Very aloof, not welcoming. Waiter was barely audible. Asked for a drink menu, seemed to be a herculean effort to bring one. It arrived so sticky, that one could barely separate the pages, as if it never had been wiped clean. Lychee martini was very good. Gyoza tasty. Sorry to say, Blue Fuji Bedford seems to be in decline. We had dinner at noon on Sunday. The diningroom was FREEZING with scattered space heaters that barely took down the chill. The waiter was wearing a winter jacket and we did not take off our coats. The waiter seemed very unskilled and brought us ice tea when we requested a pot of HOT tea. The food that arrived was excellent - crab rangoon, fresh sushi, sweet and sour chicken and an Udon noodle dish, but the soup and salad we ordered never arrived! With Chang An now closed I need a new Chinese restaurant. Unfortunately, Blue Fuji won't be it. We went in for Chinese food but they also serve sushi and there was a strong odor of fish when we walked in. We ordered mai tais which were pretty bad, bad enough that I didn't get a second drink. To eat we went with basics general gao chicken, beef teriyaki, and egg rolls. The egg rolls were the best of the order. Very large and nicely stuffed with a thin crisp shell. I would get them again. The beef teriyaki on the other hand was chewy with burnt parts. I prefer it served with spicy mustard but this came with no sauce. The orange chicken was average. The chicken was white meat and tender and the sauce had a nice spice. It came with limp broccoli. The service was fine but purely functional. There dining room was dead on a Friday night. Most of the time we were the only table, I think it maxed out at three. Definitely not a vibe. Bottom line: avoid the mai tai and the beef teriyaki. Other food is decent but if you are going to get it, get it to go. We will continue to search for a new regular Chinese restaurant. read more

Several friends took me out for my birthday. I used to go to Blue Fuji, and it was the best Chinese restaurant in Bedford. Then something happened and the owners split. The other spot got to keep the blue Fuji name and this restaurant reopened under the name of GUI. But the window signage still says Blue Fuji. The restaurant which used to be busy is never busy now. I recently ordered with Uber Eats and was disappointed. My friend who organized this hadn't been in a long time. Oddly the music playing was country western. There was only one other couple in the restaurant eating ( this is New Year's Eve ) they were busy with takeout. The temperature was cold. . They brought a small portable floor heater to our large circular table that didn't really help, and no explanation from the waitress as to why the restaurant was so cold. One ordered hot and sour soup which he said was good, Two of us ordered chicken noodle soup which was served tepid. We asked for it to be reheated. When returned both were hot, and it had a good amount of chicken. The noodles were not home made, they tasted like barilla or some other store bought spaghetti. And there was a grainy condensate in the bottom of the bowl like a powered chicken stock mix. I asked for pea pod beef and the waitress acted like she had never heard of this ingredient. After a brief discussion she said they didn't have this on the menu. One of our party ordered shrimp with mixed vegetables and since he recently had been hospitalized asked which vegetables it came with. He asked for no broccoli which was one of the two vegetables the waitress could recall. When the dish arrived it did not have broccoli as requested. So that was great; what it did have was, amongst other things was pea pods. We found this pretty ironic. The egg foo young one beef and one shrimp were both rated as good. One criticism was the " healthy " gravy. It used to be served with brown gravy made with flour. The new and improved healthier gravy is thinner and made with corn starch. We all agreed we preferred the old fashioned gravy which we asked for and was told it's not available. Overall it was disappointing and I don't think any of us will be returning. The service was also disappointing, a couple of our party thought it was a question of English comprehension, I felt the waitress spoke unaccented English and that didn't explain the pea pod issue. read more

I got food fire Uber eats. Not my first choice to get takeout, but I had a big credit so I used it. Blue Fuji sashimi dinner that included 15 pieces was really really good. It was laid out really nicely, for a take-out dish. An added bonus? I got a salad and some rice as well, and even a miso soup, but I guess came with it and didn't say anything about it in their menu that I have looked at. Miso soup is flavorful, white miso. Nice chunks of tofu with some seaweed as well. The rice was good. I think it was sushi rice. My salad was quite ample to for a takeout salad as a side salad. Their menu boasts a really solid line-up of sushi, hot Japanese food, and Chinese food. As a sushi fan who almost exclusively eats cooked sushi instead of raw, and prefers tempura over unfried, they boast an impressive line-up of options. Portions are generous. The service is great. The atmosphere is really nice, and sort of nocturnal. The Bedford location I remember has a really cool lit up fish tank. read more

Place is much larger inside than it appeared. The food was very good, both sushi & their Chinese options. Special priced eat-in options. Staff was understaffed & and lacking, but perhaps understandable since the night we went, there was a blackout in half of Bedford & probably much busier than they expected to be. We often get the General Tso's chicken, the Orange Chicken, Kung Pao Chicken, fried rice, etc. Their food is excellent (I particularly like the Orange Chicken) and the fact that the have such a good selection of gluten free items is amazing. When they reopened after being closed for a while last year, the food was just OK and their website wasn't very functional. Now both are very much improved. May not be exactly the traditional preparation for the Szechuan items, but not American either - sort of in the middle - but very good. Everyone there provides excellent customer service as well. So the food is ok but the last time I ordered the salmon tempura bento box. Waitress took my order and then she came with a soup and salad. Then she cane with a plate of salmon with some broccoli on it. I asked what happened to the bento box (gyoza, California role, etc) and she just said they didn't have the bento box (even though it was on the menu). If you place a delivery directly from their website or third party app and don't include a tip they will call you and ASK for a tip. Extremely unprofessional. The woman that called to inquire about my order initially tried to pressure me into paying cash for tip even though I CLEARLY did not include one when I placed the order. She even went as far as suggesting that I come pick up the food myself since there was not a tip included. I reminded her that a tip is OPTIONAL and that they should include a tip in the delivery fee if they want to pay their drivers. This is after I spent $56+ dollars for my order. Beware! I've been ordering take home and delivery from them for a while. The food is ok, not Boston "Chinatown" good, but outside of Boston, it's a 5 out of 10, as are most restaurants of this kind. The lack of consideration for food equality shows. I ordered a Pan Thai Lunch Plate with fried tofu. I was severely disappointed. I know what Pan Thai is supposed to look like. I make it at home too. The image attached is their version. Who in their right mind cuts the noodles to 1/2 an inch slices? The noodles are meant to be long and able to be picked up by chopsticks. Not a spoon or fork. The flavor was lacking. The texture gummy, and I was outright disappointed. I felt like this would be chopped up for by 4-year-old son, but he knows how to use chopsticks and how to slurp noodles. This the second time they have given me substandard service. Tonight I ordered Stir Fry Quinta with Beef, I put in the comments Medium Spicy. I also ordered Eye Drop Soup and Egg Roll. Given my order I asked for knife, fork and spoon, nothing extra. I even stated "I'm in a hotel, please bring knife, fork, and spoon". The order was nearly 20 minutes late, okay that can happen but no utensils and not only not med spice, not it was changed to less spice on the receipt. I called and mentioned the lack of utensils and got "oh sorry". I also mentioned the spice, and was told "that's what we do.. " So, did what any retired Spec Ops soldier would do.. I washed my shoe horn and ate my food. But I will never in life shop with these folks again and I encourage everyone else to do the same. Twice is enough.. Too bad the food is good. read more

I'm giving three stars instead of one star because they deserve the chance to make just one simple change for improvement: If you want to increase your business, at the very least, please, DON'T use stale or old seaweed to wrap the sushi. The seaweed was nearly impossible to chew and we ended up gagging and choking on the sushi because the seaweed is the only thing left in your mouth when you swallow everything else. The reason for the 3 stars is because there were no lunch specials offered because it was a holiday, which is crazy to me. The food was good, better than I've had in the area. The sushi was fresh and we delicious. The crab Rangoon was also delish. Few notes to consider for customers and for the owner. - rice or noodles are not offered with a main course and I would suggest they offer that to customers. - lunch specials should be served regardless of the day. Seems like a rip off - pad Thai was good but would suggest they put the peanuts in a separate container for those who do not eat peanuts or forget to ask for it off. -fried rice was good but needed a bit more flavor and some of the grains were hard which made me think they mixed old and new rice together I would definitely be ordering from here again just wished they did the above. read more

My company often orders delivery from Blue Fuji for lunch, so I've been able to sample a variety of items from their menu. One thing that has always been consistent is the poor quality of food they serve. I'm left feeling unwell and a little sick to my stomach after my meals. For my first order, I got the Naruto Makimono ($9.95), a 6 piece cucumber naruto roll with flying fish roes & avocado rolled with thin slice cucumber and a Chicken Wonton Soup ($3.50). My roll only came with 5 pieces, not 6 as advertised on their website. I ordered it because it was something different and I wanted to give it a try, but it really wasn't anything special and didn't have much flavor. The only thing I enjoyed was the crunch the cucumber slices provided. My chicken wonton soup was also very disappointing. How do you mess up wonton soup? By severely overcooking the wontons! The wonton wrapper was just a pile of sludge sitting at the bottom of my takeout container. I basically just had little balls of meat floating around in my soup with no wrapper. The soup tasted very bland and I really didn't enjoy it. I didn't finish this lunch. I was very disappointed to hear we would be ordering from this place again. For my second order, I decided to give their rolls and soups another chance. This time something simpler that couldn't possibly be messed up, an Organic Cucumber Maki ($4.95) and Hot & Sour Soup ($3.50). My maki came in an odd transparent pink paper rather than traditional nori (seaweed). This was not advertised on their website and not something that I wanted. Not only was it not pleasing to look it, it was rather tasteless. My hot and sour soup was okay though, but a little too spicy for my liking. I also didn't finish this lunch. While the packaging of our takeout was nice, the food was definitely not. I would not recommend this restaurant. If my coworkers decide to order from here again, I will most definitely be opting out. read more

I almost always get the Teriyaki Salmon from Blue Fuji. I have tried this dish from at least 4 other restaurants in the area and Blue Fuji is my favorite. It comes with miso soup and salad. (I also ordered a small white rice.) There is enough food for 2 meals. The salad is always fresh and has better ingredients than the other restaurants, and I love the creamy Japanese dressing. The teriyaki comes with 2 pieces of salmon and there are tons of veggies: broccoli, red and green peppers, onions, snow peas, water chestnuts, etc. Last night, the sauce tasted a little different; I think I tasted ginger...? Not sure if it was an intentional change. I still liked it and doesn't change my opinion of the dish... just different than usual. By the way, I get sushi on occasion and it's also very good! Well we have eaten at many chinese places and this is almost the worst. First off and this takes the cake they charge you for tea. Yep 1.25 per cup a teabag and hot water Strike 1, the teriyaki beef was under cooked, rare to be exact. Strike 2, the chowmein was nothing more than steamed vegetables with a hint of some flavor. Strike 3 and this goes along with tea no fortune cookie at the end. The service was fair and im being generous. Never refilled water, had to ask twice for hot mustard and had to ask for dinner plates. I was so gratified to see the deep, dark red of the maguro served here. The taste was excellent! Purists might feel the fish to rice ratio in the sushi is higher than typical, but the hungry-man in me is not complaining. Quite the contrary, I liked having the bigger pieces of fish on my sushi! Great sushi for the price. This is not a cheap or super expensive sushi place. But the quality is quite good. I ordered crab rangoons (which I can eat all day everyday) and a california roll. Let me start with the crab rangoons that tasted really good. The size of these are crazy ! I've never had such big crab rangoons before ! Considering how much I like them, I was completely ecstatic. Their dipping sauce is just oh so good. I could get one of the crab rangoons for lunch and it would fill me up. Size & quantity are more than what you'd expect. The sushi itself, I'll give it a 3/5. This is a great place to order from during the whole COVID mess. I feel safer ordering from Blue Fuji than anywhere else in town. You can order and pay over the phone and they will meet you outside with your order. If you go in to pick up they have plexiglass partitions and they put the order on a table so everyone stays very safe. Great service and everyone is very nice as always. The best food here is the Japanese options in my opinion. The Chinese food is in the midland the Thai is a bit behind, but it's still nice that they have some. Sushi is great here. Blue Fuji is great with allergy awareness as well. They are very good for celiacs. We've ordered many times with no one in the family getting sick from Gluten and they offer many dishes that are hard to find GF. read more
