Please read my original review for the bar area. Cliff Notes, stay away from the bar, it has shady customers, is very dark, and is full of cigarette smoke. Now the pool hall part in the front is well lit. I have played pool here twice so far without incident and my friends say the food is pretty good here. Service isn't the best though. So really nothing special, but they do have a full bar, okay food and draft beer. read more

We read the reviews before going so we were prepared for whatever happened. We got there early & had to wait. Then, inside we had to wait a little longer due to staffing issues. Stay far, far away! One of the final bastions of indoor smoking, you will leave here smelling like an ash tray. They get a good band maybe once every few months, if it isn't blasting out your eardrums. Karaoke is dead and gone, anytime I go there might be two or three people going up, if that. To top it off on this dirty, dark, dingy bar, one of the employees, John Tranum, is a Tier 3 registered sex offender, for aggravated indecent assault of a minor. This would not be an issue if they didn't allow children in during the day. I would go to any other bar or music venue in town. The one upside is the food is pretty good, probably the best bacon cheese fries in town. read more

We stopped in for their open mic night. The atmosphere was what you would expect from the name but the prices were quite steep compared to what you would normally pay at a bar. I got the appetizer southwest Egg rolls thinking for $16.99 they must be homemade or a large portion or something but it was 3 frozen egg rolls out of a package cut in half. It was really disappointing. However, the staff was pretty friendly and the young man running the open mic was super nice and the sound was great. I enjoyed the entertainment and the drinks though expensive were good so all in all I would give it a 3 star average place. Had the WORST experience there EVER tonight! Was treated VERY RUDE from the karaoke entertainment, she said nasty words, so you give someone the freedom of speech "finger wise" and my friend and I said screw this and walked to the pool side just to finish our beer, and then all of a sudden we're asked to leave, WTF? I've had some fairly up and down experiences at this place over the years. However, since it had been a few years since I've been here I'm going to forget the past and just review of our experience the other night. We wanted to play pool, so we thought we'd give this place a try, despite running into rather unsightly and rough clientele years back. To our surprise it was a much better crowd than in years past. We got a table right away and had a great night. The buffalo wings are some of the best in town. Although if you like really hot, even their "stupid hot" wings are hardly spicy. Good service. We have been looking forward to this place opening after a long time of being closed. I asked the bouncer if I could have the seat next to him and he said "no, someone is sitting here." Those were the only two seats at the bar. We found a seat, the girl could not tell us what beer was an ipa so my husband just picked one. Thirty minutes later when our glasses were empty and we had our cc out we got a 2nd drink. Finally, the bouncer's "friend" brought him a doughnut. I never did get a 3rd beer because the bartender was singing kareoke. Hands down the worst look of a bar, poolhall, restaurant ever.....and I mean ever. This place was recommended from a local. So smokey from cigarettes, it was a little uncomfortable. This spot has an abundance of pool tables. Has a bar and a stage for live music. Luckily we missed the performance (thank goodness)! We ordered a pitcher of bud light was $15 totally overpriced! Jell-O shots were a $1 well worth it. Ordered some food .... Manager was very rude and disrespectful to small group of Soldiers. Group was accused of sharing alcoholic drinks to minors by other patrons and servers. manger came up to table and actually put her nose in the cup, to smell for alcohol. She then proceeded to drink out of the straw! of both cups. When told off her reasoning for doing it was because one of the cups "were done with anyways" and even after she was still suspicious of group. Even after they politely explained to her., she continued to harass and yell at them. Being extremely rude and defensive. Her story changed more than 5x and when asked any questions she never would answer. She later banned and kicked out the group. I Can't believe this happened! Was here a couple months ago to see bands. Had Loose Cannon on tap. All others were standard domestic beer. It was nice enough to not hesitate to come back a couple months later for more bands. This time we get in and they allow smoking now. Some airflow...not a lot. I used to smoke eight years ago. I'm surprised it's allowed to be honest. Just a night ruined. I know I will be fighting to breath tomorrow. Wouldn't have planned the night if we knew they switched to smoking. Never ate here so can't judge food. First trip was fun. This time not so much. Very sad. It was nice to have a place to have a beer and listen to live music. We won't be going back I don't think. A large group of us and only one smoker. The aftermath to our lungs isn't worth a few hours of smoke filled entertainment. read more

From the outside it looks like a cool, decent sized pool hall. Once inside you realize there is way more to it than appears. Lots of pool tables (duh), dart boards, TVs, private tables you can sit and eat it. And a full bar you can either sit at or tables scattered about. We sat at one of the tables in back by the bar. Nice bar, decent size. Lots of specials throughout the week/weekend. Good menu, especially for a bar!!! Prices were very reasonable! I had fries and my husband had a Philly cheese steak with fries. Fries were awesome, my husband said his cheese steak was the best he has had outside of Philly! They had a pretty good variety of beers and wines! Staff was friendly! Seems to be somewhat of a local hangout, since it seemed as though everyone know everyone else. They also seem to have nightly specials like Karaoke, trivia nigh, live music! So overall seems pretty cool! Def somewhere i could hang out. My only complaint is like some places, you can still smoke here and of course being a huge Smoke Hater! It bothered me! My girlfriend and I like to come here for girls night out. we enjoy the food, entertainment, and the atomsphere. Besides the smoke it's a great place to hang out. The alcohol and food is not priced to bad. We like the options on paying for pool time. Hopefully Sarah B keeps her sour attitude in Baltimore and away from Winchester and away from Blue Fox. read more

Subpar service, charges you for standing next to a pool table regardless of whether or not you even touched a pool stick, did not notify when last call was but rudely and aggressively made sure everyone left when they wanted to close, and on top of that charged an automatic 30% gratuity. read more

Would get 5 stars if not for the smoke, need to take a shower as soon as you get home to get rid of the smoke smell. Good food, good prices. Nice tables, best place to shoot pool for miles. How this place gets away with ignoring the va smoking ban law is quite the mystery ,but they do. Most expensive drinks in winchester. $10.50 mix drinks,$4.50 domestic bottles, and apparently if they mix your drink wrong or crappy and you take a drink of it your stuck with it. My second long island tasted like shit so asked the guy who mixed my first one to make me another and he insisted i pay for both the bad one and the new because i took literally one drink of the bad one. How was i supposed to know it tasted like a cold glass of sour mix without taking a drink? So i got a good long island for $21 talk about getting screwed. We spend alot of $ to hang out here but im done. You come out smelling like an ashtray and broke after just a few drinks. Would somebody PLEASE open another decent bar in Winchester with a couple pool tables,please. read more

My husband and I used to love coming here for some pool and great beer specials. Our last visit we were disappointed to find out they no longer do any kind of deals for the table area. The food and beer selection was nothing special and completely over priced. The only good thing was our service. Our server was attentive and had good knowledge of the menu. The new Stage is set up Great! Great sound in Front; however, as you walk or if you sit towards the back of the club the sound is muddy. The bands are great! Wed. Night Open Mike the best in the area. Service is under par. The beer on tap is always "FLAT" (Sleeping Mgmt)? No excuse for that. read more

This place sucks. The so called manager was just disrespectful for the charge we got from the beginning of the night. Apparently to get to the bar you have to pay a fee of $10 and you might get it back.( if you remember to tell them you paid, if not your 10 bucks down. Second, i played for only 2 hours on the pool tables and I had to pay 45 bucks!!!!! If i read this review i would never visit the place. Money that you made with hard work are GOING TO BE STOLEN FROM YOU IN THIS PLACE. Please take my word on it and do not ever go there. It's fun here, its like any other bar, never really to crowded. On the other hand though, the Karaoke DJ is a bi!ch. My friend and I are having a good time and just singing our hearts out, (not the best) and I notice the DJ was rolling her eyes at us and pointing fun. Horrible experience. I went in and wasn't carded until 5 minutes in. Then the girl who checked my ID had no idea of the date and thought I was underage as she was loud about it. Then she proceeded to have another worker come over in the middle of my billiards game to ask for my ID again. Then she said, "We have some young ones here!". If anyone asks "where?", we say Blue Fox. They have an awesome staff that makes you feel at home, like it's *your* bar ... this place is my "Cheers". If you're looking for uppity, hoity-toity, don't check out BF, head downtown ... you'll get that popped collar, better-than-you, can't-taste-the-alcohol-in-my-mixed-drink atmosphere down there ... HOWEVER ... if you're just looking to have a few good drinks with a some good folks, THIS is what you've been missing. A lot of bars see a huge turnover, BF's staff has been solid for awhile now - they've found their groove, and rolling with it. Your bartender serves you ASAP, no empties here, they speak to you like you're a person, not just a tip. They have lots of things going on throughout the week, karaoke, trivia, live bands - and we don't check it out often, but also POOL ... I think it's even free some nights! There are two TouchTunes jukeboxes when there isn't a DJ playing free tunes (bar side and pool side). We stop in often for trivia (cash prizes too!), dinner & drinks. Food is also great, not just your regular bar expectations - pulled pork nachos are AWESOME when available (in season), hubby usually orders the steak & cheese and me, the "Alibi" - a big juicy hamburger with all the fixin's. The chicken tenders are also awesome ... it's hard to choose. I'm not sure why people give this place such a hard time, unless they just haven't given it a chance recently ... or that it's so much easier to complain about something than it is to make the effort when all was good ... however ... I implore you, if you haven't yet, give it a try! Right off I-81 ... we've met some awesome people that were only passing through. Kinda glad, I guess, that everyone downtown hasn't figured out how friendly a bar can truly be - we can keep it our hidden gem. :) read more

This is not a good live music venue. The stage area is long, narrow, and cramped. The stage bar is always overwhelmed and you have to stand in line for drinks. The PA speakers at the front of the stage are right at ear level and the sound engineer always turns them up much louder than they should be, to the point where the speakers are distorting and the sound quality is poor. It hurts my ears. Bring ear plugs if you want to stand in the front row. Also, the price to see some of the national caliber bands is highway robbery. I wanted to see Rusted Root play here but I couldn't bring myself to pay $40 for a ticket when the night before, Rusted Root played at The Fillmore Silver Spring and tickets at that outstanding venue cost $25. Purchased 4 tickets to see a band there 4/6/2014. Tickets were $35 a piece so $140. When we arrived we saw a line standing outside and as we approached we quickly found out that we would not be getting in. I spoke with a representative for the business and was told that they were at capacity and would not let anyone else in. I could not get them to give my money back either, they gave me a 'credit' to use anytime. I don't plan on returning to use my 'credit' because I am sure that they will not allow it. What I found out is that they over sold the show, sold more tickets than the building was able to accommodate legally. Very bad management/owner! read more

Good music and smoking indoors is nice sometimes. Better ventilation would help the smoke and cheaper prices on drinks would make me come back as well as cheaper cover for bands. More people would come at a lower price. read more

I have to say I am disgusted with this place. My husband and I came here on a Saturday night to play a couple games of pool and eat dinner. When we arrived we were bombarded at the door by the arrogant bouncer demanding us to pay the cover charge of 20$, we paid the charge and put on our bracelets indicating we were both over the age of 21. A few minutes later we realized the cover charge was only for people going over the bar section to watch the band, which we were not doing. We were only staying on the billiards section of the restaurant. The bouncer said to us "You guys aren't going over the bar" we replied "No" but he never offered to give us the cover charge back. The money wasn't a big deal, it was the principle of the matter. About an hour later we decided to leave because of service and the inital damper on the night. Before we payed my husband politely asked if we could have our cover charge back, the bouncer then said " I already offered it to you!" YES he lied. My husband and I decided it was not the time or place to argue so we payed our bill and left. Needless to say karma will catch up to this detriment to society. read more
