Just ate lunch from this place. Overall 4/5 experience. I had the 2 catfish 4 shrimp combo plate. The catfish was delicious 9/10 as was the shrimp. The French fries were boring and subpar. The coleslaw way okay, the toast was, well, white sunbeam bread toast. I would have given them 5 stars but they skimp on the tartar sauce, and when I asked for hot sauce the lady looked at me like I had an alien coming out of my ear. She reluctantly gave me some chili oil (red pepper flakes in oil). I asked for one more and she almost fainted. Not sure how a place selling fried seafood doesn't have hot sauce (Tabasco, Louisiana, Pete's, franks etc.). read more

run and head for the hills i just left from here today at 6:45 and i shouldve known when i didnt see anybody in there. the bbq is dry and old the ribs look like pig knuckles and the brisket is stiff and chewy. i will say the lady was nice and all i can say that. the place was a ghost town not a living soul in there just dont get bbq from here please, the fish is alright but 0/10 wouldnt recommend read more

Got a sliced beef sandwich expecting it to be dry. I was stunned about how juicy it was. Even the lean was extremely juicy! It was probably one of the top ten sliced BBQ sandwiches I've ever had. Typically I avoid sliced BBQ sandwiches since they tend to be dry and I have to dunk them in a side of sauce, but this same thing happened to me awhile back when I was slumming it on far Ease-side of Houston off of a place on Lockwood. Understand this rating is SOLELY for their sliced BBQ sandwich. All other things including seafood I have no idea. Frankly the seafood might be suspect after reading the other reviews but I say give it a shot. read more

I ordered house fried rice had to pull up and wait on food. I asked for them to give me extra soy sauce...well got back to place of business. no soy sauce!! Written in 6 foot letters on the side of the building: "BBQ and seafood", this neighborhood established restaurant's building and décor show their age. Big burly guys come here from the nearby industrial facilities. Let's just say that many of them have a lot of canvas for tattoos... and maybe they come here to add more canvas. First time here, I had the BBQ, which was barely below average, but I have high standards, so this was OK. Not great, but acceptable. The next time here, I decided time was short and used the drive through. I ordered the $8 combo, consisting of 4 fried shrimp and two fillets, with FF and cole slaw and large drink. Ratings: - Small portion of cole slaw, and it was slightly above average. - French Fries were OK, but medium limp (according to the Scientific Calibration Of French Fries (SCOFF), 'medium sag' means a 4" fry held at one end sags 1/2" at the other end). - Trout were frozen but must have been professionally thawed, since the meat was flaky, not fishy, and not over-cooked (fried like a Captain D's, not that I have been there in twenty years). - Shrimp were thin (must have been on a diet at the shrimp farm) but cooked well. - Tartar sauce (?) is really salad dressing, and comes in a small container, sized for their anorexicly-thin shrimp, ... or for a spare sewing thimble. Huge drink is nice, but the Diet Coke had an off taste. This restaurant is at a good location at significant neighborhood streets, and really benefits by the high-school stadium nearby. So, reasonably decent food before/after ballgames is this menu venue. read more

Good solid lunch spot. Had the fried catfish and grilled chicken salad on separate days. I would say seafood is probably their strength. You can get the seafood grilled as an option. Their fries are hot and crunchy. Other meal options include BBQ and wings. Service is quick, you order at counter and they bring it out. Typical price would be $10-$15 including a drink. read more

I would start with the food quality, but it's been 24 minutes and I haven't gotten my 2 meat plate. I'm afraid something bad is about to happen. .... ok well it's not bad. You'll always get extra points from me for making your sides homemade! While I sit here I see most people are getting seafood or fried rice plates. Everything has looked good. My BBQ was ok... avg I would say. He's just not a BBQ pit master so don't expect that. The building seems outdated but very clean inside! The staff are very friendly and nice. You know, I've had some pretty bad BBQ in my day. This was the worst I've had yet, though. The poorly drawn, misspelled sign on the front, featuring a pizza parlor-style Italian chef as the image, even though there is nothing Italian about the place and they don't serve pizza, should have been a clue that maybe the BBQ wasn't so good. Well maybe their bbq is better than the seafood ... However the seafood platters weren't as good ... Took forever to receive order after there was literally no one but me... No one was there to greet me I had to wait for the cashier / server at least 5 minutes and the food took about 30 minutes... Without a doubt this is THE best butterflied shrimp I have had anywhere. There is no place in Houston that can touch this quality at any price. This has got to be Houston's best kept secret! Inexpensive, FRESH, clean and open until 9:00p. I will be stopping for dinner on my way back from the airport every time I come out here. HIGHLY recommended!! read more

I had stopped by this restaurant, and tried there seafood special. The grilled shrimp with fried rice was pretty yummy and the server was nice and friendly. I tried my friend's fried shrimp and that was really amazing fried shrimp. I really enjoyed my lunch there and I will absolutely come back again. I will try bar bae q next time. read more

On the advice of the desk clerk at the hotel we were at, we decided to try Tony's. We were put up by United, and if we are in town somewhere we like to try local. So one evening, one place gets a shot. We missed with this one. To start, the lady who answered the phone was rude, and I don't know if we had more trouble understanding her or vice versa. After the order was done, she told us about 50 minutes, and hung up. We had no issue waiting 50 minutes for delivery, it was just her attitude. Now, the food came about 40 minutes later. Shrimp Po Boy, cold/dry bread. Thick cut fries, cold and not fully cooked. The chicken nuggets were great. The onion rings would have tasted better warm, but the loaded baked potato was quite good. What would have made it better besides hot food? Napkins, fork, condiments. Had we had eaten in the establishment itself, maybe it would have been better, but the experience can also be ruined by poor service as well. read more

I work near by and there aren't many choices besides McDonald's, Burger King, Subway, and Taco Bell. I use to eat here at least once a week but got burned out. I always get the BBQ lunch special - chopped beef sandwich with a baked potato. It's pretty good. Can't complain. I've never had anything else there. Co-workers of mine swear by their fried rice. They have good sweet tea too. I did go there on a Saturday once and waited almost an hour for my to-go order. BUT they were packed that day so...During the week they're pretty fast getting the orders out. read more
