    Matcha latte
    Sudatta J.

Blue Bottle Coffee makes one of the best matcha lattes (default: oat milk) I've had. Rich, smooth, and not too sweet -- just the right balance. The ambience is calm and welcoming, and the service is always great. A perfect go-to for a quality matcha break!

Spacious cafe with a great atmosphere and plenty of room to sit and work. The big windows bring in lots of natural light and make the space feel open and welcoming. The seating is well arranged and comfortable, which makes it an easy place to stay for a while. I tried their sweet latte for the first time and really enjoyed it. Parking was very convenient with a garage right across the street and additional parking available all around the area. The cafe is located in downtown San Mateo, surrounded by many restaurants and a movie theater, so it is a great spot to stop by whether you are working, meeting up with friends, or just hanging out. Overall, a great place and I would definitely come back again.

    Sweet Latte & Caffè Mocha

Stopped by for a quick coffee early morning and I loved how airy and quiet the seating area was. Sweet Latte - ordered it half sweet and it was perfect. The coffee was very smooth and kept me going for the rest of the day. This was my favorite out of the two drinks. Caffè Mocha - tasted like hot cocoa with hint of espresso. It wasn't as sweet as hot cocoa but it was definitely rich. Would recommend if you like hot cocoa.

Convenient corner location, arrived early so lots of street parking available. Many seating options, indoor or outdoor. Grabbed a TGTG to try some pastries and a was feeling a Hot chai latte. Tasted great although I like my chai creamier. Biased though- my South Indian bestie made fresh chai over stove with various spices and can never get one similar to hers. Pleasant & chill morning with Good early morning vibes from staff . Would visit again if I'm close by.

Americano (Hayes Valley roast) was terrific as always. Tried the sticky bun and it was probably the best pastry I've had off the menu.

081725 BFF took me here for a much needed caffeine fixed - staff was friendly and prompt when ordering. I got a small mocha latte with almond milk. It was chocolatey and the temperature was just right. Well worth checking out - their decor is trying to be Apple but hey, 'tis the Bay Area.

Blue Bottle is a modern, cozy, and spotless coffee shop downtown -- the kind of place that makes you feel like you're in a magazine ad for "productive mornings." You can taste the quality in the beans and the care in the milk -- this is not your average corner coffee. Sure, the cup sizes are on the smaller side, but it's definitely a quality over quantity situation. The moment you walk in, you get peak coffee shop vibes: people tapping away on laptops, AirPods in, tiny group conversations drifting in the background. Even though there's a steady flow of customers, it never feels too crowded thanks to their quick, efficient service. You get your caffeine fix and keep your sanity. Great place, Austin Yee

Sweet latte on a cold rainy day downtown San Mateo. Service is quick and I love the atmosphere, my son says it reminds him of walking into an Apple Store. lol Coffee is getting pricey, but once in a while splurge is ok.

Blue Bottle is usually a solid spot to grab a coffee and a bite. This one is quite a nice shop. A beautiful space, solid coffee, and decent food. My only real complaint is that a small (no syrup) iced coffee and a tiny breakfast sandwich was $20 before even tipping. I'm not sure if I could justify a return visit at that kind of price.

I met a friend here for a coffee and kept it simple. Got a juice and a cookie which hopefully canceled each other out.

Came by to hang for a bit in a morning while I wait for my car service to be done. This place is always spot on clean with a refreshing ambiance. The staff are accommodating and friendly. I ordered a matcha latte and a breakfast sandwich. Which I didn't wait long to be ready. Found a nice book area for my privacy while I enjoy my latte and sandwich and bury myself on a book. It was quite peaceful and relaxing. Won't hesitate to come again.

Stopped by Blue Bottle in downtown San Mateo--Really nice spot on B st. Lots of seating and open space. The Iced oat latte I ordered was smooth and not too sweet. Thanks! Anthonyxibarrax

The room is quietly elegant, its Middle Eastern influences expressed through considered décor rather than theatrical excess. There is an appealing sense of decorum here; a place designed to encourage lingering rather than turnover. The coffee is similarly assured. Turkish coffee possesses the requisite depth and bitterness, while the rose-cardamom-honey latte introduces floral sweetness and spice with admirable restraint. The pastries and sweets--particularly the baklava and kunafeh--provide a luxurious counterpoint without descending entirely into confectionery excess. At roughly $10-$20 per person, Sama occupies a sensible price point for an experience that feels considerably more considered than the average neighborhood coffee shop. Sama is, ultimately, a café with a point of view and that is increasingly rare. The service was designed to provide you with a feeling that you're like a beloved family member. The space is clean, modern, and aesthetically nice, but it is pretty small and not really the type of café I would hang out at for hours. It reminded me more of a busy boba shop where you grab your drink and go. We came around 1 PM and waited about 10 minutes. They only allow around six people to queue inside, so there was a pretty steady line of people waiting outside. This place gets BUSY. We tried the black sesame iced latte and a single origin pour over. The pour over was easily a 10/10 for me. I love light roasts that are super fruit forward, bright, and almost tea like, and this was exactly that. The barista was also incredibly friendly and even shared his recipe with me, which I really appreciated. The black sesame latte was one of the drinks we kept seeing on social media, so obviously we had to try it. Unfortunately, it was not our favorite. The black sesame tasted pretty grainy and bitter, which clashed with the sweetness of the coffee rather than complementing it. I would probably give that drink a 3/5. One thing I really liked is their whole bean selection. They had a ton of freshly roasted coffee available, including beans from Hydrangea and Black & White. Overall, Kaizen gets a 4/5 from me. The pour over alone is enough to bring me back, but I was expecting a little more from their black sesame iced latte

This was my first time trying Cafe Kazka, and unfortunately, I was very disappointed. The…read morerestaurant seemed seriously understaffed and very disorganized. I ordered the lemongrass pork jaw rice. There were only about six pieces of meat, and the lemongrass was chopped into very tiny pieces and mixed into the sauce. The problem was that the lemongrass was extremely tough, almost like small pieces of tree branches, and impossible to chew. I had to spit them out, but because they were chopped so finely and mixed throughout the sauce and meat, it was very difficult to eat. If this is how they prepare the dish, they should reconsider the way they cook and serve lemongrass dishes--or consider removing this dish from the menu. I also waited about 30 minutes for my food. After such a long wait, I expected the food to at least arrive hot, but it was already cold. It seemed like the food had been sitting in the kitchen for a while because there weren't enough staff to bring it out to customers. The table service and cleanliness were also disappointing. There were no staff available to clean the tables, and I actually saw customers moving previous customers' dirty plates to one side and wiping the table themselves. Our table was also extremely sticky. The restaurant really needs to review its food delivery process. Instead of having staff run around the dining area trying to find the right table number, they could simply have customers pick up their food using an order number. This would probably make the process much faster and more organized. Overall, the food was just so-so, the service was slow, and the whole restaurant felt very unorganized. Unfortunately, I will not be coming back.
