On this little corner of Collingswood, in a sea of so many Italian and pizza places, this gorgeous renovated Turkish restaurant is a wonderful respite from Haddon Ave. For our Lunch Ladies group, we shared a wheel of cold appetizers, all slightly different from each other. I have no idea what it was called, but the one that was slightly spicy and had a similar flavor to a Mexican salsa was a surprise and a delight. I loooooooved the fluffy bread that was served to the table. Fresh, steaming hot, and the perfect utensil for testing out the dips. I'm not sure what it was called - it wasn't a pita, I don't think, since it was much lighter. But 10/10, no notes, give me 14 of them. I was craving beef, so I went for the shish kebab. Hands down, one of the most memorable I've had in a very long time. So tender. I loved the perfectly grilled vegetables. I absolutely loved adored the rice - so well seasoned, light and fluffy. Went to lunch with my lady friends and had such a lovely time. First off they did such a nice job decorating the inside, with soft blues and a porch option in good weather. We had the cold sampler which was very tasty. I don't know everything I ate but I did enough most of them. The hummus was my favorite. I had the grilled sampler because I just couldn't decide on what to get and I was very happy with my decision. The salad was a nice fresh accompaniment to the meal. My favorite meat on the plate was the gyro - a mixture of beef and lamb that was seasoned so well I couldn't stop eating it. I would go back just for that alone. Given the insane humidity, it was raining on and off, but we still managed to dine outdoors under the covered porch. On the recommendation of a friend, we ventured to oba Mediterranean grill. The dining room as we entered was warm, cozy, and inviting. We sat down at our table and we're greeted by our servers, who were friendly, and super efficient. They answered a bunch of our questions as well about the menu. This is a BYOB so they gladly opened up our adult beverages. For appetizers we got the sampler of cold appetizers, every one of them delicious. We also got the grilled octopus, my only complaint was there wasn't more of it! It was so delicious, probably the best grilled octopus I've had. Perfectly grilled, and tender... Just delicious. We also ordered on the recommendation of my friend, the manti, which is actually an entree, for an appetizer. It is these small meat dumplings with a creamy sauce on top. Delicious as well, the tender light dumpling wrappers held the yummy meat inside. I used the complimentary balloon bread, and pitas to dip into the sauce as well as the cold appetizer. For a meals we got the mixed grills and falafel. Again everything delicious. The mixed grill gives you a taste of the chicken, gyro, beef, lamb everything. Everything was hot flavorful and delicious. The buttered rice that comes with it was super good as well. Save room for dessert because they do have some good ones. I had the rice pudding which was super delicious. Definitely a must try. The place was getting so crowded people were willing to sit in the outside seating area. It was enclosed for the winter, but definitely a little cooler out there. read more

The food, service and ambiance are all amazing. I recommend the chicken sautée. The chicken was very tender and stewed vegetables, tomatoes, peppers, onions were well seasoned. It has a great olive oil based sauce for dipping. The babaghanoush, grilled smoked eggplant was tasty with fresh herbs. The restaurant setting feels like you are visiting family for dinner. The decor has an airy light feel with pastel blues and white with cozy outdoor seating in the porch. The staff were very efficient, food came out fast and we got exactly what we ordered. Unfortunately, I was expecting a better experience here. Mixed appetizer with multiple dips, etc was absolutely delicious! Fresh and flavorful, and the quantity was generous. With this came a warm, fluffy giant popover of a pita-also delicious! From there, unfortunately, the meal devolved. The appetizers and the meal were all delivered at the same time. By the time we were to eat our sandwich orders, one was cold, and because the order was incorrect, the other came 20 minutes later. There were only 2 other people in the restaurant dining for lunch, so they were not busy. Their version of pita bread is quite dense, not like the lighter variety presented with the appetizer or that I've had at other Mediterranean restaurants. The branzino sandwich had a lot of bread, lettuce, tomato, and barely any fish, no sauce, and was rather dry. The fried calamari was not as pictured in the photo on the menu. They were the thin rings containing more crust than calamari. I was hoping to find a new favorite here from the photo on the menu. The falafel was fine with more green falafel, which I like. I asked for a larger plate (as we were only provided with an appetizer plate), but never received one. The manager or front-end person was very pleasant, but our server was not friendly whatsoever. Pre concert (Al Jardine) dinner here with my adult son on a Tuesday evening. Was looking forward to a delicious Mediterranean dinner here. Two minutes after being seated, we welcomed a brown ant walking across our lovely white tablecloth. At least it wasn't a cockroach. I ordered the chicken shawarma with white rice. The small sized serving of chicken was semi-warm and the rice was not even warm. I asked for an Arnold Palmer (it's BYOB) which they did not have. So I asked for an iced tea to which our young waiter responded, "I don't know if we have that, but I'll check." He brought back a glass of something dark brown and very bitter, no ice. No doubt this was sitting for days at the bottom of an ice tea machine, or maybe after days in a tea kettle. I told my waiter, who was also the cashier, to never serve that drink to anyone else, ever. He said, "That bad, huh?" I said really bad. Disappointing dinner at Oba. Never again. We went to OBA on a Friday night in September. OBA is a beautiful restaurant in an old Victorian house. We had a rather large party of 10 and were seated with 2 tables siide. Not ideal, but it workrd. I must comment that the service was five stars easy. All of the service people were attentive and friendly and helpful. The food was also very good. The hummus was excellent. And they supply homemade Turkish breads, which were delicious. The Branzino was excellent.also. OBA has some unique Turkish desserts also. OBA Mediterranean Grill - Authentic Turkish Food is exactly that - 100% authentic, delicious Turkish food and I am well-versed in making and eating the cuisine of that region of the world. Dear friends invited us to meet at OBA for dinner and it was amazing. We were promptly seated (yes, we had reservations) and the greeting and service was very friendly and efficient. Immediately, a large, hot puffed pita bread was placed in front of us fresh from the oven. We ordered the Mixed Appetizers, a sampling of 8 of their cold appetizers: hummus, babaghanoush, eggplant salad, sauced eggplant. lebni (haydari), spicy ezme, tabuleh and butter pine nut hummus. We also ordered some hot appetizers: falafel, icli kofte (stuffed kibbeh), cheese rolls and the grilled octopus. Everything, and I mean everything was delicious. The cold appetizers were all well-seasoned, succulent and tasty. The octopus was incredible, tender, flavorful and yummy. The cheese rolls and falafel were equally good and everything that was meant to be served hot came to the table piping hot throughout the meal. Three of us ordered the mixed grill and it was fantastic. You get a taste of much of the kebab menu as it comes with chicken shish, beef shish, adana kebab, lamb shish, gyro and a lamb chop. All of the meats were grilled to perfection and the beef and lamb were truly melt-in-the-mouth. Phenomenal. The meats are accompanied by a nice, well-dressed salad and your choice of rice or bulgur - all three of us had the bulgur and it was truly the best bulgur I have had. Red in color, soft, fluffy and perfectly flavored to complement the grilled meats. A very generous plate and so delicious. The spinach pide (ispanakil pide) was also well-executed. Thin crust with a flavorful filling of spinach and mozzarella cheese - and again, piping hot fresh from the oven. It is huge. By the time we went through all of this food, we did not have room for dessert, but I had the Turkish tea (highly recommended) and we were given some baklava on the house. A perfect ending to a perfect meal. We would definitely go back and the only downside is that they are not in our grubhub/door dash delivery range because we would be ordering from them often. read more

Terrific Sunday supper at OBA Mediterranean Grill: great service and ambiance on the covered front porch--ceiling fans helped keep air circulating before the sun began to set--and delicious Turkish cuisine! We whet our appetite with the hot, puffed, sesame-seeded pita/flatbread served with olive oil (great olives!) and then moved on to the Rustic Hummus (chickpeas mashed into tahini, lemon juice, cumin, extra virgin olive oil), Meat Pie (2 pieces, Anatolia's version of ancient Turkish meat pie with ground lamb, parsley, tomatoes, red peppers, onion), and Mix Grill (chicken shish, adana kebab, gyro, lam shish, lamb chops). We really enjoyed our meal here although we have another favorite Turkish restaurant in the area so I couldn't give this 5 stars because our favorite gets 5 stars :) Everything tasted fresh and was super tasty. I wasn't very hungry so I just had a salad (see pic) and pretty much that entire big puffed pita (?) they give which is delicious. We also loved that they served real olive oil which did not seem cut with any other toxic seed oils. If you like rice pudding, please get the rice pudding. Came here for dinner. Sat outside on the patio. Gets busy even on weekdays. Patio was nice in summer night although our table had a lot of ants. They started us off with a huge freshly made bread. The bread is amazing. Not a huge fan of the oil dip with it but we still ate it all. We ended up getting the family platter which comes with 4 meat samplers over rice cook with half the bread over it. Was about 72$ for sampler. I visited Oba with a friend for a weeknight dinner. The restaurant is located in a house-looking structure which creates a very quaint and cozy ambiance. The menu is pretty similar to your standard Turkish restaurant fare. We started off with the Mix Appetizers. I enjoyed it overall with the Babaghanoush being my favorite. For our entree we ordered an Iskender Kebab and Sausage Pide to share. The Iskender was OK; however, it lacked a bit of flavor and needed a bit more of the crispy bread pieces beneath the meat. The Sausage Pide was solid and compared pretty well to others that I've liked elsewhere. Our server checked on us consistently throughout our meal. Overall, I'm really glad I stumbled upon Oba. I enjoyed the experience overall and think it compares well to other spots. I'd also say this is my favorite Turkish spot within South Jersey that I've tried so far. read more

This place was a huge hit. I had just gotten an emergency wisdom tooth removal after an awful wisdom tooth infection + impaction and I could only really have soft foods for the first few days. I wanted soup and had trouble finding any restaurants with a good soup on the menu. Through my help search I found OBA and saw two tasty soup options on the menu. Me and my sister ordered both soups and the cold app platter with pitta to go. Both soups were fantastic! The tomato soup is not like other tomato soups- it was unique in taste and texture and is worth trying. The lentil soup was flavorful and hearty. Loved both. The hummus lebna and other random things were just as expected! pita was warm and fluffy and great for ripping and sharing! This place was so good we had to go back- so me and my sister the very next day went back for lunch, this time in person. The service was great. They give amazing green olives as a little starter. If you have never tried an olive I suggest at least trying these olives! we got the soups again obviously, not a drop was left. And we also had the hummus, pita, and the feta cheese rolls. When we went back a week later we ordered the mixed cold app. Home run, it was excellent. For our entrees we ordered chicken shish and lamb gyro. The chicken was great. The gyro was super dry, no flavor and NOT a gyro. But instead only shredded lamb. At this point we would have come back and given it a 4. But from the time we finished our dinner, we waited 40 minutes just to get a box and the check. I like taking my time at dinner and don't like being rushed but this was excessive. read more

We went to OBA Mediterranean Grill in NJ for lunch. The service WAS AMAZING. There were two men working there. We told them that we were with our team and only had 30 mins to eat, and wanted to know if we had time to eat there. The guy at the front said yes if you get the gyros. Then they brought out olive oil with olives and delicious bread. The place was immaculately clean. We had to wait no time at all before they brought us giant gyros. The Taziki was perfectly fresh, like they added mint and lemon. The lamb was perfectly cooked and  was delicious. When we asked for the check they wanted to know if we wanted Turkish tea and we said yes. They put it into a to go container and then put all of our leftovers into a tote bag for us. It was the most incredible restaurant experience of my life. We were in and out in less than 30 minutes. The prices were also very affordable with all of this being under $30.
