It's an excellent selection of swimwear, footwear and accessories specifically for women. I am not a woman, but I do enjoy when my wife and her friend can find a broad selection of what they need. Keep in mind that it is a tourist town with tourist prices and you will have the right expectations. We stopped in on a downtown stroll. It was a colder week, so we weren't necessarily expecting to get anything, but even us guys were impressed by all they had to offer. Tons of swimsuits, hats, shoes, bags and more. It was all neatly displayed and organized. The owner was also there and available for questions. We didn't end up purchasing anything but it was our top option if we did. I overall found the prices to be rather steep, like a beach bag for over a hundred dollars. It was all quality, however, so I suppose it just depends on what you are looking for and what your needs are. For a shop near the beach, they offer a lot. read more

Terrible Customer Service Experience: The owner is rude and unfriendly! I purchased a hat of which he had plenty of and less than a week later tried to exchange it for a different hat same price of which he also had plenty of AND I was even going to buy additional Items and then he would not exchange or offer a credit or allow me to switch the item, he is a very short sighted owner and unfortunately I will not shop in this spot or recommend it again. I'm writing on behalf of my wife and her happiness with this store. She has always had difficulty finding bikinis because she is a curvy girl & needs to buy separates. We stumbled across Nubia while visiting Capitola about a year ago. The saleswoman was very helpful and found the right sizes for her immediately. The lady even helped with adjusting the bottoms so that they fit my wife perfectly! Yesterday, we went back to Nubia because my wife "needed" more bikinis. (Apparently my wife needs a different bikini for every day we spend at a resort!) Again, we were helped by the same saleswoman and she was fantastic. She suggested a new Brazilian style bottom that had just come in and my wife fell in love with it. It looks amazing! I read some other comments about the prices. Unless you are buying cheap swimsuits at a department store, you are going to have to pay a little bit of money for quality bikinis. Most of my wife's bottoms were about $85-90, but they gave us a deal because we bought several. These are quality suits that last for years, so it's a good investment. I tend to be cheap, but I think that the prices at Nubia are spot on for what you are getting. Great suits, new styles and incredible service! read more

I walked in with my daughter (7) and the sales associate was very personable, friendly, and helpful! She gave us many options to try and let her pick out a scrunchie when we were checking out. This is the best place in Santa Cruz area to get a designer swimsuit. I treat myself to one every summer and wouldn't go anywhere else. I did have to knock one star off for the customer service. I did some shopping here for my long vacation that ended before it even started thanks to COVID-19. I honestly don't do a ton of clothes shopping and try to limit my consumerism but the bathing suits here were so pretty. I'm assuming the lady who helped me was the owner. She was incredibly patient and helped me try on suit after suit. I was so surprised at the adjustments she could make to fit the suit properly to my body. Who knew?! Ladies, take note, you could have a perfect bathing suit and if it's not adjusted right it might not be doing you justice! Or, you could think something doesn't fit you, not knowing you just have to change a couple things, loosen a strap, move a few strings. I had a wonderful shopping experience! Since I do usually try to shop consciously, my only critique would be, it would be nice if they had a section of fair-trade and/or eco friendly suits highlighted in the store. read more

My daughter and I went to this store last weekend August 13, 2022 when we were in Capitola, it was close to closing time. These two young ladies (wish I had gotten their names) were working and greeted us with a smile and were so kind. They helped my daughter which is big chested and hard to fit, find a swimsuit. They made her feel comfortable and we left there feeling happy and taken care of. I felt like we were at Nordstrom's. Not sure who these ladies were but WOW what customer service!!!!! I usually don't like to be helped during a bathing suit journey. Let's face it, it's truly a journey: finding matching tops and bottoms when you're different sizes for both, feeling good or bad about whatever you ate the night before and then ultimately having to show the sales lady your choice. It's a daunting task for us women!! I usually try to fly under-the-radar and sneak into a dressing room and avoid all help...Nubia was different for me. The sales lady was super sweet and not over-bearing like most other places. I ultimately found a new style top that I'm very excited about--a top I would not have found or tried on without her help. Based on that alone, they should get 4 stars. I just thought the service was terrible. I came in excited to buy swimsuit and about to pay around $150. However, they acted like they didn't want to help me. When I asked for a small, she came back and gave me a medium, either thinking I wouldn't notice, or because she wasn't paying attention herself. I was dreading this task, so I decided to go to a place that specializes in swim suits. I was very pleasantly surprised. They pointed me in the right direction (ok, I'll say it: it was the section with one pieces for women who have something to hide) and suggested styles for my body type. I went back to the store to see if they would exchange or fix it and they acted like it was my fault the material broke. The male worker was very rude and I will never shop there again. This place was great! I came in looking for a bandeau top bikini since I wanted a suit to wear prior to my wedding, and I don't want to get tan lines since the dress is strapless. They gave me lots of help with trying to find a suit, and even helped me to find a suit that I would have never have tried on without some prodding - and it turned out to look great on me, so I bought it. This is hands down the best place to buy a bathing suit. I'm pretty sure I will never buy a suit anywhere else. They carry high quality brands that are worth every penny and the salespeople are experts at helping to pick out a flattering suit. Don't just go in and browse through the suits, because you can't really tell what it looks like on a hanger. Tell the saleswomen what you're looking for and they will help find something perfect. At first I wasn't sure about the suit I was handed to try on and would not have picked it myself, but I LOVED it when I tried it on. They really know what they're doing. There are tons of hot brazilian bikinis to choose from and lots of other styles too (american, tankini, etc). I bought one suit and then came back a few weeks later to buy another one and they told me if I bought a third I could have 50% off, so I did! She was attentive without being pushy, made me feel comfortable and helped me try on 10 suits is about 20 minutes. Both Barb and the owner listened to my likes and dislikes and found me more suits to try all that were my style & size, while I was in with my first picks. This store has been in Capitola village for ages and I hope it never leaves, my go to place for luxury bathing suits and lounge wear!! Left suit in hand & totally satisfied. We live right around the corner from here and finally had time to spare and check out the little shop today. Super cute bathing suits. As my girls and I walked into the shop, the worker ( I'm assuming is the owner) didn't say hi, she looked at us like she was disgusted with us being in her store. I have never felt such hate from anyone around the other surrounding shops. Just here, we were always greeted with a warm smile at the other surrounding shops. I usually pay the same amount for swimming suits like the ones she had. So my intentions were, if I find something I like, I would of purchase. My 7 year old found some swimming suits for her size. And the lady walks over and looks at me and says those are only for 2t to size 10 in girls, in a rude manner. Didn't offer to help us or anything. Although she has good reviews and I had high hopes of purchasing a swimming suit from here. But because of how the associate treated us. I cannot get past the horrible assumptions that she might have had of us...maybe she thought we were low class individuals that were not intending to purchase anything..?? I make over six figures a year and at the time walking into her store I was dressed pretty decent..don't understand what her issue was..maybe she was having a bad day..I would hate to pull out the racists card. I'll give her the benefit of the doubt and I might come back to purchase a swimming suit, because I love the styles and materials. I have bought three suits from this place over the past five years. That said, all sales are final! This establishment is banking on the tourists who have extra spending money.
