Earlier that week, I had done another helicopter tour with another company that was more sedate but good as well. The day b4 my flight back to the states, I decided to give Magnum a try. I was looking for a thrilling ride that could rival skydiving (I used to skydive many years ago). This ride gave me the thrill I was looking for. It was so fun to have the doors off, be strapped in, and hear the wind rushing by. This place is very very conscientious about safety. You watch a safety briefing on a video, etc. The ground crew takes good care of you and makes sure you are strapped in well, etc. Our pilot was Josh and he made the whole trip fun. He was an excellent pilot, took us to see all the important sights, and had great banter with the passengers. You can tell he is very experienced with piloting a helicopter and very safe too. Feeling the wind blow in your face, mussing up your hair as you fly around was a lot of fun. We could bring our phones with us to take pics and videos but they had to be in a plastic bag case tethered to our wrist (case and tether is available for rent or purchase). Magnum Helicopters is also based upon the Magnum PI show. The helicopter is painted in those colors and there is a Ferrari that one can sit in (in the waiting area) and gets pics in. I am hoping to come back to Oahu later this year so I can visit the other islands. If I do, I'll be sure to come back to Magnum Helicopters to get another thrilling ride

By far, Captain Travis and First Mate Taylor were exceptional, leaving no detail to chance. We were warmly greeted with a drink and were given a very thorough safety briefing. Both were meticulous in their duties to their craft as well as to their guests. The catamaran was immaculate, an outstanding demonstration of the care and maintenance it receives - impressive for a 2008 Cat. Thanks MANA and crews for your care and concern. We had only 5 of us aboard ( they allow a maximum of only 6) which really enhanced the experience. As we got underway drinks were served and then came what I thought was going to be a sampling of local snacks. No, it was a full dinner made by Taylor that was some of the freshest, best food we have had on the Island, followed by a dessert second to none. The other guests dietary restrictions were taken into consideration and we sailed (and for a portion of the trip we were under full sail & not motoring) around with soft Hawaiian reggae playing. The two hours flew by.... We were regaled with stories of the Islands and some very interesting facts. Sure there are less expensive, far more crowded sunset tours... but NOTHING compares to this one. It was worth every cent. When we return we will have already booked this trip before we board our again! Do yourself a favor, splurge on a really personal Hawaiian experience and book this trip. You will be richly rewarded & have memories for years to come! There may be no traffic jams on the extra mile... but you will find on this excursion, Captain Travis & First Mate Taylor are on the extra mile & demonstrate what the extra mile should look like! We started at 6am and the morning was a tranquil visit to all the animals in the ocean. Our guides were Connor and Bethany, and they are knowledgeable naturalists and wonderful guides who took good care of us inside and outside of the water. Captain Kim knew we were birders and wanted to take photos of the shearwaters, boobys, and albatrosses and she always positioned the boat while giving us the best and most stable view for photography, while maintaining a respectful distance to the animals to avoid stressing them. We went out to Ka'ena point and had a great view of the Laysan albatross colony. There is truly nothing like having an albatross fly overhead. Along the way, we saw spotted dolphins actively feeding and playing, and also saw spinner dolphins! Seeing the monk seal lounging on the beach was a bonus. The wedge tail shearwaters had just returned so they were busy on the water. We also found masked boobys and brown booby feeding. We also saw turtles at their cleaning station! Connor and Bethany were knowledgeable about the landscape and the ecology and shared wonderful information. They are genuinely the nicest people! Highly recommended. We stayed in Waikiki for part of our trip but then came here for our last part to celebrate our daughters birthday. Best choice of the whole trip. This area was a completely different look and feel to the island. It was so much more calming and relaxing. The hotel staff were phenomenal, the check in process was amazing and went so smoothly. We were told our room wouldn't be ready until 4PM, but Disney magic it was ready at 12pm. Which was amazing with toddlers. The attractions, there are so many pools to choose from, the lazy river is amazing, the slides were so fun! The attention to detail everywhere is so Disney but with a Hawaiian feel. It was great to be able to get towel service anywhere, there are beach toys, life vests available all free. We didn't have a hard time finding chairs. Theres some good quick food service options near the pool. We ordered a bit of everything and it was all good for pool service food. The kids loved the Disney Mickey ears shaved ice. We did a paddle board rental and the bay was so calm, clear and amazing, it was beautiful to see the bay from the kind of view and experience. We did the Character breakfast dining and that was so fun for the kids to see all the Characters come through, the food was plenty. They have photos with Mickey before and you can buy all the photos and a print out for a packaged price. The characters came by and visited with the kids it was so adorable. The servers were so sweet and amazing like a true Auntie. The kids had so much fun at all the meet and greets with the Characters. Moana and Stitch were of course the island favorite and highlight. We took advantage and took lots of photos with the photo passes and had to buy the packages because what sweet memories. Self parking was very close and in a garage so it was great for us with the car rental that we had. The valet/car staff were amazing as well, they were accommodating and helped with all the bags. Bell hop was exceptional here as well, so helpful and friendly. The room itself was cute, there was a kitchenette but we didn't take advantage of it. The bathroom was a good size and had everything you needed including liquid hand soap. The room was a decent size, but the bed was a bit smaller than we are used to, it was a full rather than a queen or king. The kids pull out sofa was much bigger, but we didn't spend much time in the room. The attention to detail was great, there was room to store your bags under the bed. We had a wonderful view of the garden/pool. Great for pictures. Mickey and friends called to tell my daughter happy birthday. Overall the experience was so memorable for our family. I was tempted to sign up to be a DVC member but we don't go to Hawaii often enough to make it worth it. But by far the most beautiful Disney resort we have been too. We love DisneyWorld but this was a different Island feel. Of course we went to the gift shop too because it was a must and had special Disney Aulani items only! The lounge they had for guest use on the day of check out was amazing feature on our last day when we were flying home. We were able to use the pool and all the amenities and then shower and refresh before out 8 hour flight home.

And then killed it. Found a second one. Reported to front desk. Was told a manager would contact me. No manager ever contacted me. I've written 2 emails and sent a chat form on DVC website. Still no reply. Not very stoked. And pretty grossed out. Stuff happens. But when it does, someone needs to address. Had I received a response I probably wouldn't be giving a 1star review.

I went out today on a one and a half hour whale watching tour from Ko Olina harbor, and it ended up…read morebeing way better than I expected. The crew took us out on a small glass bottom boat and once we got moving it felt like we were heading straight into our own ocean show. The weather was spot on with bright sun, calm water, and a comfortable breeze that made the whole ride easy and really enjoyable. Before we left, the captain and his assistant very politely warned us that we might not see whales because it is still the early part of the season. They gave us the choice to go anyway, and thank goodness we did because these whales clearly had no interest in hiding. We saw several of them breach like they were trying to win style points, splash around like they were in a water park, and show off just enough to make every single person on the boat start cheering. Ian and Kai were our guides and both deserve a medal for top tier ocean adventure hosting. They explained what to watch for, gave some fun knowledge about the island, tossed in whale facts that made us feel like instant marine biologists, and most importantly they actually found the whales. They kept the whole thing fun, relaxed, and full of moments that made this our first Hawaiian whale watching cruise and one we will never forget. I would absolutely do this tour again. Highly recommend it to anyone staying in Ko Olina. The short walking distance to Aulani is the cherry on top.
