    Bread and dip

Came here for a birthday dinner and unfortunately left very disappointed. Bullet points: - BYOB - fees - not quiet! - food is oily and mediocre - service rushes It is BYOB, but we weren't given an ice bucket to keep our white wine cold. Not that we needed it (explained later.) There is a 3.29% service fee on the receipt. They will charge it for debit cards, too, which I was under the impression that's illegal. There is nothing in there to absorb all the noise, so if you have sensory issues this is not the place. Both of us are constantly at concerts and this was overwhelming. We couldn't talk to each other comfortably. The bolognese ($24) looked more of a vodka sauce than tomato and had way too much oil in it. His gnocchi ($24) was a good sauce, but the gnocchi itself tasted like it came from a box. The real star was the bread and dip they brought out. Had a bunch of garlic and crushed red pepper in it. I ate more of that than my pasta. From the moment we sat down we were rushed. The server was kind, but we barely had time to look over the menu. Once the check was brought she hovered. My bf barely got his signature finished before she collected the receipt and tried to take all the glasses off the table (she did put the water back down.) It was very crowded so I'm sure they want to turn tables, but back off. We felt unwelcome, and it certainly wasn't a dinner we needed to rush through. Safe to say we won't be back.

Patricia's Downtown in Toms River absolutely deserves a 10 out of 10 across the board--food, service, and atmosphere were all outstanding. We started with the spicy shrimp appetizer, which was packed with flavor and the perfect way to kick off the meal. For our entrees, we had the chicken parm--crispy, tender, and generously portioned--and the lobster pasta, which was rich, creamy, and loaded with lobster. Every bite was incredible. The service was warm, attentive, and perfectly paced. The atmosphere is cozy yet upscale, making it a great spot for a special night out or a relaxing dinner with friends. Compliments to the chef for a truly memorable meal--we'll definitely be back!

This was a one and done place for us, they skimped on all our dishes, portions were extremely small with an expensive price tag. We waited more than 15 minutes before a waitress came to our table and waited over 30 minutes for the food. We will never go here again.

24 ounce lobster tail, homemade potato, croquette, and broccoli rabe!

I was seated almost right away, and seems many others im reviews have had issues with this and i think it stems from the restaurants layout - lot of young workers and no ones going to want to just sit in the quiet part greeting i suppose, Anyways- i had no issues, was served quick and was in and out. I went with clam spinach dip as an app which was 10/10 for me. Ordered a burger that came on a kaiser roll which also was good but nothing that wow'd, and a beef rib grilled cheese which i will say was really good and a savored every bite! They have to promote some of these best items more!!!! On my overall experience i had a good time , almost gave it 4 stars because the booths are awkwardly set up and you are an inch away from other people seating next to you inside the restaurant almost butting heads.... But the food items were worth the stars

It was a bit loud, hard to hold conversation. Live Band started playing around 8pm. Server was great! Cheerful, checked in on us! She had a vibrant personality. Don't recall her name. Friday menu special Soup or salad, entree and ice cream sundae for $26. I ordered chicken pot pie- it good. Daughter commented food was good. Parking lot available a short walk away.

And, no I am not awarding four stars for the service approach towards diners ... she did refill my coffee mug once and then surprisingly just took the creamers away without asking (I drink my coffee black but she didn't know that.). Clearly she has favorites because the guy in the booth next to me got the lovey-dovey "hon" treatment. The Sand Castle has a feeling of having been worn down by the waves through the years type of place because many of the booth chairs and counter chairs exhibit wear and even more than a few tears. On a cold November Saturday morning I could feel the chill as I sat in my booth sipping my coffee (And, I wasn't anywhere close to the front door.). So onto the four stars ... but don't say I didn't warn you about service and ambiance. Well, it feels like a shore diner and I like that feel but yea worn out a bit. Quite awhile ago stopped by for dinner and the food was really good with lots of tempting options. I always judge diners by their soup and the soup was top notch! Our meals were enjoyable at a reasonable price. And, then I just forgot to review the diner. But decided to return for breakfast today after a long Friday night. Coffee arrived promptly and was really decent coffee but the amazing part of my breakfast was how quickly the really wall prepared omelette was served. It was like in the blink of any eye and for many a promptly delivered breakfast meal is a real plus (I appreciated it!!!!). Although the waitress really didn't want to be bothered with me the rather short diner breakfast menu had the classics and that quickly prepared omelette was a tasty WESTERN. The homefries were really good ... actually they were great even without onions in them (Waitress never asked if I'd like onions and rushed away so I didn't ask but these potatoes didn't need onions.). Toast was toast and the jam/jelly selection was universally grape jelly with one orange marmalade. A very good breakfast and I wasn't here to make friends just to warm up ooops ok, so I didn't warm up but the coffee helped, and to do some work. Still worth the food if you're in the neighborhood!
