ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE ! I originally booked an appointment on Sunday and was told a technician would come by between 2pm and 8 pm i called three different times and spoke to three different customer service representatives as well as two addition customer service representatives online and no one could help me determine when or if a technician would even show up. Each customer service rep told me they had no information regarding the ETA of the technician nor could they provide an onsite supervisor but instead said they could take a message for me to have a supervisor call me. Marianna was the rudest customer service agent my far sounding irritated and was competently unhelpful. three times I left my contact info and the supervisor was still MIA. when the supervisor finally called at 8 pm he said they were super busy and could not provide Any information about the supposed technician who was supposedly scheduled to show up but apologized and said a technician would come the next day 530pm. Day two Jeff the supervisor still could not provide an ETA for when the technician would show up despite my spot now being scheduled for 530 pm @ 4 pm a technician called saying I'm here to fix your AC unit to which I responded the appointment is for 530 I'm commuting from work. the technician then blew me off and left. I called Jeff the supervisor again he still persisted to tell me they were busy he's on the other side of Baltimore and all I could do was wait for a technician that might show up. I then called the company again telling them of my disgust and disappointment for the two day drama and another customer service rep was unhelpful and still no info regarding the actual way this company works. I requested any other Manager or supervisor to speak with and continues to get the same response of leave a message and we can schedule another appointment for tomorrow (day 3). this was the worst most inconsistent unprofessional interaction I've ever experienced. please do not even attempt to deal with this sham of a company I wish I could give a negative star they're so horrible!!!!! read more

I had several mini-splits installed in my home by another HVAC service. At the time of installation and subsequent diagnostic requests, it became clear to me that I needed to use a larger company with a pool of technicians who are seasoned in the maintenance of mini-split units. Come to find out, most companies will only service units that were installed by them. I was referred to Blue Dot from another HVAC service and I was very pleased with the initial service I received. The technician came out the next day and was very professional. Unfortunately, my satisfaction soon dwindled. I needed parts replaced and it took several calls to customer service to find out if the parts were under warranty and were ordered. The customer service people always said they would call me back and a few actually did. There were times when I thought I was being lied to. Another technician came out and spent most of his time talking to a service manager. He had no idea why he was even there. Come to find out, the replacement of a condensation pump is a 2-person job. That technician just left. A service manager came out with a mini-split specialist and they didn't realize the installed mini-splits were not manufactured by Mitsubishi. Blue Dot has the parts in their possession so I felt I needed to work with them. After approximately a month, numerous calls to customer service and 3 visits from technicians, I am still left with a unit that is in need of repair. read more

After taking time off work to be available for the appointment, the service never showed up. After calling 3 seperate numbers and being told this area is not serviced, i tried through online chat. They also told me they do not service this are (in maryland) and gave me the number of another company. I called Blue dot at around 8pm and they showed up at 10pm which is awesome. Tech called me sounding a little upset about the parking situation, well Fells point parking is pretty bad but come on. Anyhow, so he went in the property and did his assessment for under 30 mins, he stated that all the sensors are dead and that the whole unit is not fixable. After all the information was communicated, we scheduled a consultation the next day. the consultant Doug showed up and checked what the tech mentioned, so the problem was that the unit itself is not savable and that we have to get a new one, we also need to address the chimney pipes. They gave me a quote of $5,676.00 to get the whole thing done. I decided to get a 2nd opinion form another local company, they were testing the unit for over an hour and a half. I did mention to the tech that someone already looked at it and they think the unit is not fixable and that all the sensors are dead. the 2nd tech stated that the cover of the heater was never taken out so he doesn't think it was tested at all. He stated that it takes a while for that particular unit to fire up so he doesn't think that Blue dot tech went through the procedure on testing the unit (specially if he was there for under 30 mins). The 2nd tech did agree that the chimney is backed up and it needs to be addressed. The 2nd tech replaced the Thermacauple and tested all the sensor and he was able to make it run. This is a scam if you ask me, I feel like they sent a SALES REP when I requested for a technician that can actually diagnose the UNIT. This is really upsetting because I was ready to take the plunge and purchase from them, I actually just needed a chimney sweep/repair to get that unit to work. I feel like I wasted the $100.00 that I paid for the service call. Highway robbery some people call it. =( Now I will have to get the city inspector to come and check the system to make sure it's safe after we address the chimney on Monday. NO referrals for this company from. I have 1 star because this it the LOWEST option. I would totally give a NEGATIVE 5 stars if it was an option. Summary: Blue DOT is a SALES company so DON'T CALL THEM IF YOU NEED SERVICE/REPAIRS. I've been using Blue Dot for years to insure that my a/c and furnace are both working properly prior to each cooling and heating season. Customer service has always been great ... it's easy to book an appointment ... they call you to let you know when the service person is on the way ... and I've NEVER been disappointed with the technician. Today was no exception. Zach arrived on time and was totally professional and easy to talk to. I would highly recommend him as well as the maintenance that Blue Dot is exceptional at handling. read more

I bought a system from Blue Dot 9 years ago when my original system from 1988 that never had a problem died from old age. They convinced my husband that their renamed system could save us a lot of money and was the same quality and basically just a renamed version of a name brand system. Well, I have never had so many service calls, the techs even say this system is junk, and now it is going out of warranty so I guess this system will only last half as long as my original one, so no savings and not the same quality after all - liars, fraud, misrepresentation - there may be a class action suit one day, wouldn't surprise me. Also, I pay for a maintenance agreement, yet am on my FOURTH SCHEDULING of my AC and heating check (we are combining both now as the summer one never got done). And I was just called saying yet again they would not meet the 8-12 window meaning I have waited at home 16 hours for nothing. Last time i told them I couldn't wait past 1pm for my 8-12 window, and even called them at 1pm, yet got a zero invoice in my door that the tech came close to 4pm and called and knocked with no response, so why waste the money sending him out when I said I would not be here past 1pm? I may replace this system with a name brand one in the future, but certainly not with this company. I am surprised they are still in business, they should put in a name brand system no extra charge for all NuTec buyers as a gesture of goodwill, as word of mouth has to be killing their reputation. read more

Two techs were great: Dave Nash and Curtis B. Service on site was good. I took off a star because although the techs ordered the two capacitors I needed for my two A/C compressors, the wrong two (2) capacitors arrived the first time and only one (1) arrived the second time, so Curtis had to make an extra trip to a supplier for the 2nd capacitor. It seemed like this was a problem centrally. Three visits were required over two months with the first visit on 7/1/16 (maintenance and initial order) and the third visit on 9/1/16. read more

Ty came out today to figure out why our central air conditioning wasn't working (an uncomfortable and stressful problem for a 7-months-pregnant woman!) and he did a fantastic job. He was thorough, kind, polite, funny and efficient. He quickly found the source of the trouble (a loose bolt causing a refrigerant leak) and got started right away on a flush and fill. While he was waiting for the flush and fill, he preformed regular maintenance on the unit, including washing the filter for me. He was very informative, and our dog loved him. Blue Dot is good, but Ty is great! read more

He even came prepared to replace the existing one if that should have proved to be necessary. Blue Dot saved me $8,300.00 today. My central air was broken. So, we called one of the other companies and were told that the compressor was bad and that we needed to replace the entire system (furnace, and air) and that we needed duct work done as well to the tune of $8,800.00. So, I checked out the reviews on Yelp and that's how I found Blue Dot. The Blue Dot technician (Ben) was able to diagnose the problem immediately - a bad capacitor. He had the system up and running within an hour. Thanks Ben. Bottom line: If you are looking for a fair and honest vendor, then Blue Dot is the one. read more

It is 4:30 p.m. and I have now been waiting nearly seven hours for my morning appointment with a Blue Dot of Maryland tech to arrive for our annual maintenance appointment. I have called several times and they either feed me incorrect information about the delay or try to placate me with phony verbiage they read from their computer. In this age of cell phones, texting and email there is absolutely NO excuse for this abysmal service. I will never again contact this company for any reason. Their idea of "service" is from the last century. Patronize this company at your own risk. Giving them nearly seven hours of time while tolerating their lame excuses is something that will not happen again in my world. read more

I was a long time Blue Dot of MD customer until recently. They have been increasingly problematic for me in terms of scheduling and honoring appointments and for their inability to properly service and maintain my Carrier heating and air conditioning equipment. Their office staff is very, very poor in my opinion. I have had nothing but problems with the Carrier system they recommended and installed for me. I'm now on my 3rd compressor (over 6-7yrs) and when I complained about all of the problems I was having with the appointment to have #3 compressor installed they decided to no longer service my property even though I have a maintenance agreement. The office staff is out of control. The inmates are running that asylum! Beware of them and choose a different service provider before they rob and run! read more

Called Blue Dot to come look at our broken central AC unit since our usual service provider was unable to come for three days and the weather was super hot and humid. Came late but that was okay as our appointment was at the end of the day anyway and we had nowhere to be. The entire visit from arrival to payment was only 26 minutes, and the AC was fixed easily. It was a broken capacitor. Happy to have the AC running again and glad the service was timely. That being said, I will probably not be using Blue Dot again as it was SUPER EXPENSIVE. I paid $312 for a capacitor and $82 for the service call. The markup on the capacitor is RIDICULOUS!! I only learned after the encounter how extremely overpriced this was. They can frequently be purchased for $100 or less, the same model I had installed. While I appreciate the rapid service, I do not appreciate PRICE GOUGING. LIve and learn...no more Blue Dot dot me. Update 8/27/2015: I called the customer service number in the corporate reply to my review about two weeks ago. I said I was replying to the response to my review. A very helpful representative said she would look into the matter. I didn't hear anything after a week and called back, she was apologetic about the lack of response and said she'd take care of it. Within a day I got a phone call saying I'd be getting a complete refund check, even for the service call. Today my complete refund came. I can't say I understand it, but I'm not gonna look a gift horse in the mouth. Props to the company for their response, however unconventional it was. I didn't t get an explanation about the expense of the part, but I did get a no-questions asked complete refund. read more

Salesman talked my husband into a premium humidification system. The installer had no idea how to install it. He read the directions, installed it and left. It didn't work. Had to get a senior installer out to fix it. He admitted it was done all wrong. No apology from him or the company. Now it's months later and winter and the house is very dry. Humidifier is reading the same as the outside humidity. Called to set up an appointment. It was cancelled the morning of. Second appointment was a no show. Third appointment made and I wanted a guaranteed time and they could not give it to me. This will now be the fourth day of putting my life on hold to fix a problem that should of never been. We bought a service contract from this company with the understanding that service would be their priority. Our air conditioner broke even though they supposedly tuned up the system, which took 2 visits as the first technician was incompetent, a few months ago. I called them and had an appointment for between 2 and 6PM today. They never showed. When I called, they said the appointment was tomorrow. I called again and again and those I spoke to confirmed the repair appointment was for today. Then they said a supervisor would call. Once again, no call from a supervisor and no service. This company is terrible and I will be cancelling my so called service contract. It is worthless. read more

If you question Blue Dot's service and make a timely request to be released from your service contract with a refund, don't expect any response from them. If you try to call on a high volume holiday weekend, such as Memorial Day, you may get a busy signal for a couple of days. TERRIBLE customer service. We scheduled our annual spring maintenance service in mid May and they claimed they had no record of our appointment so it got rescheduled for today 6/19/18. The window was supposed to be from 10-2 so my husband took off work to be home for it. 2:00 rolled around and they still hadn't showed up, so he called. He was informed that they had lots of "emergency" calls pop up due to the heat and had to cancel our appointment. NO ONE called to tell us this and then when my husband asked for a new appointment they claimed the soonest they could come out wasn't until AUGUST! We pay $220 a year for their fall and spring maintenance service and our (original) appointment went from MAY to AUGUST?! The woman my husband spoke to didn't even seem to give a crap and was super unapologetic. NO THANKS! We won't be using them EVER AGAIN! That is not how you treat your customers ESPECIALLY loyal ones. read more

I called to make an appointment as our heat was making a grinding noise when it shut off. I explained it was a roof unit and that I had a commercial business but it was not a commercial unit. They came right out without a ladder and had to send someone else the next day. He took a look at the unit, disabled it, and said it need parts costing over 1,000.00. But if I bought the maintenance agreement my total would be less and I would be getting the maintenance agreement for free. Sounded good to me so I did this. They charged my credit card and they wanted to send someone out to see if it would be better to replace the unit. I then get a call back from the office telling me they don't do light commercial work and would not be able to do my unit. Well now I have no heat since they disconnected the blower from the roof top and I have to find someone else. Called Pipco, they came right out and found a screw worked it's way out and needed to be put back in place. My cost 144.00. read more

Had an appointment scheduled with a technician arrival time between 10am and 2pm. At 2:15, technician had not arrived. I called Blue Dot and was told a technician would arrive soon. At 4:30pm, still waiting for a technician so I called again and was told "you're next, the technician will be arriving soon." It is now 6:30pm...4-1/2 hours AFTER the previous 4 hour arrival window and no one from Blue Dot has shown up or called. This was a complete waste of my day and time. read more

I ordered the new HVAC installation from Blue Dot almost a week ego. We haven't finished yet. The headache time continues. First, they took out our electronic three stage filter not asking us (today a middle section alone $580 on market) and installed a slot for the simplest 1 inch mechanical filter. From one of the best to the worst. They must have asked us. I tried to stop the installation after discovering a filters problem, but they insisted and told me it would be easy to redo. Now they say it is not easy. Second, after this installation we can't operate even with the simplest filter because they did not leave enough room to pull out a replacement and set up the new one. Then I started reading what to check after an HVAC installation (knew nothing) and found more problems. For example, there is a requirement: "The copper lines should be supported about every 4 feet. A sagging line can trap oil that is needed to lubricate the compressor. If the compressor does not have sufficient oil, it will fail." My situation: the copper lines is sagging, it is not supported every 4 feet. Another example: connections in ducts are sealed carelessly, I see many small cracks on joints. The good point is they recognize their fault and would like to correct. They told me many times magic spells: You will be safe, you will be comfortable. Maybe finally I will be comfortable, but newer safe. I don't trust this company and their installation any more. Technician that came to my house was James R. Absolutely horrible company. Came out to my house to look at my heat pump. All the guy did was used a freon leak meter inside the unit inside the house and told me I had a leak. He never even went to the outside unit. I had it checked by another guy and from research myself, it's impossible to determine a leak without hooking up to the actual outside unit. They are a scam company just looking to sell you entire new systems. Do not use this company. They are a joke. read more

I am rating my experience with Blue Dot with one (1) star on the basis of its charging policies, which in my case I find frankly rediculous. On a lark I scheduled a routine inspection of my air conditioning system with a BD representative who was working the floor at a Home Depot: $39 for an inspection that normally went for $89, I believe. The technician who did the job reported that the motor run capacitor was down 5 ufd from 50 mfd and suggested this could indicate the first signs of eventual failure of the unit and that he could replace it for $280. I questioned the cost, since it only required installing a replacement he had in his service truck rather than reinstalling the old capacitor, which he would have had to do had I refused the replacement. While I reluctantly had the replacement done, I have since come to regret that decision because of the out-of-range charge: With the price of the replacement part found on-line about $80, this makes the cost of the labor, taking no more than 5 or 10 minutes, at least $200. In my call to Blue Dot, the manager countered my complaint about the excessive cost with the argument that their pricing strategy reflects their needs to support their business operation and that this policy and their prices reflect standard practices of their competitors. Those claims are refuted by other contributors to this thread who point out they have found prices from other firms more in keeping with time and material practices. In my own experience for service of the same AC, done my Air-Tech Refrigeration based in Middle River, MD three years ago, the cost was $214.80 for an hour's labor, which cost $90 and included topping up the refrigerant and cleaning the cooling fins. BD's tach could not have spent much more than a half hour at my house. On this site Blue Dot gets a distribution of high marks and a minority of single stars. This may reflect the difference between costs for large installations and repairs like mine. The one star experiences are based on complaints of their prices and also of service. The service I had was good, and while I might have scored my experience with two stars in consideration of that, I want to draw attention to BD's pricing practices that I feel are unfair, a business plan that does not reflect the true costs of work done. If a service call for inspection is not sufficient to cover costs and make a profit, it should be billed higher then $89, and the cost of replacing a part reflect actual costs, not an arbitrary addition to an inspection, with no real connection to the labor involved and stocking charge for the part. read more

I read all of the bad reviews of this company before buying my a/c & heating system from them in July, but I decided to give them a chance because the salesperson was very helpful to me. However, now that my a/c unit has broken only a month later, I am on my 10th day without a/c. During these 90+ degree temperatures, I have been passed from manager to manager, all telling me different things. The company's recording (when I am on hold every time I call) says they have "24-hour emergency service," but I was told that 8pm was the latest a tech could come out. About the problem with my unit, I was told three different things... 1) that it was a 2-person job, so I had to wait; 2) then, that it was Friday and the warehouse where the part was is closed on weekends, and 3) that the part had to be ordered. What kind of people are these? This is my TENTH day without a/c, my 2nd day taking off work to wait for a/c, and still no idea when I am going to get a/c. But I just spent $6,000 with them. I selected Blue Dot for my new HVAC system a few years ago. The decision was based on much research and interviewing multiple companies. I decided to go with them as price was in line with others and someone we knew had just used them too. I was told by the sales person the referral was his customer and that he would be sending something to them for the referral and that if we referred people we too would receive something. None of which happened. I personally referred my boss and another that used them and never received anything nor did the family that referred us. At install I found out that the main reason I had selected them based on the salesman assurance of install procedure was all a lie. The installers called their boss and i heard them on the phone say, "why does he keep telling customers the install can be done this way just so he gets the sale"? They had their supervisor come out and the install was done partially as I expected. The sales guy who assured me he would be there if there was an issue, never returned my call and never showed up. I gave the company the benefit of the doubt as the first service I had the tech was very polite and took care of my home and seemed to be knowledgeable of what he was doing. Fast forward to years later. Each Spring and Fall service has become an issue for service. I book my appointment MONTHS in advance to be assured of a first appointment at 8:00 as I am in sales and have to arrange my schedule. I am always given a 2 hour window but told with the advance notice I will be the first appointment and will be as close to 8:00 as possible but may be like 8:15. I am told I will receive a call when the tech is on the way. Many times I don't receive the call, no one shows up or if they do it is not close to 8:00. This has happened so many times that I make sure when I book I explain the past situation and need for the 8:00 appointment. Now here I sit once again at 9:30 where no one has shown up, no call, nothing. I called and am told there is no supervisor I can speak with, and the general manager does NOT talk to customers???? What?? You run a business but you will not talk to customers? I have to go through a Quality Assurance person but they are all on a conference call. You have a customer that has been promised something and this has happened repeatedly and you can't take their call??? After reading through all the other complaints and poor service issues I am realizing my incident is not isolated. What a shame that a company lures customers in with lies and deception and then once sold can care less about what happens. Extremely disappointed in this company and would recommend others to not consider them at all. I am in a customer in home sales business where I share work with companies based on the needs of my customers. You can be assured I will make sure all my customers know this is NOT the company they EVER want to use as it seems in my case they earned my business with lies and are continuing to tell them as I was told over 30 minutes ago the tech was on the way and I have still not received his call and the 2 hour window,( even though I was promised the first appointment at 8) is about to close. They are not looking out for the customer but for their own numbers. Techs are reprimanded if they don't talk customers into replacement, whether they need it or not. The management staff is a complete joke! No one is the office has any actual idea how to run an HVAC company. And the employees are treated horribly. No training is given because management doesn't even know what they are doing. They point fingers at each other instead of taking responsibility. The turnover of employees is crazy! People are constantly quitting and getting fired. All that matters is how many calls they can run in a day to report that number to the corporate ARS. They force the employees to work outrageous amounts of hours, weekends, holidays. But the management staff doesn't even show up. Its a shit show at best. I would pretty much advise avoiding at all costs. Consistently arrive hours after service window, sometimes do not come at all. No courtesy calls either. Came for a heating repair on our first job and miswired our AC unit when repairing our furnace. Called months later to see the issue with AC unit and they never showed up. Contacted twice, no callback. Ended up going with a local company who told me that BlueDot simply miswired our AC unit on their last visit. When I finally spoke with BlueDot, they advised me the prior technician is no longer employed there. Many apologies from them but no effort in correcting the issue or repayment. I expressed my concern with the lack of quality from their former technician but they only offered to send someone out in the future "if" problems arise for a "reduced" fee. I will honestly never call BlueDot again and ensure everyone in my network does not as well. read more

CROOKS!!! Called Blue Dot as system was leaking water in utility room. Blue Dot showed up and tried to sell my wife a new system and charged her $480 for an A/C tune-up, but only removed a mouse nest from outside unit. System still leaking, called Blue Dot back. Same technician showed up, but this time he changed out the electric coil $25 on the outside unit. System still leaking water!!! Third trip, different technician. He inspected the indoor and outdoor units, but did nothing. System still leaking 2 days later and could not run system once it started leaking water again. Called Blue Dot corporate headquarters in North Carolina. 4th trip Blue Dot made to house and this technician is the first to determine that the only thing wrong with the system all along was a clogged water drain pipe from the condenser., but charged up $480 for a tuneup they NEVER DID! 2 weeks later system will not run. Called small HVAC company "No-Frost Heating and Air Conditioning" in Ellicott City, MD and they determined that the original problem was a "bees nest" in the roof air intake was starving the system of air causing the system to condensate and leak water $110. Blue Dot ripped us off for $480 and did nothing to remedy our problem. Would highly recommend NEVER HIRE! read more

Poor service and professionalism! I had scheduled a routine service appointment with Blue Dot for the afternoon of Wednesday, 16 December between 12-3pm. The call center representatives contacted me the night prior to remind me of the appointment and again the afternoon of the appointment. At 3pm the day of the appointment, I contacted Blue Dot to inquire on the status of the technicians and was informed they were running late and would be there shortly. At 4:30pm I contacted them again and was informed it would now be after 5:30pm before they could arrive. At this point, I rescheduled the appointment for the following Tuesday, 22 December between 8-9am...the scheduler apologized profusely and informed me I was being scheduled for the first appointment. The evening prior to the appointment, I was again called by Blue Dot and reminded of the appointment. However, the following morning at 8:32am, I was again called and informed the technicians were running late due a meeting they had scheduled for the morning. By 9:45am the technicians had not yet arrived and I contacted Blue Dot and requested to speak with a manager. I was passed to the call center manager, Tamika, who informed me the technicians were running late, due to internal training they had every Tuesday and Thursday and they should not have scheduled the appointment for first thing. When I inquired into the status of the appointment, I was then informed it would be closer to 10:45-11:00am, since the technicians were coming from Forest Hill, MD. As a result, I requested to speak with the General Manager and was informed he was in a meeting, but I could leave him a voicemail...9 days later and I've still not heard back from Blue Dot!!! Bottomline: I took two separate day off work for scheduled appointments and the company truly lacks professionalism...I would strongly recommend against using them!!! read more

This is absolutely the worst customer service I've ever experienced! After calling the emergency line last night about my AC unit not working, the rep told us we would have someone out to our rental property between 8am and 12pm. At 11 am my husband called and spoke to Nicole who gave a cliche line about customer service and said the tech would be out between 11 and 12pm. At 12:05 my husband called again ( still not hearing from anyone including the tech) and Nicole told him that she couldn't get ahold of the tech but it's probably because he was driving, but she would call my husband back once she spoke to the tech. At 1:30pm, still no call so my husband called back and spoke to Paul, who couldn't find any of our info in the system. After speaking with Nicole, Paul came back on the line and told him they went to another house with the same last name as ours! He told me there was nothing he could do and to explore other options with other companies but he was sorry for the inconvenience. Side note... Our tenant has a newborn baby and its 80 degrees in the house. We wasted 6.5 hours waiting for them and they pull a no show, when we they could have made a phone call to tell us what was going on! Instead my husband had to call them several times. The lack of communication on their part was a disgrace. We will never do business or refer Blue Dot to anyone we know ever again! read more

tech came right out and said we had a bad valve. unit is 4 months old.No part available. big company like his and they have to order a part.this was Friday evening. 90 degrees outside, 88 deg in the house. My husband is 86, I am 71 with asthema. We have a small dog who is suffering. As of today, part is still not here. went thru a miserable week-end. No call to see how we were coping. nothing.Tech even wrote on the slip that house had elderly people there. No one cared. For petes sake, this is a new unit......please help us. read more

dealt with blue dot.........they came to fix my furnace-i paid for service.....got it started...it cycled one time after they left--lasted for about 15 minutes ,,,,,it did not work again......i called back 5 times...being promised a call back each.......i was totally ignored....if you would of had the curtesy to call me back---then i would not had complained here on yelp...............no...i'm not happy paying for services not rendered...and i do not like being ignored blue dot..........you get a zero from me...........i will not use you again...or recommend ya to anyone.............thanks for nothing to blue dot company. read more
