Service was friendly, good and prompt. The menu has something for every mood, appetite and taste. The food came quickly, even though it was during lunch time. The portions are generous. We had the chicken fried steak, a hamburger, and two different pasta dishes: well seasoned, not salty, nicely presented. The cornbread is yummy. I even liked the country gravy...I am usually not a big fan of that. Our experience was such, that we ordered dessert and coffee: the peach cobbler is delicious, the apple-pie pretty good: everything has flavor...not just sugar and calories. Anybody who says the food here has very low standards. Had an overnight lay over and this was the easiest place to go. Before going in, it looked like a good option. Got seated very quickly by my waitress, forgot her name but she was seemed like the shy quiet type, wearing glasses, but anyway...gave me the menu, I asked for water and it arrived only two 3rds full, kind of like someone had taken a drink out of it. At least the glass looked clean, so I was fine with it. Some time passed before she came back to take my order, between 10-15 minutes. The menu had the chicken fried steak highlighted with a star, so I asked her about it, and she said it was what they were known for, but her favorite was the chicken fried chicken, so I said great, I'll have that. When my food arrived I was pretty starved from all the travel delays, so I couldn't wait to dig in, but guess what, she hadn't given me any utensils. I waved her down when she finished taking an order at a nearby table to ask for some. She said she'd be back right away. Well guess what, almost 10 minutes passed and I had to wave her down again, and she said sorry, I totally forgot. When I finally got to try the food, guess what, it wasn't the chicken fried chicken, it was the chicken fried steak. Wrong order, but I was so hungry and didn't want to wait for them to correct my order I just ate it. It was nothing to rave about, pretty dry, and good thing it came with gravy because it needed it. The side of vegetables and okra were pretty much slop. Remember, this is someone who hadn't eaten for almost 8 hours and starving, so normally a TV dinner would be a glorious meal. I hadn't even finished eating yet and she brought me the check. Wow, i thought, of all the things you bring over quickly? I didn't look at the bill until I was finished, but guess what, they already added the tip to the bill. What the heck??? Food is really good here and I used to eat here a lot be use its close to my job. However in the past three weeks I've had my information stolen in two separate cards. I called the restaurant and was told I would be called back by the food and drink manager after the evening manager gave me some attitude but ultimately took my info. Wait staff was real friendly but I just don't trust them anymore. Shame because the food really was great. However, today we arrived, chose to order a-la-cart (was told later that orders can expect at least a 20 min delay over the buffet). I asked if hash browns could be substituted for country potatoes. Sure. Our food arrived cold and, on my plate was a McDonalds style deep fried square of greasy hash browns as well as country. My toast came after I had finished. My wife's waffle was cold, well done and hardly edible. She had to remind the waitress of the fruit which again took half of the meal to receive. This is the restaurant inside the Holiday Inn near the Bush airport. I was staying nearby and decided to see whether they had anything I could eat. Surprisingly enough, they did. I had the veggie burger two nights in a row. It was an incredibly large portion, but tasty. The fries were pretty good too. The service at the bar was abysmal. I started talking to the guy sitting next to me who waited something like 20 minutes for a beer. I was trying to pay for my beer for an equal amount of time. Ridiculous. We finally got up and got our own menus as our requests went unanswered. So I take off my business causal shoes, put on flip lops and head down to the lobby for some home cooking, Texas style. They feature a n adult beverage called an Eat-A-Rita, the house specialty. Bingo, order that. It is great...and BIG! Order the chicken fried steak with an add on, Indian Summer Soup for an additional $2. The order arrives, but my soup never shows up. She realizes this as she is setting the plate down. DO you still want the soup sir or should I strike it from the bill? I want the soup and she scurries off to fetch it. The steak is large, smothered with white gravy and a small pile of shredded lettuce on the side with 2 tomato slice on top of the lettuce. The menu said there would be 2 vegetables with it. Lettuce is kind of a vegetable, and tomatoes are technically a fruit, but OK I can live with it. The soup arrives and dig into my steak. It is a little bland, but the gravy is good...What's this? The meat is chicken. Where I come from chicken fried steak is beef, chicken fried chicken is chicken, but hey, when in Rome... I salt and pepper the steak to taste and dig in. In the meantime, the table next to me is served their meals. (Interesting group, but they will be a different ramble.) One orders chicken fried steak too, but he has broccoli and mashed potatoes for his vegetables. Hmmm. So when my waiter makes her next round I ask if I ordered mine incorrectly. She asks why? I point to the plate next door and say he has 2 veggies and I have lettuce. Did I order mine wrong? She says no, you asked for soup. I said, the menu said the soup was a $2 add on. She said, oh, I substituted, would you like veggies? I said, nope, you made a great decision, I just needed to ask. Thank you. Now I try the soup. OMG! This has flavors that POP! Beer cheese based soup with rotisserie chicken cubes, sweet corn and diced jalapeno peppers. This soup was worth everything else that happened. What else happened? Glad you ask. I'm sitting at the table after dining and she asks if I'd like anything else. No I say, just the check. She smiles and hurries off. 10 minutes later she comes back and asks if she can take my bill. I say no, you didn't bring one. Eyes wide open and scurries off again. 10 minutes later she comes back and asks if I'm sure I didn't already pay. No, I say and it wouldn't be honest to say differently. Eyes wide open and scurries off again. 5 Minutes later a nice young man brings out a check and puts it on my table...but wait it is not over. I look at the total $21 and some odd cents. Look in my bill fold and plop a $20 and $10 in the folder and lay it down. 5 more minutes pass and no waiter. On a lark I open the bill and it says 2 Stella Artois mugs and chicken strips. I had one margarita and chicken fried steak. 5 more minutes pass and she arrive to get it. Like a fool a say, "Not my bill." Eyes wide open, this time looking at the bill and utters "Stupid computer" while scurrying off one more time." Only 1 minute later she arrives with my bill, which coincidentally was also $21 and some odd cents. I give her $30 and she disappears for the final time. When she returns instead of $8 and some change, she has $6 and no change. I grabbed the $5 laid down a $1 ontop of the $1 she brought me, and told her she can have the remainder of the change that she shorted me plus the $2 for her tip. ($4 and change) We both smiled at each other, and she thanked me for being patient and nice. I told her to not let it get her down and headed back to my room...to write my latest ramble. read more

Exactly what the restaurant's name says it is for weary airport travelers, Good Eats' classic American menu and warm-hearted service are infused with a touch of southern charm. I highly recommend the chicken-fried steak, as well as both the squash and broccoli and rice casseroles. The steak was moist and the batter crisp, just as it should be, and the gravy was passable. Do yourself a favor an avoid this dive (and the hotel attached to it). Went here for breakfast since it was in the hotel and I had an early meeting. Since I still had things to do I asked about getting my order to go. You would think a simple "ok" or "we don't do to go orders" would be suffice. Instead I got a middle-aged woman who acted like I just asked here to personally cook. My breakfast and feed it to me. Like a spoiled teenager in a whiny tone told me "I'll see what I an do" as she threw down her dirty bar towel. Husband and I had a layover and stayed at hotel attached to good eats- stopped in on a late Friday night for some food after a long day. Our waitress was amazing, african american woman I want to say Felicia was her name. She knew her job- she was on it, and she was the only server in the facility. First of all on a day when u r struck in hurricane and canceled flight these people were open with lot of crowd waiting to be seated while most of the restaurant seats were seen vacant. I waiting time was 20-25 mins. Our order arrived and one of the item was missing. Our waitress was little hurried so didn't took any efforts to explain any specials. Everything was a little pricy. Napkins were looking very old and used. But food was okey. At least they were open that day. Overall, I don't wang to go there again. Stayed in Houston for the night and decided to try Good Eats for dinner with 2 kids and 5 adults. Everyone enjoyed their meal and finished their entire plate. The kids Mac n cheese is just kraft which is some what disappointing but other than that everything was great! We had a wonderful late lunch this afternoon. We both had the delicious rainbow trout, which is a very generous serving, with home-style sides of squash casserole, broccoli-rice casserole, and green beans. The bread basket included some of the sweetest, most tender cornbread I have had. We finished by sharing a huge warm peach cobbler with vanilla ice cream. Our server was lovely. I received a free coupon for the breakfast buffet here with my room and I've gotta say it was pretty good for a hotel restaurant buffet. Eggs were cooked to order very fast and the guy preparing them was very friendly. He would make them any way you wanted. They also had crisp bacon and sausage, hash browns, grits, biscuits and gravy, cereal, and fruit. All were pretty good for a buffet. Included was coffee, juice, and milk. I don't know what it would cost if it weren't free but I would say it was worth $7 or $8. Good overall! read more
