[[HIGHLIGHT]]The location was very scenic.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The staff was friendly and attentive. We had it all including appetizers main dish and desserts that were to die for. Portions were generous and pricing very good. This was my first time there but will definitely go back again

Never disappoints this place has the best Italian seafood in Texas! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Great food, service and atmosphere![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Cannot go wrong here! We had Navea and she was great. The hot garlic knots as starters, the seabass, the lobster ravioli and pasta were beyond excellent! Thnx to the Gennaros team for an all around great lunch!

Came for Valentine's Day dinner. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Gennaro's has an Old World Italian vibe to it, rustic and charming all around.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Chelsea was our server and offered the specials as well as menus after we'd been seated. We opted for the Valentine's Day special for two which consisted of 2 large crab stuffed mushrooms as an appetizer with entrees of halibut and ribeye steak with a side of lobster ravioli and house salad with blue cheese. We chose a glass of Pinot Noir for our meals as well. The salads were simple, tasty and fresh. Appetizer was enormous and crab was delicious and generous amount as well. The clear winners were the entrees!! The halibut was out of this world, succulent and tender. The steak was juicy, tender and not too much marble, perfection!! Chelsea came around often enough to check in on us and offered us dessert at the end of our meal. We (I,lol) happily took a white chocolate cheesecake with raspberry drizzle home!! Thank you for the outstanding service, Chelsea, and a huge shoutout to the chef!!! It's lovely when a special occasion comes together and this restaurant prides themselves on being top notch and it is a pleasure to recommend them highly. Already looking forward to our next visit!!!

Bread with an olive oil sauce. In addition they obliged me to have my beer served in a wine glass.

When traversing anywhere outside of San Antonio I always look to Yelp reviews for a point of reference. I try to align reviews people write, with my own experiences. Most times the review is spot on. Especially when it is a place with mass notoriety. Having said that there are always variables. Service, ambience and food rarely collide. Sometimes one thing can overtake another quality, which creates an imbalance in the consistency of reviews. I've heard many great things about Gennaro's Trattoria, by people whose taste I value. So we went taking the scenic route, which felt like it was part of the experience. It is hidden deep somewhere in the valleys of Canyon Lake. Once arriving here I noticed how small and unassuming it was; where Main Seating was concerned. I have to preface by saying I did make reservations. Even though we got there when it opened and it was empty, I implore you to make them. The interior is rustic and feels like an Italian Villa. Frank Sinatra standards are playing above. I have heard people chime in about the service. Or lack thereof. In our experience the service was excellent. The staff operates with high professional standards. I saw a server straightening out the table cloth in his station. Our server too was extremely professional and friendly. The server took our drink orders: wine for my partner and the McConauhaze IPA for me. Since the milieu was classy I requested my beer to be served in a wine glass. Their menu has all the Italian standards: pasta, seafood and meat dishes. It is not reinventing the wheel. My partner went with a seafood dish and I went with their Chicken Parmesan. To accompany our drinks an offering of bread with olive oil was served. It was really good. As I have stated before I am not a passive observer. Even though I am quiet and tend to be very shy I am observing everything. For example I saw a couple of customers, let me add many customers doing "Girl Time" or "Catch Up Time" with their friends. One pair were speaking in perfect Italian, as in a Fellini movie. There were two teachers playing hooky, popping open a bottle of champagne. Taking a mental health day break I presume. After a momentary wait the server brought all our items to our table. Recently I have been using a restaurant's Chicken Parmesan as a point of reference. I will say the portions are huge. For my taste I wish the sauce had more seasoning. The pasta seemed like a linguini, a bit thick. And the breaded chicken seemed to be from a thin cut. The flavors together seemed okay but I was wanting something somewhere between "sweet" and "tangy." If this were in San Antonio would there be a hype and excitement about this place? Maybe. In my opinion being tucked away in Canyon Lake adds to its popularity, simply because there is nothing else like it there. If you want to go on a lunch or dinner date. Maybe catch up with the girls or some friends this is the perfect place to do that. For my money this place feels above a casual affair. And stepping into the patio area makes that notion clear. Although the food was good I feel the ambience and service superceded it. Still I would definitely recommend this place. PS. I wish I drank wine like my partner, to fit in with this classy place. But alas I'm a simple beer drinker with complicated IPA issues.

This is a great Italian restaurant. The food and service was perfect! The next time I will order the chicken parmigiana. One of the diners in our group had one and it was huge, plus he related it was the best he had ever eaten. I recommend reservations. We did and were promptly seated, even though others were waiting. Don't forget dessert!

Wowser! Fabulous experience! We love Gennaro's and visit several times a year. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant takes me back to my many visits to Italy.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]While it can get a bit noisy during peak hours, we prefer to arrive at 11 for the lunch run.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Servers are always so attentive and engaging. The food....well, it's fabulous! Highly recommend this establishment.

What a gem! How lucky this town is to have a culinary experience such as this! It's an authentic, family- run, very Italian, made-from-scratch restaurant with great service (Darline took amazing care of us!) and a nice atmosphere for both indoor and outdoor seating. Reservations are very easy to make online, and this is highly recommended. This place is uber popular and fills up quickly. We reserved two days in advance and the first available table for two was at 8:15 unless we wanted to have dinner at 4:30. So... yeah, book this in advance! And I can totally see why it's so popular. This restaurant would do well in any city in the world and it happens to be right here in Canyon Lake, TX. Pastas and bread are made in house, as is their Italian dressing. Desserts are made from scratch at a sister restaurant (same family). And the produce, steak, fish and other ingredients are of high quality. For our appetizer we had Mussels Al Pepe, which were so danged good we used the mussel shells to scoop up the broth in addition to dipping our rustic sourdough bread into it. It was amazing! The beef medallions with rigatoni were excellent. Tender beef was accompanied by al dente noodles accented with spinach, tomato, and mushrooms. But the star of the show was the halibut with lobster ravioli and grilled shrimp. I'm still dreaming about it! What a perfect dish. They also had amazing wine deals. We ordered Flowers Pinot Noir (Sonoma Coast) and only paid $60. That is the most amazing deal on a highly recommended wine. I was shocked. I can't imagine passing through here again without visiting them again. Again, reserve your table well in advance, and be prepared for great, Italian fine dining. It's worth the wait. (And it's worth the weight!)

Had a fantastic date night meal at Gennaro's and would highly recommend getting seating on the patio outside if the weather is nice. My boyfriend and I visited Italy last year and the layout and scenery took us back! I had the Manzo Portabella (really tender meat medallions and the portion size was very filling. Could have used a tad bit of salt for my tastes, but very good overall!) and he got the gluten free Pollo Alfredo (it was done a special way with pesto added- can't remember the name of this secret menu change, but ask your waiter/waitress about it!) Both were very tasty, We appreciate that they can accommodate for gluten allergies/sensitivities with their GF pasta substitutions. Our waiter, Ryan, was super friendly and attentive, and we enjoyed our conversations with him between courses. After dinner we perused the garden behind the restaurant with was FULL of fruit trees of every kind. We both love gardening and had fun identifying the plants and admiring the layout- WELL DONE! Would highly recommend visiting Gennaros for a special date or celebration. Prices were a tad higher than other places, but nothing crazy for the quality of food you're getting and the ambiance you get too!

How do you make a reservation? They are not answering the phone or responding to emails. They are still open, right?

I just called to make a reservation. Maybe they were closed at the time you called? Not sure what their hours are, we went for dinner. It appears they're closed Mon/ Tues…

    Are they open Christmas Eve?

Not for dinning, only to pick up orders from 10am to 1pm. They are closed every Monday and Tuesday.

Something about the pictures I seen made me interested in going and the Italian food . What an amazing experience food was amazing as I ordered the meatballs Caprese salad and the margarita pizza . The most exciting part was to find out that the owners Sandra and her husband were from the bay area where I'm from and we're so nice and familiar to us and made us feel At home . She even offered next time to let her know if I was coming, she would show me around her vineyard . We had a table of 6 with 3 separate checks and told our waitress before ordering that we had Groupons. She said nothing about an issue at the time, but when it came time to pay, they suddenly refused to honor them. The Groupon clearly states "1 per transaction," not "per table," yet they still wouldn't allow it. It was also supposed to be a birthday dinner, and absolutely nothing was done to acknowledge it. The service was slow and inattentive, and to top it off, they were out of SIX different items on their menu - including coffee! We ended up paying full price for a mediocre meal and still lost the money spent on the unused Groupons that they marked as used. They stated that we coukd use another time but we will NEVER return. We asked to speak to the owner but was told theybwere not there even though q0 min prior the waitress stated that she had to get the owner to redeem groupon.
