I called a week after dropping it off and the part hadn't even come in yet which would of been understandable if they would of called and told us. The owner was unbelievably rude and after arguing with me for 10 minutes finally told me just a couple more days. Well that was 12 days ago so I called again today and the guy had no idea who I was or where my computer was. 5 minutes on hold and he tells me he doesn't know if its fixed yet and he has to call me back. I am so beyond infuriated with this place. I would save your money and time and go somewhere else. Update: Well I never got a call back so I called them again and the owner said he was busy and hung up on me. He then called me back saying our computer still didn't work and they need to keep it for another month. I said no thanks and went and picked it up and noticed the hack job they did on it. I took my PC in because it periodically doesn't send a signal to the monitor. I asked them to diagnose the problem and give me a call with an estimate on the repair. The guy says to give him a couple of days. Five days later I walk in and ask about my PC and he says it's fixed, it had a virus, that will be $150.00... I told him I was expecting a call with an estimate, what if I don't have $150.00? He said he'd make a note to call me in the future and he knocked off $50.00. I thought, well, that's a quick and generous gesture and I had a working computer again. I paid him and said, thanks, now the computer is working fine? He said "yes". I said, "so you fixed the problem?" He said, "well I'm not saying that." I thought he was kidding. The computer worked for less than twelve hours after leaving the store. Just horrible service, amazed that they aren't boarded up like most of the little shops in Des Moines. Another repair shop shop replaced the video card. It works fine now. But I'm still out $100.00!

Their assessment fee is not stated on their website nor given verbally.

Buy a new device, or upgrade by salvaging what still works. Since our home network is more ethernet based than wifi, and we still use our CD drive, SD card readers, and connect devices and peripherals through cables, we elected the upgrade, knowing it could be complicated. Everything turned out wonderfully, and I'm learning how to navigate and use the new features. The upgrade process had a hiccup, but Dr PC Fix came to the rescue by immediately and courteously resolving things, while displaying their superior customer satisfaction policy. Their communication and patient explanations were greatly appreciated. I'm still learning about new features and will use their remote service if I encounter any roadblocks. He doesn't run a walk-in shop like some other PC repair places. Therefore you have to call and make an appointment, or text him to communicate. He does take credit card payments online. He's fairly knowledgeable about PCs and repairing, so you can count on his expertise. If you need to replace any of the parts, keep in mind that there are additional costs to order and install the parts (as expected), so you need to consider the value of repairing the machine as opposed to buying something new. Since my machine ended up being old, the cost of repair wasn't worth it. It was however, a benefit for the peace of mind that nothing else could be worked on so I didn't have to waste any further time. Overall, I do recommend Richard for his services.

Thankfully, I work off of external drives, so I didn't need to recover any data- I just wanted to start over from scratch!
