We did the math... It was 21 years ago when we first had ribs here when on a work trip to Winchester, VA... and when in town, we ate here quite a few times. And even went out of our way when driving from DC to Pittsburgh to stop and eat here on the way home. So when I found out I'd be in Leesburg which was about an hour away, I already decided I was going. And the guy I was with 21 years ago on that trip agreed to drive 90 minutes from where he was to meet me here. Was it worth it? Hellllllllll yessssss!!! These are the best ribs I've ever had in my life. No doubt in my mind. I'd go back again in a heartbeat if I was within decent driving distance. Other stuff is good too... the Mac n Cheese was amazing and the onion rings were pretty good too. Same with the mozzarella sticks. They were hand cut and various sizes which made us fight over them. Fun for them, I'm sure. Bottom line, go here for ribs! I got the standard sauce but they also have a spicy version. Great place and great ribs. read more

Edible, but not half as good as it used to be. I loved this place when I was a kid, my family did too. Decided to give it a try again and unfortunately the food did not meet expectations. The burger was the driest I have EVER had (and I use 95% lean when I make burgers) it was practically chalk. Everything else was... okay. Not great but edible. We went here on a Monday for lunch. They had one server working the eating area and another helping make drinks. I ordered a prime rib burger. It was delicious when they brought it out they didn't bring the au jus that was supposed to come with it. Not a big deal to me because I don't usually dip. My wife ordered the avocado burger and it came out without the bacon supposed to be on it. I had to ask for a side of ranch twice but I chalk that up to the single server being busy. The restaurant was clean and decorated nicely for a tavern. The food was delicious. I would eat here again knowing that at busy time I may need to repeat a request but the staff will make it right with a good attitude. read more

Had a pretty good experience here at Cork Street Tavern. They have a smoking side and a non smoking side. I visited the non smoking side and sat at the bar. They have draft craft beer, wine, spirits and food. I didn't order food on this occasion, but I did see an order of the wings and they looked pretty good. The service here was great, but honestly there were only a few patrons so that was expected. Nothing really special here, but I would return. The service was slow. If you are put out on the patio you hardly ever see the servers. Never got one of our appetizers and was told by waitress that it would be 7 more minutes and we were getting ready to leave. We asked two times before we were getting ready to leave about the appetizer. Also never got asked if we wanted refills on our drinks. Ask for boxes to go and have to keep asking. They want a tip, but how can you tip when you have poor service. Watched people that seem to be regulars at this place and they are getting everything in order and in a timely manner. read more

We entered on the right by accident, which is the "smoking section" (they still have those? We are from New England.) It looked like a dive. I was a bit nervous but we entered on the left side and though it looked very outdated, the food was good. Good selections, too. I would come here again. read more

We stopped on our way home from a vacation and it was DELICIOUS! For our family of four we ordered 2 chucks sandwiches a burger and wings, and devour it's it all. It came super quick and they were so friendly. It's a super historic area as well as the building, so it was fun to see all of the fun posters. read more

The staff were friendly and the service was pretty decent considering our dinner size group of people. The chicken was cooked perfectly in all honesty. The place was a little small, but very quaint and homey feel to it. Because of our group size, we did have to sit outside, which the outside back patio was pretty nice! I enjoyed the seclusion of our group being the only ones outside! Would def recommend checking out! Prices were pretty decent too! Moscow mule was about $10 and the salad I had was about $12! Not too bad with having grilled chicken! You could also get the chicken fried as well if you wanted too. read more

Winchester is a normal stopping point for my business travel. Had not been here before because it's not located with the other restaurants. Had a spinach wrap that was fantastic, decent beer list. Wish I could remember the young man and young lady that serviced my area, wonderful experience. Compliments to their manager on those hires. First class! read more

Biggest damn catfish plate I ever ate! It was seasoned and fried perfectly! The French fries were fresh and the coleslaw was perfectly made. Is my first real meal in Virginia since I been here and I was satisfied to the top. Had two beers which were cold and refreshing, it topped off my night! read more

This place once served the best Rueben sandwiches. Not any more. Stopped in today and was shocked. No patrons, stale smoke and a pool table right in the dining area. The sandwich had very little corned beef, terrible sauerkraut and the bread was burnt, The server was surly and plainly did not like men. Boy what a difference 6 months make! We visited here in October 2017 and LOVED the visit. We came back in May and was completely disappointed! Brandi, our server, was oblivious of us. We sat out on the patio and ordered beer, wait on a Friday of the Apple Blossom Festival they had NO IPA!! She said the tap was broken, but when we walked through we SAW the bartender pouring an IPA, we even asked if the taps were broken and he said no they were fine. We wanted to order lunch but she NEVER came back to our table she hit the other 3 tables but NEVER once came to us. We had to WAVE her down just to get out ticket! NOT a good way to earn a living. I'm a bartender and I tip VERY well. But not here! I even took and posted a picture of how close she came to OUR table after our original beer! IF YOU LIKE SALTY FOOD this is your place. I ordered salmon & could choose 2 sides. The waitress told me that tonight's vegetable was brussels sprouts with oil, garlic AND bacon. I jumped at that. However, the dish was so salty I could not eat it. I think they even salted the bacon. I couldn't taste bacon, just salt. The salmon was also heavy on salt. No seasoning or spices, just salt. Huge portions, service was excellent. It was cozy on a winter night with the fireplace going. Even the customers were chatting with each other. It had a very homey feel to it. We ordered the catfish dinner. The fish was cooked well, not dried out. I got a burger. It was huge!! But cooked perfectly as well so i managed to eat almost all of it. Man, I love this place. It's a local spot. It's colorful. Sometimes it's gritty. But... The food is kind of amazing, the regulars are all pretty friendly, and the service is good. You can go and read a book if you're not inclined to speak to someone, but if you want to socialize, you absolutely can. If you're not a jerk, you'll be welcomed into inner circles almost immediately. Seriously, people here are that friendly. To boot, if you're a smoker (I'm not) they have a smoking side of the restaurant with a separate entrance... and to be honest, I usually sit in this area just because it's got more friendly folks IMHO. I give this restaurant a 3 star, because when we dined in, the food was delicious. I ordered the shrimp alfredo and my husband tge chicken marsala. We also ordered stuffed (crab) mushrooms and potato skins. I was very jealous of my husbands marsala. The food was very good. Our waitress was also the bartender and she did a great job with service. We were very happy and couldn't wait to eat there again. About a month later, we ordered to go. This time i got the chicken marsala and husband got French dip. My marsala sauce was completely different from what he had last time, as it tastes different and looked like a split chicken breast covered in gravy, NOTHING like before. I couldn't even tell where the chicken was. I also askes for well done broccoli, which was not even close. I ended up just throwing my meal away,l as it was not good. My husband did enjoy his French dip. So, that makes me wonder WHICH MARSALA would i get if I ordered again? I don't know, i was so disappointed, I don't know if i'd even go back, seriously. Mixed reviews from other sites - my input? I always visit the tavern whenever in the area. Great ribs (half rack) and bier, Tavern Red (Dominion, on tap along with Yueng Ling). Ribs are not the typical wet BBQ, but rather a vinegary sauce. Bier is always cold and plentiful. Food is typical American - affordable. Same with the bier. The tavern is reputed to be "haunted" by Civil War Soldiers that used the building as a hospital. There are two sides of the place - I prefer the right side (older). It has a room in the back for groups. Bar is readily accessible, and service seems to be better. The left side of the establishment has a terrace in the back which is nice during the warm season. Dark wood paneling and wood burning fireplaces (during the cold season) gives the place a "rustic" and authentic look and feel. Your opinion may differ, but for me, I always have a good experience. read more
