Arrived in a pleasant space, greeted warmly and after 2 minutes taken to the pedicure room a few minutes ahead of my appointment. My heel callouses are a challenge to manage. I had my first dermaplaning done here today, and I was at first skeptical because of the steep cost $130 (and that was discounted) but I'm glad I went. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience and my esthetician, Hannah was outstanding. I loved her professionalism and the products she used. She offered me a beverage of choice and I took a Mimosa which was a nice touch. I would probably return but it IS a little too pricey for me, and I could find other salons much less expensive. The lobby is cluttered and not enough space for people to check in and check out. I was put off about the Mimosa on top when I went to take a sip; possibly a weevil, floating on top. When I went to check out, I brought the Mimosa to the woman and said there's a bug in there and she brushed the situation off by saying "Oh a piece of cork" must've gotten in there. Which it CLEARLY wasn't. So, of course she denied. I'm disappointed in being lied to, so now I won't be returning. read more

First visit a 5 star experience! Coming from L.A. I am typically suspect of retail strip mall locations for spas...but this one is a gem and "rocks"! The lobby is small and a bit cluttered but step inside the blue glass bamboo doors into nirvanna : ) I made a last minute, same day request for a wax service...what are the chances? Apparently they aim to please...end of the day availabllity which was perfect. I stepped into the salon, filled out paperwork...serene vibe and i was offered wine or water ( other items avail ). I chose wine...it was good. So it was "ladies night" an ongoing Thursday event night - an awesome deal...check out the website or FB for upcoming events. Tara was my waxologist...Tara was sweet, communicative and a perfectionist...a super quality for someone who waxes. She is n ew here so request her!!!! Very pleased with my results... The Blue Door seems to be a quality place...i will try another service, be back soon and write another review. Plenty of parking. I think anyone booking a massage at Blue Door should be aware of several very problematic issues. 1, The walls of the massage rooms are so thin that I could hear the music playing and people talking in the room next to mine during my massage. 2. This establishment is in a strip mall off of SR64, and I could hear truck traffic, horns beeping and a car alarm in the parking lot during my massage. It was impossible to unwind during my massage. When Blue Door sent an email asking me to rate and comment on my experience, I shared my experience, as I did in this review. They did not reply. There are many wonderful and genuinely relaxing places to get a massage in the SRQ Bradenton area that I have been to: Massage Therapy Connections, The Ritz Carlton Spa and The Met in St. Armands Circle If you would like to get a massage to relax and unwind, I would AVOID Blue Door. Same price as any other fancy spa, but much lower quality... The front desk is high-strung, seemed a little bit snobby, and generally exudes an aura of stress. The masseuse will go way too light no matter how deep of pressure you ask for, (not sure if she was just tired or lazy or simply not very strong). The pedicure was poor quality and the nail polish was caked on so thick that it smudged as soon as I got home (even though I live a half an hour away). The facial was good though and the lady that did that was very sweet and did an excellent job! She even offered to massage my neck and shoulders while the mask set, which I do not think was necessarily included automatically and was just an additional nice thing that she did. The facial is the reason why I am giving two stars instead of one. The facility itself was standard and met expectations for a spa. I was hesitant to post this, since I don't like to give bad reviews, (in fact, I believe this is my first yelp review that is less than five stars)... Also, I still tipped all the staff 20% when I was there because it is the proper thing to do... But I am not going back. Next I'm going to check out Spa Sudeva in Tampa instead. read more

Tonight was my first appointment with this spa. I had a 90 minute massage with Danny. It was a deep tissue massage and he was absolutely phenomenal. Not only is he educated but he's kind and thorough and explained everything. Afterwards he got me a glass of wine and I sat in the sauna for 20 minutes just relaxing and enjoying myself. I went upon recommendations from people on Nextdoor. I went specifically for a deep muscle massage due to severe pain. My therapist, Nicole, was so spot on with the therapy. My facials are always with master esthetician HANNAH who does an excellent job. She was able to explain and answer any skin questions I had in great detail. Update 12/29/18 - When my regular massage therapist isn't available, I go to Blue Door for massage. The past couple times I've been have been good. :) - - Update: second massage at this place. My first massage was by an older lady, it wasn't good. My second massage was supposed to be a deep tissue, but it wasn't very deep at all. I think probably because I'm used to a really strong male massage therapist giving my deep tissue massages. That said it was really relaxing and felt great. That massage was given by Jen. The only one recommendation I have when getting a massage by Jen is to ask her not to put a wet towel around your neck or if she does not to leave it there long. It was hot and felt good at first but really cold by the end of the massage. It tangled my hair really bad. I have long hair. Still - all that said, I'd go back to her with better spoken requests. I put some of the blame on me for sure. I fell asleep during my massage so didn't mention the cold towel to her because evidently it became cold when I fell asleep and I didn't know my hair was that tangled until going back into the dressing room. Again.. the massage was nice and relaxing. Maybe that's just what I needed vs the really deep tissue massage this time. I mean, I did go to sleep and I have been under a lot of stress - so that is a win!! ---- Today was my first time at the Blue Door Spa & Salon. I had a body scrub, wrap and facial with dermaplane. I didn't tell the lady who was working on me that this was an incredibly stressful week for me. I was tense and so stressed when I arrived after my Blue Door. The scrub was nice, it smelled good and made my skin super soft. The scalp massage was nice too and helped relieve some of my tension. By the time my body treatment was done I was more relaxed for my facial. I actually fell asleep during my facial which I've never done before during a facial! I got a dermabrasion done for first time ever and the pampering I received during this service was amazing only to top it off with the filling in of my tad-pole eye-brows. Which I totally loved when she finished, I just wish they would last months instead of weeks. This salon was recommended to me by my wedding reception venue. Since I am not from the area, I took their advice, and booked a hair and makeup trial with Tara. I'm glad I did a trial because it helped Tara understand my preferences before the actual day. On the wedding day, Tara did a stunning job!! I was so excited when she was done because I felt like she'd turned me into a bride. Everything was perfect. One of the things I had asked her to do differently from the trial was to add extra pins and spray to keep my hair tight for the whole day, and by the end of the reception, it still looked great, even though we took a lot of photos in the rain. My favorite pedicure spot recently left the area and I was on the search for a new one when I found The Blue Door. I called and was able to make a same day appointment. Once I arrived I was welcomed and taken back to the pedicure area very quickly. Lia was super sweet and did a PHENOMENAL job on my feet(the best massage EVER)!! It was very calm and peaceful, exactly the aesthetic you expect when going for this kind of service, and the products were of great quality. I'm updating my 3 star review to 1 star. After speaking to several people about what transpired, they said I should have contested the payment. This is what happened- I called for a price for a root touch up. The person I spoke to said $65. She said that the stylist wouldn't have time to dry me, and I said no problem. She did NOT say, however, that it would be $40 additional if she did. At the time of my appointment, the stylist said she did have time to dry and I said great. When I went to pay, my bill was $105. I questioned it and the girl told me because I had a blow out. Again, terrible customer service. Both the stylist and the counter girl knew I was visiting from out of town. Employees are rude. Went there for brow threading which is way overpriced at $27. Not all the employees know the prices. I was quoted $22 when I arrived and charged $27. They do a much better job at the brow place in UTC ($12) and even at SEVA ($9) in Walmart down the road. I wouldn't go back for anything else at this spa because of the rudeness of employees at the front desk and the ones coming in and out of the lounge as I waited. read more

I normally do not complain or feel strongly enough to actually document my complaint, but I feel obligated to do so. My first time going there was a few weeks ago (spa package- massage, facial, pedicure) and it was absolutely wonderful. Went again yesterday and the facial was absolutely horrible - different esthetician (Hannah). Creams were glooped on my face and into may hair roughly and fast - not at all relaxing. Half of the time I was just covered with a heated cloth which left me wondering....what is she doing during this time. It was an experience where I fought the urge to just get up and walk out. I informed the desk clerk upon paying about my experience and all they said was to ask for who I want next time....really? I am going to give this an OK rating as the pedicure (Krista & Esmeralda) and massage (Kasi) was wonderful and my facial from my first visit (Kiera) was wonderful. I hear Stephanie for facial and Kelsi for massage are also great. Be sure to ask for specific people upon your booking. read more

Called salon the day before for pricing because balayage was not on menu. Receptionist put me on hold to ask stylist, even called me back to give the right info on how to book and pricing. Said I needed full color. On booking site it's $75-95 cut shampoo blow dry $45-65 and brow wax $17. Ok I say no more than $200. After color and waxing is done. I tell the stylist is not what I wanted it way to light she says I can come back and she can put more toner on it tomorrow. I go to pay and there's $115 for balayage, $65 cut, $17 wax and $30 glossing and glazing never mentioned when I called for pricing. $272??? $100 more than I expected. Lady says oh receptionist aren't the ones you discuss pricing with it's the stylist. The main reason I called ahead to make sure I didn't get overcharged because I heard this salon did that in the past. She says she will take glossing and glazing off and give it to the stylist for my tip. Completely unprofessional. Don't go there unless you have $300 to spend on a color you don't want. I told the stylist I didn't want blond or orange! Dark brown and brown is what I wanted! Thanks for the crappy brow wax too! read more

I find Blue Doors practices deceptive. They advertised a promotion of buying a $100 gift certificate on their website and emails for Mother's Day and then you get a $20 gift card. So I buy a $100 gift card with this in mind. My wife goes to Blue Door only to be told that only counted if you bought the gift certificate at the store. Bad business. No reason not to honor online purchases which were triggered by this promotion. read more
