I took a little trip to Beaufort with my wife today and we decided it was coffee time. Right downtown slightly back from Front Street was Cru Wine and Coffee. Upon walking in, we were greeted warmly and with a smiling face. While we waited for our orders, we noticed a quiet, casual environment that could bring peace to a stressful day; even if only for a few minutes. The coffee was quite tasty with notes of chocolate and oat milk. Not overpowering by any means and the coffee was the star of the show. Just what we wanted. This is a place that I end up every trip to Beaufort since my friend who lives here come here often because it's one of their favorite places. It's a wine bar and they have a small store, along with the stage for live music, but overall it has a nice chill ambience with some great bartenders and very favorable prices on all of the adult beverages that you can order up along with a small collection of food offerings. The staff is always super pleasant and you feel like you've known them even though you just met them. read more

I cannot speak to the wine portion (thought it looks nice inside!) but I can say I enjoyed both coffees I had here on both morning, It has some nice outdoor seating, some high bench seating and an array of small tables inside. There is a coffee side and a bar side (pitured below) that was mostly closed when I was there but looks fun. Thought I already reviewed this but here we go! Yes! Loved this place and a concept I've always loved. Coffee and Bar. Makes so much sense. We got breakfast and it was kid friendly as well(my son is autistic and VERY picky, even he found a muffin that he was happy with and a mango smoothie). My bf and I had breakfast burritos and my daughter got a bagel. We had chais and a vanilla latte and nothing was less than. Will 100% go back next visit. Part wine bar, part coffee shop. Popped into Cru on a Thursday afternoon while visiting Beaufort for a conference, and was pleasantly surprised by their wine selection. Fair priced bottles and most of their selection seems to be for folks that know what they're looking for - lots of Old World wines and great vintages. I didn't stay for a flight of wine (it was like 11am and didn't want to be judged!), but the flight prices were a great deal! Pick four wines, and you received a pour of each for half price. Have had decent experiences here in the past, yet this week's was abysmal. Honestly, we felt like walking out after Sarah, counter staff, rolled her eyes for the second time. All we did was to ask, "were baked goods made this morning?" To further sour the experience, Sarah and the other counter staff were overheard speaking about us when one in our party came through the front door from outdoor seating. I had the worst service last night. I am pretty sure I will not be coming to your bar again. I really liked your bar. I have always made it a point to have drinks at CRU after we visited the waters edge. I have taken friends and family to your establishment many times and have bragged how quaint and pleasant the place is. Last night was such a time that I did this. Four of us came in from after having dinner in MHC. We took a short detour to Beaufort just to finish our "so far" pleasant evening with a few drinks. The abrasive young lady behind the bar gave us something to talk about. From the beginning, we ordered a beer on tap. When we asked questions about the beer, she only pointed to the board showing what was on tap but refused to answer questions and became downright rude. This followed by one person ordering a mixed drink which she mixed significantly differently from that same drink we ordered at crew many occasions prior. The abrasive non respecting attitude continued and went even to the end when it came time to settle the tab. This young woman attempted to use the wrong credit card and hand it to us. When we politely told her it was the wrong card, she snapped us about our attitude and being uptight, before taking the wrong credit card back and presenting a different card....STILL THE WRONG CARD! This was AFTER we had corrected her the first time telling her the correct card and name!!! There are plenty of bars we can visit, and some very fun bars even next door. CRU is not the only game in town. When we decided on our first, and only, round of drinks, the young girl was at the end of the bar playing a dice game with another patron. It seemed as she was inconvenienced or even annoyed that we would order drinks. We were also scolded by another working in the bar, presumably an owner or manager, who demanded we say "please" and ordering drinks. He seemed more interested in his young child than serving customers at the bar. This evening was a complete fail for CRU. If we do come back CRU, we will look for either of these two behind the bar. If we see them, we will move on and do business elsewhere. read more

Cutest little wine and coffee shop in Beaufort. Carries some really nice bottles of wine from lots of different countries. Some high end ones. Great bar packed with lots of liquor. Got a couple of glasses of Prosecco here. Loved the stemless glasses! Nice dry bubbly. The coffee bar was fully equipped and has a varied menu, with some baked goods. Great coffee. They have a little patio in the back, and some seating outside in the front, and seating inside and at the bar. Great place to get a glass of wine or a cocktail. I really liked this spot. We tried to come our first day in town but found it closed all afternoon for a staff meeting. We came the following day to check it out and found a nice wine bar area with comfy and plush seating and, on the opposite side, a cute bakery and coffee shop. Today I went in for a coffee and along with a dark vibe there were also goat horn and flower crowns on display, which seems to be a satanic symbol. So we opted for the coffee side. It's Memorial Day weekend and we are cruising the streets looking for coffee. This maybe the only place to grab an iced coffee. The hubs wanted a hot coffee also. Welcoming staff, quick service, and awesome bar/coffee shop! Yes, you read that right. Half the place is a coffee shop that serves delicious coffees and breakfast. While the other half is a full wine shop/bar. I ordered a cold brew from the coffee shop side in addition to a Bacon, egg, and cheese Flatbread that was delicious and made to order! From the bar side I ordered a few jello syringes. They had a wide variety of flavors and alcohols and they definitely don't skimp on the amount of alcohol and jello you get in these syringes. We found this sweet spot while on vacation. We were so hot and wanted a cold beer t cool down! We did have our 1 yr old with us, so I was iffy. We ended up having a great time! The place is very LGBTQ+ friendly (being Pan, I was happy to see this!). The selection of beer was excellent. The bartender (Ashley, I believe) was okay. Wasn't too attentive, but the younger gentleman working along side her doing count for the day was exceptional. He was very friendly, and even gave us some dining suggestions for the area. I visited the coffee side to grab some goodies, and I loved that the cashier was so kind and personable. She was actually getting ready to move to the area I grew up in, so I was trying to give her some suggestions around that area. The blueberry scones are great, as well as "Blackbeard's Balls"! Morning coffee was truly a lackluster experience from the dark and dingy ambiance to the kind of sad and miserable employee to the taste of the coffee. However, we went back again for drinks during a music bingo event. I must say it was an altogether different experience. The bartender was great! This place is outstanding!! Such a great feel and aroma as soon as you enter. Very polite staff that comes with the small hometown feel Beaufort has to offer. Our lattes and coffee were both superb. There's no way to make this much needed review shorter... we stood in line for about 15 min, then ordered our espresso milkshake and 2 sandwich wraps. We then sat at a table over looking the kitchen line and just watched the chaos and food sanitation/safety just completely disregarded! Females had there hair down in the kitchen, workers touched cash from the tip jar and then handled food and drinks without washing hands first..EWWW! They had a total of 7 workers scramble around each other in chaos.... and we waited there for 45mins... just to have our order made wrong! another man came in angry because they forgot to make 2 items he ordered, and they claimed he didn't order it, he was pissed off!! the cashier tried to explain to one of the young male workers what the drink was we ordered and he wasn't paying attention to her at all!! I even said "I don't think he was paying attention to you, I hope our drink gets made right, and sure enough it wasn't made right!!! Then he had to make it 3 times which wasted 9 shots of espresso and 3 full blenders of ice cream..They don't work efficiently... I also watched the person making food waste like 4wraps and 3 hand fulls of spinach trying to make one wrap! We finally got our wraps and mine was missing egg and had pesto on it which is not even on the sandwich! At that point we were absolutely DONE! No way were we waiting anymore time in this crazy place! I don't even want another sandwich I wanted to enjoy the day in the little town not sit in an unsanitary chaotic cafe! NEVER AGAIN! read more
