I love staying at TOPS'L Beach & Racquet Resort and one of the reasons why is this beachside restaurant and bar. It is so convenient, so tasty, and the service is great. I love that I can come right up from the beach, take a seat, order a drink and food all without having to change out of my swimsuit and cover up. While I was visiting, I got the cheeseburger and fries and the BBQ Chicken flat bread. Both tasted great, but I liked the burger more. It was more filling since it was served with a side of fries. My go-to drink was the strawberry daiquiri. It tasted great too. If you are staying at TOPS'L, then definitely eat here for lunch. You won't have to leave property to find lunch or go back to your room to cook. That way you can have more beach time!

The weather was a beautiful 70 degrees, and we were lucky enough to get a table with a great view of the beach and sunshine. We ordered the fish tacos and the grouper bites. The food came out in a reasonable amount of time and was piping hot. The fish tacos had a generous piece of fish on each taco, grilled perfectly. My friend ordered the grouper bites and OMG -- they were lightly battered, cooked just right, and you get so many! Definitely a must-have. Now for the service. Our waitress started off strong by promptly taking our order, but unfortunately it went downhill from there. Once we received our food, she never stopped back to check on us or offer drink refills. There was only one bartender and the place was packed. He appeared overwhelmed, especially with beachgoers walking up to the bar while also trying to keep up with drink orders from the waitstaff. It didn't seem like the servers had assigned sections, as tables appeared to be seated in rotation. Toward the end of our meal, we noticed not only ourselves but other diners trying to get their waitress's attention, which was difficult. Overall, I'd give the food 5 stars and the service 2 stars. I understand it's a beach atmosphere, but with spring break starting, the service really needs to step up its game.

Coming to this location for the first time proved that streak still continues. The LUMP BLUE CRAB BISQUE - Sherry, Cream, Crushed Herb Croutons to start was fabulous. The MACADAMIA-NUT-CRUSTED SNAPPER - Hawaiian Red Sea Salt, Almond Rice, Grilled Asparagus, Wasabi Soy Beurre Blanc was just as good. Yes, something I usually pass on entirely, dessert, the key lime pie was great too. The only disappointment was the piña colada I ordered. The "bar" is set high on this one by the Marlin Bar in Orlando so I'll give them a pass. Service was very attentive and the place itself is brand new. I wish the developer would have made more parking closer to the buildings. In the off season it was nuts, coming here during peak season is going to be a challenge. One aspect they truly excel at is the live entertainment. The music is just right--loud enough for the audience to sing "Sweet Caroline," yet soft enough to allow for casual conversations at the table.

We are typically there at least three out of the seven days we stay in town. Unfortunately, after our experience on Mother's Day, we do not plan on returning. We arrived around 4:30 p.m. with a party of nine, hoping to enjoy some of the happy hour menu and pricing. We were kept waiting in the front until exactly 5:00 p.m., even though it was obvious that tables on the back deck were already available. Once seated, our server was polite and did a good job taking care of us. During conversation, we mentioned the long wait, and he explained that it is apparently "protocol" to delay seating larger parties until after 5:00 so they do not receive happy hour pricing. If that is truly company policy, I find it extremely disappointing and dishonest. We felt manipulated instead of welcomed. The food quality was also far below what we have experienced in past years. The crusted snapper that was recommended to us was terrible and had to be sent back. My grandson's burger was also very poor quality and honestly unpleasant. The only dishes our table generally agreed were decent were the squash casserole bowl and the chicken parmesan. Another disappointment was learning that bread is no longer served. For families with children, that was always something simple that helped while waiting on meals. Between the removal of those small touches, the higher prices, and the noticeable decline in food quality, the restaurant no longer feels worth returning to. I'm not writing this to get anyone in trouble. I'm writing because this restaurant used to be one of the highlights of our vacation every year, and it is frustrating to see the experience decline this much. Chris Tomlinson

Remember we had to tip 18 percent for this service so why would the server give two shi about us. They were already getting the tip. And we only had two adults and three kids (2 at 14). Served nachos, never given any silverware. Went to front grabbed it myself. Fast forward, not to much on the drink refill or clearing an appetizer meal off the table because the tables are average size. Had to ask for those refills, and just water. Time to pay. No clue where the server was then, seen the server standing up front near the entrance. Then Watched other tables get drink refills, and actually pay and began to leave. Wife had to go to the counter to get the bill. Then I went to the counter to pay the bill. Christ our luck sucks. Let's get to the food. Philly steak, boneless wings, kid got a monster burger, and sliders. Guess what, the food is as absolutely great! Go try the food.. other tables were getting. The service you'd expect since you are forced an automatic 18 percent.

Heir menu really doesn't change, but it doesn't need to. They have amazing seafood, great sides and cold drinks. Josh was our waiter and was very speedy! I heard they were known for their crab cakes, but I wasn't a huge fan. My blackened grouper was absolutely delicious. The seasoning wasn't over powering and the fish was cooked to perfection. The salad was my favorite part crazy enough. It was a tomato basil vinaigrette that was out of this world with flavor. It had a sweet base to it that brought out the basil flavor that made us all guess what the ingredients were. What I really enjoyed about this place was that the owner was walking around all night checking on the tables and making sure everyone was enjoying themselves and that the food was perfection. Great dinner spot and really cool vibe with all the red lights and fun paintings everywhere.
