Over the years I have been to the other locations, but this was my first time I've been to this location. From past experiences, this would be my favorite location. Maybe the menu has changed and I had no idea, or this location has it right. We tried the cheeseburger and fries combo, the Sunday $5 clucker special, and their cheese curds. Every single bite was delicious. I cannot stop thinking about that meal! Their cheese curds were not overly greasy like I had experienced at other locations in the past. Also, a $5 fried chicken sandwich is an insane deal - AND it was one of the best sandwiches I've ever had. The star of the show for me was the cheeseburger. I split this, but next time I'm being selfish and getting my own. Cooked great - with a little pink, and paired with onions and pickles... it became my new fixation. Quiet afternoon at the Blue Door on a Sunday in September. We were seated in a booth. The place isn't that huge. We were hoping to watch a certain NFL team but they only had the regular channel options (not the NFL ticket or Redzone) so GB/Detroit game was the winner. Wish there was a way for bars to advertise what games they'll show before sitting down. The Blue Door has two locations in the TC's. The service was okay, nothing spectacular. Walking in, the ambiance was calm and comforting. The booth we sat at had a cute light you can turn on or off. It also had this mirror that would be a perfect spot if you want some cool restaurant pictures. The service was friendly and engaging. The food came out in about 15 minutes! Speaking of the food. Honestly I love all of the Blue Door locations. Whenever anyone suggests it I'm down to go. I believe this was my first visit to this location. It was the same atmosphere as the others. Typical bar vibe. The food is great like all the others. I will always live and die by the Jiffy Burger, but honestly any of their "Blucy's" are great. Wings are good too. One of my favorite sides are the green bean fries with ranch. Service was great as well. We were served promptly by a friendly server, answered all the questions we had and kept the drinks refilled. They have a different specials every day, my favorite was the hash brown beef burrito on Thursdays! It was super filling and had lots of flavor. Rainy Sunday evening called for yummy bar food. Blue Door Pub has been on my list to try for years and last night I finally tried it, and I'll be returning. Visited a little before 7pm and happy to see the place wasn't busy. Greeted right after we walked in and sat at a booth near the bar. Enjoyed some refreshing water on the rocks. Lots to pick from on the menu. A few different appetizers we were eyeing, but decided on cheese curds and wow, those were hittin' the spot. Served hot, fresh, cheesy, light batter, and non-greasy. Perfect starter! Next, we enjoyed our entrees. Ordered the $5 fried chicken sandwich meal and a classic double cheeseburger with fried onions and pickles, and the burger came with fries. YUMMMOOOO! Honestly, the burger is one of the best I've had in sometime. It was flavorful, juicy, ooey cheese, and soft bun. Absolutely delicious! The fried chicken sandwich was excellent as well and HUGEEEE. The only addition it needed was pickles and lots of them. Service from Tessa was good. She was friendly and helpful, didn't check in too often, but still good. Blue Door St Paul had a special spot in my heart a decade ago. When my husband and I first started dating, we frequented St Paul and Minneapolis locations quite a bit. I'd never had a juicy Lucy before, after the first visit, I was obsessed. Sadly the last couple of times in the past year, we've visited this Como location, and we're sure that was our last. The cease and desist and horse kick are my go to burgers, but something is off. The bun is now always dry and dull, it doesn't look appetizing at all. Usually, I wait to bite into my burger so I don't get a mouth full of hot cheese, but the beef patties aren't even hot when it comes, and definitely bordering on raw, just red and mushy. I could barely get through half of the burger. It got me wondering if the burgers were always bad or if my palette is just more refined. The hella totchos though. Delicious. If not for those, I'd have gone home hungry. The service is always great, and there's never a wait. For drool worthy burgers, I'd head to Saint Dinette or Brunsons Pub in Saint Paul. While the original location in St. Paul was by far my favorite (RIP), all the locations, including this one on Como Ave, have a great vibe about them. My last visit was later on a Sunday evening for dinner with my significant other. The restaurant was overall pretty quiet with a few sat tables and one or two people at the bar. We were immediately greeted by the server and he took our drink orders. He was attentive to our table throughout the entire meal and super friendly. I ordered a burger, wings, and fries green beans. All of which were outstanding. I don't make it to Blue Door often but when I do I always enjoy my food. I also ordered a beer that had no head at all because he poured it wrong. My waiter had no personality and never smiled. He never asked how the food was or anything. He never wiped down the bar top when people left. He definitely should not be a bartender. I got my cheese curds fast and hot, but they were not good at all. The cheese curds were all stuck together, way too salty, and most were hollow inside. They don't give you enough sauce. Now I know why the guy next to me only had a couple of bites. I saw this place on Man vs Food (or maybe its sister location), but it was close enough to my hotel. Took a quick Lyft here and I gotta say, it was probably the best Juicy Lucy I have had. It might not be the original, but they have elevated to new levels! I had the Vesuvius which was stuffed with a five pepper cheese and topped with a fried avocado and some spicy bacon. It was delicious and spicy, but not TOO spicy. I paired it with a healthy portion of fries thrown into their house smoked BBQ rub. That was the surprise of the meal since it gave the decent fries an extra UMPTH. As for the service, you need to order by phone which I thought was a little weird. The process was fine so I really can't complain about that, but it took away from the service interaction. It also took a little longer than I expected, but I wasn't in any hurry and I am willing to wait if the food is that good. If you are by UMN and don't want to trek all the way to the birthplace of the Juicy Lucy, this is the place for you! I found the burger to be seasoned well and had the right balance of ingredients. What in the F did I just experience? The Mount Blucuvious almost brought tears to my eyes! Probably in part from the ghost pepper cheese sauce that's made in house which christened the top of my burger- but nonetheless- Outstanding and friendly service (we were the only 2 in there), their house cut fries were the perfect texture and flavor, the ranch dipping sauce was restaurant ranch- my late wife's favorite- My ma had the traditional buffalo wings, and she said the sauce was amazing as it wasn't overwhelmingly vinigary or spicy. She also had a glass of Chardonnay- and our check was only $46.00! It was so good we almost considered buying a hat as a souvenir! But I quickly realized I'd rarely wear such a hat. All in all? It tasted great, but... it wasn't spicy. At all. Ghost pepper cheese what? My side - the cajun fries. Good, but I've had better. Your restaurant options aren't homeruns in dinky. We had visited another one of their locations that unfortunately is now closed. That was my first time trying juicy Lucy's but I didn't see anything special about them back them. We started off with their cheese curds. They give you a lot curds and these were really tasty. My wife ordered their bacon blucy, and I ordered their Mount Blucuvious. Both were tasty, but I liked the Mount Blucuvious a lot more. It came with ghost pepper cheese, fried avocado, spicy bacon and cilantro lime sauce. It had a little bit of heat, but otherwise very flavorful. I tried going to another restaurant that was booked for the night. I'm glad I ended back here to retry their juicy Lucy. We were thrilled that Blue Door had parking. We walked in and were immediately greeted and seated. You have to order using a QR code. We ordered the Extra Crispy Scary Buffalo Wings and the Blucy w/bacon & fries. I started making wings at home because no one makes crispy wings (we can't stand flabby wings). Their wings were pretty crispy. They started out nice and spicy! They ended scary spicy, lol. If you can't handle super hot spicy, you should get the regular buffalo. The burger was cooked perfectly. It was delicious. You choose the toppings. We added lettuce, tomato, onions, pickles and mayo.They put a nice big piece of lettuce which added a yummy freshness to the burger. The fries were delicious. Crisp on the outside aside and perfect on the inside. The staff was great. The only negative was that I wanted extra sauce and I had a hard time flagging them down. Once we did, the guy was friendly and efficient. It would be nice to be able to use the QR code to let them know that we need something. Hands down probably my favorite cheese curds I've tried in Minneapolis - we had the regular curds and flaming hot ones - beware the flaming hot ones are genuinely very spicy. They were both fried to perfection and the flavor from the spicy one was delicious but I could only take a few at a time but we managed to get through.
