Becky at the office, answered a few questions and altered our order to include a programmable thermostat with no problems. Sent updated information, and confirmed the install twice, at time of order, and again the day before. Their friendly crew were on time, paid attention to details, kept me informed as the install was happening, answered all questions. They double and triple checked the install. Checked the registers. Insured the gas stove was operating fine before wrapping things up, as the gas was shut off to run a new gas line. Removed the fuel line, shut off the fuel from the old tank and capped it as well. Ran through the thermostat settings. Cleaned up everything and used drop cloths. Place heats quickly, fan is much quieter and can actually be set to lower speeds if desired. The programmable thermostat helps reduce heating costs. So far, I am quite pleased and toasty warm. If I don't update this review, the furnace if working fine. ;)

We called Yellow Submarine and figured that we might as well ask them to install the toilet as well, since they were going to be here for the flange. After twenty minutes on tablet, the plumber provided us with a quote. The first number I saw was over $400 to simply install a toilet. Since we were replacing 2 of them, we were looking at over $850. Quote from Rona for both: $ 360. I told the plumber that I would get the toilet installed by someone else, and to simply quote me for the flange and shut off valve. Quote for the flange : OVER $600 !!! Quote for 2 shutoff valves : OVER $600 as well !!! More than $1,600 for replace a flange, 2 shut off valves and two toilet installs. UN-believable. I called Norm's plumbing, and it took them 45 minutes to replace the valves and the flange and they charged $ 240 !!! They would have had enough time left over to install the toilet within their one hour minimum, but I was too speechless to ask them to finish, and called Mr. Rona to finish the installs now that we had a new flange and tow new shutoff valves. I do not understand how Yellow Submarine can pray on people who simply do not know what a reasonable price should be. Shame on you, Yellow Submarine.

He made recommendations as to what to do to avert an upcoming issue that we had noticed before contacting him. The controller is becoming unreliable, it's well over 20 years old. No pressure to install right away, said when it ultimately "goes" he has replacement ready to put in. Going to have him service the furnace yearly now. It just makes sense to. Prompt, friendly, honest, patient, knowledgeable, and reasonably priced. What is not to like? Already set a reminder for early next fall to call him for annual service appointment. We did some research and got 3 quotes from local companies that all have very good reputations. We decided to go with Servicexcel even though their quote was about $800 more than the others. The main reason we went with Servicexel is that they quoted on higher quality equipment and their system designer took the time to explain why, in plain simple language. Plus the equipment they quoted on have a better and longer warranty. After they provided the quote, they were very quick to answer all our questions. The ladies that answer the phones were very knowledgeable and prompt to help however they could. They also took the extra step to arrange for the rebates that we qualified for. Once they started to do the install, the technicians both were very knowledgeable and able to explain what they were doing and were very efficient. It was not the easiest install (due to the cramped and awkward furnace room and crawlspace), but these two technicians took it all and made it look much easier than I thought it would be. During the install they were very good at keeping the area clean and went through the whole area afterwards to vacuum up and make sure everything was back to normal. I would highly recommend Servicexcel and their dedicated employees to anyone that needs any type of HVAC service or replacement.

We contracted this company in Nov. 2025 to install a radon mitigation system in our crawlspace as…read morerequired by the BC Building Code. They came out and installed it, we called for an inspection and failed because their "professional technician" had installed the system upside down!! After a lengthy conversation, they agreed to come out and fix it at no additional charge, yes that had to be negotiated. In January we had another inspecter come out and their system failed a second time because the vent pipe was not labeled. After some investigation we discovered that as per the BC Building Code, it is the contracter's responsibility to ensure that all the appropriate labels are affixed to the system. So another fail on their behalf. We contacted them 2 days ago requesting they correct this so we can get our final inspection completed and we have not heard back from them. There's nothing professional about this service, in fact I would dare to say that despite their assurances, they actually knew very little about installing these systems, there simply is no other way to account for the poor quality of this installation.

When I asked him to stop waving the sharpened pointy end it at my stove he he denied it even though I was literally standing there while he did it. He pulled the" I'm a Christian too" card to make me soften when I confronted him on his dishonesty in hours on the bill. He called his boss in front of me and proceeded to tell me how much he saved us by not charging us for something he shouldn't have charged us for anyways. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!…read more FYI: The following information was gathered from two other sources that also inspected the plumbing and correctly determined the problem. My elderly mother-in-law's home had waste water starting to back up into the house so 250 Plumber was called in a panic. Brock came to the residence to investigate and apparently spent 6 hours there (according to the bill), scoped the drain but reportedly went the wrong direction (uphill, when water generally flows downhill). In addition, I believe this also involved installing a new cleanout although one already existed. The scope reportedly went uphill after meeting the tee to the main drain, rather than downhill, and ran into the termination box at the upper end of the drain pipe. I mentioned the situation to the plumber but the plumber stands by his work, despite the errors confirmed by the other plumber and property owner and refuses to negotiate the amount of the bill. Like I said: AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!

We needed parts and were told it would be a week -- a month passed and we didn't hear from them. They quoted us an eye-popping $450 for a basic annual maintenance appointment (everyone else charges about $150 for this). When I emailed this year to see if they still charge $450, they opened the email and ignored it. My follow-up email was also opened, but ignored. In short: Broken heat pump, did not fix it, wanted to gouge us, and now isn't even returning our emails. I hate writing bad reviews, especially for local companies, but you should avoid JD Plumbing at all costs.
