The tech was prompt and thorough, as well as professional and very personable. Although it was late at night and snowing hard he made a trip back to Hagerstown to pick up a new battery, drove back, and installed it, all with a smile. Called AAA. Blue Gray picked up the call and I received a text within minutes saying they were working on it. An hour later I called dipach and was told 90-120 minutes before I could expect to see anyone. Luckily, AAA has some milestones. AAA called me about 20 min later informing me that they had cancelled Blue Gray and were dispatching someone else that would be here in 30 min. Based on my experience and what evidently others have dealt with based on some reviews here, AAA should consider discontinuing their relationship with Blue Gray. Having a system snag the call when you don't have people available, steals the work from those who actually can take care of the call in an expeditious manner. It's unfair both to the person who is sitting on the side of the road, and the businesses who could use the work and are willing to actually perform the service. These are real people, in a real situation. Please stop gaming the system, and causing others real stress and anxiety. read more

waited 1.5 hours for someone to come unlock my car, obviously i'm sitting inside at work waiting for a notification or a phone call, so the eta comes up for when the guys supposed to be here so i call and he says he did it over an hour ago never checking in with me or calling or anything that's completely unprofessional and made me sit at my job for an extra hr that i was off of 3:30am, and dude should be fired this was today 12/28/24 7am. i recommend going through any other company just cancel or tell your insurance to put you through a different company if they try to put you through to these guys. 0 stars read more

I would not let blue an gray or free state it's the same company haul a pile of pooh let a lone a vehicle. They just don't listen to directions for the driver didn't even know that there was a release on shifter to put car in neutral. The driver wanted to drag car up on roll back an possibility causing more damage to it. The driver wanted to know where to take it but that was a waste of time. They took it back to their yard an now they want too charge for taking too their yard plus storage and more money to take it where it was to go in the first place! Let's start with Jessica. I was greeted with a tone of annoyance by jessica for even calling. I was told the tow truck company denied the request but decided to never let me know leaving us stranded on the side of the highway for over a hour. Jessica was very rude, didn't care at all for their poor service, started yelling on the phone to the customer. Customer service is an important entity in a company and should be highly valued. At this company it is not. Looking at prior reviews it sounds like Jessica needs to be fired and something needs to be evaluated because this company is a huge waste of time, unprofessional, rude, and has no value for their work ethic. read more

Highway robbery in the most literal sense. The guy who came to tow my car was extremely rude and made insulting comments about my mother while my sister and I were present. He acted very impatiently with little to no grace for the survivors of a serious crash. My bill was over $545, despite releasing the vehicle within 48hours. They charge almost $50/day for storage, btw. Over the phone I asked for an itemized receipt and was told one would be sent after the call. Later that day, I emailed asking for the receipt. I called again 24 hours later because there was still no receipt. I was told it had been sent, and I should check my spam folder. I checked my spam folder and all of my inboxes... no receipt. I had such a wonderful experience today with Nick. He was so kind and despite my car situation, Nick made the tow experience really great. He arrived in what felt like minutes!! And kept me informed by phone his ETA and how much longer. How awesome!?!? This company is in Hagerstown and can you believe I was waiting 1 hour and 30 minutes for another company who was in a 5 minute distance from me to help tow my vehicle. I am SO happy I called my insurance and they dispatched Blue Gray Towing to us. My mom and I were so thrilled when he arrived (not only to save the day) but overall you could just tell he was a good worker and added light & humor to the situation. We had an unexpected problem with our older car. Needed it towed to a nearby shop. The two gentlemen that assisted us were kind enough to bring us along to the shop we requested our vehicle be delivered to. The "customer service" rep/dispatch Jessica was the most unpleasant, rude, and impatient person I have ever had the misfortune to deal with. We were stranded on the side of I-70 and called them for help. After the phone call with her I hung up and was not going to use them because of how nasty she was. To my dismay that is who my insurance road side service contacted to assist us. If it wasn't for the awesome service we received from the tow truck driver William the whole experience would have been awful. He was helpful, and kind. They really need to have a rep/dispatch with at least a little bit of compassion for the stressful situations of their potential customers on the other end of the phone. She is the first person that interacts with customers and she sets the tone to provide either good or bad customer service. read more

Responded quickly and was very efficient getting the car towed. Went above and beyond, however, by welcoming our two 100lb huskies into the cab, and made sure they were comfortable by cracking the window and turning on the air vent. Didn't even mind the shedding. Super nice and helpful driver. What could have been an extremely stressful event (getting stranded with two huge dogs) turned into a good little adventure. Very impressed with the service. I was on my way home from a week out of town when my car broke down on Interstate 70 westbound. Traffic was heavy and I wasn't in a great spot although I was off the road far enough. Called blue Gray Towing and they were super responsive and extremely friendly. They were there to get me within 20-25 minutes. I was about 15 miles from them and they would have to pass me and turn around to come west. I can't thank them enough. I had about $7-$9 dollars in loose change stolen from me when my car was towed 11/30/15, presumably from the driver. When I got my vehicle back, the thief left me with pennies after stealing all my quarters, nickels and dimes. Was I not supposed to notice the change I use for coffee and tolls was stolen? First I would like to start by saying that Josh from Blue Grey Towing did a professional job of handling both my tire and my agitation and represented Blue Grey like the excellent company I have always known them to be. However, one of their service drivers arrived on a Sunday afternoon Feb. 21 after dispatched by AAA to perform a simple tire change. The driver, AJ, on arrival told me that this was the eighth "bs" call today and that he didn't want to get wet in the slush for a 4$ service. He then proceeded to tell me he did not know how to operate the bar to access the spare tire and that there was no way for him to change the tire but that we would need to have it towed. At this point I became highly suspicious that he was trying to avoid doing his job and trying to coerce us into cancelling the job through AAA to let him out of his obligation. We told him that we were calling AAA but not to cancel the job but to report that we were not getting the tire changed per our AAA agreement through Blue Grey. They apologized and within 20 minutes Josh was on the scene and again apologized and quickly had the tire off and changed in less than 15 minutes, chatting politely the whole time. All I have to say is if you don't want to do the job you're hired to do, stay home. My son broke down in Hagerstown and we used Blue Grey towing. His vehicle was towed late in the afternoon. Because he was from out of town we asked if it would be okay if the car could be kept in the lot till the next day as my husband had work and we needed to make arrangements with a tow truck to bring it back home. The car was on their lot a total of 23 hours not only did they charge my son $70.00 for the tow which was about 5 miles they charged a 2 day lot fee. Their reasoning was that it was after hours when we picked the vehicle up. If you are a traveler beware. When you are on a trip and your vehicle breaks down it takes time to get things in order to recover the vehicle. Charging a 2 day fee simply because my husband was 15 minutes late getting the car. He had to travel to get there. The car was on the lot less than 23 hours. read more

If I could leave 0 stars I would. Horrific people working in the office, specifically Katrina and Christine. They completely lied about handling business just to make money. They were being difficult for the sake of it, they talked over you and were yelling on the phone, and they chose to argue and blame other people for their mistakes. RUDE, GREDDY and DISHONEST! My daughter did not choose this company. They were called by the police. The rude driver pulled my daughter's car off the rail road tracks, loaded it on the truck and told her to pick it up the next day the fee would be $250. On Christmas Eve we went to pick up the car no one was there so my husband called the phone number listed, a lady answered said someone will be there shortly the fee is $205. Two guys show up one rude one decent. The decent guy says that fee seems high let me call the boss and see if I can get it lowered for you. The boss says lower NO you're not charging her enough she owes $330. So the boss adds an additional $80! I've been messaging these people trying to understand how the fee goes from $250 to $205 then up to $330! All I get is there is a mountain of fees that they don't tell you about until they have your car in their possession. The police officer that was on the scene made certain that we knew he did NOT call this company. He kept apologizing for how rude and obnoxious the driver was. My advice save yourself money and stress choose another company! read more

This was the worst experience I've ever had with service. Blue and Grey Towing was sent by AAA when I had a flat tire at the Hagerstown Prime Outlet. It was about 10:30 and was told 75 minutes (around noon). I received text saying they were coming at 11:16. About 11:10 it said they had arrived, but no show. I called and was told they were 2 miles away - 11:30 no show. I called again, and AAA said now the eta was noon! The young man came, quickly took the tire off and put the spare on. As he put the lugs on, saw him have problems with one and needed to go to his truck. When he came back he said the lug was stripped and I would need to go to a service station for replacement and offered 2 locations. When I said he made the error and I wasn't paying for the repair, he called his manager. He then told me to call AAA back and get a tow to a station to get help. They were not going to tow me or help me because that was not the procedure. After a strong conversation with a woman in the office (dispatcher, manager?), I finally asked, for customer service sake, why wouldn't Blue and Grey offer to tow me and/or take me to their service area? Why should I have to call AAA to start they all over again with them right here? She told me they weren't taking me because I said I wasn't going to pay them and they couldn't me sure the lug wasn't stripped before (ludicrous!). The young man then pulled off with my bolt in his pocket. I yelled for him to stop and it took him 10 minutes & phone calls to come back! When he did return he took a picture of the lug and the screw & refused to give his name or the names of any one at Blue & Grey. After talking to another Hagerstown service station and AAA, I finally had to have my car towed to my dealer (95 miles away in Belair - I live in Baltimore County). While waiting for the tow truck, Blue and Grey called back, without officially identifying themselves, and said they had parts and would pick me up to tow me to a potential service station.When I said no, I was going my dealer, they said they needed to see if they had someone who could drive that far. I checked my app to find Blue and Grey had taken the tow job! I asked AAA for another tow company, who came on time (in the rain). My dealer confirmed the young man did strip my lug. I got taken complete advantage of, I was half asleep from driving in the truck for 11 hours and dealing with the engine going bad in my truck 2.5 hours from home. I called AAA Mid-Atlantic to get my vehicle towed home and to use my membership benefits. I had already paid for a hotel room because it was late and my brother and I were exhausted. The tow truck driver of Blue Gray Towing had loaded my truck and its contents onto his flatbed tow truck. I went inside the hotel and fell asleep. Minutes after I had fallen asleep I received a call from the driver. He gave me some story about how he was tired and didn't want to make the drive that late he then asked me if I was fine with him taking my truck to the impound lot and taking it first thing in the morning. He even made sure to assure me that it would be perfectly safe in their supposedly locked up, video monitored and secure impound lot. I was tired and hesitant but he had made a point to tell me it was safe being taken to the impound lot. (Obviously not) Upon receiving the truck this morning i find that roughly $3000 dollars worth of my Snap-on Tools that were in the truck were missing.
