He took all the information and also had my information so I knew he was aware of my account invoice. Just as requested a email came verifying the invoice was paid. I may unsubscribe from emails. They want you to download the app and set up recurring payments. I sure hope I don't need anymore medical equipment of any kind!! If I do I'll have to use whatever company NYU Langone uses. They purchased the walker for me when I was hospitalized.

The aide (Christine) who was assigned to my parents could not have been better. My parents really enjoyed having her in their home. Over time Christine became part of our family. On a daily basis we received written feedback on how our parents were doing. This gives great peace of mind with family in multiple states, the daily communication was so appreciated. Due to medical needs my parents needed 24/7 care. I reached out to Peg to let her know the date they would be released from the hospital. Peg was able to put together a very solid team of aides very quickly. Our family was so impressed with the quality of care received and how professional they all were. She said her boyfriend's car got impounded, so she decided to stay home (but never called the agency directly). I sent her packing and called the agency to ask the same on-call person (who said I would have no help all weekend) why she would send this irresponsible person to my house unannounced AND after I ended the contract. She said the Aide apologized last night via voicemail, so she let her come to my house. I asked why she didn't call to inform me this morning. She said she was busy and forgot! So Monday 9am, I talked to the caseworker (Mrs. H) and mngr (Christine?). They offered a bunch of apologies. They said the 'emergency/on-call person is supposed to call for additional assistance if they can't find an aide (a sorry excuse, if the emergency person does not know basic procedure). I made it clear that I have extensive experience in healthcare management, and I know how many mistakes were made in the handling of my case--their service is abysmal. I made it clear that I would pursue my complaint with the MLTC that same day, and there was no chance to continue my Mother's contract of service. I severed ties immediately. A WEEK LATER ON THE FOLLOWING SATURDAY (12/9) while I was working with an Aide from the new agency, there was a ring at my bell. It was my regular Aide who just returned from vacation. NO ONE AT 'HOME SWEET HOME/CATHIE'S CAR/NYHC' told her what happened, or that the contract was terminated!! They let her take TWO buses to my home for ME to tell her that the agency failed us both again and stood us up with no coverage while she was out. Once she left, I contacted the on-call person (a different woman from last week, more knowledgeable) and told her EVERYTHING that had taken place up until today. She was astounded. She said there was no information left on the case record showing they had lost my account. I told her I called the MLTC on Monday after I spoke to her manager (Christine), and the MLTC had the Medicaid paperwork completed and the new agency/Aide assigned by the Wed or Thurs. This poor communication had to be her manager's fault. I left word that Home Sweet Home is clearly negligent in their training, paperwork AND procedure and have no respect for the few good Aides they may have in their employ. Of course, I never heard back from the manager. As stated--I have experience in healthcare. I can honestly tell you, this is 'keystone cops' type of behavior. I have never seen so many errors in handling a simple case. No one likes to be a victim of someone's job abandonment, but what blows my mind is the obvious poor screening and hiring practices, as well as poor training and communication clearly evident in my case. MULTIPLE, EGREGIOUS errors. I never saw such terrible mismanagement of a routine case in my 12 years in healthcare. If they are this clueless on a day-to-day, what happens in serious situations? Inexcusable!

My best friend always goes to St. James, and while my father is in another facility due to needing more supervision, I don't feel they care for him the way St. James cares for my friend. The attention and compassion at St. James are unmatched, and they even offer iPad calls, something many other facilities don't provide. The staff is amazing, and I truly believe that comes from strong leadership. The head of this facility, Cristen Wei, was our case manager years ago and was promoted to Administrator. Because of my loved one's needs, we have used this facility for years, and I can confidently say I love all of the staff and absolutely adore Cristen. She is the most patient, kind, and compassionate person, and it's clear that she has created a culture where the staff goes above and beyond for their residents. And honestly the pain is still so raw from losing her. There is not enough staff and those that do work there have become so complacent to what is happening around them they don't even notice or care about the woman sitting in a wheelchair completely shirtless!Screaming! Crying! In a soiled diaper! Sadly this is how I found my mother-in-law almost every evening. As soon as she heard my voice she'd calm down. Which leaves me to wonder, How long was she like that?! When she needed to be attended to, the buzzer was useless! I actually had to call the front desk with my cell phone from her room to get some help. I use the term "room" loosely. It's a bed. That's it. I don't care if it's dementia, Alzheimer's or Rehabilitation for a hip replacement Each resident simply needs to be treated with respect so they can hold onto whatever dignity they may have left. As mentioned in another review, family members need to be with their loved ones as much as possible, so they can advocate on their behalf. God only knows what happens when we aren't there. The unexplained bruises...Even if she fell out-of-bed, it is Inexcusable! Mom was in the facility next-door as well.... I can say the same for them. Absolutely disgusting. I have photos - videos and a daily journal. When the time is right, they will be reinforcement! I am emotionally scarred from the experience of watching my beautiful Mother in law slowly die. Our health care system is broken. "We don't have enough staff" is not acceptable justification for the lack of care. Our society needs to RESPECT our elders! It's the what they deserve. What every human being DESERVES. These facilities are about profit and bed/patient turn around. We contacted Home Care Assistance who came and met with us to assess the level of care required and to find a caregiver with the required skill set to appropriately take care of my mother. They found 2 caregivers within a day and reviewed their qualifications and experience with us. We requested an interview with one of the caregivers which was immediately set up. After selecting the caregiver, our Client Manager accompanied her on the first day and stayed a while to ensure a smooth transition. Our Client Manager keeps in contact with us regularly to make sure things are going well and if there is anything additional she and the team can do to assist. It's hard enough deciding it's time to get a loved one some help, so choosing a home care provider is a very important decision. We are very happy with the care and interest Home Care Assistance staff and personnel have supplied with the care of my mother. In a fast moving world with numerous responsibilities to attend to daily, it's very comforting to know that there is someone there taking good care of my mother and to ensure she has everything she needs. In addition to finding qualified help, it was very reassuring to discover the honesty of our caregiver as well. With my mother's dementia and confusion that comes with it, she paid her caregiver $50 cash her first day. The caregiver brought it to my attention and handed me the money. I was so grateful for her honesty as many people these days could have easily kept it.
