As grandparents we took grandaughter and a friend to the film. online tickets with convenience fee and food and drinks bumped up against $150. i am not interested in paying restaurant prices for food and sodas that were not particularly tasty. and who is the convenience fee supposed to benefit? certainly not the consumer. Place was nice and staff friendly, but they don't list their menu prices. I got a vegan mushroom burger (comes with fries) and a sprite - they charged me $33.50!! That's highway robbery. One - you need to list your prices on your menu. Two - I don't pay that much at a sit down full service restaurant. Sheesh! Very unpleasant experience that I will not allow myself or my family to go through again. There was absolutely no direction for the online ordering platform, the menu was incomplete, and I had to go back to the lobby to ask for help in order to use an alternate payment method (gift card). It took 30 minutes for a sprite to be delivered, and almost an hour and a half for a milkshake and wings (which weren't even the correct flavor!) - and that was after five digital inquiries via the online platform. The only reason the food ever arrived is due to a friend flagging down an employee nearby delivering someone else's food, no one ever actually came to help. And lastly, forcing an automatic gratuity for an abhorrent experience was the cherry on top of awful. read more

This used to be a great place to go. But ever since they implemented the "new" order system and got rid of all of their wait staff it's awful. It takes over an hour for food or drink to arrive, if it comes at all. My family had to inquire about our food and drink five times (55 minutes after ordering) and no one had any idea what was ordered or where anything was. Best part? The text notifications during the climax of the movie saying an 18% auto gratuity would be applied if I did not "close" my check right away. There staff is the absolute worst. I literally ordered a shake mid movie and it never came, there were like 10 people total in the theatre. Our food came before our drinks. The online system is made worse by the staff. They literally looked at me like I was being a Karen because I didn't want to pay for a shake I never got. The young African american girl with glasses mocked my voice when I said that the online system has a hidden refill button to make people double order drinks that include refills. Last night, my $250 sunglasses were stolen by someone on the staff or management. I forgot them on the table, when I was driving home I called them up, they didn't answer any calls, this morning I called them up. And the manager Ryan answered and said he seen the glasses that match the description, and said wait on the line while he goes and checks. He then hung up the phone and didn't answer the phone again, after we called 20 more times with no response. We decided to drive out 2 hours to the theater, and they said they didn't have them. Only a bunch of cheap $5 sun glasses that weren't mine. They said sorry that's all they had. After we pushed further they came back with an expensive pair of sunglasses in the back that also weren't mine. Makes you wonder why they were separated from the cheap ones ? ( Simple answer is, this isn't there first time stealing) After I requested to see to cameras, and talk to the manager Ryan, someone on the staff said wait. We waited while he talked to his manager Ryan, Ryan said he was busy working in his office. They said there was nothing they could do. Disappointed that someone would steal from a customer. I have to put maybe in the recommended this business for the following reasons: The price of the ticket was not bad and the selection of beers. I was impressed on the announcement that if you are going to be talking or using your phone, you will have one warning then escorted out. Now the bad things: the floor was so sticky that you can hear your shoes tear from the floor. To get to your seat, you have to walk sideways and thr chairs were not that convertible. The food was GREAT and the service was really nice and fast. Just be aware that this is NOT like some of the other Alamo Drafthouses that have reclining seats and individual tables. It is an older theater so it is just regular seats and a high table/shelf in front of your seat. read more

The movie was great and the experience was great. The food is outrageously overpriced though. Two sodas came out to 11.50 on their own. I paid 15 dollars for a ten inch pizza that wasn't even 6 regular slices of pizza. I got a ten dollar milkshake which is expected but it was also incorrect. The workers who brought us our food were mumbling and we couldn't understand a word they said.I paid 80 dollars in total for the tip, tickets, and food. Definitely don't hate the place, but the prices for food are just outrageous. Stop and get something cheap before going. read more

They used to have some decent wraps. Not on menu anymore. I asked, but was told that it's spicy. I then opted for their chicken burger. That too was spicy. Can no one make any thing that isn't spicy anymore? I ended up just eating the fries. I would have even been happy if the wrap was like the old McDonald's grilled chicken snack wraps. I wish they would offer the choices of the wraps that they had pre-Covid times. I would think they would be less messier than pizzas. The pretzel we had as an appetizer was pretty good. The superiority complex here amongst the management team is astounding. I've never seen anything quite like it. They have zero issue with belittling their staff, even with paying customers right in front of them. Now, after observing the way the place is managed, the overpriced....well, everything, doesn't seem so bad.....almost. The place is clean-ish. There's a permanent stickiness to everything and a scent that violates your nostrils upon entry. Food is subpar. Definitely not worth the price tag. Cheap and greasy are the best adjectives to use for the quality. Do yourself a favor: Get some takeout from your favorite place once the movie is on a streaming service, (it usually doesn't take that long) and enjoy an evening in. This was a knock me to the floor 5 stars, best place ever when it first opened. The decline was disappointing when it began, but now is shocking. First, the food. A location that was good enough to order take-out/take home. Now after a couple of bites we don't even want to see it. Items that were great that are still on the menu are barely edible. Clearly cooked long ago, you can beat nails into a wall with the grilled cheese. Popcorn - if you don't cover up its age with butter or toppings you'll taste that it isn't fresh. Second, the service. Ordered (and had to pay for) popcorn 20 minutes before the movie. 30 minutes in, still no popcorn. What was delivered was a half-bowl, and it looked like a pickup from someone else's leftovers. Refills on a drink? Forget it. Not happening. Buy a ticket at the alamo? Self-service. Doesn't accept/remember your victory account info (which has lots of points, but I can't redeem them anymore either). Seats? Theater 5 has seats that were broken pre-covid. Still broken. Ticket prices? Through the roof. The Alamo company on the other hand makes pretty amazing pre-film entertainment or if the main feature is one in a series, they provide a montage that helps bring newbies up to speed. This local Alamo also hosts a film club with some flicks I would never find elsewhere. Remember the (old) Alamo! My Christmas wish is to bring it back. read more

Having been a former member of the Frederick county Virginia area, I have frequented this Alamo movie and Drafthouse quite a few hundred times while living there. Going to the movies there is a wonderful experience especially when you can couple it with a large menu of items to choose from while you're watching your movie, and that includes alcoholic drinks both inside the movie theater and there is an existing long bar that sits outside the theater. They have a huge amount of theaters to choose from with the newest movies. Highly recommend Alamo read more

The movies, seats, and atmosphere make Alamo a favorite for date night. It might be considered a little pricey, but you get good food and service. I just wish they could find a solution to eating in darkness! I've "lost" too many chicken wings. They either got push off my plate (can't tell cuz it wouldn't make a sound). $11 for a midweek evening recent release movie is not terrible. Either that, or I'm just getting used to spending that much money for two hours of escapism. I bought my tickets online, which meant that I got to choose my seat in the theater. I like this option because I arrived late and my seat was still available. The picture and sound quality were very good. The seat was comfortable with cup holders on both sides. If I hadn't been running late, I'd have gotten a beer. Yep, there's beer at the movie theater. Nice options for food at the start of the movie, but I opted to skip this. However, the waitstaff did a mostly good job of staying out of the way and not disturbing the movie-going experience while they got food delivered, drinks refilled and checks dropped off. read more

My wife and I had a great experience at the Alamo Drafthouse in Winchester. The ticket clerk was very helpful and friendly when we bought our tickets. The lobby and restrooms were very clean and neat. The theatre we were in was very clean. We were there for the first movie showing of the day. We were both surprised by how warm and good the pretzel tasted. The two dips that came with our pretzel were also warm and delicious with a little heat from a few jalapeño peppers. The popcorn was also warm and delicious with their popcorn salt and they provided us with a small paper cup of extra popcorn salt. As for the movie, we enjoyed our movie which always helps us enjoy what is around us. Our food service was quickly provided when we arrived and so were the refills. Our diet drinks were in nice sized plastic glasses with the correct amount of ice in the glass, and our sodas also tasted great. We could find nothing to complain about at the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema in Winchester, and we were surprised by their cleanliness and great tasting food and drink. We look forward to our next return and we plan to deversify our food order. read more

Great place. It get a little expensive once you pay the extra for tickets online then food and drinks. I like the whole concept though and hope they add more items to the menu. Also last time we were there no one checked on is or refilled our drinks. (There was only about 6 people in the theater) My son loves their shakes although they are pricey. A lovely new movie theater over in Winchester, Alamo Drafthouse does movies right. Step inside and you'll see a large bar and hi-boys in the lobby, plenty of great beers on tap. Inside the theater, seats are spacious with a small table/ledge running in front of them. Order up whatever your heart desires and get full-on wait service. There's lots of space between rows for the waitstaff to reach you which means extra legroom for movie patrons. The movie-watching experience is great all-around! We took it easy today food-wise with a bowl of popcorn and chili-cheese fries but the fries were awesome! Crunchy with just the right amount of spicy chili, dee-licious... Sort of challenging trying to eat them in the dark, I made a mess of things! And a Shiner Bock completed the movie snacks. Order up more food by filling out a slip of paper and propping it up on the rail, last call is 45 minutes before movie's end. Too bad that Tron Legacy: 3D sorta sucked but that's not Alamo Drafthouse's fault. And they take the movie-watching experience seriously here with an on-screen warning to not talk or you may be kicked out (if someone else complains)... Yeah, a bit severe but there are some peeps that need this warning! Overall I like what they're doing here and wish we had one in NC. One of our favorites is the fresh baked chocolate chip cookies paired with a vanilla shake (trust me you will be pleased). The theater offers a full service bar for your libation cravings.
