The two stars are only for the food. Everything else was absolutely rubbish. We came in at 4:45 pm on a friday and they were holding all the tables for reservations that were WAY later. So we got a pretty seat right in front of the tacky food display where the waitstaff could hear our entire conversation and they could hear ours. I also didn't enjoy that our waiter (middle aged gentleman) was incredibly rude. Aside from all the weird condescending remarks he made during dinner, when he brought the check he said to my boyfriend "I assume you will be taking this". I was a bit taken aback by that. Lamb kebob was good (i got medium well even though I asked for medium rare), sauces amazing, kuftka was dry, pita and olive spread was delicious, the vegetables on the skewers were raw with burnt edges, and the baklava was abysmal. The baklava was probably the worst offender of the night. We took it home and the honey was not evenly distributed. it had all settled on the bottom layers and turned to stone. So overall decent food, but it was ridiculously overpriced for what it is and the waitstaff could be replaced, and the table arrangements should be revised. And for the love of god, do not hold nice tables for later reservations if people come it well before the dinner rush. The place was empty (aside from two tables) when we walked in and nearly empty when we walk out, yet we were able to relish in the gusts of cold air from the door and snooty conversations from the waitstaff and rude comments from of waiter. I love this place! All the food is great but I have to say that the lentil soup is out-of-this-world heavenly!

So we went here Labor Day, at first we thought it was closed because the lot was empty but upon second look the sign said open. We go in and we're told to sit wherever we like. We ordered the appetizer sampler forgot what it was called with the hummus and eggplant salad and also a blended eggplant dip. All very good! We also got the falafel which I enjoyed not the best ever but good! Than we ordered the mixed grill and one person ordered the shrimp it was very good especially the lamb chop but our chicken was over cooked and charred to much where it has a bad taste!!! We told the waiter and she immediately handled it got it recooked and the new chicken was amazing! For desert we ordered the baklava with Nutella and hazelnut because that was all they had it was good but didn't taste fresh!! We got the hot Lebanese tea which was amazing!!! Just tried Blue Fig for dinner and found it to be, in a word, mediocre. It's certainly acceptable *for the area*, but it pales in comparison to quality middle-eastern food found elsewhere. The sample size here was small--there were just three of us and we only tried a few things, but it seemed enough to gauge the place. First, the positive. There was one--and only one--memorable dish: the hummus, which was first-rate. (As someone who has consumed a lot of quality hummus--including in places like Dearborn, Michigan, and from abroad in the middle east, I think I do know what good means.) This had a silky, creamy texture with a generous amount of tahini that added notes of toasted sesame. (The other two items on the "Tour of Lebanon" appetizer sampler were mediocre--not bad, not good). The first real disappointment came soon after we were seated: the pita. It was rather thick, gummy, and bready. Tasted as if it had been microwaved for a few seconds before delivering it to the table. Falafel was a disappointment. They were compressed like patties rather than balls--itself hardly a fault, but when such flattened patties are over-fried, as these were, they come out *far* too crispy, even hard. They were over-done and didn't have the light texture one needs inside proper falafel. Crispy outside, light within. That's what it ought to be. The salads (arugula for me, another person I was with had greek) were fine, perfectly acceptable (albeit over-dressed; at least that was my assessment). Another person I was with got the shish tawook, and while he reported that it was okay and perhaps a bit dry, I can't comment since I didn't taste it. But at the very least it didn't stand out to him. Service was fine if a bit slow and unresponsive, and the server didn't seem to know an awful lot about the menu and cuisine. In short, I wouldn't go out of your way for this restaurant. Seems like a convenient place for a quick lunch or dinner, but they really do need to improve some of their dishes. read more

Gave it 2 trys... Our first experience at the Blue Fig was nothing like the reviews. All of our kabob's were so dry and tasteless that a drink was required to swallow them. They were like something I forgot on the grill way too long. We tried again a few weeks later and stayed away from the kabobs. This time I had the stuffed peppers. Once again, the filling was so dry there wasn't enough sauce on the side to offset the over cooked interior filling. Overall the food on both trips was well below average in every category. Can you imagine a salad with no meat and lunch kabobs with 3 pieces of tough filet was $26! We had to go eat after because we were still hungry. Salad barely had dressing. Wasnt terrible. Wasn't great. Come at your own risk. Decided to check this place out on a whim with my bestie. It seems very clean and a small location. The food was moderately priced. I will say that portions are kinda small for the price unfortunately. My friend is a vegetarian and she had limited items to choose from and no entrée sized portions. No bueno. We both agreed that her "Tour of Lebanon" had some flavor issues as well. Bland and the hummus had a wierd texture. I had lamb kabobs. The flavor was very good but the couscous that was served on the side in a small bowl had no flavor whatsoever. I think it would have benefited from being under the lamb. First impression of dessert, the baklava that I am familiar with is generally crispy this was not. But once again the flavor was there and the dish suffered from a texture issue. My mint tea was very good, strong mint that reminds me of what we had in the islands. But for the price the pot should have been bigger. Served screaming hot though. All in all, kinda a bummer meal. Not someplace I'd go to on my own. I'd tag along if someone was determined to come here. read more

I don't know what it is about this little area of South Jersey, but Mount Laurel and Moorestown seem to have a bunch of hidden little gems that are a great surprise to find. Such is the case with The Blue Fig Cafe. I had a craving for falafel (that's not a rare craving), but I was excited to find that there was a well rated restaurant a few minutes from my job. My early lunch left me starving, and I could drive all the way home before eating, so I found my way here. I'll say, first that it was way more than I expected. I thought I'd find a small fried food place, which would have been fine- but, instead I found a very atmospheric, subtle, fine dining establishment. It's tucked in the corner of a strip mall- a quiet corner, and it makes for a great little hideaway experience with truly excellent food. I came for the falafel, taking a sandwich to go, as well, but I had the most sublime lentil soup, and only regret that I didn't have the time or appetite to eat six or seven more items on the menu. I have been here a couple of times, one being today for lunch. Normally I don't have many issues here, besides the staff just rushing around and not really coming to check on you. I can only speak for the awesome olive spread they give you when you sit down. Which is amazing! I order the falafel extra, which is also delicious. I order it every time because I love it that much. The only reason I am giving this a three is because I asked for lemon and as soon as he put it down I saw a long piece of hair on it. Asked for another one he grabbed other lemons and had hair on it as well. I gave up at that point to ask for lemon, I didn't even say anything about the second lemon he brought out. The server was probably my favorite servers I have had there. Very attentive and informative. Unfortunately with the hair, I don't think I will be back for some quite sometime. read more

Went here yesterday w the bf. Was greeted promptly and told to seat ourselves. Was asked for our drink order and was given an olive dip with fresh pita. So tasty! We got this awesome lemon and mint juice but it was kind of like a smoothie..... Can you say delish?! So refreshing and somewhat tart. We also shared the mutabel. That was like a smokey hummus made from eggplant instead of chickpeas. It was different. I ordered the falafel extra - falafel sandwich with feta and a tahini drizzle. Also came with a small salad consisting of zucchini, tomato, and peppers with a light dressing and steak fries. Bf ordered shrimp skewers. That was basically one skewer of 3-4 shrimp and one skewer of very grilled veggies. The shrimp wasn't peeled and the little pearl onion on the skewer wasn't either. We weren't sure if it was to be more authentic and maybe were supposed to eat the peels? His dish also came w that same small salad and some couscous. We shared our plates and we enjoyed everything. We also tried the fig crumb cake. O M G. That should be illegal to serve. It is insanely awesome!! I highly recommend that. We will def be returning to try some more dishes! read more

My wife had been to Blue Fig on two other occasions with family and friends and had good meals We wanted something other than Italian and sushi and this came to mind. While living in philly, we had access to excellent middle eastern cuisine, so we know what we are looking for. We started with the tour of lebanon, which was homemade and delicious. I had the Blue Fig speciality plate, which included chicken, filet, kofta and a lamb chop. Everything was excellently seasoned and charred. The lamb chop was delicate - cut with a butter knife. The kotfa was nicely spiced. My wife had a kofta plate and we both had cous cous, which was simply prepared and provided a good canvas for the meats. Since this is BYOB, I am not in total agreement with the comments on this place being pricey - the food was ample. Given this was a Saturday night and the place was packed, the service was attentive as can be. We know what the cuisine is about, so we did not have many questions to ask of our server. We were bored of the same old with the family and found this place online. The decor is nice and clean but small. They have done a good job with a strip mall store front. Definitely try the Mutabel appetizer. The eggplant is grilled so it has that smokey flavor and the humus is good. Their deserts are excellent and the Lebanese mint tea is fantastic. Maybe it was because we came early for dinner but couscous was clumpy and my rice was cold, although the lamb kabob was done well. We'll try it again for sure. read more

My husband and I ate here for the first time last night. We were a bit nervous, since we huge fans of Mediterranean and Middle Eastern food, and usually have to cross the bridge to Philly for anything decent. Thankfully, we were impressed. Along with the delicious, freshly baked pita bread, olive oil, and olive spread, we started out with the Yalanji appetizers. They were larger than you get at most places and were freshly made. They didn't have the overpowering olive/vinegar tart taste that you usually get when you order stuffed grape leaves. Delicious. My husband ordered the kiwi juice, and it was tasty as it was pretty. For our entree, I ordered the grilled shrimp kebab and my husband ordered the lamb kebab. We both had basmati rice, and found both of our entrees delicious and comparable to what we order at the Middle Eastern restaurants in the city that we frequent. For dessert, we shared the Baklava. This was probably our least favorite part of the meal, as it was not flaky and a bit hard to cut. All and all, it was a great experience. It's a small place, but very well decorated. The owner introduced himself to us, and we found him very endearing and friendly. Our waiter was a bit scatterbrained, but was well intentioned and provided attentive service. I do suggest making reservations as the restaurant is very small, and we did see a family get turned away because the empty tables were being reserved for reservation guests. We would definitely go back. I'm happy that South Jersey eating is becoming more than chain restaurants and pizza...finally, some exciting, diverse dining options! read more

Delicious!!! I have always picked up take out from here but decided to dine in with my mom and sister. My sister is a vegetarian so this is a perfect place. The pita and olive spread was a great way to start our meals. My sister and mom got salads and loved them and I had the chicken shawarma and it was sooo good. :) :) :) I will definitely be coming back. We got to sit on the patio on a beautiful day too. It's a relaxed place and the server was friendly and very nice. Also it's close to a main road but tucked back a little and it's nice and quiet and relaxed. read more

After living in Southern California for a few years and getting some of the best middle eastern cuisine, I was happy to discover this place right in Moorestown. The food is good, but over priced. However, I don't know of any other place that's better and more reasonable so I still dine or carry out occasionally. My only issue is that the food is inconsistently prepared.. my first time the chicken kabob was cooked to perfection. Every time after it's been over cooked and dry so I have to add sauces. $6 for a small piece of baklava, but it's very good. read more

Much to my regret, I did not read the reviews for this establishment before visiting. Rather, I was intrigued by the idea of potentially having a go-to Mediterranean restaurant close to home. Unfortunately, however, it will not be the Blue Fig Cafe. My partner and I thought the food was perhaps worse than average and really lacked that seasoning consistent with good Mediterranean cooking. I ordered the Kufta Kebab and it was served rather obnoxiously on this hanging rack with a plate attached. It was difficult to get the meat off of the skewers and when I finally did, it was only to discover that the center was still raw. It was also difficult to eat off the plate that fit into the rack as it kept rocking around. My partner ordered the Shish Kebab which is presented as filet on the menu provided in the restaurant, but as "marinated char-grilled of beef cubes" on their website. God only knows which is correct, but I'm guessing it was the latter. Overall, we found this restaurant to be overpriced and the quality of food to be lacking. We will definitely not be visiting this establishment again! read more

Ate here for lunch, found it very good. Had the combo app - baba ghanoush, taboli, hummus, and the blue fig combo entree. Food taste was great. Entree was big, three types of meat kababs and a lamb chop and a veggie kabab, couscous. App was very good, but very small, I expect that type of food comes in big portions. Baba ghanoush was different, chunky, but that was good, like campanada. Pita and olive spread came complimentary, was good. Juice drink was great, got the mango. Lunch menu prices are very good. Casual place, decorated nice, linens, good for a group. Service okay, waited for water and more pita, otherwise good. No room for dessert, but case looked really tempting. Overall seemed a mix Middle Eastern, Persian, Greek, even though labeled Mediterranean. read more
