I mean the ease with which the process moved, from appt setting, to examination/initial assessment to weekly progress. THIS team is the G.O.A.T. (have severe arthritic knee from sports with younger and carrying too much body weight as an adult). I incapacitated and down, had even finally gotten a cane to use periodically - arggggh! Got a referral from a friend to see Robert and it's been a positive life change. Have my mobility back and the pain in my leg is almost gone. Medical research does show that acupuncture helps with pain which is why I think insurance companies are covering (mine does). Robert and the rest of the staff are really great. Am now doing a series for shoulder impingement. Can't recommend this resource enough!

My…read morefather in law has been at this facility for the past 5 months after having a difficult surgery and Blackstone valley rehab has undoubtedly been the worst part of the experience. During his time there, they have fed him a steady diet of hotdogs and canned foods and vegetables. He often doesn't get a drink with this, and when he does, it's some sugary beverage. This isn't a suitable diet for a healthy person, never mind an 88 year old man with diabetes and a history of heart issues. When we brought this up to the nurse and the administrators, they claimed ignorance. Yet, even after agreeing to cater his diet going forward to accommodate his medical needs, they continue to give him the same diet. He is often left to sit in soiled undergarments for hours as staff forgets to clean him. On one occasion, we noticed that he abruptly experienced swelling and pain in his leg, which he told us occurred when he fell. We brought the incident up to his main nurse, Loeuis, who responded by admonishing us for questioning their care. She curtly replied that the matter was never reported and therefore never occurred. Although we implored her to inquire with the staff, she refused and advised that she trusted all her staff implicitly so such a thing was impossible. She went further and suggested that my father in law was confused and possibly had dementia, however he has recounted the same experience repeatedly with no variation and has never displayed any signs of confusion or dementia. While at blackstone rehab, there have been nights were only a single nurse has been on for the entire facility, there have been days were his medication was forgotten, his clothes have gone missing, etc etc. For sake of brevity I'll limit the multitude of negative experiences suffered at this health care facility. Unfortunately, our experience here is not unique. We've since made friends who have loved one's staying at blackstone rehab and their experience is similar. For a facility that charges 15k a month, works with a limited staff, offers limited services, and clearly spends little to no money on patients food, you have to wonder where it's all going.

The nursing staff was very friendly and professional and made sure all our needs were taken care of promptly. There is plenty of opportunities for interaction with the other residents during activities offered on a daily basis. Meals are served with the patients in mind and dietary requests are always honored. Staff are always available to answer questions and address any concerns. I would recommend Lydia Taft House for anyone needing skilled nursing care for short term rehabilitation or long term care.
