said, you can't beat it for the price. That said, ever since they opened the second location and gotten some more press this place is crowded, especially on the weekends. They quoted me 40 minutes for pick up on a Saturday night and it ended up being almost an hour. Still totally worth it but you've been warned. read more

Simply put, this might be the best sushi restaurant I have ever been to. Their menu is huge, the sushi is super fresh, and the prices are hard to beat. The real hidden gem is that the sushi is so cheap, yet has some of the freshest fish I have ever eaten. My personal favorite is the firecracker roll which is SPICY! They also have a diced salmon sushi which I think is the perfect consistency and bite for a roll. If this place has any "downside", its that they only take cash and everything seems to be made from scratch so it takes awhile if you are ordering in. Sometimes high quality takes some time. Either way, this will be my sushi spot from now on. Well worth the trip and something for everybody! read more

[CASH ONLY] I was excited to try this place based on all the great reviews, and it definitely did not disappoint. It features an extensive sushi and roll menu and serves high-quality takeout sushi with some of the lowest prices I've seen in Chicago-- in addition to selling fish and other Asian snacks and condiments in-store. Though they only do take-out, they have some tables and seats inside so you can eat inside if you want. I ordered the 33pc sushi tray, which came with 3 of each sushi item, from fish to egg to tofu skin. I called ahead to order on a Monday afternoon and it was ready within 20 minutes. I'd definitely recommend calling to order ahead of time on busier nights. For $40, the sushi itself was high quality and enough for 2 people to feel full and satisfied afterwards. The fish cuts were thick and fresh-- I was especially a fan of the salmon and eel. The tamago (egg) sushi was some of the best I've had in Chicago. This was the first time I ever tried Uni. My sister was always raving about Uni so I had to give it a try. The Uni was ok but I wasn't wowed by it. My personal favorite is Hamachi. This fish is so delicious it's almost buttery & just melts in your mouth w/a little soy sauce & wasabi. Absolutely delicious. Lately I prefer sake to maguro. To me the sake of prepared right is also very succulent & just melts in your mouth. Lawerence Fish Market has good quality sashimi w/decent prices, but limited seating. There have a limited a number of seats but they are mainly a cash & carry type place. The service lends itself more casual, and I noticed they were consistently quite slow to clear our table. I don't think people come here for the food as much as the views. Overlooking Streeterville from this angle and vantage was truly jaw dropping and for this reason I still strongly recommend Miru.

The restaurant houses both an omakase counter and an izakaya, but in completely separate spaces. The omakase side is an intimate, beautifully designed counter with around 10 seats. We were the only guests that evening, so the whole experience felt wonderfully private -- just us, Chef Shoji, and the fish. Chef Shoji opens the meal by presenting the actual fish you'll be eating, all flown in twice a week from Japan or Spain. It immediately signals what kind of meal you're in for. The 20 courses were well-paced and the quality was consistent throughout. Nigiri and sashimi were pristine, but the hot dishes were equally impressive, which surprised me. Both sides of the menu showed real craft and attention to detail. Service was fantastic -- warm, attentive, and never stuffy. At $210 per person, it's a special occasion meal, but one that genuinely delivers on the price. As someone who eats a lot of omakase back home in LA, I wasn't sure what to expect.
