Our experience with Blue Haven started off well during the sales process, but unfortunately everything changed once the contract was signed. Communication became difficult, timelines were not respected, and we were charged additional fees for multiple items that should have been addressed upfront. One situation that was especially disappointing occurred during the concrete phase. A contractor attempted to change the agreed-upon plan because it would have been easier for them, while also requesting additional charges. Not realizing my husband was the homeowner, the contractor stated, "These people have money, we should just charge them more." My husband then informed him that he was in fact the owner. We brought this concern to Nathan and Carrie, but their response did not seem surprised or concerned, which made us feel this type of situation may not be uncommon. We were originally promised the pool would be completed by October, yet the project was not finished until April. There were long periods where little to no progress was made, and crews rarely showed up consistently. Overall, this experience was extremely frustrating and disappointing. I'm deeply disappointed with my experience with Blue Haven. After a hard sell on their ozone system, I agreed to have it installed in 2021. Now, just a few years later, I've been told they no longer sell or service the units. I wasn't expecting it to still be under warranty, but I didn't expect to be completely abandoned either--NO ONE, not even Blue Haven, is willing to service it or even come take a look. The light fell out the first year, there are stains on the plaster, and they took zero responsibility for any of it. My pool has been and continues to be professionally serviced, so this isn't a case of neglect. And when I reach out to other pool companies for help, they won't even touch the system--several have gone out of their way to warn me about Blue Haven's poor reputation, which I now understand all too well. Unfortunately, putting in a pool with Blue Haven might mean enjoying it for one swim--then dealing with years of problems, frustration, and no support. We selected Blue Haven Pools out of the three companies that we received bids from and we are so happy that we did! From the sales experience with Pete C to the construction PMs, Nate and Ryan, as well as Jamie in the office, every person with whom we interacted was professional, caring, and great at their jobs. But let me start from the beginning. We did not plan this for years, think out every feature we wanted, and meticulously go through the process. Instead, we decided in late February, "hey, let's get a pool" and reached out to 3 local companies (one is a BIG national company, the other a small local company, and the third was Blue Haven--locally owned, but with the big national name). From the beginning, Pete C, Blue Haven's sales person was the MOST responsive, most available, and easiest to communicate with of all the salespeople. He came out within a day of our call to walk the property (nobody else was that fast!), shared ideas, listened to us (even though we didn't really know what we wanted, except NOT the most expensive pool ever!), and worked with our budget. Our yard isn't large..just over a quarter acre, and my goal was "most swimming space possible" so we went with a 14' by 30' rectangle, no sun shelf, 3.5-6 feet deep, sheer descent at the far end and all standard selections except the plaster (Quartzscapes Aruba Sky). Everything was selected at contract time, but if I had to do it again, I would take more time with those selections and make sure I had samples in my hand for a few days to compare. We signed our contract on March 8th, permits were requested on March 11 and weren't received from our county until April 22 (!!). With permits in hand on April 22, Blue Haven's team (and I mean team! The VP, Tyler, the PMs, Nate and Ryan, and Sales Guy, Pete,) all arrived three days later to walk the property, confirm the design done at the Blue Haven offices, and rope off the pool space. They were fast, confidence-inspiring, fun and friendly...that's one thing about Blue Haven, we genuinely LIKED every person with whom we came in contact from the company. Construction started 4/29 with the big dig--no rocks were found, so we won the lottery on that front! Things progressed quickly after that: steel on 5/2-3, plumbing on 5/7, Gunite on 5/13, equipment delivered and installed on 5/20, electrical complete on 5/21, tile and coping on 5/28, patio built 6/11-13, and plaster and fill on 6/27. Sixty (60!) days dig to fill! We are now almost a month in and have been swimming for a few days--we love it! Pool school was last week and the service team has been fantastic--again all incredibly likable, knowledgeable, fun people--especially Tony who did our pool school! We have a few issues with our plaster, likely due to the underlying gunite, but Blue Haven has been 100% responsive and forward-leaning on solving the problem and we should have that taken care of by the end of August. In summary, if you're on the fence between pool companies we would highly encourage you to go with Blue Haven. From the construction team, office staff, and leadership to the service and operations department, we could not be more pleased with the outcome. My experience with Blue Haven Pools has been nothing short of a disaster, with unprofessionalism and dishonesty at the core of their service. Their abysmal handling of my project has been so egregious that I feel compelled to caution others--please take heed before proceeding with them. Starting with the fundamentals of pool construction, the coping work was subpar, necessitating five repeat visits. Despite this, the issue remains unresolved. The customer service was equally unsatisfactory; when I contacted Vicki, the maintenance scheduler, about the problems, she responded by canceling a month of service that was included with the pool purchase and sent me a confrontational email. The disregard for professional ethics reached new lows when Blue Haven attempted to overcharge us by $30,000 the day after the project began. This was shockingly followed by tardiness in the construction schedule. Our pool was due to be completed in December, yet that deadline came and went without any communication from them. When I contacted the owner, Frank, his response was dismissive and offensive. He stated that he was preoccupied with larger projects and couldn't ensure personal notifications. His tone was unprofessional and rude, culminating in an abrupt hang-up. We are now ten months into the project, and it remains unfinished. The pool plaster is of poor quality, the tie downs for the cover have damaged the deck and were installed unevenly, and the deck itself is deteriorating, accumulating water during rainfall. Despite these glaring issues, Blue Haven's interest in our project has dwindled significantly since receiving full payment. Their indifference towards rectifying their mistakes and vindictive approach has been astounding. Opening the pool w them this year we have a good experience with the guy who came to open it but a horrible time with Vicki from the office via phone for communication regarding scheduling coming back out as promised. Our backyard pool project required some major, unexpected extra work, and BlueHaven was cooperative every step of the way. Cheyenne, the Schedule Coordinator, was exemplary. She was responsive by phone and email and followed up with every request. Completion took much longer than expected (due to circumstances out of BlueHaven's control), but the end result was better than expected. So, we are looking to have an in ground pool installed and contacted Blue Haven, as there were many good reviews. They do not take calls, only applications via the web. Step 1 - I submitted the required information via the website as requested, Step 2 - I then received an email from an account manager saying that minimum price for a basic small pool was $70K but that most projects ran $100K - $150K. She also asked for a site survey along with pictures of the site from various perspectives, which I provided Step 3 - I received an email in response In response stating that the site survey I provided was not adequate and that I needed to hire their recommended firm to do that Step 4 - I sent them a follow-up email with an updated site survey per the information they asked for Step 5 - They replied saying that the site survey was still not good enough and we needed to hire their firm to draw one up for us. Mind you, what I submitted to them was done by a certified land surveyor and also what I have used and submitted to my local ARB and Zoning Board for other projects on the property with no issue Step 6 - I explained that due to the location and landscaping, we are looking for a free-form pool that will require a site visit to design properly - which for some reason they seem very reluctant to do Step 7 - My final response to Carrie at Blue Haven was that we will no longer be considering them for this project. In comparison, other companies we contacted were more than happy to do a site visit, talk to us about our thoughts, draw up plans and provide cost proposals. Absolutely terrible customer experience! There are many options out there for inground pools, save yourself the headache and skip past these folks!! Our pool is complete, and yes it looks good- NOW, but was a long process of frustration and (our) hard work that completed the pool. From the beginning of building our pool, we were pretty pleased with the communication back and forth as we settled on a pool style and pricing that would best fit our budget and needs. We continued to be excited for next steps, excavation in March 2022....and this is where we should have ended it! We were told, "wow, you have great dirt, this should be a simple excavation"....., my thoughts, awe, yay and thanks.....umm, nope, they discovered a lot of large rocks and guess what that is $dollar signs to them, and they are going to charge you big money for it, try at the starting price of 3-5k. It amuses me that with all the pools they have built and probably 99% of them have these larger rocks and they have the equipment to handle these larger rocks, they are still surprised when they come upon these big rocks. In our case with our "Great Dirt", we came out of pocket an extra $5500 to remove and be able to continue project, after being told that they can refill the hole they already dug if we don't want to pay -they take advantage of you in the moment and of your feelings of despair and defeat! Blue Haven also Upsells their pool heating equipment with the again threatening tone of halting your project 3-6 months if you don't upgrade your equipment at the tone of $1500 The Concrete, it turned out nice, but after they laid the concrete and the pool was just about 90% complete which would be final inspections, minor things, and aesthetics, they never came back to clean up their trash around the immediate pool, driveway or yard, or did they backfill the dirt to make the pool concrete level to the ground. It was completely unpresentable! We again contacted Blue Haven again and we were asked to refer to our contract, as they don't do any backfilling, and it is our responsibility to complete "their" job. Call that the concrete companies or Blue Haven's responsibility, let them fight it out, but it shouldn't have been us who had to take that task on! In Summary-----For every part of this project their answer to us was " It's in your contact", additional fees needed to continue, or your project will be halted. Pretty threatening temper If I say so myself. This company peeled every level of my patience and if this review can prevent even just one person from experiencing the the Blue Haven Hangover, then this review served its purpose. read more

We had an extremely poor experience with Blue Haven Pools. We signed a contract in October 2020 to have our existing pool renovated and were told it should be done by the spring of 2021. Our pool was swimmable in July 2022, and due to some of the issues we will mention the project was not completed until December 2022, two years after contract signing and over 18 months delayed. Here are some of the problems we experienced: - In the spring of 2021, our manager suddenly stopped responding and after contacting BH we learned that he was no longer with the company and they were not aware of our contract. Once we sent them our contract, we kept asking to be assigned a new manager, and were not assigned one until August 2021. - The coping was put in incorrectly with a 4 inch overhang jutting into the pool. Even though our manager and several others from BH had seen it, we were the ones to notice it. The coping had to be taken out and reinstalled. - As part of our project, we changed the depth of our existing pool and created a diagram with BH pools. BH rebared the pool, filled it with gravel, and then filled it with gunite. Once the gunite was dry, we measured the depths and found that it had not been done according to the diagram and was still too deep. We contacted our manager and they had to add rebar again and add gunite again to correct it. - After the pool was plastered and water was going in, we noticed that our tile spotters to mark the stairs edge, etc were missing. When we asked our manager, it was clear he had forgotten about them and said he needed to get back to us. He responded about a week later saying, it would cost a lot at this point for them to be put in since the plaster was completed (multiple thousands), and "we could not get something for free". Displeased by this logic, we reached out to the Vice President of the Manassas branch, explaining the situation and asking BH pools to take responsibility for their oversight. We emailed the VP on August 2, 2022, called the office several times leaving him messages, and also sent follow up emails on August 4, 8, and 16th - all of which received no response. Our manager finally responded on August 22, 2022, 20 days later, saying they would add the spotters in for us at no additional cost. We never heard anything from the VP. - Experiencing radio silence from BH pools for long periods of time when there was an issue, such as the tile spotters, was unfortunately a very common occurrence. Communication with our manager was very poor. He frequently didn't respond to texts, calls, etc. Staff also often showed up in our backyard without any warning or communication as to what was happening. - We also had issues with materials being dumped and not cleaned up. Tile/debris was dumped in our yard in the summer of 2021 and not cleaned up for months after repeated requests. A bag of concrete was dumped and hardened on our grass in June 2022 which created a huge mound. With many false promises of when it would be cleaned up, twice our project manager specifically told us it had been taken care of when it hadn't, and repeated requests from us - it was finally removed 6 months later in December 2022. Although there were several staff members from the office and those that came out to work on our pool who were fantastic, it is unfortunate that our overall experience was extremely negative. We mentioned some of the biggest problems, but there were several others as well. In summary, if we had not been diligent to oversee the details and double check the work of our pool, so many things would have been done incorrectly or missed altogether. Also, the lack of communication throughout the two years of this project was extremely unprofessional and made the project very frustrating. We would never use BH again and could not recommend them. read more

Do NOT use this company! We finalized our contract with Blue Haven in September 2018 so we could have a pool by May 2019! (A reasonable request seeing as we had an open grading permit!) we are going into July 2019 and our pool has just been sitting for months at a time! First they didn't have tile people to do the coping..that held it up for a long time. Then they didn't have the finish..it was "special order"...then they didn't have anyone to sign for the finish so that held it up. Now they have the finish and tell us everyday that it is coming! But still...no pool!! The finish was $8,000 as it was to take 3 days..suddenly I'm being told it will just take a half day!! Although nobody ever shows up..new excuse daily.... Cancelled my Memorial Day party and getting ready to cancel my husbands pool birthday party as we still have no pool. We started in October of 22 and we were promised we would be swimming by Memorial Day 23 and we were complete and filled 2 weeks early! Our salesman Greg was and still is great and very responsive. All of the guys and gals with Blue Haven have been great to deal with. When we've had an issue, they dealt with it quickly and professionally. I've seen some of the bad reviews on here and we have not experienced anything like what anyone is saying. Frank, Tyler, Vicki, Erica, Donna, Greg, Nate, Tom and all of the others as well as their subcontractors have been great to work with! If I was going to build an inground pool again I wouldn't even think twice about hiring this great pool builder and their entire team! A pool has been on my wishlist for years. We moved to the Northern Virginia area almost 3 years ago and our new house had the most perfect space for a pool. All we needed to do was find the right company and the right terms to fit our budget. I contacted a company, got an estimate and it just wasn't the right fit for us. I was starting to think that a pool just wasn't in the cards for us yet. I decided to call Blue Ha Pools just to see what they could offer and if by some chance it would work out for us. Pete Cierski was very prompt in calling me back to talk all things pool. We talked and decided he would come out to look at the property and develop a design for us. When I received the design from Pete, I instantly fell in love with the pool he created for us. My husband saw the design and promptly said "pay the man". This was it, this was the pool we wanted! The rest is history, everything from that point out has fallen into place perfectly. We broke ground on 6/8 and we are looking to have the pool finished in the next week. The process with Pete, Nate and everyone at Blue Haven Pools has been seamless. The pool is gorgeous and has exceeded my expectations in every way. Every single person who has been here to do work has been wonderful. Their subcontractors are top notch, hard working, prompt, and uphold Blue Haven's commitment to excellence in every way. I contacted them almost 8 weeks ago to request an estimate. They have not emailed or contacted me once. I have called them 3-4 times and every time I'm being told that someone named Carrie will contact me. I understand all the pool companies are busy during pandemic but not responding to customer even once in 8 week?! unacceptables. All the other companies are making an initial call and telling us what the next step is and when. At this point I would be an idiot to use them when they don't even have time to make a 2 minute phone call/email/text/something to tell us, "hey you guys are in the queue. Completely unsatisfied. Our $70,000 Gunite pool is a disaster. I have replaced the sand filter, motor parts, underwater LED lighting and several other expensive parts just in four years. The premium plaster product we purchased has faded from deep beautiful blue to a light "public pool blue". We contracted in June, but our pool wasn't built until late October. When they say you are responsible for things like fences and retaining walls, they absolutely mean it. Frank Firetti,owner, changed the design of our pool after the contract, because he decided they couldn't build it the way the salesperson promised. (Don't sign anything until they have actually surveyed.) I had to spend $4,000 extra for a retaining wall and the new design changed the placement of my fence to an unsightly mess which still bothers me today. Luckily, I hired a much better fence contractor that accommodated the changes with a smile and without any additional charge. Frank demands that you pay each draw upfront on the morning before they do any work, which is a major no-no when you're hiring a contractor. It suggests either a con artist or someone who is having severe financial trouble and has no funds to pay their subcontractors. The contract stipulated each draw be paid the day the work is performed but didn't specify the morning before the work. Nonetheless I paid every draw the morning work was done as he demanded because I'm not a argumentative jerk. On the last draw day, plastering, they arrived late as I was headed out the door and neglected to remind me about the $2000 final payment. Frank called me on my cell phone, cussed me out, and demanded that I return home (from 45 minutes away) to hand the check to the contractor or he would call them off the job. I was going to be back in a couple of hours, long before they were done. Surely that would be okay? Nope. He even refused to let me drop it off at their office even though it was close to my destination. This, after I had already paid every other draw when he asked - approx $65,000 already. It was completely uncalled for, unprofessional, and unacceptable. Blue Haven has never been back to service my pool or perform any repairs. read more

They did a good job. Everyone was very nice. There were things they could do better. I would love to work for them & whip them into shape!! LOL. Reading the comments from others I think they need someone who is just a very good customer service person & a bit more communication upfront. I think this would help both Blue Haven & customers. For example I think people need to know that due to weather, permits, contractor availability, & the fact that they do multiple jobs at a time- work will be sporadic but that it will get done. I also think the company should have a personal goal they shoot for with every pool. I'd base that goal on the largest & most complex pool they have ever done and the easiet pool ever done & then tell customers a time frame based on that , like "expect your pool within say 6 to 12 months ." I dont think they realize people seem to be more mad about being in the dark then any actual work. I think they could be more organized which would help both them & customers. For example - all the paperwork normally sent out by the secretary about the plaster, alarms, and other questions a customer might have, should be given to the customer at the contract signing & they should be told to read & understand their responsibilities & ask questions. IN fact they should give a customer responsibility sheet . We had a good experience & our pool is beautiful, we had one issue but they fixed it right away. read more

Had a great experience during the sales process, but once our payment was received we had several no call, no show's once the work was scheduled to start - leaving us to call them to determine what had occurred. Frank and Tyler Firetti were some of the most unprofessional folks I have dealt with, and their operation lacked courtesy, accuracy, or even general knowledge of process and what needed to occur. After the 4th no call/no show engagement we terminated our contract with them - they proceeded to charge us $175 as they had drained the pool and drilled out our hydrostatic plugs. When asked if the pool needed to be re-filled to prevent the shell from popping out or if the hydrostatic plugs needed to be repaired I was told by Frank Firetti (Owner) that my pool never had hydrostatic plugs (untrue, the folks that did the work reached out independently to confirm, also validated with another company). Last email thread I had with them is below: Your contract is terminated. You do not have hydrostats in your pool. Nothing to drill. BHP bears no responsibility and shall assume no liability for your pool shell floating from this day forward. We had a pretty good experience with Blue Haven in building and startup of our pool. They began in the fall with the dig and completed everything before winter hit except for the decking which was the only real draw back for us since we really wanted it done so we could get our backyard in shape so our puppy had access to the backyard. Unfortunately the early freeze we experience in early December prevented the deck from being completed. The one suggestion I would give to Blue Haven is to be more proactive with customers in scheduling next step items rather than me having to reach out and find out when things would be scheduled. They were actually pretty good at scheduling during the construction process but once spring came around I had to reach out to find out when the next step would be scheduled etc. However they were professional and good to work with overall and the pool looks great and we just had it started up with week and it is looking great. read more

Our pool pump went out on Wednesday before Labor Day weekend. I called General Manager Tyler and informed him of my issue since the pump was still under warranty. Even though the short notice, two days before a holiday weekend and Blue Haven already had technicians scheduled for other activities. Of course, we had events planed for the weekend and guest coming over. Tyler went beyond the call of duty and at one point he was planning to come out personally to change the pump. On Friday Blue Haven Pools sent a very skilled technician to complete the replacement of the pump. Great response to an issue and that makes us very happy to have chosen Blue Haven Pools for our construction of our beautiful pool. Thank you again! read more
